I liked Edmark, it’s true the accommodation is basic, but this is not the most expensive hotel to stay in and is no different from accommodation to be found all over Greece. It may be lacking in glamour and luxury but this is reflected in the price. The Edmark provided us with everything we needed for a fab holiday, and we have three kids.
We have stayed on several Greek islands and the smell is present everywhere, their sewage system is not very efficient, an unpleasant smell in the bathroom, does not ruin your holiday, just shut the door.
I agree with a previous review, the food varied from delicious to a bit strange. But there was always plenty of it.
Ed and Christina (husband and wife and part owners) were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, we forgot to bring a charger for our sons Nintendo DS, Ed advised us to go into Kos and buy a car charger and he would charge it up for us in his car!! Brilliant.
The pool was great, with loads of sun loungers - my kids became very good at table tennis, it was too hot to take advantage of the badminton and tennis courts.
It is all a matter of perception, the hotel has everything you will need to totally enjoy your holiday, like we did. I think the previous reviews had a deeper seated problem than thin pillows and an unpleasant smell, these things do not ruin your holiday.
If you go expecting a small, basic, friendly, family run hotel you will not be disappointed. Take a leaf out of the Greeks book, relax, raise a glass of ouzo and enjoy...Yamas!!

This hotel was such a disappointment! The facilities are so basic and you have to pay extra for any additional 'luxury' such as air conditioning (in 37 degree heat). We arrived at 4am in the morning and though greeted in a friendly manner had to carry heavy bags to our rooms- no help granted. We had a sheet on the bed and 1 extra sheet was left on the bed to sleep under. The pillows were very thin and the beds did not make for a comfortable sleep.
Probably the worst discovery was that the nearby sewage treatment works filled our rooms with the most disgusting smell of raw sewage on a daily basis. The idea of sipping cocktails on the balcony was less than appealing under the circumstances. The hotel was advertised as having great views of the Aegean Sea and the mountains of Turkey from the bar terrace- this was not true! The beach is an approx 5-7 minute walk away (close enough for comfort but the advert is not accurate as no such views).
The food was variable- the breakfast was continental and basic (eggs etc must be paid for); dinners were awful on some days (unrecognizable meat) and very good on others. One highlight was a friendly and helpful receptionist called Christina- she was an angel in disguise and definitely helped make the whole experience slightly less bad. However, the other staff were strange, impolite, simply grunted 'curtsies' on passing and generally made us feel as though we were intruding on their property for most of time.
We wanted to leave halfway through our holiday because of all of this and we have been looking forward to this holiday for a long time. I don't believe for a moment that this is a 3star hotel (there own brochures don't even mention any stars) and I would never ever go there again!

WE HAD THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER!
We were greeted by the night porter, we always brightened his night with whatever time we staggered in at (good job he remembered our room number, he did a good job of looking after that key!).
The staff were so friendly (hi ed!) and the hotel was basic but definitely recommendable! Were two party animals that like to have a good time and we definitely had a helping hand with Eds super strong cocktails! Ed took us out for a night, don’t remember a lot about that, except vague memories of a journey home on the back of a motorbike screaming!
Just a short bus ride to town for a lively night out in Kos town we would recommend dancing on the bar in Molly Malones (or falling off it!) although those guys at charisma are pretty persuasive!
If your into beaches the best beach to go is in town, its a bit hidden but if you find Jackson’s bar its just behind that and its good for young people that want to have a laugh and sunbathe off their hangover (beware you might be thrown into the sea headfirst!)
the hotel food was what we looked forward to after a night out the apple juice in the morning really took the taste of long island ice tea away (especially after one hours sleep!). The food at night was delicious with lots to choose from, loving the banana jelly!! We looked forward to our evening meal especially as Ed was always on hand to laugh at our sunburn (mosquito bites) and antics from the night before, especially the bet that he had with the night porter about what time we would roll in at and even make it up for breakfast!!! (The latest we rolled in was 7am you’ve got to try it getting the morning bus with all the Greek workers, saves you a taxi fare!)
overall we had such a good time there we would definitely recommend it to a friend who just wants a good time, and a party holiday for relaxing all day on the beach and partying all night and having a nice hotel to go back to!
The staff made the hotel what it was! Scary fish though there mesmerizing especially after a large glass of red wine on our last night with a hangover (thanks to ED!). What the hotel really nice to stay at was the fact that its family run and the staff go out of their way to get to know you, you're not just another hotel resident, you actually become their friend, we were so sad to say goodbye to Ed and the night porter! And man that was a nasty journey to the airport and home with no sleep the night before, but it was all worth it for the best holiday ever!! Roll on holiday 2006!

First of all woooo!!
Kos is a great place to go, with lovely weather (there’s a breeze!!!) and you get a tan wooo. I can't tell you much about the beaches because I can’t say I went to them as I’m not a very big fan of beaches all that sand in your toes, nah.
Going on to the hotel, I stayed at hotel Edmark, which is a 3 star hotel in Psalidi. The staff at the hotel are very friendly, helpful and fun. There is a pool (which is nice and cool) tennis courts, mini golf, table tennis, netball facilities. The inside of the hotel is nice and cool and bright with no mosquitoes about wooo.
I will be visiting the hotel again. And well done to the staff for making it a great place to be. See you all soon.

Hi i went to this hotel also in 1999 and loved it so much then when i went back there were few changes but i still had a fab holiday it was like visiting a relative because the owners of the hotel remembered me and my family. The pool was regularly cleaned and there is a wee path to the nearby beach. I did play tennis or try to play cause kevin can't even hit the ball but when he did it went sky high, lol. We also hired a nice soft top car from a local dealer which was amasin but the drivers there are mental. Kos is a great place for a holiday and very friendly and very warm. oh an they make a great greek salad n pizza's. Not to mention the cocktails cheap cheap cheap drunk drunk drunk, lol. x
