I had read some mixed reviews on this board about the Sunset Beach Resort and Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica, but when we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised! The staff was very accomodating and fun. The room was very clean, as was the entire resort. The beach itself was too rocky, but we managed just fine. For the money, it's a VERY good deal. We normally stay at no less than four or five star resorts, so our expectations were not high, but we had an ABSOLUTE BLAST!! I really enjoyed my stay at Sunset Beach. The overall experience was very good. Had a second floor room in the Inn overlooking the garden/gazebo and a partial view of the ocean. Me and two of my girlfriends went to Sunset Beach during our thanksgiving break which was Nov28-Dec 1 2002. Let me tell you guys I had the best time. We booked through Air Jamaica Vacations and they took care of everything!!! When we got to the airport and went through immigration we were quickly greeted by an air jamaica vacation staff member. My husband and I visited Sunset beach from November 9-13, 2002, for our 10-year wedding anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews about this resort. I was not expecting to be impressed, but I was! If you don't want to wait around for your sleeping room, I suggest a later arrival time. Check-in isn't until 3pm. We and a group of 7 other people, who traveled with us, arrived at the resort just prior to lunchtime took the time to check out the buffet and tour the resort. It was an average resort with the typical social scene. It's not the "Grand Lido", but it served its purpose. This resort doesn't carry premium liquors as compared to their counterparts. This resort neither carry champagn nor wine. That was the only downside for me. Otherwise, it was a nice place to saty.

I stayed at Sunset Beach from Oct. 15th to Oct.22nd. It is really a great value for the money. The staff is incredible! The universal answer is "NO PROBLEM", and they mean it! While on the property you really want for nothing, everything is covered. I went with my work and had a blast. I would say be careful going into town however as a friend of mine and I were robbed by 3 guys whom where threating our life. I only lost $50.00 American, and so did my friend. Visited Sunset Resort Sept. 30 - Oct. 5 We got there right after Lili blew by and Resort was still in good shape except for beach area. First, everything at the airport went really smooth and transportation was provided to the Resort. We were married on August 5, 2000 at Sunset Beach Resort and Spa ~ it was BEAUTIFUL. We had a wonderful time, we had our family and friends with us. The adults loved it, the children loved it. So much to do. I will go again. It was one of the best times of my life.
