We were moved to this hotel by Thomas Cook as our original hotel Hesperia had apparently over booked by 21 rooms! However we were only informed of this 15 hours before our flight! On opening the room door (051) we were met by a stale smell, ants on the balcony, dirty kitchen area (if you can call it a kitchen area), holes in the wall, a balcony door which did not lock and air con which did not work. When we complained to the Receptionist (with limited English) we were told air con was fine and that we had to stay there! Eventually moved to room 010 after much complaining to the Rep. Room was slightly bigger, on the bottom floor - I am not keen on being on the bottom floor of a hotel due to the risk of being broken into, however other travellers in the same position as us were broken into on the 5th floor (!!!!) What swung it for us was having air con which remotely worked.
We were met on return to our room one night to a river in the corridor coming from a leak in the ceiling, when we reported this nobody did anything....until 2 hours later and the ceiling fell through! Only then, they lay down a sheet and it was like this for another 2 days.
Room was cleaned only once during 7 nights - this was only because we complained about not having any cllean towels!
Food is atrocious, dining room is grubby, Manager is rude, location is at the top of a mountain behind the Irish Square. Not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
Never again, it is rated the same as the Hesperia, but dont be fooled - there is a WORLD of difference between the two. This was the only hotel in the whole of Santa Ponsa that had at least 21 rooms available at short notice - this says it all!
- Advice: Visit Irish Square every night.

We arrived back on Monday after a weeks stay at the D'or Jardin de Playa, as a family of four (two young children aged 6 and 3)we can only say it was great, all the staff we very helpful and the Hotel was great with perfect views. Only 2 minuites walk from the square where there is plenty of entertainment and is ideal for both children and adults. We are now looking to book again next year. Happy holidays!!!

justback from a week stay at the jardin de playa. our fight was delayed for two hours so we didn't arrive until nearly midnight. when we arrived in our room we were pleasantly pleased to find a meal of salad, meats, cheese and fruit awaiting us.
our room was on the second floor and the key wasn't working. we prefer to be up on a higher floor and when i approached the receptionist about this it was no problem and he moved us up to the fourth floor.
the accommodation is of a good size. a small kitchen area with a fridge, really handy for having cold drinks and ice pops on hand, two rings for cooking which i didn't use at all. good size living area with a table and four chairs, a large sideboard, sofa bed with a pull out bed underneath, 2 chairs, a coffee table and tv. the balcony was a good big area but not very private if anyone next door is out at the same time.
The bedroom had no air conditioning and the beds are really uncomfortable, so me and my husband didn't have a great sleep at all for the duration of our stay.
the staff at the hotel are really good. always happy and ready for a carry on with the kids, i personally believe they were better than the girl that is employed as thechildrens entertainer.she's a nice girl but too quiet.
food at the hotel was lovely, plenty of choice every night but avoid going down at the start of meal times or you can wait up to half an hour on the queue to calm down a bit.
the only complaint i had was thelack of maid service. towels only get changed every two days. anywhere i have stayed in the past towels were changed every day and the room cleaned up a little. maids did not look at the room at all except every other day to change the towels.
the pool is a good size and gets has different depths so suitable for all ages. lifeguard on duty all day and likes to play about with the children. the first few days we arrived we were in no hurry to get to the pool but midweek new crowd of people arrived and they started a trend of going down really early to save beds. saying that we never had any problem getting a few and having a space to lie.
the square is only a few minutes away and is handy at night for entertainment. didn't stay in the hotel for entertainment at all. fifteen minute walk to the main town area and beach.
there is a supermarket just up behind the square where the water is really cheap and cans of coke and fanta are only 54cents. some places charge up to 2euros for them!!
would stay at this hotel again.

Guys,
if you book this place, dont worry about any previous ropey reviews the place is brilliant for a family!!!. We just returned last night after the best 7 days half board accomodation we have had in the Balearics. All the staff in the hotel are great aprt from the pool man who has a problem with letting people get access to the sun loungers too early in the morning and therefore creates a rush at about 8.15am ( dont worry though along with the Scots and the Irish we beat the Germans at their own game and got the best sites!). Pool is gorgeous, lovely size and temperature is spot on. If you want to stay in the sun all day its best to get the loungers at the bottom next to the cove or the 'snack shack'. (incidentally the snack shack serves some of the fastest pizzas i've seen on holiday and would push Dominoes for speed of service). Prices for drinks are pretty reasonable as well with about 3 euros for a pint but again you have self catering facilities in the rooms so you can stock up at the supermarket if you want as there is no hassle with taking your own cans to the pool if you want to (alochol or pop - local supermarket you can get local beer for 29cents a can (330ml) or 53 cents for pop(coke etc)).
The hotel itself is on the quieter side of the resort and therefore great for families but there could be a lot of walking involved if you want to go to the main centre, but theres plenty available in the square to keep it local.
We didnt eat out at all during the week because we found that the meals were that good in the hotel, they were all a buffet style but well cooked and lots of different things each night. This is a pretty big surprise for someone who has been doing the all inclusive rounds for the last few years and they were pretty damn good.
Hotel tip: the annex block has a lift that if you use to floor 4 there is a door on to the street which saves you having to climb the steps.
Overall i would recommend this hotel and this resort to all families as i know for a fact i will be booking to go again.

We didnt really relax on holiday as we were on a hen party...The hotel was lovely, along with the weather. It was very relaxing to lie around the pool, the atmosphere was lovely. The pool was big and at the right temp!
We didnt really eat in the hotel, except from one breakfast which was quite nice.
Drinks were all lovely and cold.
The Staff were very plesent and a good help. One thing which could of been better was our rooms only got cleaned once every other day... we need new towels :)
I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent location, right next to the sea. We had a pool and sea view and it was lovely. The apartments are basic but have evrything you need. The pool is a little cold but I think that's just because it's April. Lots of nice walks around the headland. Near to the sqaure and lots of nice restaurants. Don't got to El Sombrero - food is terrible. El Jardin and Manolos and El Pegolos are really good. I would definately go back to Santa Ponsa and the Jardin DE Playa. They look like the best apartments in Santa Ponsa.

We arrived on the Tuesday evening; it was raining and thunder and lightning which was nice to arrive to!
We were all starving and went for something to eat. It was disgusting; the steak was red and tasted awful. We tried a good few places and the food wasn’t nice at all. We got breakfast out of Katie’s kitchen, which was nice and the lady was very pleasant.
The steps down to the apartment were a nightmare; about 50 steps down.
The pool was freezing and the indoor pool wasn’t open.
We are going home tomorrow and I have 2 say I wouldn’t ever come back here, sorry if any 1 has it booked.

Don’t go here if you have difficulties walking or getting about!
The coach drops you off at the top of a very steep drive and you have to take your own luggage down when you arrive and back up again at the end of your holiday, without any assistance.
The only other option is a set of about forty steps.
At the end of April this part of Santa Ponsa was very quiet and it was quite a walk to the livelier beach (Platya) area.
This is a basic 3 star apartment complex - it is clean and acceptable. The apartment had been repainted and re-tiled recently but the furniture and lamps were still shabby.
Towels were replaced every couple of days but were quite threadbare. The kitchen consisted of a two-ring hob, fridge and ordinary kettle which had to be heated on hob.
Our room had a balcony with nice sea views. Mattresses very hard. TV had only two English language channels - Sky News or CNN. Extra charge for hire of electric kettle, iron, safe etc.
Don't expect luxury accommodation. If you are on a budget holiday then you can have a pleasant stay at this complex - but be prepared to have to put in a bit of effort to get about.

After I had booked this holiday and read the reviews I was beginning to worry about the hotel and location of it. There seemed to be more bad reviews than good ones!! I traveled with my boyfriend and 8 other friends and none of us were disappointed with the hotel or location.
The hotel was lovely and clean and looked as though it had been newly refurbished! The rooms were large (we did not have a balcony but 2 couples from our group did) However all rooms were of equal standard. The rooms were cleaned every other day, and fresh towels were given. The hotel bar was nice and the staff made up the friendly atmosphere. The reception staff seemed to be less accommodating than the bar staff.
We went in March....BIG MISTAKE! We had one warm day and we were wearing the same jumpers all week as we only took one! Both pools are clean and spacious (the out door pool is freezing).
The location is great. A five minute walk will take you to restaurants and bars but the stretch of road carries on for a half an hour walk which we didn’t mind. Our favourite bars were: The Auld Triangle (5mins stagger from hotel go in here its got great atmosphere), A-ha bar and snoopy's! We'd happily go again but not in march.
The beach is a 20 minute walk.

Good hotel but showing signs of wear. Food was plentiful and good quality, even if the choice was a bit limited.
Staff were very helpful and were very good with the kids. The rooms were cleaned about once every three days. Pool was beautiful if a bit cool, but that didn't stop the kids.
Excellent position in the quieter end of Santa Ponsa at the far end of the square. The resort is well laid out with plenty of space to wander around.

A very large group of family went on holiday in July. The hotel was very nice. Rooms were fine apart from kitchen area which was a bit pokey. We had heard of apartments being robbed which was a concern. On the second night it happened! One of our apartments was ransacked. Nothing taken so it seems like they were only looking for money. A family with three children, one baby, coming home to that. Not good. There was no breakin which was a bit unsettling. As we had approx. 16 apartments you can imagine how many of us there were. We all voiced our concerns at reception, loudly! Thankfully it didn't happen again but did leave a sour taste. One big issue I had was with the pool bar. Very handy and food was fab but it closed before four o'clock each day. This was a bug minus because most days we wouldn't leave the pool til near seven. I don't understand that as they would have made a killing if they'd kept it open until even six???? No entertainment in the hotel so you always had to go out. The beach is a bit of a distance but wouldn't stop me coming back here. Overall though, a very enjoyable holiday. Centre of Santa Ponsa was a nice stroll away or two minutes in a taxi if you wish, €5.00. Would definately return.
