Aparthotel d'Or Jardin de Playa Reviews
" jardin de playa "
Submitted By: ll007our room was on the second floor and the key wasn't working. we prefer to be up on a higher floor and when i approached the receptionist about this it was no problem and he moved us up to the fourth floor.
the accommodation is of a good size. a small kitchen area with a fridge, really handy for having cold drinks and ice pops on hand, two rings for cooking which i didn't use at all. good size living area with a table and four chairs, a large sideboard, sofa bed with a pull out bed underneath, 2 chairs, a coffee table and tv. the balcony was a good big area but not very private if anyone next door is out at the same time.
The bedroom had no air conditioning and the beds are really uncomfortable, so me and my husband didn't have a great sleep at all for the duration of our stay.
the staff at the hotel are really good. always happy and ready for a carry on with the kids, i personally believe they were better than the girl that is employed as thechildrens entertainer.she's a nice girl but too quiet.
food at the hotel was lovely, plenty of choice every night but avoid going down at the start of meal times or you can wait up to half an hour on the queue to calm down a bit.
the only complaint i had was thelack of maid service. towels only get changed every two days. anywhere i have stayed in the past towels were changed every day and the room cleaned up a little. maids did not look at the room at all except every other day to change the towels.
the pool is a good size and gets has different depths so suitable for all ages. lifeguard on duty all day and likes to play about with the children. the first few days we arrived we were in no hurry to get to the pool but midweek new crowd of people arrived and they started a trend of going down really early to save beds. saying that we never had any problem getting a few and having a space to lie.
the square is only a few minutes away and is handy at night for entertainment. didn't stay in the hotel for entertainment at all. fifteen minute walk to the main town area and beach.
there is a supermarket just up behind the square where the water is really cheap and cans of coke and fanta are only 54cents. some places charge up to 2euros for them!!
would stay at this hotel again.
" Guys,
if you book this place,... "
if you book this place, dont worry about any previous ropey reviews the place is brilliant for a family!!!. We just returned last night after the best 7 days half board accomodation we have had in the Balearics. All the staff in the hotel are great aprt from the pool man who has a problem with letting people get access to the sun loungers too early in the morning and therefore creates a rush at about 8.15am ( dont worry though along with the Scots and the Irish we beat the Germans at their own game and got the best sites!). Pool is gorgeous, lovely size and temperature is spot on. If you want to stay in the sun all day its best to get the loungers at the bottom next to the cove or the 'snack shack'. (incidentally the snack shack serves some of the fastest pizzas i've seen on holiday and would push Dominoes for speed of service). Prices for drinks are pretty reasonable as well with about 3 euros for a pint but again you have self catering facilities in the rooms so you can stock up at the supermarket if you want as there is no hassle with taking your own cans to the pool if you want to (alochol or pop - local supermarket you can get local beer for 29cents a can (330ml) or 53 cents for pop(coke etc)).
The hotel itself is on the quieter side of the resort and therefore great for families but there could be a lot of walking involved if you want to go to the main centre, but theres plenty available in the square to keep it local.
We didnt eat out at all during the week because we found that the meals were that good in the hotel, they were all a buffet style but well cooked and lots of different things each night. This is a pretty big surprise for someone who has been doing the all inclusive rounds for the last few years and they were pretty damn good.
Hotel tip: the annex block has a lift that if you use to floor 4 there is a door on to the street which saves you having to climb the steps.
Overall i would recommend this hotel and this resort to all families as i know for a fact i will be booking to go again.

Drinks were all lovely and cold.
The Staff were very plesent and a good help. One thing which could of been better was our rooms only got cleaned once every other day... we need new towels :)
I would recommend this hotel.

Submitted By: Miss J HowdenWe were all starving and went for something to eat. It was disgusting; the steak was red and tasted awful. We tried a good few places and the food wasn’t nice at all. We got breakfast out of Katie’s kitchen, which was nice and the lady was very pleasant.
The steps down to the apartment were a nightmare; about 50 steps down.
The pool was freezing and the indoor pool wasn’t open.
We are going home tomorrow and I have 2 say I wouldn’t ever come back here, sorry if any 1 has it booked.

Submitted By: Mrs R SavageThe coach drops you off at the top of a very steep drive and you have to take your own luggage down when you arrive and back up again at the end of your holiday, without any assistance.
The only other option is a set of about forty steps.
At the end of April this part of Santa Ponsa was very quiet and it was quite a walk to the livelier beach (Platya) area.
This is a basic 3 star apartment complex - it is clean and acceptable. The apartment had been repainted and re-tiled recently but the furniture and lamps were still shabby.
Towels were replaced every couple of days but were quite threadbare. The kitchen consisted of a two-ring hob, fridge and ordinary kettle which had to be heated on hob.
Our room had a balcony with nice sea views. Mattresses very hard. TV had only two English language channels - Sky News or CNN. Extra charge for hire of electric kettle, iron, safe etc.
Don't expect luxury accommodation. If you are on a budget holiday then you can have a pleasant stay at this complex - but be prepared to have to put in a bit of effort to get about.

Submitted By: gemmagilbThe hotel was lovely and clean and looked as though it had been newly refurbished! The rooms were large (we did not have a balcony but 2 couples from our group did) However all rooms were of equal standard. The rooms were cleaned every other day, and fresh towels were given. The hotel bar was nice and the staff made up the friendly atmosphere. The reception staff seemed to be less accommodating than the bar staff.
We went in March....BIG MISTAKE! We had one warm day and we were wearing the same jumpers all week as we only took one! Both pools are clean and spacious (the out door pool is freezing).
The location is great. A five minute walk will take you to restaurants and bars but the stretch of road carries on for a half an hour walk which we didn’t mind. Our favourite bars were: The Auld Triangle (5mins stagger from hotel go in here its got great atmosphere), A-ha bar and snoopy's! We'd happily go again but not in march.
The beach is a 20 minute walk.

Submitted By: Mr D BarnesStaff were very helpful and were very good with the kids. The rooms were cleaned about once every three days. Pool was beautiful if a bit cool, but that didn't stop the kids.
Excellent position in the quieter end of Santa Ponsa at the far end of the square. The resort is well laid out with plenty of space to wander around.

Submitted By: Mrs S LilleyIt was also a good distance from the main restaurants, close enough to walk, and far enough to not hear people! We got a wonderful room, with a sea view, which was stunning at night.
The only drawback was when it rained so much!
I'd definitely recommend this hotel, and look forward to going back this summer.

Submitted By: Miss P O'neillThe only down fall of our holiday (I went with my mother) was the weather, it was cold!!!! Bit gutted over that, but we can’t control the elements!!!
Santa Ponsa and Palma nova have great restaurants I would highly recommend, AMEADUS in Santa Ponsa and the DUKE OF YORK. In Palma Nova NATALIE'S & ---- DIANA. The latter are both English owned and on the main beach strip, the food was amazing!!
I would highly recommend Majorca, but in the warmer seasons!!! Enjoy xxx

Submitted By: Mrs T MorganThe staff were very helpful and the hotel was quiet by midnight, which meant if you wanted an early night you could have one undisturbed. All the entertainment of The 'Square' was very nearby and a short walk down the hill into the main area of Santa Ponsa provided lots more to do. There were plenty of places to eat nearby.
Overall I think the hotel was good budget accommodation, in a lovely location, although it's worth saying that the 'beach' near the hotel was very very small, and not really suitable for normal beach activities. <br>
