Talayot Apartments, Cala N Forcat
Talayot Apts are the perfect choice if you want to escape to a village in the sun where a family holiday means entertainment for all ages in friendly surroundings. With a gently shelving sandy cove, Cala'n Forcat is an excellent choice for a family holiday and a good base for getting out and about and seeing more of the island.

we stayed for 1 week october and it is the first time i have been self catering in years, normally we go all inclusive but this property was great. The kitchen had a full oven, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle, toaster and all utensils, flat screen tv and 2 bedrooms. our room in P block was superb, straight out onto the patio and toddler pool directly in front. There are 5 pools in total and 3 blocks of accommodation, if you want it quiet ask for R or X block which are at the front and the back of the complex. There are childrens clubs whioh were excellent, evening entertainment, a snack bar and restaurant. we realy could not fault it, and only 5 mins walk to Plaza Domingo Square which has shows on every night at 9.30pm, a soft play room and trikes and push cars for the children, you could let the children play while still watching the show-perfect! brilliant holiday, brilliant accommodation, facilities and location

Had a fantastic time at talayot, went with my partner and my 6yr old daughter who had a gr8 time at kidzclub, the reps were amazing especially desperate dan who all the kids loved.Shows at night were fab, especially parrot show and magic show. Apartments were bright and clean,we were in f,block which was right next to our favourite resturant la,ancora the staff there were brilliant and gr8 with kids, foods lovely and its quite cheap for a 3 course meal with bottle of wine. After 3 days of eatin breakfast&dinner there the waiter gave us a voucher for a free bottle of wine with our dinner couldnt have asked for any more, would recommend this holiday to anyone with kids as theres lots for them to do,we will goin back next year hopefuly, cant wait:)

THE ONLY COMPLAINT WE HAVE IS THE WEATHER WE HAD RAIN AND THUNDER STORMS FOR 4 DAYS OF THE HOLIDAY (NEVER GOING IN SEPTEMBER AGAIN) WE WERE IN BLOCK E JUST BEHIND THE POOL BAR IT WAS A CLEAN APARTMENT, VERY SPACIOUS,CLEAN TOWELS EVERY 3 DAYS. TALAYOT IS IN A GREAT POSITION NOT TO CLOSE TO THE NOISEY BARS BUT NOT TO FAR EITHER EVERYTHING IS ON YOUR DOOSTEP.
BEST PLACE TO EAT IS FRANKIES THE PORK LOIN TO DIE FOR, FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT THE SQUARE HAS SOME GOOD SHOWS EVERYNIGHT FAKE THAT AND THE TEMPTATIONS WERE BRILL. BAR SIXTY ONE DOES A GREAT PINT OF GUINNESS ASWELL

Just returned from a two week break at the end of August 08 / beginning of September 08 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Talayot. This is you typical thomson family package with the kids clubs, cheesy entertainment etc during the day and kids disco / entertainment in the evening.
Our family has four children, 9, 6, 2 and 3 months and all ages were catered for. The older kids loved the kids clubs, including the kids reps and loved to dance at the kids disco's in the evening and round the pool for the daily renition of "Big Fish Little Fish" !
The daytime reps were good, Bex was much more interactive with the kids than Dan, but he did manage to get most of the adults involved in the daytime activities and kept us informed of the latest football news on transfer deadline day. Thomson the dog made numerous appearances (day and night) to the horror of my 2 year old who was scared to death by him at the start of the holiday, but was cuddling him for photos by the end.
The reception and bar staff were extremely helpful and when we required a doctor (for our 6 year old), the reception called them and they arrived within 10 minutes at the apartment door.
Also, when we arrived, our lock on our suitcase was broken and within 5 mions, the maintanance man was at the door, hacksaw in hand to open our case.
The apartments were clean and tidy and the maids changed towels and made beds etc every 2 - 3 days.
The Thomson rep in resort was not overly helpful, and seemed to be the type that would eat herself if she was made of chocolate, but that was my only gripe.
The apartments are well placed in the resort with all of the bars and restaurants only a few minutes walk away. The resort is very commercialised and you could by everything English that you would wish for.
The pool areas were busy at the hight of season, but there were always beds available and the pool was regularly cleaned.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it wo families with young children. If you want peace and quite, this is not the place to be.

Arrived to be given the dreaded X block. What we was given was X40 and this must be the DREADED room. It is situated on top of the kitchen of the Chinese restaurant below. Walked in the room...which looked quite nice and walked out again. Spoke to the reception who straight away offered us another room which was still being cleaned..asked to check if ok. This room, S5 was beautiful. Brand new kitchen with dishwasher/microwave..everything. Nicely situted on the end of a block.
Now our holiday could begin.
There are 5 pools. S block has it's own pool which is like having your own private villa/pool although my daughters aged 6 and 8 were the only ones who used it out of our family..not anything bad we just preferred the action at the main pool.
The entertainment here is brilliant. Perfect for families. It happens around the pool from 11am to 4pm although you are never forced into doing any. You will love Big Fish,Little fish it is impossible not to. Dan and Bex should be payed more...they are brilliant..full of energy all day..every day!! Kids clubs are split into 3 different clubs, my youngest loved it although my oldest wasn't as bothered, the kiddy Reps are lovely..especially Cookoo Claire. We all loved the main pool. Girls made loads of friends as did we.
Evening entertainment every night..we only stayed for the children's dancing with Thomson the Dog but it looked very good.
We were never asked to pay for a sunbed even though this was stated in the brochure. Other people on X block loved it there so I think we were just unlucky with the room we had origianlly been given. The whole site is pretty and well kept. You can even see your children in the playground whilst staying round the pool..depending on where you sit.
The Talayot is well situated for the town..2 minutes and you are there. This is kiddy heaven. Everywhere there is bouncy castles so it is easy to bribe the kids into sitting nicely for dinner and then go on them after. Kids meals are available everywhere. Our favourite restaurant was Los Delfines which made a wicked Lobster soup!! There is a Waterpark in the town as well which is ideal for a change of a day round the pool.
The beach is a let down. Very tiny cove and big warnings of Jellyfish, although when us and our friends went down there we found none.. this is a short walk from the Talayot too.
Take the children on the train that runs round the town and a ride on Torino the horse and cart...my girls loved it.
All in all this is brilliant. If we hadn't already booked a holiday for next year we would seriously consider here again. I can see why people go back year on year...if it is a fun family holiday you are after...this is perfect.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment. It was brilliant. Accomodation had everything we required. It was clean and well maintained. We were situated close enough to all amenities, yet far enough away to be peaceful.
The Thomson reps worked really hard to make sure the holiday was special. Fun and very entertaining and very professional.
The main pool was the only one we visited but on walking around all the pools look lovely. The setting is very relaxed, friendly and inviting.
The main strip is well within walking distance and caters for all ages.
There is no doubt that we will visit again.

We have just returned from two weeks at the Talaiot. I must say I was quite impressed. The apartment we had was directly opposite the main bar and children's splash pool but we had no problems with noise at night. The apartment was very clean and appeared newly fitted out, with a nice big bathroom and two good sized bedrooms - we had ceiling fans but no aircon and as it was VERY hot that would have been good!
The main pool was good but if you want a sunbed you have to get the towels on early!! My only gripe was a lack of "proper" seats next to the pool - although there is a bar and snack bar with "big" seats. I wouldn't go to this sort of place if I didn't have kids - too much laid on entertainment for my liking - but the kids enjoyed the various games by the pool and the kids clubs during the day were great - the room was beautifully air conditioned! At night there was the usual sort of entertainment - dire parrot shows, mediocre club type acts but easily avoided by sitting outside - that said we did stay and watch most nights. The nearest beach at Cala Blanes is not the nicest on the island - a lot of rubbish on the visit we made and loads of jelly fish in the water. The "strip" of Los Delfines is well served by bars and restaurants - my daughter enjoyed the "English" breakfast at Jimmy Hill's bar. We also paid quite a few evening visits to the inflatable park attached to the Water Park - 3.5 euros for the kids to run riot in a fenced off area with a giant inflatable rabbit (!) meant we could have a decent meal in peace.
We took the bus to Ciutadella which is worth a visit - the marina is lovely. We also took one of the organised trips to Mahon and a leather shop - unfortunately we chose the hottest day so Mahon was a case of searching for a cold drink in the shade! Lots of tat on the market and very expensive jackets in the leather shop!
On the whole I enjoyed the holiday, although I probably wouldn't rush back. The Thomson entertainers were very good - with Beautiful Bex and sidekick Desperate Dan keeping everything going. A good holiday for a family with kids over the age of 5 I would say.

We got back from our Holiday in the Talayot Apartments in July 2008. We have two young children - ages 2 and 7 years. We stayed in a self catering apartment.
We booked this holiday only a couple of weeks before we went, we usually go to Cala n Bosch, but as this was a last minute, we decided to opt for Cala n Forcat as we had heard that it was good for children. When we arrived at the Talayot, we were impressed by the standard of our apartment. It looked as though it had been updated quite recently and everything was clean and tidy. The kitchen had everything we need and the appliances were practically brand new. There was a fridge/freezer microwave, kettle, toaster etc. The bathroom was very nice with a good hairdryer. The only downside was that the rooms did not have airconditioning. When we went to the pool the first morning, we were surprised as to how busy it was. Although it was the school holidays, it was very busy. The pool did not seem big enough for the amount of children that were there and the toddler pool was very packed with older children, playing with a ball etc. Mid morning, the representative from Thomson started to play loud music and spent all day on a microphone arranging silly dances in the pool and games etc. This is not a good place to go if you prefer peace and quiet! The poolside entertainment went on all day, every day. The kids loved it of course, but if you don't like getting sprayed with water guns and being jumped on in the pool, then this is not the place for you!! The evening entertainment didn't live up to the day time activities. The main function room in the Talayot is very dated and hot (not aircon) so it was not very appealing. The activities at night started with a childrens disco and then bingo and a show, of some sort. The whole entrance/function room/checkin desk is very old style spain and needs modernising. As for Cala n Forcat, we thought that it was great for children, everything they would like. The resort is not near the sea and is basically a road in the middle of nowhere full of pubs/bars/amusements/restaurants/shops etc. We felt that it was a little bit 'false' and much preferred Cala n Bosch which is situated on a nice harbour. However, we did enjoy our holiday to the Talayot as there was nothing horribly wrong with the place. It was just a little bit too noisy and busy and a bit like a holiday camp in the sun! We would not necessarily go back to that resort again.

Our family of 10 have just come back from a 2 week holiday at the Talayot Apartments in Cala n forcat. We had children ages 2,4,8 & 12 in our party and they all had a great time. Childrens clubs are available if you want them ours were happy to play in the pool all day.
We had 3, 1 bedroom apartments all next to each other we found them very clean and tidy our only dislike was no air con just a fan which was very noisy at night.
The main pool area got very crowded so we went to one of the smaller pools in low seasons it would be fine. all the staff are very friendly on the whole complex. We had several evening meals and the weekly BBQ all the food we had was very good.
The shop connected to the complex is well stocked withh everything you will need including lots of english brands.
The resort is small but has a good selection of shops, bars and resturants, we went to the aqua park for the day this was good fun and well worth a visit. If you want to go further away the bus which is very reliable has air con and cheap stops outside the apartments taking you to other parts of the resort Cala n Blanes and Cuitadella. Vist the market at Cuitadella on Sat morning it has some good stalls selling local goods or walk down the the harbour and have lunch at one of the lovely resturants and watch the world go by.
We loved Menocra and will be going back next year we have been to Calan Bosch which we found to be a better resort than Cala n forcat but loved Talayot apartments. Hope you enjoy your holidays as much as we did.

We arrived as a family of four 16 and 11 year old, and was allocated the dreaded X block. After a quick scan of the apartment it was decided no, no, no! Ignoring the Thomson reps it was straight to the main reception where we asked to be moved. There was no argument and they agreed to move us straight away. As it was the height of the season space was limited but they still accomadated our request. I personally think the management are prepared for the complaints regarding X block. So my advice would be complain to the management straight away.
We were allocated a one bedroom apartment in E block. The room was spacious kiitchen was ok for tea and toast, we did'nt bother cooking as this could have been quite a challange. The bedroom was small although the shower area was large. The maid came twice while we were there for the week. Unfortunatley at night it was unbearable due the fact there was no air conditioning in the room only a ceiling fan.
The pool was quite large but could get overcrowed at times and it would be advisable to get sunbeds early. There are also a lack of umbrella's.
The reps entertained during the day Bex interacted more than Dan.
The resort was very peaceful and ideal for families there are plenty of resturants and bars all kid friendly.
There is a small bay with a white sandy beach 5 minute walk from the apartments with facilities.
We would visit the resort again although not in the Talayots.

we as a family really enjoyed staying at the talayot, this was our first family holiday and couldnt ask for anything better.the arpartment very clean and the maid service was every other day with clean towles and they cleaned the whole apartment and made your beds.the only problem we had was where our apartment was located,in block x this is outside the normal complex and is very quiet during the day,it had two pools a big pool for the adults and older children and a child pool.on this side you didnt have to pay for the sunbeds.our apartment was on the ground floor and with two young children age 3 and 1 it was a bit off a concern that the doors didnt have child proof locks on as the patio had no railings to stop them woundering off and it faced the adult pool.the entertainment was very good at night time but for the week we was there we was out and about around the resort.the staff were very pleasent and helpful.at the time i was pregnant and had a broken finger and they helped with our cases when we arrived and when we were leaving.we tried many restarants around calan forcat and some were ok and some were brill.we really enjoyed the black horse it is run by an english family and the food was excelent.we went on a few trips booked with the thompson reps and was slightly dissapointed with the standard we was expecting a good day trip or night trip and it was the opposit.we went to mahon to the gin place and had a boat trip the boat was unclean and stank off deisel.then we went on a trip to see the horses we was told that we were going for a meal before hand and they didnt take into account the children and what they would eat and the food for the adults food was horrible and not worth what we paid for,but the horse show was execlent.the beaches are small and in little coves but there are quiet a few so you dont have to feel like sardines cramped into a little beach.there is a little train ride around the resort and that way you can find where the other beaches are.calan forcat isnt the best place for buying presents to being back for family and friends but there are quiet a few shops that sell different things and some off them can be expensive.there is a wide range off food avaliable so you dont have to go hungry.overall i would recommend this complex as a family holiday.

Like the other reviews I was a bit concerned before going to the Talayot after reading some reports, however, I was very pleasantly surprised. This is our second trip to Menorca (previously stayed at Vista Blanes).
The apartment (in C Block) was clean and modern, kitchen was a bit basic but very serviceable for making breakfasts etc. The maid was round every 2 days, changed towels and sheets on all beds, as well as giving the apartment a quick clean too. The main Pool was always busy and could be difficult to get sunbeds, not due to the lack of them but due to people "booking" them before 8am!! The only "complaint" I would have is that cleanliness in the public toilet area could've been better ie checked more frequently - again I put this down to messy holiday makers rather than the cleaners.
Reps for Kids Club were absolutely fantastic - cannot fault them for anything! My 10 year old was really sad to leave and has already emailed them. Main Reps of Bex and Dan - Hats off to them, not only can they handle the children really well they also manage to deal with the "grown" ups really well too. Dan's bingo had my 13 year old in stitches, reduced a man to leaving the room to stop himself laughing and big fish, little fish had everyone laughing. Dan and Bex - I wish I had half of their energy and enthusiasm - they always looked as if they were really enjoying themselves and tried so very hard to get everyone involved!
The daytime activities were fantastic also, scuba diving in the pool (for a small cost), quiz's etc etc mainly all gentle but enough to keep everyone going (except the water basketball!!).
The general area of cala n forcat is generally like blackpool in the sun, I would suspect the more into the season you get, although the Talayot is on the edge of that and for that I am grateful. I would have liked to see more of the real menorca in that area - my advice is to hire a car, go to Fornells, Ferreries and of course Citudella - it truly has more souls. Getting around on public transport is reasonably easy and cheap, although can be a bit crowded. Cala n Blanes has a great restaurant Es Pitas which caters for a midway between traditional and tourist menorcan food and very reasonable too.
Menorca is a truly wonderful place to holiday, Cala n Forcat is definately geared towards families and I would recommend the Talayot Apartments to any famliy and I do not say that lightly. We will return.

I have recently returned from an excellent holiday with me family
There was 8 of us altogether and it was the best holiday ever!!
We stayed in block D right by the pool so it was great.
The reps were amazing with all ages from children to adults
Beautiful Bex & Desperate Dan, they always knew how to entertain people
Dan had a weird sense of humor though. The pool was great and lots of fun for the children.
Its The first holiday me and my friend went on together we are only fifteen and we
enjoyed it more than the little children who came with us we was always up dancing and having a good time, we loved the dances and we just want to go back, so hopefully we can go back next year. we have only been back a week and we miss it already
best holiday ever!!
The activities in the day were amusing such as when it was Reps vs Guests and everyone got involved. the reps show was soo funny when rocking ryan was dressed up as sharon osborne & the other reps were just so funny & knew how to get everyone having a good time. There was lots more activities for everyone to join in with such as giant jenga; water basketball, and the kids clubs seemed really fun!
The entertainment in the night was fab, and when it was family club zone everyone got involved and was up dancing to BIG FISH ! I don’t think anyone would get bored of doing that dance and it was always stuck in mine and my friends head J. The songs and dancing with the kids were amazing. They are the best holiday entertainers ive ever seen and always getting everyone up and laughing.
Desperate Dan is so funny he entertains everyone with his stupid sayings and his way of playing bingo and the things he says just makes everyone laugh
The area around the complex was great. There was loads for the kids to do
The aqua park was great for all ages to enjoy and the bars and restaurants sold lovely food.
Just down the road from talayots there was a inflatable park with trampolines a inflatable whale, ship and jelly for all ages to go on and you get a free ice lolly.
It was the best holiday ever !! I would definaetly go back again because it was so fun and entertaining and you never ever get bored of doing the things you do.
we didnt want to leave hope to go back next year :D x

Our family have recently returned from the Talaiot Apartments. Having spent 2 weeks there and this being our first visit to this complex all I can say is what a fantastic experience! We could not fault anything and admittedly having read up on some of the more negative reviews prior to our trip we were a little wary of what we'd be greeted with, however all I can say is this place comes top of this list so far on previous family holidays. Our party comprised of 5 (The wife, me & our 3 kids aged 9,7 & 4) we were placed in E block which was situated close to the main pool & snack bar, perfect!
The reps Beautiful Bex, Desperate Dan were fantastic (be warned Dan likes to tag nick names to most of the guests, I became tagged with Les Dennis for the 2 weeks).
The daytime activities such as; water basketball, lawn darts, quick cricket, giant jenga, killer pool & the kids clubs Tots, Team & Tribe took care of the kids needs also.
In the evening we did spend a few nights at the complex for their entertainment, however most of the time we ventured into the main strip which has a good selection of bars, restaurants a few which we certianly found great for our needs was the L'Ancora first restaurant on the corner once you turn right out of the main entrance of the complex, Cuore (great paella) & the Aqua park restuarant with the inflatable rabbit & other activities was a highlight of the kids. Jimmy Hills offers nightly tribute bands entertainment, as does the Plaza Domingo, although this was not a great venue for food.
We took the local bus service into Ciutadella on the Friday, as they have their market in the morning and this cost the whole family 7 euros each way & it's certianly worth a visit.
I hope all future viewers & visitors to the Talaiot have as great an experience as we've had and we intend to go back in a couple of years time.
