My wife and I flew Ryanair to Almeira and then took a cab to the hotel (€42). Despite the flight arriving late, that it took forever to get our bags and we were 45 minutes from the resort we were able to catch a late dinner since the hotel restaurant closes at 10.30 most evenings-this was a big plus.
We had asked/confirmed for our room to have a sea-view. This turned out to be apparently impossible. Our room in fact had a glorious view of the street and several palm trees. I can give no advice on how one goes about getting a SV since as many Spanish and Germans were given equally short shrift. In our case lady luck came to the rescue since in trying to get the kitchen tap ( all rooms come with a hob/oven/fridge) to work it fell apart covering the floor with a lot of water. My complaint was well and efficiently handled and soon my wife and I were ensconced in a suite with a perfect sea-view- at no extra cost.
The hotel food is between adequate and excellent but before this is explained one should find out at the very start how the table system works if you decide to eat later than the norm ( you pick a table and wait for it to be cleared/laid)!! This is particularly the case at breakfast where fairly bad tempered waiters/waitresses aren’t helpful at all. Back to the food- the buffet is OK (only just) but the grill at the rear ( and the pancake grill) is excellent provided you know exactly what you want and are prepared to wait.
Very few of the waiting staff can speak any English at all so if you have a smattering be prepared to use it!!!
The hotel’s poolside facilities are first class and if the water is a mite on the cold side there is an indoor pool. The beach ( it''s sand but not as we know it!!!) is only yards away and the "resort" is also right next door.
It''s modern bright hotel which tries hard ( the lift is very flash). The Hotel staff were always courteous and efficient and any complaint ( provided you got an English speaking Spaniard) was always well handled. The weather incidentally was glorious for mid October and with the exception of the bl**dy flies which were a continual nuisance I would recommend both the hotel and the resort if a quiet holiday or one with young children was wanted.
Oh, and get upgraded to a suite!

we were supposed to be staying at playasol but that had been closed for refurbishment and were transferred to playacapricho across the road.
the hotel is right on the beach. this hotel is spotlessly clean and really well run, most of reception staff speak fluent english and are very helpful. Our room contained two double beds which were very comfortable sheets were changed daily. we only had breakfast ,but food was very good with plenty of choice and omlettes made to order the only thing missing was baked beans. the only complaint i would have is that the outdoor pool is very cold but they do have a heated indoor pool from autumn to spring. This is a very quiet resort with no discos or nightclubs a family friendly resort and would strongly recommed it.
