Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at the Coastline.
The food was very good with a selection of local and more “British” dishes served at the buffet restaurant. One very good point is that the restaurant is free seating so you select your table on arrival, much better that having fixed seating. The local drinks and wine were fine.
The public spaces are large and there are activities available for those wishing to join in but thankfully no pressure to do so.
The furniture around the pool is nearing the end of its useful life and the whole area suffers badly from fly infestation.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
I would say that the hotel is looking a little tired in places. We had a sea view room on the second floor which was large and had a pleasant balcony with two plastic chairs and a small table. Of the room itself everything looked a little past its best with obvious signs of wear and tear to the furniture and furnishings. The fridge barely worked and the TV picture was appalling (even on channels which were first class in the public rooms such as the shop). The bathroom had a very low bath with shower over (when are hotels going to realise that most people now shower and would prefer a proper walk in shower). The sink was cracked and the toilet seat was of very low quality plastic.
We did enjoy our stay and had a relaxing time but I would rate the Coastline as a three rather than a four star until some refurbishment is undertaken.

Just returned from Coastline Hotel. The staff are first class. The food is of a high standard. The Hotel is very clean, a bit out of the way but you are provided with free bus rides into the town. The main problems with this hotel are:- The smells from large tip at back of Hotel about 1/2 mile away. Flies around the pool area. The hotel tries to control them but on some days there are thousands dead on the floor for the day. You will not have Aircon at the the country view side of the Hotel, just a fan. and you need it at night as the temp does not drop much at night. BE WARNED:- cost of phone calls---8 euro per min or 480 euro for total of one hour ( more than cost of one weeks stay). We requested for three weeks fot a notice to be put on the phone with the charge. The management failed to do this. Saga reps also failed to inform guests dispite our constand requests. Some poor people had bills of hundreds of euro's. I have joined this site mainly to warn people of this as Saga has failed to do so. Hope this has been helpful

I have just come back from 10 nights here with my husband and two children, my sister and her child. This is a lovely hotel - away from it all and in a secluded spot overlooking the sea. It is a short bus ride from Bugibba - which we weren't impressed with (like Blackpool in the sun), so if you want to be outside of very 'touristy' resorts then the Coastline is for you. Lovely food (desserts to die for!), spotlessly clean, really friendly staff. The entertainment was for the older generation, but I understand the hotel is going to be for 50 plus only as of this year, so I guess the entertainment will suit them. Look out for Johnnie Gee - he does an evening stint as well as daytime pool side entertainment and games and he caters for children as well as adults, unlike the other evening 'entertainers', who weren't interested in entertaining the kids. Malta itself is lovely - and it is well worth visiting Mediterraneo - the local water park with dolphin shows etc.

Hotel First Class. Staff couldnt be more helpful. Nice large Twin Beds in rooms that can either be left together or separated into two 3' single beds. Cleaned daily with fresh linen supplied.
Food to a very high standard eggs fried, scrambled, omelete. while you watch at breakfast. Eat what you want from a large and varied selection in a very nicely arranged dining room.
Tuesday is Champagne Breakfast day when management serve you with a glass of very good champagne to have with your breakfast
Entertainment very good different entertainers each evening. .
Courtesy bus runs often throughout the day and evening to take you into Bugibba where you can catch any of Malta's wonderful buses to anywhere on the island.
The only downside to our stay was that on Saturday Evening a very popular maltese singer is at the hotel and the bar becomes very crowded with maltese coming to dance and listen to him sing. If you want to go on trips to various parts of the Island there is a very good tour operator just accross the road to the left as you get off the courtesy bus. The hotel used to be close to a rubbish tip which closed in 2007 and is now being turned into a very nice landscaped area. We are definitately going again

My Wife and I looked forward to going to the Coastline for many years before we finally got the chance and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic food, the staff, even under severe pressure were always helpful and the entertainment was very good indeed, except one who shouldn't be let out on a leash.
My wife is disabled and we had offers of assistance everywhere we went. This last trip was our fourth to the Island, the fourth of many and we intend to be regulars at the Coastline (I thought that the Santana Hotel was good), at least once a year.
In fact our only objection is that children are allowed. most couples we talked to at the time were of the same opinion, it isn't suitable for kids.

Just back from a week in this hotel. The staff were very helpful, the room clean and spacious, the food was good, but that's where it stopped.
There were flies were in the dining room constantly, and in the outside bar areas you needed to cover your drinks.
The stench from the landfill depends on which way the wind blows. I did mention the problem to the staff and was told it was not landfill but an industrial site.
The evening entertainment is poor and repetitive with local talent and there is nothing for children in the evening.
Bus service from the hotel is excellent and I would recommend a 3, 5, or 7 day ticket allowing you to see the rest of the island and keep you away from the smells.
The local farmer also seems to carry out a lot of muck spreading.
Our holiday highlight was the Airtours flights, which were excellent and the check in was good.
I would not go back to this hotel.

We have just returned from a week’s all inclusive holiday to the Coastline Hotel.
We were very impressed with the hotel, the rooms were lovely and clean, and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The food was very good and there was a varied menu, if you did not want the buffet at lunchtimes or evening, you could use the La Costa restaurant. We also took advantage of the 50% discount offer to use the a la carte menu, and found that very reasonable, two courses for 2 people worked out about £12.
There was a few activities going on around the pool, and there was also entertainment every evening. If you want to get away from the hotel, they offer a free bus to Buggiba; the only drawback is the last bus returns at 10pm. The hotel also offer a few other trips to Sliema and Valetta.
There was a lot of flies, but this is common in hot countries and did not spoil our holiday.
We are definitely going to return next year and we thought the all inclusive was the best that we have been on.

Just returned from Malta and feel I must warn people about this hotel. Myself and my husband booked an all inclusive 4 star deal through Thomson and was looking forward to our first trip to Malta.
However, as soon as we got out of the taxi at the hotel the smell hit us. The receptionist told us that the local farmer had been 'muck spreading' that morning. We accepted this as unfortunate, Malta is a working island, and this couldn't be helped.
My husband disputed this and said it was more like a land fill site smell. Anyway, we got unpacked and went to the pool bar for a cold drink. We couldn't sit there as the amount of flies was unbearable and we had to keep our hands over our drinks.
We battled on through the rest of the day and within reason the hotel was OK. It definitely does not deserve its four star rating, at best I would say a struggling three star.
The only place to sit out in the evening was around the pool. I certainly didn't take my nice clothes to wear in the evening to sit on mucky white plastic chairs. The hotel did have a nice terrace running along the front of the hotel but for some reason this was closed. We were not impressed at all.
The next morning, very early the smell seemed to have disappeared, however, it was short lived. By 10.00 am the vile stench had returned and we couldn't stand another minute. I immediately rang the Thomson 24 hour helpline and asked to move to another resort anywhere else away from the Coastline Hotel.
I didn't care how much it cost there was no way we could have stayed. To their credit within an hour they moved us. Several locals later told us that it was well known that a land fill site was less than 1km from the hotel. You can actually see it smouldering on the hills.
We moved to Sliema to the Fortina Spa hotel. What a difference!! It was like another world and we eventually had a wonderful holiday. We also met another couple of people who had also moved because of the smell.
If Thomson had mentioned the land fill site being so close we most definitely wouldn't have booked the Coastline.
We actually loved Malta and plan to return, the climate is fantastic, the people were so lovely and friendly and very helpful. If we had stayed at the Coastline Hotel, we would have come away from Malta with a different opinion.
My opinion is doing go to the Coastline, there are plenty of other much better places to stay.

I have been visiting Malta since I was three months old, usually staying at Bugibba Holiday Complex.
Me and my family stayed at the Coastline because we got an upgrade over Christmas as Bugibba Holiday complex was not available.
I have to say I was amazed at the difference between the two hotels. We got a great service at the Bugibba, but it was fantastic at the Coastline, although I have to say the room we got was smaller than I'm used to as we normally stay in apartment rooms with kitchenettes.
However, the food was glorious and the service was excellent and I also felt more at home there as some of the waiters I knew were working there while the Holiday Complex was being refurbished!
Although it is in a hilly location, it's easy to get to wherever you want to go as there's a free mini bus that takes you into Bugibba and at the bottom of the huge drive there are two bus stops right outside the hotel.
Although we didn't have a sea view room, from the dining room you have an excellent view of the coast.
The only problem I found was that I couldn't find the games room unfortunately!
The cleaning service was fabulous and your sheets got changed every other day and if you wanted anything all you had to do was ask and it would be there almost immediately.
Also when I had a problem carrying my tray, taking drinks up to the hotel room one of the managers helped me! Although this was after I had made an idiot of myself spilling the drinks on the first tray! But the Manager for that evening simply took my tray and got new drinks for me and even carried the tray to my room for me!
In all, the Coastline definitely deserves its 4* rating as it is an absolute delight to go to and when I have enough money I will definitely be going there again!

This was the first time my husband and I had holidayed alone since our honeymoon in 1972, and our first time flying further than Jersey.
We had just had an awful year with redundancy and deaths, a son in a nasty car accident and losing our home. We were desperate to chill, relax and unwind.
The Coastline hotel was just the tonic we both needed.
We landed in the early hours of my husband’s 60th birthday and after booking in made our way to a spacious and very comfortable double room with a country view.
The meals were absolutely delicious with so much to choose from, and all of the hotel staff were friendly and only too pleased to help with anything. The facilities provided by the hotel were perfect.
The weather was brilliant. Even the Monday of the storms (18mm) after Malta's less than average winter rainfall was an unforgettable experience.
We had two full day guided tours during our stay although more were available, these enabled us to see many of the places of interest and obviously enabled us to more appreciate their significance to the islands history.
Also recommended is the evening of the Maltese extravaganza where a typical Maltese menu is served at a restaurant called Ta' Marija in Mosta.
We didn’t want to come home it was such a pleasant, relaxing and very welcome holiday. We will recommend it to all our friends.
Thank you thank you for being just what we needed!

Very clean hotel and great views. Food ok but repetitive. Entertainment was naff, the singers sang same songs and one guy sang to himself.
We went into Buggiba most nights. However Johnnie Gee is great fun, he does daytime entertainment on a Monday and Friday and nights on a Monday and Thursday. He is great fun and should be on more. Join in his games as he will give you a real laugh.
Anton in the Lacosta bar is a super guy, so helpful and goes out of his way to make you feel at home, give him a pay rise. Upstairs bar staff get narked when under pressure.
The 2 bus drivers for the hotel bus are great guys. Use the bus as it drops you in the centre of Buggiba, close to the bars and shops and right by the bus station.
Don’t book your tours with your holiday firm. Ask at reception for Oasis tours. You will be stunned by the difference in price. They turn up and don’t let you down.
Nothing for the kids, I felt sorry for them.
Nice hotel but I’m off somewhere else next time I visit.
One thing really miffed me is that the hotel hires out a function room. We had to take dinner downstairs in the small restaurant twice as the upstairs one was taken over by functions. Felt a bit shoved out and waited 50 mins for our food.

Stayed from 4/10/2011 to 11/102011 with Sarga, and it was. This hotel is a health hazard, could not get bottled water unless the bar was open, a barman went to punt a drink in a dirty used glass, a friend and I had a carafe of wine and he found a dead cockroach in his glass. No way will I go back or travel with Sarga again.
