Fantastic hotel in a great location on the sea front in Marbella. The staff were very friendly and helpful (and most of them speak English). The rooms were very clean, spacious and comfortable (we had a balcony with a side-view to the ocean). The buffet breakfasts were... more

My girlfriend and I stayed her for 5days in november 2007. The weather was great for november and the hotel was right on the beach. Because of the time of year it wasnt very busy and was quite windy on the beach and around the pool. The pool is not very big but lovely and... more

Great location, needs some upgrades.
You can't argue with this hotel's location --right on the beach, at the very end of Marbella's walking/restaurant promenade. Very easy access to great restaurants (try Jaipur...best Indian food we have ever had!). The hotel also has private beach chairs and umbrellas for guests only, which is a definite advantage. The room, however, could have used some TLC. While the bathroom was fine and looked recently remodelled, the bedroom part was a bit shabby. The carpet was stained, and the blanket in between the sheets was torn and nubby. Our terrace was useless due to the bird excrement all over it (including on the chairs). Nonetheless, this isn't really enough to tarnish my image and I would stay again if I found myself in Marbella. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great Hotel
My wife and I are just back from a 14 day stay at the Fuerte Miramar Spa. We are delighted with everything. The Hotel is 4 star and lived up to it in every way. We had a room with a sea view overlooking the beach and the harbour. We got the sunrise every morning. The room was spotless, cleaned every day. The breakast was something else with a huge choice (even champagne every morning which we did not partake of). We were half board and found the evening meals so good we ate in the restaraunt every evening. Restaurant staff were very friendly. The hotel put on professional entertainment every night and a pianist played in the bar every evening. It is almost sitting on the beach and 5 minutes walk to the old town. You must go to the Plaza Los Norange. The town is spotless and well kept. We're already speaking of going back to this hotel. To crown it all it was 25 degrees every day and we never saw rain once.
Lived up to expectations
Have just spent 11 nights at the Fuerte Miramar and cannot really fault it. It has all the attributes of a 4* hotel. We had a side sea view room which, whilst not spacious, was plenty big enough to move around in. The balcony provided a view of the fishing harbour and the town and we had the constant sound of the sea. We only ate dinner (buffet) in the hotel on the night of our arrival and found it more than adequate. Breakfasts provide the usual choices with the addition of champagne on several mornings (not many takers that I noticed!) and eggs cooked to order. The staff were all friendly; the hotel was kept spotless; and it's only a short walk to the Old Town and a myriad choice of excellent restaurants. We would go back.
Overall a great hotel
The hotel was great, the staff/service, great.. the location (in terms of the beach) couldn't be beat! The pool was good too.. The only thing that was negative, which, unfortunately, overwhelmed the experience was that the hallways were saturated with the smell of cigarette smoke and our room, although didn't smell like that, it smelled like whatever strong chemical they use to get rid of the smoke smell! Being that we don't smoke (and in LA are not used to being around it all that much) this was something we couldn't ignore.. The hotel doesn't have non-smoking rooms (don't think most other hotels do either) but we stayed in other hotels throughout our travels in Spain and have been to other parts in Europe as well and this was the worst. The first time it actually bothered us to the point I figured I should let others know. Otherwise, the hotel itself is very nice.
Really enjoyed it
We stayed here for a week in July. The Hotel itself is really nice. It is a modern hotel, really clean and the staff are very helpul. We had to wait 10 minutes to be checked in and so we were upgraded to a sea view room. The hotel is actually on the beach and in an excellent location with regard to shops and restaurants etc. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, the breakfast was fab, everything you could think of, even a glass of champagne! The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was not in relation to the hotel but the rent a bike shop. It is about 2 miles from the hotel nr burger king. We hired a moped out for 3 days. You have to give 100 euro cash deposit which we drew out of the cash machine on the way to the shop, this is then stapled to your contract. Upon dropping the moped back off we were given our deposit back. It wasnt until we returned to the hotel that we found one of the 50 euro notes was nothing but a photocopy and didnt have any staple marks in like the real one did. We immediately went back to the shop and were told that there was a 'dodgy' batch of notes going round and we must have been given it by the bank!!! When I pointed out that it didnt have any staple marks in he all of a sudden couldnt understand any english!! This was extremely frustrating, but I suppose you learn from these mistakes, so just beware....................... Apart from that Marbella is beautiful and we are definately going back next year, I would definately recommend it.
First time in Marbella
Just a quick note to say this is definitely the best hotel in marbella. Okay its not as plush as the Gvadalpin or the Don Pepe, but then again its not a 15 minute walk to the promenade. The hotel is spotless and very chilled out, just what we were looking for. Da Brunos is fab, and do try Khan in Puerto Banus - Best indian in the area. We stayed for 14 nights and could have stayed more. We will be returning again to the Fuerte Miramar Spa, this time for longer! Any questions, feel free to ask.
generally good but watch out at reception!
Just back from a short break at this hotel and as I booked based on trip reviews thought I would add my own! The hotel was generally fine but I was expecting something more from a 4 star hotel - I think maybe its just in need of a little modernisation although nothing was shabby. However this said it is in a good location and is very clean. The pool looked good but is in the shadow of the hotel from the afternoon on. A word of warning - I booked and paid via the web but when I checked out of the hotel they tried to charge me again saying the agency had not paid them so I would have to pay again and take it up with the agency. Not too happy about that as you may guess and I was left to make all the calls - the hotel staff were apologetic but not that helpful. Thankfully I left without paying a second time and hoping I don't get some extra charge I don't know about on my next credit card bill! Additionally, myself and another guest had the problem that the staff had retained our booking confirmation paperwork so when there was a problem we had no supporting documents - so be careful and ask for them back - you may need them! Don't let this put you off - just be aware! :-)
Great hotel
Just returned from a great holiday at the El Fuerte Miramar Spa. The hotel was spotlessly clean and quiet, and contrary to some previous reports the majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. Because of a mix up on our booking by Thomsons (TUI), we were upgraded to full sea view free of charge by the hotel - and the view over the beach was fantastic. Breakfast offered a wide and varied choice (was especially impressed by the champagne on offer each morning!) Our room was very spacious and well equipped - though a kettle would have been nice. Only gripe was the late start of the in house entertainment - 10.30/10.45 each night - which is especially late when the children want to see the flamenco. Do have dinner at Da Fabios on the promenade about 5 mins from hotel - food is wonderful and the waiters are delicious! Try the El Fuerte for a change of pace in the evenings, and very grand surroundings. Hope to return to the El Fuerte Miramar - no problems giving it a thorough recommendation.
good location
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for the easter break We found the staff very friendly nothing was to much trouble We picked this hotel for its location which was great however I have stayed in better 4* hotels the rooms were on the small side the breakfast was very good as was the service not a very big area around the pool. The best part was the spa we booked for 4 and had the whole place to ourselves it was superb. On the whole a very nice hotel break.
Another great El Fuerte hotel
Just returned from this hotel - contrary to other reports we found the staff friendly and welcoming - the pace is a bit Spanish but this is the plus of this hotel it does have a Spanish character. Don't eat in the hotel - we didn't - there are restaurants to suit every taste within 10 minutes walk - a quick word for Otro Mundo - fabulous fusion food at 23£ for three courses - outshone my previous favourite La Gloria - both within a few minutes of Orange Square. The pool and beach at the hotel are fine and towels are provided for both at no charge as are sunbeds on the beach. We were also given great rooms - one corner with sea view in two directions at a ridiculously low price - cheaper than the Hostal along the road. If you stay here try leaving the hotel onto the promenade and turning left out of town - at the beginning of the season a tapas bar had just opened and fish restaurants at the marina.
