stayed at the sa mirada early sept 2011 myself and teenage son half board
had no problem with the appartment, was perfect for just 2 of us. as stated we were half board so the small kitchen with fridge toaster kettle was perfect for snacks and drinks. bathroom was small but useable. rest of appartment met our needs. it was worn but generaly clean. pool area was great plenty of sunbeds nice pool with fairly priced snacks.
would reccomend half board. down to the isla paraiso for meals great staff running things smoothly and friendly. food was great really liked every meal.
theres a few hills and steps in the resort which didnt bother us. theres a few spar shops and mini mart types theres a chemist and a few bars/restaurants most with nice views.
we had no ant problem and were on the ground floor odd ones appart. did see 3 big mobs of ants in our week but as ants go these must be the weediest ants ever theyd get leathered by your standard uk black ant
enjoyed our holiday and might well return

We stayed at these apartments in August 2010, and due to the mixed reviews, I was really unsure of what we would find, especially as we had 2 small children with us. I agree the apartments are dated and in need of a refurb, the bathroom is very very small and the kitchen is really unusable......given all this, we had a lovely week in menorca. The apartment was clean and the bedding was changed regularly, the pool was also clean and there were always plenty of sunbeds and parasols. The few staff that worked there were always friendly. The whole resort was quiet, and an ideal place for families. Basically you get exactly what you pay for.....we went for 1 week, and that was long enough....as for the ants, we hardly saw any!!

Fantastic Holiday

Just returned from Sa Mirada apartments, with my family 2 adults and 2 children. What a fantastic holiday, I can't beleive what people moan about. Our room was spacious with two bedrooms (unlike many we have stayed in when a pull out bed is used in the living room, with no storage at all !!!!) both rooms had adequate storage wardrobes, and bunks beds were great for the kids. Clean room with air conditioning in living area, but if you leave bedrooms doors slightly open it cools them down too. Only holiday that we have never had to rush for sun beds you can go to the pool any time of the day and find a sun bed, a very relaxing holiday, food great at pool side bar. Met some very nice families. I would recommend this complex and would return in the near future. The people that complain about space should go to the 5* resorts as they are that picky!!!!!!!

Run Down

Returned from the Sa Mirada on 7th August. We are 2 adults and 3 children 13,8 & 6 all in one tiny apartment. When we walked in i didn't know where we going to put all our belongings there wasn't enough drawer space etc ouR eldest son had to live out of a suitcase to 2 weeks it was so cramped. the bathroom was always a drama in the evening trying to wash 2 young boys was a nightmare as whilst supervising them you were sat on the toilet with the sink up your backside and i have to add that we are not huge people. My partner was always the last one to shower and by his turn there was no hot water left we even tried making all 3 boys share one lot of bath water which helped abit but didn't go down very well with the 13 year old as you can imagine!!. There were ants everywhere in the kitchen, bathroom, wardrobe and the last straw was when they were crawling in the bed.Reception gave us spray which we used constantly on our stay. the balcony was also very small you couldn't really sit out, the shutter came off in my hand one day. We were positioned right on the front and at night when people were walking back it could be very noisy especially the dustbin lorry early hours of the morning. The bar staff are so miserable and everthing seemed to be an effort. the food and the prices we thought were not too bad such a shame there is no customer service at all it is a take it or leave it attitude. The apartment almost had an air of closure about it couldn't really put my finger on it but somethings not quite right. Saying all that about the apartment that aside the pool area and the views are amazing we never had a bad meal once when we were there. Or favourite place to eat was Whites Bar,fantastic garlic chicken, grilled pork lion for 9euro's and a fab view, also worth trying are The Good Bridge cafe, Romani (baked pork). the Irish bar always provided good entertainment particully liked Robbie Williams tribute(sangria is good here). We have booked next years holiday in Arenal as the resort is briliant for families but we will not be going back to Sa mirada.DO IT INDEPENDANTLY....MUCH CHEAPER TOO.

we stayed at the sa mirada appartments for two weeks, first impression of the accomadation was total dissapointment, the room was small the bathroom was tiny you could have sat on the toilet washed your hands and shampooed your hair all at the same time, we are a family of 5 two adults and three children 11,9,5, the rooms were dirty the bed linning wasnt clean, when we recieved clean towels they still seemed dirty,we tried to get moved srtaight away but there wasnt any other options available, i was quite prepaired to pay what ever it took to be moved, the area of Arenal it self is lovely, which all most made it worse when we had to return to the room, we spent only basic times in the room where as in the past my wife and i would have put the children to bed and enjoyed a drink on the balcony, but the balcony was only just big enough to air the towels, the bar area wasnt much better they had one person serving and the same person cooking the food so if you were unluky enough to want a drink at the same time as someone had ordered food you had to wait until the food was ready.
We went down to the sister hotel for a couple days around the pool, to say these were sister hotels was difficult as they were completly different the Paradiso had a great kids club plenty of bar staff, and a whole cleaner feel about it i only wish we had stayed here.
I will return to Arenal as it is beautiful but under no circumstances would i return to the Sa mirada.
This is the first review i have done and hope it will help people paying a big chunk of money to make the correct decesion.

1st time to menorca, thought it was great, only two things i had a problem with 1,not any use for people with mobility problems i have athritis and getting back up the hill to our apartment was sore on the joints,2nd,dont use the taxi's due to hill i got a taxi from the irish bar to our apartment .3 of a kilometor to smithy's bar €8.65c total rip off, dont entertain them at these prices,we were staying in room 621,3 minor repairs were needed when we arrived,2 hours later all 3 were fixed with a sorry and a smile, the places for eating were pretty good,we went to the wikiki bar 3 course meal €19.00 each well worth it,drinks were a rip off though total bill with 5 drinks €67.00,the goody goody bar is great for the kids with ok bar prices,i would not recommend the austrialian bar too pricy and no entertainment,we hired a car for a week, before we left cheaper to book here,£125 the roads are very good not much traffic on them,if you hire a car travel to cuitedela(excuse the spelling for this place)they have a lidl and you can get all your shopping less than half price if you are self catering,if you go to smithy's you will need to take your own beer mats from another pub (too mean to buy any for the bar)would go back but only if i could get somewhere more flat.

We came back from a one week stay in Menorca and had read the bad reviews on here and the good ones. so we were wondering what we were in for. i can honestly say the bad reviews are from people who are either very very very picky (small bathroom- how much time DO you spend in there?!)or very very very unlucky, as these apartments were clean, quiet, suitable for purpose. Ok they're basic and i wouldn't recommend trying your luck doing a big family dinner on the piddly little oven but it's manageable! it is hilly and we have a toddler but it's no problem with a buggy.
All in all a great stay, i thoroughly recommend it. great for families- if you're a couple though with no kids i'd recommend going down to dinner as late as you can cos if you go at 6.30 most of the kids are having their tea and even those of us as mummies can see it would be a bit of a nightmare to have a romantic meal in the restuarant at that time!!

unfortunately due to xl airways going bust. We had to book a really quick holiday, and thats how we ended up in menorca! neither me or my partner were overly exited but actually had a really lovely week! apartments were clean kitchen and bathroom small! gutted that there was no tv but probably a good thing as we explored the island a bit better food was expensive but always lovely!! smithys is good for food, also we ate a lot at the cocktail bar, the irish bar is good for entertainment australian bar massively expensive!! beach was gorgeous and very clean!!! overall was a lovely holiday and nice friendly staff at the hotel! would definetly go back.

No problems at all, the bathroom is a bit small but I'm 6'2 and didn't have any trouble with it. It is hilly but we had a 1yr old in a buggy and I enjoyed the walks down to the beach etc. The only warning is if you have a ground floor apt don't leave clothes out at night to dry, I had 3 t-shirts nicked but apparently this is not a common thing, just my luck. Overall I would stay there again and next time for 2 weeks as a week was not long enough.

just came back from a one week stay at sa mirada with my two daughters. had a great holiday , weather was fantastic and the beach was well worth the walk. apartments were clean and quite adequate. swimming pool was brilliant for children and very clean.best places to eat were goodbridge cafe and smithys but did have to reserve seats day before. air conditioning was free and essential.did have a problem with ants in the apartment CRAWLING ACROSS THE BED but let reception know and they gave us insect spray ,which we fumigated the rooms with and killed all them for the whole week.very hot at night and if you kept the windows open and the shutters shut we were woken up every night by the dustman in their diesel lorry chugging up the road and empting all the bins along the road. for children and adults dont miss a trip to 'Somni' which is a horse show and absoulutely fantastic and well worth the money.for evening entertainment visit isla paraiso hotel which had parrot shows and chinese acrobats among other acts which were very good. would not recommend this place for disabled , or people with babies or young children as its very hilly and steps everywhere.not suitable for single sex holidays as no nightlife and most bars shut at 12.brilliant for families with children over about 5. would visit this resort again.

Sep 2008, Mr Adam Day

Our room was clean and comfortable. The rep was very helpful and friendly as were the staff on reception. The view from the pool was outstanding although the food from the pool bar was poor and red wine served cold?!
Breakfast at Sa Mirada was revolting but the food at the sister hotel isla paraso was brilliant!
We stayed for a week with 2 small children and found it a perfect place for families no rowdy teenagers and no noisy nightclubs.
The beach was a 15 min walk away although could be accessed by steps (if you dont have buggy). There are steps all over the resort but there are slopes too it just takes a little forward planning of your route.
The shops bars and cafes were all really good but must mention Waikiki and the Good bridge cafe.Dont bother reserving a table at Smithys as the food was cold late and not what it said on the menu.
Goody Goody is the bar with huge bouncy castle a bit pricey at 3.50 euros for 2 hours but they will be a lovely quite 2 hours while your kids run riot you can enjoy great snacks and drinks with a beautiful view.
Overall good holiday would def go again.

After reading most of the comments before we went to the Sa Mirada we were completely dreading walking into the apartment for the first time but were pleasantly surprised.
This was our first family holiday abroad with our girls, 7 and 5 and we loved every minute of it.
The room was clean, including the fridge and kitchen area, it smelt very clean and fresh, the beds were firm but thats not a bad thing and certainly didn't hinder any sleep, could have been much worse and the linen seemed very fresh!!
Yes the bathroom was small, but hey how much time to you actually spend in there!! It served its purpose. There were a few ants, but thats Menorca!! They are everywhere!! I noticed the maids had tins of ant spray, so must spray the rooms when they cleaned them.
We arrived on the Friday and had clean beds and towels on the following, Tuesday, Saturday and again on the Tuesday, what more can you ask, stay in this country self catering and you have the same bed linen for 2 weeks so we were very happy with the service.
Sa Mirada was at the back of the resort, but certainly not out of it, it had lovely views from the pool area and our apartment and was just pleasantly away enough to avoid any noise from neighbouring apartments with entertainment on. We had entertainment a couple of times each week which was enough, if we wanted to see anything we walked to the Isla Paraiso, the sister hotel which was about 5 mins stroll, certainly not down a big hill!!! James Brown was absolutely FAB!! so if you see a poster for him, go for it, even our 2 kids were clapping along, but there were a few dodgy acts including a threesome singing english songs (or lets say killing them), amused us nevertheless and the kids disco which was held at the Isla Paraiso was a bit unfair as the reps were talking to our kids in german first and there seemed no sign of any germans around.
The beach was a pleasant stroll too, we certainly didn't find it a major hike or problem to get to and from especially if you walk round and don't use the steps, there were 2 or three different ways to get to it. But like most we spent most of it round the pool which was very clean, always plentyful beds and good atmosphere.
Eating wasn't over cheap, but we didn't think it was anything more than what you would pay for here, certainly the snacks at Sa Mirada were very reasonable, a cheese toastie for 2 euros or a hamburger with egg, bacon, salad and cheese with chips for 4 euros!! The drinks weren't unreasonable either.
The only problem was it was mainly chips with everything!! and they were generally deep fried!! The kids meals were all very similar, fish fingers/beefburger/chicken nuggets/spaghetti bolognaise and CHIPS!!! but were quite reasonable ranging from 3 euros upto about 4.50 euros. But the deserts were well received and all reasonable.
Our fave place to eat was the Good Bridge Cafe, the kids loved the waiters who were very friendly. But we were glad to get back to a good Sunday lunch.
Breakfast at the Sa Mirada was good if you got down there early!! It was 5.50 euros for adults, 3 euros for kids and free for under 6's. and you could eat and drink as much as you liked. Leave it till late on, then i guess it will be cold and dried up.
The staff were all very friendly and the Thomas Cook rep, Lesley couldn't do anymore to help if she tried. Was always around if you needed her, but not pushy in any way to try and get you to book the trips.
Our fave place to eat was the Good Bridge Cafe, the kids loved the waiters who were very friendly.
We hired a car before we went through auto-europe which was very reasonable, we had to walk to the Aguamarina Hotel at the other side of the resort to pick it up, but was only about 20 mins walk, plenty of places to stop for a drink en route! Well worth doing to see the rest of the island, our favourite place on the island was Fornells, the next resort along the North Coast, after that Cuitadella, certainly worth a visit.
Oh yeah of course, the sun it shone EVERDAY!! what else do we go for!!!
All in all a great first family holiday in the sun and we would return again for sure one day, too many places to try first though.
