Bahia De Alcudia Hotel

This hotel - as it's name suggests - is located just outside the main resort of Alcudia in the bay of Alcudia. The resort centre is quieter & more laid back than Alcudia, but still has plenty to offer - shops, bars, restaurants, etc. The one thing that did not impress was the beach - talk about bad smells! As it is a bay there sea water was wave free & lay quite stagnant!
The hotel itself was nice - quite old fashioned based on first impressions of the reception area. The rooms were good sized & clean - although quite dark due to the mahogany wood furniture & red curtains & bed linen.
The pool area was a good size with plenty of sun loungers for guests - so its was beyond me why people were still out in the early hours reserving loungers with their towels! There is also a pool bar. In the hotel grounds there is also a lovely garden with what I can only describe as a bird sanctuary - lots of caged parrots, canaries, etc. The birds seemed really well cared for & made a very different addition to the hotel.
The hotels bar/lounge area was nice & cool, but as with all hotel bars the prices were expensive. However, don't let the price put you off their impressive cocktail menu - the champagne cocktail is gorgeous!
The hotel restaurant was not as we had hoped. Food was quite basic & repetitive - their idea of cordon bleu was a cheese hamwich! The cooked breakfast was dripping in grease & the tea/coffee machine was dreadful!
All in all we enjoyed our holiday here, but its was just as well we had restaurants in the surrounding area, as you could get sick of rice, fish & pasta after 3 nights of it!
