we have just arrived back from the sunset beach resort this morning and would like to say it was amazing, it is the best holiday i've ever been on. i went with my boyfriend and we had the best time ever. the hotel is great and there is alot to do, the water slides are fab and the beach is gorgeous. the food is great and there is alot of variety and the red stripe beer is lovely too :). the jamaican people are the most friendliest people we've ever met they are so laid back and everything is 'no problem mon' we went on 3 great trips:
dunns river falls via the catamaran-that was fab
nine miles bob marley tour with a rasta guide-that was amazing
black river safari and YS falls-that was great we saw crocodiles
There are alot of bars at the resort, ther is the main lobby bar, the english pub, the swim up pool bar (our favourite),the beach grill bar, the beach hut bar and another little bar by the italian resturant.
i can't fault this holiday in anyway it was the most beautiful country we have been to and we can't wait to go back.

Best holiday ever! Only went for one week and definitely not long enough! Therefore booked to go back again this month for 2 weeks!
Everything about this holiday was perfect!
The only thing that could have hindered it was that there was the typical building work being carried out. Apparently this was happening for most of the week we were there. but we only noticed it one day when we went back to our room as it was so hot in the sun, and the work men were right outside our balcony. They caught sight of us and immediately the manager came to our door and informed us what was going on but also said that if the workmen were causing us any problems they would stop work until it was convenient for us. We cooled off and went back out into the sun. When we returned to our room later in the afternoon there was a basket of fresh fruit waiting for us with a 'sorry for any inconvenience caused' card. This was greatly appreciated, even though there wasn't any inconvenience caused!
Couldn’t have asked for friendly staff, better surroundings etc.
Total Paradise!

Hotel: Nice rooms, in good condition and very well kept through the 2 weeks we were there.
Good restaurant, including range of food (though Jamaican food largely kept to 'Jamaican night'; aimed quite at unadventurous and children though there are many other options).
Sunbeds always available by the lovely pool and didn't feel at all crowded. Great place to go if you want a sun-pool holiday with everything thrown in.
Location: Beautiful, private beach. Further from Montego Bay than many others but reasonably priced taxis from hotel, as well as minibuses provided for several excursions.
Jamaica: beautiful country and really amazing holiday destination however not *that* much to do/see other than shopping - locals were surprised when we wanted to see any sights, and there's nothing geared up for it - mostly, it was DIY sightseeing, and several of the areas listed in the guidebooks as sights weren't at all family friendly, in some cases felt very intimidating for a white family with young children.
Tour operator: Kuoni: Not a very good operator, fraught with difficulties. Had originally booked Rosehall, but very short notice before departure were informed most of the hotel would be closed for renovations. Were only informed by email, and - coincidentally? - the day after any refund would be given, according to their T&C.
Obviously, any attempt to change operators would mean sourcing another hotel, operator and trying to get the money back from Kuoni. In the end they agreed to an 'equivalent' hotel, which we didn't really think this qualified, nice though it was - took a long time to persuade them to refund the difference; based on prices quoted online through other operators (it doesn't come into their catalogue until this year) we were massively overpaying!
Transfers from airport very disorganised, and no assistance at the hotel at all - very poor service and I wouldn't recommend them.

We have visited this resort every year for the past 5 years and it just gets better every time. We are booked again for 2008.
There is something for everyone but for families I think you would have to go a long way to beat Sunset Beach. The water park is fabulous and safe, older kids have the video shack with arcade machines and playstations, the snack bar keeps them fuelled too! There's a kids club, watersports, mini golf, tennis, shuffleboard, hire of board games, outdoor chess, games by the pool, quizzes, theme nights, beach parties,...I could go on but you get the picture!
The food is fine; don't expect fine cuisine just good food and again something for all tastes.
The apartments are clean and airy and you get a great view from either of the 2 blocks, sea or harbour or bay. Because it's on its own peninsula it's very safe and there are no hawkers or peddlars. The sea is blue, clear and clean. The staff are friendly and will fall over backwards for you, the sun shines and it's seriously relaxing.
Sometimes the Americans can get a bit loud, but let's not forget this is their Majorca and they are on holiday too!
If there's one word to learn before you - it's Irie - because everything really is Irie in Sunset Beach!

Excellent... Sunset Beach have set the bar for future holidays that I may take.
We arrived 2 days before Hurricane Dean and the staff at the hotel did everything to make sure it would not affect our holiday. We were constantly updated on what was happening and given more than enough food to store whilst we were in our rooms waiting for the hurricane to arrive. The next day it was business as usual.
The staff here are the most polite, honest, helpful staff I have ever come across. You will find staff that help hotel residents to carry suitcases, advise on local activities etc even when it is not in their job description.
The food was fantastic. If you really feel like eating all you can or you want fresh salads and fish this is the place to be.
The bar staff and entertainment staff were happy, always smiling always helpful. Even when it rained on the occasional day it did not bring the mood down.
The beach is extremely clean as well as the rooms and the dining area.
This is the first holiday I have ever taken where I have felt depressed about coming back home.
If you are looking for a holiday that you can relax and chill or party and play this is the one for you.
Wake up to mountains and sea go to sleep with a rum punch or a red stripe and for you tea totals a virgin pina colada.
Thank you Sunset Beach

We stayed at the Sunset Beach and loved it. The staff were very friendly and the hotel had a good atmosphere. The weather never let us down!
There is lots of things to keep you and your family of all ages busy, the only down side to the entertainment is if you’re going for 2 weeks the entertainment is exactly the same every week.
There is an Indian and a Chinese restaurant that are very basic and not very nice! but we had the grill 2 make up for that (very nice) overall the food was ok!
The rooms are very nice with good air con and cleaned every day. When we first arrived there and got are room we had a view of a building site which was really noisy, so we went down to the lobby to complain about the noise.
The staff were very friendly and moved us to a room with a sea and pool view.
There is always a helpful rep in the complex to deal with any problems or questions you have.
The reps offer you a wide variety of excursions whilst on your stay, we only did a couple, but would highly recommend the duns river fall, (amazing experience!).
If you fancy a bit of nightlife there’s a free shuttle bus that picks you up and drops you off at the complex safely, you will have a night to remember and is good for all ages.
We had a fab time at the sunset beach and returned there the following year to find they had built a big water park which we spent most of our time at!
We would definitely return, great value for money!

We had a totally enjoyable time at this resort. The location was beautiful and the people just as much.
From the moment we arrived we were given the warmest welcome and I was delighted to find that our apartment was very pleasant indeed. The room was very bright and airy the en-suite bathroom was immaculate. The view from the balcony was to die for. Bathing in the sea was so relaxing the sea was so crystal clear and blue. The meals were always very appetizing from breakfast to dinner and the waiters were always very attentive and polite.
I loved the entertainment it was so much fun for all of the family. I found myself being up until the early hours of the morning just watching the various live bands, artists and other activities. There was always so much to do during the day from water sports to excursions around the country to various places of interest - so much fun. I could go on forever but think you must get the picture.
I highly recommend this resort for a family or couple as I really enjoyed every aspect of it including the flight on Air Jamaica. I would really love to go again sometime soon.

I read a few reviews on this hotel before booking and found a mixed result. My husband and I spent 14 nights at the sunset beach resort and couldn’t really fault the place.
The beaches are fantastic and wonderfully clean. The restaurants are all great although we did find the banana boat a little repetitive at times. We upgraded our room when we arrived which cost us around 150 pounds. We had a fantastic view of the mountains and the ocean. We found the tower blocks were much preferred by everyone.
The staff and people were second to none. They really cant do enough for you. All in all the perfect holiday. Most of the people staying at the hotel were americans on short breaks. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who’s looking for a very relaxing and stress free holiday. Enjoy.

Beautiful country. Beautiful people. The drinks and food overflowed so no reason to search for the nearest fast food restaurant. The rooms were clean and pleasantly decorated. All staff were courteous and helpful beyond their call of duty, trained to the standards of a queen's butler.
Holiday rep had so Many excursions to offer our heads span! with the resort built next to the beach and the sun all ways shining, what more could a girl want...

I had a fantastic time on this holiday. The food was good and there was plenty of choice. The other restaurants were really nice. I couldn’t have asked for more friendly service. Nothing is a problem at this hotel, all the staff are friendly and will help you out with anything. Just need to ask. The bar will serve you any drink you can think of, as long as they have the spirit for it...
Super holiday...thanks sunset beach.

Food reasonable, rooms tired, building work going in the low-rise accommodation areas. Rooms didn’t have a fridge take your own heavy duty plastic cup as the plastic ones you get fly away in the wind and end up at the bottom of the sea (thousands of them).
The only time you get served drinks is at the bar or to the table in the evening. Make sure if you ask for a cocktail that they put rum in it as it isn’t automatic. Beach was nice however quite a bit of seaweed in the sea, sea urchins and jellyfish to watch out for, so deflected on the overall enjoyment. Collapsed sunset jetty area boarded up and ugly.
Well the hot spa, all I can say is it was too hot to go in the day time and you needed to of had a few to drink to get the courage to go in it at night as it was bordering 2nd degree burns.
