Cala Azul Esmeralda Apartment, Cala D'Or
Set in a peaceful location overlooking the sea and close to a small cove, the Cala Esmeralda enjoys a good reputation for excellent service. A bright hotel, it is set in comfortable surroundings. The delightful saltwater pool, terrace area and snack bar are particularly appealing features, as is the seafront snack bar.

well what can i say, this is the best, if not the best hotel i have ever been to in majorca.
It is by far the best in cala d'or.
The Hotel is a 5 star in my opinion, the beautiful views, entertainment, friendly reps & staff, cleanliness everythink is just amazing.
It suits every type of person, young and old alike.
We had a big family holiday with me, my wife a teenager, toddler, my mum and dad and everyone wants to go back even my littlen loved it.
The rooms were cleaned everyday, the food was great and the entertainment was very good, you dont have to really leave the hotel at night as it has everythink.
i would advise you to get a sea view as it is worth it and would say get down to the beach early as it can get very crowded but that is what you can expect on every beach. The beach was gorgeous and you can also sunathe on the cliffs surrounding.
The only probem i had was the fact that there were never any sun loungers available around the pool, as people would put there towels down sometimes before 6am and never came back til 10am or later.
Apart from that this hotel is everythink you would ever want in a holiday
I would recommend it to anyone, we have already booked again for the end of august.
Hope this helps..

This hotel is the best hotel in Cala Dor and is located on the beach of the best cove in the area. It is FANTASTIC. Now you know when you read reviews and you don’t know whether to believe them; well this one you should because we are an average family who just stays in average hotels and we loved it.
The apartments had all the essentials and were very clean and the best shower ever. The balconies were huge. Sea view ones are excellent so there worth paying extra for. There are plenty of pools around the resort but sun beds have to be reserved early in a morning. The beach is so picturesque and the town and marina are lovely. There is a real buzz about the place.
The boat trip from the cove of Cala Esmeralda can be very rocky and the sea can be misleading as we found out, but it was a fun experience. The waterpark at El Arenal is an experience that should not be missed, there is plenty of shade and all the rides have lifeguards and is the best waterpark we've ever been to; even if you don't like rides. A trip to Palma is excellent. We went on one with Roig bus company, this cost us only 18 euros for adults and 9 euro for children and is fabulous. You can book these excursions throughout the town and are very reliable.
There are so many eating places in Cala Dor and although not the cheapest they have some of the best food I’ve ever had on the island. When exchanging money be careful because some of the places say 0% commission but there is a hidden commission at an extortionate price, so make sure you work out how much you should get. Eating at the marina is a must because the views are fantastic.
You've got to go because I wish I was - believe me the hotel and resort are great. Reps are very helpful too. You’ll have a ball, have fun!

Very nice posh hotel set in a dead end road and very private. You can wonder to any of the hotels under the Eurotel name opposite and use the facilities.
Local shops were good, however this is a bit far from the main town and not a great walk through a few dodgy areas.
In October as you would expect the place was pretty empty and the town was quiet in the evening.
As a young couple we hoped to meet other couples however English people were few and far between, the place was full of Germans and Dutch people. They were all very nice but could not speak English!
The evening entertainment was good and quite amusing however when they spoke they said everything in English, German and Spanish and maybe a few other languages.
This was annoying and the kids seemed to always be spoken to in German, so I’m glad we did not take my family with the kids.
All in all a very good hotel as long as you go in high summer and hopefully find some English people.
The rep was a waste of time very rude and had no interest in supporting us; however I believe they change the reps often.

The Montechoro apartments were horrible, the so called beds were under the sofas and in no way were they comfy! The kitchenette was disgusting and the bathroom was horrible.
The bar was only open for certain hours and they were stupid, the poolside bar wasn’t open at all. And one more thing I don’t think we could have been any further from the beach if they tried. But I do have to say the staff were very friendly and the nightlife was brilliant , there were also lots of different places to eat and the beach was spotless.
I do suggest the Algarve for a holiday just watch your accommodation and where it’s situated.

Cala D'Or is a great place for a family holiday. We stayed in the Azul Esmeralda which is situated in the south east of Majorca.
The resort is located in a cove with sea view. The hotel restaurant catered for all and the food was great I would recommend half board. The best way to get around the island is by car which we hired for three days costing around £55 including insurance. There are plenty of bars and restaurants if you fancy trying the local food and drink.
I would highly recommend a visit to the Marineland and the pictures and breath taking village of Valdamosa which is situated on the west coast of the island. The beach was within walking distance and we enjoyed our stay "Happy holiday".

Cala D'or is a beautiful gem in the South East corner of Majorca. Unlike Alcudia in the North East, this truly reflects the Spanish way of life rather than having the feel of Blackpool in the sun like Alcudia.
It's pedestrianised squares full of quality restaurants helps you to relax into holiday mode as soon as you arrive.
The beautiful beaches and hidden coves make it a must for sun lovers, as well as the crystal clear warm waters of the sea.
It has plenty to do in the evenings without being too "in your face" like many Spanish resorts that cater for brits abroad.
It has a quality feel without being over priced and there is nothing better than sitting in one of the restaurants or bars along the marina watching the world, and very expensive boats, go by.
The local people are friendly and helpful and it is hard not to walk around looking like the cat that’s got the cream as Cala D’or has everything you need for a holiday - young or old.
What it doesn’t have, which is another plus point for families and couples, is an attraction for the young, clubbing tourists. There are lively bars with entertainment but there are very few singles roaming the streets looking for a good time. In fact, the few that you did see, you felt that they had been sold a pup by the travel operator who convinced them that Cala D'Or was a good place for them to holiday!
The Cala Azul complex also has everything you need - a selection of pools, bars, places to eat, gym, indoor heated pool, gym, mini golf, table tennis, tennis, great food with the complex situated on it''s own perfectly kept beaches. The animation worked hard with a smile on their faces all day to make sure each and everyone of us had a fantastic holiday.
The rest of the staff went out of their way to cater for your every need and nothing was too much trouble.
I have never returned to the same destination before as I like to experience new places, but this year I made an exception and returned to Cala D’Or after my visit in 2002. I was not disappointed, if anything it had improved.
Only a short flight away and with plenty of other attractions on Majorca to keep you occupied, I would recommend this holiday to anyone. Enjoy!
