Just came back from our second holiday at the Grecotel Royal Park. Great improvements since last year. The kids enjoyed the Club and the staff spoke better english than in 2005. Super new pool down by the beach with water slides kept our two happy for hours so that we could relax nearby.
Staff only too happy to help. If they want everything in English and only Brits around then why go abroad? We like Greece because they adore kids and we feel really safe - unlike other places we've visited. Only problem for me is that you can eat and drink non-stop and I've put on all the pounds I'd lost before the holiday!

Stayed at the Grecotel 24/06-09/07, lovely hotel, lovely food, settings were gorgeous and atmosphere was very nice.
Only bad point is that entertainment lacked, there were children’s activities but all in German. I would recommend the hotel but would warn that it is about a 15minute taxi drive into town for good nightlife which cost 20euros each way. Although more English people would have been nice, think there were about 10 of us altogether.
The nightlife was the biggest let down after being told by the travel agent there was plenty. Which for a young couple like ourselves was a disappointment, Overall good holiday.

We have just arrived back from our holiday at Grecotel Royal Park. I stayed here with my hubby for two weeks in the sun. You could not fault the weather, nice and warm with a slight breeze.
You could not fault the food in the restaurant, there was plenty of choice for vegetarians.
We didn't have any problems with the hotel or our holiday except for there being no entertainment in the evenings. The hotel have a very good entertainment team for adults and children in the day but this is only in German, so we were unable to participate.
There is also very limited entertainment in the evenings.
We went to Grecotel Royal Park for a very relaxing holiday which we had. The hotel is approx 1 mile from Marmaris, which has a few bars/ shops. The beach is also very nice.
The hotel have recently build a new swimming pool near the beach, which means that the main pool is nice and quiet (although it was closed due to repairs for a few days).
All in all an excellent holiday!

I totally agree with previous comments, hotel was a shabby 3 star not 4. we stayed in a bungalow room with sea view, nothing like the brochure showed. It was appalling to be told that in order to have a coffee at night it had to be in a plastic beaker! felt like a child again instead of paying £3,000 for a good holiday we had a very poor holiday. Asked the rep several times to move us, but we would have to pay a penalty fee if we left this hotel group. Nothing stated this in the Thomson book .
Tried to get in the 5star sister hotel but rep did little to help situation. Sadly this is the last time I will use Thompson, I will book on line in future. We stayed earlier this year in a 4 star hotel in Lanzarote, this was also featured in the Thompson book. It was fantastic both hotel & staff and the description matched the book accurately. Pity the person/people who checked that hotel did not go to the Royal Park as they would have only marked it a poor 3.

Basic hotel rooms, little facilities if u need to get away from the bar area, food is nothing special although it is varied, typical Greek food for dinner and evening meal/breakfast is American style buffet, scrambled eggs/fried eggs are a little underdone at times.
Waiter service is good if u need it, most annoying thing about the restaurant was the tables were almost always set for three people. This is billed as a 4 star hotel, although I personally would only give this hotel 3+, not a great variety of drinks on offer in the evening bar, i.e. cocktails, I asked for a cocktail that was not on the list and was given a short rebuff for asking and treated shabbily by the staff at the bar for the following 2 days, glasses are not allowed outside the bar area during the day but during the evening they are? There was more children running/jumping in this area at night than daytime.
Pool is dirty and unkempt, plastic beakers were seen in the pool on numerous occasions, the lights on the pool walls were always working lose, the edge of the pool slopes in and down making it difficult to get a good grip if needed/especially weak swimmers. Approximately 4 families were reported to have had ear infections from pool, sand was always on the bottom. The most disturbing thing about this hotel is that it is German orientated, the majority of the signs were in German, entertainment was in German until the few British families asked for it to be translated, even then it was aimed more at the German speaking guests.
Most reps at resort hotels walk the pool trying to cajole guests into taking part, this was not the case, exception being the Culture Rep, tried all the tricks in the book to get guests to participate. The entertainment finished at approx 11.30pm and although the pool bar was advertised as being open till 1.30am, on many occasions no music was played after 11.30pm and the staff seemed more intent on clearing the bar to shut early.
Only 2 nights was the entertainment worth watching, Greek Night, and 1 reps night, some guests seemed happy to play cards indoors. Guests also reported that there Bungalow keys/safe keys fitted other doors and safes.( This was shown to me to be true) The location of this hotel is too isolated if the guest get bored, Marmari is the main resort and is almost non existent for entertainment. All in all a poor hotel, lack of facilities and communication from reps.
The kids clubs at the hotel were all in German, although we were told by the Thompson rep that they did speak English, most disturbing thing was the kids club timetable/board was in German, the rep stated that this was a multinational hotel, so why was there only one translation?

took all family(5) in may 2009. fantastic hotel and staff, fantastic all inclusive, good food. disregard bad english reports on this hotel which are ,in our opinion, unfounded.this hotel is popular with many holidaymakers from around europe with a large majority from germany but all staff and entertainment teams do speak excellent english.
the entertainment is done mainly in german but when requested it is repeated in english with no problems. our 12 year old granddaughter joined in the childrens clubs and entertainments concerts in which she was a star performer - receiving a standing ovation from all - including the germans
We thoroughly recommend this hotel for all.
