Hotel Information
Hotel Description:
The Coastline Hotel is set on a gentle slope overlooking the picturesque Salina Bay. Although standing on its own, commanding panoramic views, it is only a short walk to St Paul's Bay. The hotel has 208 guest rooms and half of these overlook the countryside and the other half have sea views. A wide range of facilities are available at the hotel including a spacious lobby, restaurant and bar area.Coastline Hotel Reviews

Tuesday is Champagne Breakfast day when management serve you with a glass of very good champagne to have with your breakfast
Entertainment very good different entertainers each evening. .
Courtesy bus runs often throughout the day and evening to take you into Bugibba where you can catch any of Malta's wonderful buses to anywhere on the island.
The only downside to our stay was that on Saturday Evening a very popular maltese singer is at the hotel and the bar becomes very crowded with maltese coming to dance and listen to him sing. If you want to go on trips to various parts of the Island there is a very good tour operator just accross the road to the left as you get off the courtesy bus. The hotel used to be close to a rubbish tip which closed in 2007 and is now being turned into a very nice landscaped area. We are definitately going again

Submitted By: Mr I ThompsonMy wife is disabled and we had offers of assistance everywhere we went. This last trip was our fourth to the Island, the fourth of many and we intend to be regulars at the Coastline (I thought that the Santana Hotel was good), at least once a year.
In fact our only objection is that children are allowed. most couples we talked to at the time were of the same opinion, it isn't suitable for kids.

Submitted By: Mr W WilsonThere were flies were in the dining room constantly, and in the outside bar areas you needed to cover your drinks.
The stench from the landfill depends on which way the wind blows. I did mention the problem to the staff and was told it was not landfill but an industrial site.
The evening entertainment is poor and repetitive with local talent and there is nothing for children in the evening.
Bus service from the hotel is excellent and I would recommend a 3, 5, or 7 day ticket allowing you to see the rest of the island and keep you away from the smells.
The local farmer also seems to carry out a lot of muck spreading.
Our holiday highlight was the Airtours flights, which were excellent and the check in was good.
I would not go back to this hotel.

Submitted By: Mrs L MaclellanWe were very impressed with the hotel, the rooms were lovely and clean, and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The food was very good and there was a varied menu, if you did not want the buffet at lunchtimes or evening, you could use the La Costa restaurant. We also took advantage of the 50% discount offer to use the a la carte menu, and found that very reasonable, two courses for 2 people worked out about £12.
There was a few activities going on around the pool, and there was also entertainment every evening. If you want to get away from the hotel, they offer a free bus to Buggiba; the only drawback is the last bus returns at 10pm. The hotel also offer a few other trips to Sliema and Valetta.
There was a lot of flies, but this is common in hot countries and did not spoil our holiday.
We are definitely going to return next year and we thought the all inclusive was the best that we have been on.

Submitted By: Mrs L KellyHowever, as soon as we got out of the taxi at the hotel the smell hit us. The receptionist told us that the local farmer had been 'muck spreading' that morning. We accepted this as unfortunate, Malta is a working island, and this couldn't be helped.
My husband disputed this and said it was more like a land fill site smell. Anyway, we got unpacked and went to the pool bar for a cold drink. We couldn't sit there as the amount of flies was unbearable and we had to keep our hands over our drinks.
We battled on through the rest of the day and within reason the hotel was OK. It definitely does not deserve its four star rating, at best I would say a struggling three star.
The only place to sit out in the evening was around the pool. I certainly didn't take my nice clothes to wear in the evening to sit on mucky white plastic chairs. The hotel did have a nice terrace running along the front of the hotel but for some reason this was closed. We were not impressed at all.
The next morning, very early the smell seemed to have disappeared, however, it was short lived. By 10.00 am the vile stench had returned and we couldn't stand another minute. I immediately rang the Thomson 24 hour helpline and asked to move to another resort anywhere else away from the Coastline Hotel.
I didn't care how much it cost there was no way we could have stayed. To their credit within an hour they moved us. Several locals later told us that it was well known that a land fill site was less than 1km from the hotel. You can actually see it smouldering on the hills.
We moved to Sliema to the Fortina Spa hotel. What a difference!! It was like another world and we eventually had a wonderful holiday. We also met another couple of people who had also moved because of the smell.
If Thomson had mentioned the land fill site being so close we most definitely wouldn't have booked the Coastline.
We actually loved Malta and plan to return, the climate is fantastic, the people were so lovely and friendly and very helpful. If we had stayed at the Coastline Hotel, we would have come away from Malta with a different opinion.
My opinion is doing go to the Coastline, there are plenty of other much better places to stay.

Submitted By: Miss B FieldsMe and my family stayed at the Coastline because we got an upgrade over Christmas as Bugibba Holiday complex was not available.
I have to say I was amazed at the difference between the two hotels. We got a great service at the Bugibba, but it was fantastic at the Coastline, although I have to say the room we got was smaller than I'm used to as we normally stay in apartment rooms with kitchenettes.
However, the food was glorious and the service was excellent and I also felt more at home there as some of the waiters I knew were working there while the Holiday Complex was being refurbished!
Although it is in a hilly location, it's easy to get to wherever you want to go as there's a free mini bus that takes you into Bugibba and at the bottom of the huge drive there are two bus stops right outside the hotel.
Although we didn't have a sea view room, from the dining room you have an excellent view of the coast.
The only problem I found was that I couldn't find the games room unfortunately!
The cleaning service was fabulous and your sheets got changed every other day and if you wanted anything all you had to do was ask and it would be there almost immediately.
Also when I had a problem carrying my tray, taking drinks up to the hotel room one of the managers helped me! Although this was after I had made an idiot of myself spilling the drinks on the first tray! But the Manager for that evening simply took my tray and got new drinks for me and even carried the tray to my room for me!
In all, the Coastline definitely deserves its 4* rating as it is an absolute delight to go to and when I have enough money I will definitely be going there again!

Submitted By: Mrs C CockettWe had just had an awful year with redundancy and deaths, a son in a nasty car accident and losing our home. We were desperate to chill, relax and unwind.
The Coastline hotel was just the tonic we both needed.
We landed in the early hours of my husband’s 60th birthday and after booking in made our way to a spacious and very comfortable double room with a country view.
The meals were absolutely delicious with so much to choose from, and all of the hotel staff were friendly and only too pleased to help with anything. The facilities provided by the hotel were perfect.
The weather was brilliant. Even the Monday of the storms (18mm) after Malta's less than average winter rainfall was an unforgettable experience.
We had two full day guided tours during our stay although more were available, these enabled us to see many of the places of interest and obviously enabled us to more appreciate their significance to the islands history.
Also recommended is the evening of the Maltese extravaganza where a typical Maltese menu is served at a restaurant called Ta' Marija in Mosta.
We didn’t want to come home it was such a pleasant, relaxing and very welcome holiday. We will recommend it to all our friends.
Thank you thank you for being just what we needed!

Submitted By: Mr HoganWe went into Buggiba most nights. However Johnnie Gee is great fun, he does daytime entertainment on a Monday and Friday and nights on a Monday and Thursday. He is great fun and should be on more. Join in his games as he will give you a real laugh.
Anton in the Lacosta bar is a super guy, so helpful and goes out of his way to make you feel at home, give him a pay rise. Upstairs bar staff get narked when under pressure.
The 2 bus drivers for the hotel bus are great guys. Use the bus as it drops you in the centre of Buggiba, close to the bars and shops and right by the bus station.
Don’t book your tours with your holiday firm. Ask at reception for Oasis tours. You will be stunned by the difference in price. They turn up and don’t let you down.
Nothing for the kids, I felt sorry for them.
Nice hotel but I’m off somewhere else next time I visit.
One thing really miffed me is that the hotel hires out a function room. We had to take dinner downstairs in the small restaurant twice as the upstairs one was taken over by functions. Felt a bit shoved out and waited 50 mins for our food.

Submitted By: Mrs S KeaneWe had a brilliant time, the service was 1st class, the hotel was clean and the staff were wonderful. The entertainment with Jonny Gee was tops!
Every member of staff make you feel like royalty and you feel like the only guests in the place.
Expect to put on some weight after your holiday as the food is something else. We have two children and both feel at home there.
We simply cannot wait to go back counting down the days!
Enjoy!

Submitted By: Ms P DaviesThis time my 13 year old daughter was coming with us so we decided to look for somewhere with more 'family appeal'.
After much deliberation we chose the Coastline Hotel, and how glad we are that we did!
Everything, from the room presentation and cleanliness, to the staff attitudes were faultless.
We booked bed and breakfast as we love the restaurants in Malta, but did have one evening meal there and it was fine.
The entertainment was suitable for most age groups and the location/views were lovely.
Although a courtesy bus seemed to be taking people out daily, some transport would be necessary as it's quite isolated.
For people who want the quality of a 5 star hotel and the amenities of a family one, the Coastline is perfect. We will return!

Submitted By: Miss L HarrisGreat food, entertainment good and Johny Gee is great. If you want a fantastic holiday this has got to be the place!
The hotel looks fab inside and out. Rooms are cleaned every day and staff are very helpful and polite. We can't wait to book up for 8th visit.
When you go back for second, third time etc you get a nice bottle of wine!

Submitted By: Miss S CollinsThe food was fantastic, whether you choose to dine in the main restaurant or the snack bar. There is also a separate restaurant which all inclusive guests get for a 50% discount. This only cost us about £10 for 2 starters and 2 main courses. The food there was also fantastic-worth a visit at least once in your holiday!
There’s a small games room which most of the children would use in the evening. There was daily entertainment which took place around twice a week. Shame it didn’t happen more frequently, but maybe it was due to the time of year. There was evening entertainment every evening which was mostly singing which was nice.
Rooms were really spacious and were cleaned once a day with fresh towels if you want them. Recommend the 'Mediteraneo' park where you see a parrot, dolphin and sea lion show - great day out!
We only left the hotel a couple of times as we had everything we needed in the hotel!
Really hope to go back to Coastline again!

Submitted By: Miss V DaviesThe hotel is no longer adults only but there were not many children staying in the hotel at the time of my visit. There is no specific children’s entertainment although they usually just join everyone else for the poolside entertainment and games.
The hotel is clean, has tasteful decor and is very well maintained. The food is of good quality and is varied and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The entertainment is varied and on the whole it is good but can be a little cheesy!
The buses in Malta are the cheapest and easiest way to get around the Island. The Maltese people are very helpful and friendly.
This 4 star hotel unlike many other hotels in Malta deserves its 4 star rating. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
