Quite possibly the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, 5 star...not a hope, i have had better food in dockers cafes, the first choice rep is less than useless, and never turns up when she is supposed to. The food is truely disgusting, i saw a plate of prawns left under a warm lamp for 5 hours on the buffet table, no-one ate any, the following day the identical plate was put back out, reheated, and left under the hot lamp all evening, if i had my way the chef would be arrested for attempted murder. Save your money, go anywhere other than this hotel.

Punta Prima a small village with not...

Dec 2007, Mrs M McNamara

Punta Prima a small village with not much to do outside the complex. The complex itself has good facilities but the outdoor and indoor pool areas were very slippery.
The apartments are basic, double beds are two single beds pushed together. Apparently in high season, July and August be prepared to queue for everything. We travelled out of season and could use the facilities any time we wanted.
The downfall of this Hotel is the food, it is substandard, and some members of our party were ill. The adult section was poorly presented and cold with little variety, the fruit was wrote and mouldy. The children’s food mainly consisted of chips and believe it or not the same food was served for every meal. Even serving up dessert left over from the adult section from the evening before for breakfast.
First Choice were of no help, one of their representatives said we did not appreciate the food and culture of Spain. Having shown their rep around the dining hall she was shocked at what she saw.
There were certainly health and safety issues, while waiting to be served carved meat on one occasion the "chef" dropped the knife on the floor picked it up and continued to use it to the horror of everyone in the queue. On another occasion there was glass on the dining hall floor, (bearing in mind that there were lots of children at the hotel), when we pointed it out to a member of staff she just laughed.
As a result of the poor food we therefore had to eat off site most of the time. First Choice were of no help with this issue.
I would not recommend this resort. We have never experienced such poor quality cooking before, even in 3 star accommodation.
I would give this hotel a 5 star with 1 star food.

Nov 2007, Mrs J Day

When we arrived at the hotel, it was everything I had hoped for. The grounds were perfectly maintained, the swimming pools were crystal clear and very clean, great sports facilities, all the areas - bedrooms, reception, bar, restaurant were very spacious, modern and so clean. Although the complex is set on quite a steep hill, there are not too many steps, and the whole place is quite pushchair friendly.
HOWEVER, I have never seen or eaten such horrendous food. Everyday, it seemed to be the same. Grey looking wilted salads. Manky fruit. Strange vegetable dishes. Nothing was labelled so it was very difficult to work out what it was you were eating. There was also a severe outbreak of violent sickness whilst we were there - this could have been a coincidence I suppose (- luckily we managed to avoid it - probably because we hardly ate anything!).
The resort of Punta Prima is small and quiet with a nice soft sand beach. It could have been quiet because it seemed like the end of the season, but I can't see it having that much to offer. But on the whole is a lovely place for families.

We found Punta Prima a small village...
4 / 10
Oct 2007, Mr P Noonan

We found Punta Prima a small village with little to do outside the complex. The complex itself has very good facilities but be careful of the slippery surfaces around the pool areas.
As we travelled out of season we found we could use the facilities any time we wanted but during the high season (especially in July & August) be prepared to book and queue for most things. The apartments are basic but functional; double beds are 2 single beds pushed together and are not very comfortable.
The reason for only marking this resort 4 out of 10 is the food, it is below standard and 3 of our party were ill. The children’s section is very poor and clearly the hotel's idea of basic dietary requirements is chips every day!
The adults section is poorly presented and very unimaginative and on most occasions it was cold. As a result we had no choice but to eat off site on a number of occasions as our tour operator (First Choice) were of little to no help in this matter.
In fact one of their own representatives was shocked at the quality of the food but their official health & safety officer passed the resort with a clean bill of health. I am taking this matter up with First Choice in the UK as I do have photographic evidence of rotten food on display.
In conclusion I would only recommend this resort on a B&B basis and hire a car if you want to see the non tourist parts of the island. You can probably book the whole holiday yourself as the tour operators are of little use when you are there if you encounter a problem.

Well I've read some of the other reviews on this website and think some people must have been to a different hotel!!!
I've stayed in many hotels all round the world, most of them being 4+ stars rating, and this one is just as good as the others.
It was almost perfect in every way; great staff, great room, great facilities (especially for babies and children), great food and beautiful surroundings and I'm saying all this at the end of their busy season!!
I'm going back with my family next year and I'm already looking forward to it...

Oct 2007, Mr M Langdon

Nice hotel unfortunately awful food, I can honestly say that I have never experienced such poor quality cooking in my life. One group of Londoners even arranged a petition to give to the hotel manager. Others ate out despite it being all-inclusive and kept their receipts to give to the First Choice rep to try to claim the cost back.
To sum up this is a 5 star hotel with one star food. Don’t go there!

8 / 10
Aug 2007, Mr S Matthews

We returned yesterday from 14 nights at Punta Prima. Some of the reviews I read before going said that the food was not very good.
Considering the number of people there from so many countries we found it to be very good for a buffet. There is also an al a carte option by the pool side restaurant. Yes there could be more variety, but the quality was good for this style of eating.
For a family with young children I would rate it up with anywhere else I have stayed of this type.
If we did not have children or if they were grown up, then I would opt to pay the extra for the Punta Prima Prestige.
The one thing I would say that could be improved was the room comfort, the beds were OK but not very comfortable. For this reason I would rate this Hotel a 4 star and not 5 star.
There are two main pool areas, we found the one at the top of the resort to be best for young children and found it easy to find sun beds at any time of day (that took a lot of pressure of).
Facilities overall were better than I expected, the size and number of the pools, the tennis courts, bikes, wellness centre (good for the odd wet day) and the entertainment for the children and evening show was very good with the team working very hard.
We would be happy to return to this Hotel and location.

Aug 2007, Mr P Woodward

Very Large complex dominated by a steep hill that runs through the middle of the complex. Large pool at the bottom and the top, lost count of the number of mothers trying to push a pram uphill.
Staff were very pleasant, kid's club is the best I have seen. Two hours each in the morning and afternoon, my two really enjoyed it. As a welcome security you have to sign each child in and out.
Rooms were ok, but not worth 5 stars, the room telephone was very poor.
Food in the restaurants was first class with plenty to choose from. If you are staying half board there is a pizzeria and cafe at the north pool, and sandwiches or barbeque at the south pool. We tended to go to Punta Prima for lunch, it's a ten minute walk to the beach and town from the resort.
Apart from Saturday, the evening entertainment was provided by the hotels kids club representatives. ok for the kids. During the day certain activities took place at both pools; at the south pool there were games organised for kids and adults including aqua aerobics, at the north pool it was quieter apart from the odd game of organised water polo. One good thing was there were plenty of sunbeds, if the south pool was full there was always one available at the north pool.
We travelled with Thomson and organised a couple of trips. One to see the dancing horses - if you get the chance go, a really good family show. The second was to the water park the following day. Trouble was that the trip pickup time changed and we were informed late and couldn't make it. The Thomson rep Luke did a sterling job in getting our money back - Thanks Luke.
Overall a very good holiday, doubt if we will go back to this one but wouldn't rule out another Insotel Hotel.

8 / 10
Jul 2007, Mrs L McKeeman

Just returned from Menorca where we stayed at Club Punta Prima.
The first thing that hits you as you enter the hotel is the elegance and cleanliness of the place. All accommodation is villas which are very good sized.
Unlike most hotel rooms, this had a living space (which can be used as sleeping area for children), separate bedroom and lovely bathroom. The beds were changed daily and fresh towels always delivered every day.
There are a couple of pools - generous sized. The North pool is supposed to be the children’s pool but I found that almost 80% of children played around the South pool which had a very lively atmosphere.
The animation team do a very good job in keeping everyone entertained and all are encouraged to join in the fun. The pool bar had a barbecue every day although suspect if you stayed for 2 weeks; you would get tired of the same burgers and sausages although you could eat in the main restaurant.
My family all went all inclusive which is recommended as the food and drinks are not cheap.
The food was average - no real inspiration greeted you at meal times and if anything the food was the same from one night to the next although reasonable quality.
Everything is clean to perfection and I could not criticise the effort made by all cleaning staff.
Entertainment at night is pretty poor (was fine for us as we had small children but not a great spot for teenagers as there is nothing happening after 11pm and nothing really in the location outside the hotel) although again the animation team do their best to keep things moving.
A few reviews I have read have criticised children for running around - there was certainly no evidence of children being allowed to misbehave in the dining areas although if you are a couple, you may find a lot more children in this hotel than you would prefer.
If you go with a tour operator do not expect to see many of their reps and certainly we never saw the Thomson rep all during our stay. We could not even get confirmation of when we were getting transfers back to the airport - we ended up ringing the 24 hour helpline and get details ourselves - similar to people with other operators.
Overall a good value for money holiday and weather is brilliant in July/August. The hotel is rated 5* and whilst I do not think this is 5* in UK terms, I would certainly rate a very high 4*.

Nov 2006, Mr P.J. Jacobs

I stayed at the Insotel Club Punta Prima in May this year, with my girlfriend .We are both in our late 20's with no children. The hotel is family friendly, but does cater for everybody, including young couples.
The reports on this site are unfair. The food we thought was exellent, especially if you enjoy a wide range of meats and seafood. Last year we stayed at the club hotel RIU Oliver beach resort in Fuerteventura. I'd say the food of the two hotels was on par.
There is not a lot of nightlife in the resort outside the hotel. But you can catch a taxi to the next resort which will cost 4 EURO'S. There are loads of shops and bars. The rooms were top quality, and kept very clean and tidy. All the rooms in the hotel have a brilliant view of the sea.
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday this is a very good choice.

Like others who have reviewed the...

Oct 2006, Mr A Dent

Like others who have reviewed the hotel I was arrived slightly apprehensive as to what might greet me. I thought the overall standard was very good, it is as clean as any resort hotel I have stayed in, and everything worked in the room that was supposed to.
The food in general was very good, some things possibly were on the menu the night before but this is standard practice in pubs and staff restaurants in the UK. I can't fail though to see how anyone couldn't find something they liked.
The wine was obviously Spanish but certainly couldn't be described as vinegar, it is the worlds best but was perfectly adequate.
I didn't use any of the entertainment on offer so can't comment on that, but families with young children seemed OK with it.
People who let their children run around in the restaurant were irritating in the extreme but that isn't the fault of the hotel.
What lets the hotel down is small things, like the supermarket trying to win an award for most empty supermarket shelves in Europe award and the bizarre policy of some days taking the sun beds at the top pool away by midday if they weren't in use. I was overcharged a couple of times but the staff were apologetic and quick to rectify the mistake.
This isn't a 5 star hotel but it is certainly a 4 star hotel. Some people will never be satisfied wherever they stay that's human nature, but the negative reviews on this site are in my opinion as misrepresentation of what it is actually like to stay there.

Punta prima where really a good place...
9 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr Stoquart Madmyke

Punta prima where really a good place to go (8 days, we are from Belgium) and it is certainly more dedicated to family. But we rally enjoy this place and the services. I cannot agree with some other comments about services and quality of food. Maybe it is "cultural" but the variety of the buffet (changed regularly) was enough to compose various meals for us and the children every days. The attitude of the people there was really kind and available most of the time. Ok I agree that some time we had to call someone because there was a rush of people but what is a minute more or less when you have the time? In another way some "customers" not really nice and particularly an English family that where really disgusting when eating (the table was like after a war) but the workers of Insotel never say a word about (I really did keep cool myself not to do it).
Anyway Insotel Punta Prima is a good idea for family, we certainly will come back over there and a last word, if you fell really unhappy the most the time of your life, you will be not happy there but probably never anywhere.
