" Really Great Holiday "

Me and My Husband booked our honeymoon at this hotel and had the best time ever, the staff are really friendly, the food is great, it's really clean and the bed was really really comfortable.
They have 2 bbq's a week a quiz and kareoke which is so much fun as Alan is sooo funny.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday.

Advice: Go for it, its brill

Activities: Favourite restaurant was the traditional greek restaurant which does the plate smashing

Good for: Beach

" JUST ARRIVED BACK AND THOUGHT I'D... "

JUST ARRIVED BACK AND THOUGHT I'D REVIEW WHILST FRESH IN MY MIND. WHAT A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY! IGNORE PREVIOUS REVIEWS BY PEOPLE SAYING THE FOOD IS NAF, PLACE IS QUIET, HILL IS TOO STEEP! MOANING MINNIES WHO SHOULD JUST STAY AT HOME!

FOOD IS VERY RUSTIC, SOUP TO START WITH CHOICE OF MAIN COURSE, CHIPS, PASTA AND GORGEOUS SALAD AND FRESH BREAD EVERY NIGHT.

2 BBQ'S A WEEK PLUS A GREEK NIGHT WITH GREEK DANCING - EXCELLENT FOOD AND GOOD ATMOSPHERE.

ROOMS HAVE BEEN REFURBISHED SINCE SUMMER 2007 - NEW BATHROOMS WITH POWER QUALITY SHOWERS, LOVELY BALCONIES - AND THE ROOMS WERE CLEANED EVERY DAY DURING OUR WEEK'S STAY.

MAKE SURE YOU TAKE MOSSIE SPRAY AND A PLUG IN MOSSIE MACHINE FOR YOUR ROOM - WE DID THIS AND DIDN'T GET BITTEN ONCE - OTHERS WERE NOT SO LUCKY! NO PROBLEM AT ALL WITH FLIES OR WASPS AS PER PREVIOUS REVIEWS!! DIDN'T SEE A COCKROACH THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE THERE - PROBABLY DOWN TO EVERYWHERE BEING SO CLEAN!

AS FOR THE HILL, IT TAKES APPROX 15 MINS TO WALK UP TO THE VILLAGE FOR TAVERNAS/BARS/RESTAURANTS/SHOPS ETC BUT ITS A COMFORTABLE WALK IF YOU DON'T ATTEMPT IT IN THE MIDDAY HEAT.

STAFF AT THE HOTEL ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND ACCOMMODATING - NOTHING IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE. OTHER GUESTS VARIED IN AGE BUT MAJORITY WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND CHATTY. REP KEILLY GREAT. WE WENT ON THE SUNSHINE CRUISE - EXCELLENT DAY OUT - HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. AND THE MARKET ON A WEDNESDAY WAS GREAT FOR BARGAIN HUNTING TOO.

ALL IN ALL, A GREAT HOLIDAY WITH GREAT ACCOMMODATION - WOULD DEFINITELY GO AGAIN!

" My husband & I got back yesterday... "

My husband & I got back yesterday from 2 weeks at the Kassandra Bay Hotel. My husband is disabled, staff carried the luggage up the stairs on arrival, but had disappeared on our departure, other guests assisted us with our luggage.

The Hotel was spotlessly clean, we had twin beds put together to make a double, night time was bearable to start with but by the time we came home it was getting to be very hot at night. Mossies were a problem but we used a machine in our room & that solved that problem we had also invested in some antihistame cream which helped tremendously.

It's a 15 minute walk up[a relatively steep hill] to the town/village & we can recommend Sweet Dreams Coffee Shop [crepes to die for], Nikos taverna for grilled sardines & a very nice mousaka then the Akropolis Greek Night [every Saturday] is a great night out. To get to the beach is 15-20 minutes walk downhill & 25- 30 minutes back up however the sea is crystal clear & well worth the trip at least once.

The Hotel food was very unimaginative, chips every night no Greek food apart from the odd stifado, Greek Salad was available every night though. It was however edible Sunday night was B B Q night & very good it was too, Souvlaki, Giant Beans, Greek Meatballs & Steak plus a selection of salads, excellant. No fresh fruit was available at breakfast time, I bought my own from the local supermarket. The house medium sweet red wine was very nice as was the white.

The staff were friendly.

As we there at the beginning of the season, nobody turned up for either the bingo or the karaoke however the Reps Thursday night Quiz was well attended & good fun.

We went on one trip to Mt Athos which is a must do in our opinion, however shop around as it is expensive.

The bus service is cheap & relatively reliable we didn't have any problems with it, be at the stop at least 10 minutes before the bus is due & be prepared to wait up to 30mins. We visited Pefkohori, Hanioti, Afytos & Kassandria all by bus. A local market is held in Kassandria every Tuesday morning until about 1pm & is worth a visit. From Kassandria you can do the west coast of the peninsula by bus.

The area is also well known for it walks, so if you like hiking/walking then this is the place for you.

The scenery was wonderful.

Transfer times seem to vary depending on where drop offs & pick ups are.

The pool area was nice & clean with plenty of chairs & sunbeds.

Depending on where you room was would depend on how many steps you had to negoitiate there are no lifts. The room walls are quite thin so don't have a row as your neighbours will hear every word of it. If you have a maintenance problem report it to reception & it will in our experience be dealt with extremely quickly.

Would we go again? Probably not, but only because it is extremely rare for us to go to the same place twice. We did meet some really nice people at Kassandra Bay & for that reason it was well worth going.

" The stay at the hotel started off... "

The stay at the hotel started off very pleasantly and the food was nice. Me and my friend came back from a wicked night out and we were just getting ready for bed when we had a massive storm throughout the night. Our room got flooding our balcony doors flew open and i flew across the room. My friend went to see if her parents were ok and got blown down the corridor. We missed our breakfast as we were too tired because the storm didnt stop until 6am. The pool was a mess and didnt get cleaned for two days after. We also got followed by one of the young members of staff.

" Do not believe your rep when they... "

Do not believe your rep when they tell you the journey from the airport is about 40mins it is 2 hours!

I can’t believe no-one has mentioned the beds! we had a double bed and size wise it was fine BUT the mattress was very thin and the wooden slats very very squeaky (not great for your honeymoon) and quite uncomfortable, these were really the only two negatives.

It would have been nice to have tea making facilities in the room but it seems fairly standard not to in this grade of hotel. The showers on the other hand were fine, not great pressure not always piping hot but always enough to get you clean.

Apart from that though a very nice hotel, basic and quiet but very clean and the staff were very helpful. Food choice was a little limited but soups and meat dishes were always very good. Chips and salad always on offer for those who are really fussy.

The hotel gardens were charming and the pool bar good value, it also does a nice selection of snacks and lunches (mainly English though) if you can't face the walk to the village.

We didn't find the hill too much of a problem, certainly not as bad as we expected from some reviews and while we don't have any health problems we certainly couldn't be described as fit. But we live in a hilly area and don't drive so we're used to walking everywhere anyway, but I could see it would cause problems for those with health issues or the terminally car addicted and lazy.

Kriopigi its self is very small, the main road is clearly geared for tourists with mainly bars and restaurants. A special mention for the two bakeries both of which sell delicious pastries and the kebab place at the top of the hill from the hotel (fantastic, it’s a kebab but not as we know it). The old village is worth a walk through as it’s very picturesque.

A great place if you just want to relax by the pool, on the beach or in the bar.

" Every holiday we have been on we have... "

Every holiday we have been on we have always said we would go again at some later date but not this time!

The holiday wasn't much fun from arriving at the hotel, after being on the coach for nearly 2 hours we were met by Renata in reception. It was absolutely scorching hot and immediately we were led up 2 lots of steps (with luggage in tow) then up a further 4 flights of stairs to our room (top floor). There was no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and we were parched. As it was 6.30pm when we arrived we showered and changed and went into the restaurant for our meal. There wasn't much choice and there was flies everywhere. This continued all week.

On venturing out of the hotel we had to walk up cardiac hill to go into town or down a steep hill (15 mins walk) to the beach. We hired a car for the rest of the week just to take us up and down the hills.

The rooms were unbearable at night: it was so hot and not many fans to go around all the guests, and no fridge either so you can't even have a cold drink to cool yourself down. I went to ask about safe deposit box and all these (10 only to go around 38 rooms) had all been taken as well. So passports had to be left in hotel safe which we weren't happy about but safer than leaving them in our room.

The hotel grounds were lovely and very clean. It was the hill and facilities that spoilt it. The pool was nice and clean and this is where they have BBQ twice each week, not as we English know it but it was ok.

To sum up, if you want a chill out holiday where you're happy to stay around the pool it would be fine, but much too quiet for most people.

" I have just got back yesterday so... "

I have just got back yesterday so thought I should write a review whilst it’s fresh in the mind! I went away with my partner, I’m 24, and she is 23.

Pros:
Great Staff- Very friendly and hospitable. Great Pool Bar. Nice clean pool and pool area.90% British Guests. Clean but basic rooms. Nice Rep. Well Looked After. 2.5 Euros a pint [about £1.75] at the Pool Bar. Local bars are comfy and clean. The sea is beautiful and clean. Hotel holds a BBQ twice a week!

Cons:
Rubbish shower [more like a dribble] - we kept filling up a cup and pouring it over ourselves it was that bad!
Bed would only fit Ronnie Corbet on. I’m 6 foot tall and my legs were hanging out the bed every night and caused bad back.
The Hill is really steep so not for anyone with walking difficulties.
Do not do the local market- nothing special at all!

For you to decide:
Guests are mainly older people [not many people my age but all very friendly]
Quiet area- down a hill to the beach or up the hills to the bar!
Local beach is ok but go to Kalithea [recommended] or Hanioti [busy] for a great beach! Both available by bus for 1.2 Euros [bargain!]
Food- Not much choice but nice food nevertheless.

" Excellent holiday! For what we paid,... "

Excellent holiday! For what we paid, the hotel was great! Run by a friendly family, everyone worked hard to provide a relaxing stay for the guests.

Breakfast was a bit naff, but if you like rolls, ham, cheese, jam, nutella, yoghurt and honey everyday its fine. The food provided at the pool bar for lunch was quick, convenient, cheap, and you can have a brit favourite like a cheese toastie or burger or a healthy Greek salad.

The booze is also good value. The evening meal really surprised me. Typical salad items, homemade soup (yum) and various Greek and other traditional dishes available. Perhaps not for the really fussy eater though, my partner found some things a bit on the salty side.

BBQ Greek night was good fun and most people joined in with the traditional dancing. Even an elderly couple, if I am able to dance like they did when I am 80 I will be very happy. The BBQ food was excellent and I ate far too much.

One thing I found about the hotel, it is situated on the site of a steep slope and there are a lot of stairs. Also no child play areas. No problem for us but perhaps an issue for the young or old.

The resort of Kiropigi we found very friendly, and there are plenty of lovely places to eat and drink if you want something different from the hotel, all very reasonably priced. Steep hill to walk though. Good to walk off the beer.

The only problem we encountered was that our excursion booked with Thomson, was cancelled due to bad weather, but we were not informed as Thomson gave the wrong room numbers to the hotel, and we waited over an hour on the main road waiting for a bus that never came. We did receive a full refund but it would have been nice to know.

Over all a great holiday for a very cheap price. Thanks Kassandra Bay Hotel. Good Job!

" Great tourist hotel located in a... "

Great tourist hotel located in a perfect place halfway between the beach and the town. The standard of the room was what a holidaymaker wants when abroad (no TV or anything else to keep you in touch with home - if you need this why didn't you just stay at home in the first place).

The food was very good with no concessions to the Brits (no bacon butties, baked beans on toast or pies or any similar cooking horrors).

The hotel is very clean and the family that runs and their staff do their best to keep the guests well looked after and entertained. This was our first accommodation in Greece with a shower that did not flood the bathroom. Highly recommended.

" Overall good holiday. Family very... "

Overall good holiday. Family very nice & friendly. Food was fantastic. Rooms cleaned everyday

You must go to bingo night "well" I cant spoil it, but is was brilliant. Wasps everywhere (very irritating)

On Honeymoon.

Wine left in room was disgusting and didn’t get flowers as detailed in brochure, that was disappointing.

Polychrono & Kallithea Beach worth visiting. Buses are very efficient & air conditioned.
