More Traveller Reviews of Renaissance Hanioti Resort
Spotless
from Caroline033
Just returned from Renaisance Hanioti Resort, the hotel was spotless in all areas , rooms , pool, eating areas etc. This is a very nice hotel, rooms were very modern and equipped with a couple of hotplates & a sink, ideal for making a cuppa!! The only negative were the pillows, they were like concrete slabs!! no really they were rock hard!! You did have to get up pretty early to get sunbeds, some mornings a few of us dedicated ladies( cos the men were still asleep!!) would have a chat around 7am, we all agreed it would be nice to have had a lie in, but hey if you want a bed for the day ,it had to be done!! Hanioti resort was a buzzing little place with loads of restaurants and cocktail bars to choose from, we particulary liked " Love Street" cocktail bar and did sample a few of their cocktails! The beach was okay, but a bit rocky in areas so we only had one day on it but the umbrella & 2 sumbeds for 5 euros a day I thought to be very reasonable. In all honesty we found Hanioti to be quite cheap in general compared to Spain etc Met some really nice people at the Renaisance & would reccommend it .
Fantastic Hotel
from WelshTraveller10
My wife and I spent a lovely week at the Renaissance Hanioti Hotel in June 2007. Upon arrival you are greeted with a friendly smile and a cold glass of sparkling wine (a lovely gesture after an hour and a half on the coach from the airport) We had a 1 bed room overlooking the pool and it was perfect with two balconies (one from the bedroom and one from the living room). Most rooms overlook the pool area, some overlook the gardens. Free sat TV and room safe. The Hotel is quite new so everything is in clean and in working order. All the staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. The breakfast consists of a self service buffet with a superb selection of hot and cold food (Very unusual for Greece). The pool is large with plenty of sunbeds for all. Free towels are available upon payment of deposit which is returned at the end of your stay. The gardens are immaculate The resort of Hanioti is a small stroll away through some quiet streets. Beach is 10 minute walk away. Hanioti is a lovely quiet resort with the usual array of tavernas, shops and cocktail bars. I really can't say enough about this hotel and would definately go back.
Great apart from the air conditioning!
from lynnandwill
We have recently returned from this hotel and overall it was great. Reception staff were welcoming and helpful but when we got to our room we found the air conditioning was not switched on and it was unbearable. The porter placed our key card in the slot as it only worked when we were in the room. After fifteen minutes we were literally dripping, it had made no difference at all. We returned to Reception and said that this was unacceptable and the manager was called. She explained that it was because the weather was hot outside! We asked to be moved to another room and luckly this was possible. We were placed in a ground floor room and it was slightly cooler. She then very kindly offered us an addtional key card so that the a.c. could be on all the time. A godsend! Without it I think we would have had a miserable time! So hats off to them for sorting this. We found the breakfast very good - lots of choice (but how can they eat cake for breakfast?) and regularly replenished - we were pleased to have all the lovely fresh fruit, mueslis and different dried fruit, and beautiful Greek honey and yogurt. There was also hot food but we didn't have that. The orange juice was very watery though. On the downside, on the day we were leaving early for a trip, we asked the previous day for an early breakfast and were told the cold things would be out. In fact, all we could have was 'plastic' cheese and sort of luncheon meat, neither of which we could face at 6.30 am! Despite requests, we could not even get any fresh fruit so no brownie points there. We didn't eat there in the evening. They had a buffet every evening which was Euro 25 and we had a look at it but didn't fancy it. Also, the restuarant and tables by the pool had no air con and it was sweltering even in the evening, so we walked into town where there was a bit more air. Restaurants in town we could recommend - Ellinikon (I think) alongside the park to the south of the square - decorated blue and white. All lovely staff, very welcoming, good English speakers, in particular Pascal who was charming - say Hello to him if you go there, he will make your evening. Another one was Kalozimi, which only opened the week we were there. (it's up the road from Pizza Roma, past the Kassandra Roof terrace, also quite good). This was typical greek food and thankfully for us away from the 'English Breakfast' type places! Back to the hotel - it was well positioned, nice and quiet, yet only a short walk from the beach and town. All the staff were lovely and smiley, and the room was kept very clean. Beds and pillows hard. There was a problem with the sunbeds - people were definitely setting their alarms early and putting their towels on the beds (I even did it once in desperation!). If I went to Greece again (it was our first time) I would not choose Hanioti, though I would go to this hotel if it was somewhere else and the air con reliable!
Some good points some bad!
from TheTravellingTwosome
Upon arrival, first impressions were impressive. With a warm welcome, lovely pool area and a massive room we were pleased with our choice. However, a few problems did emerge during our stay. Agreeing with another review, the air conditioning is not adequate for a 4* and more than a waft of air is needed. On some occasions it was cooler on the balcony than in the room so we left the doors open to air it out. If you are goin self catering and are expecting to make your own food then the kitchen utensils are lacking. No kettle, pans etc. Breakfast was adequate, quite a lot of choice, they did run out of bread rolls though. Staff were so friendly and helpful. If you like sunbathing then choose your beds around the pool carefully, half of them are in the shade at about 3/4 o'clock. The pool didn't open until 9, so this was good in terms of getting a bed and we always managed to get one. We loved the resort, which was about a 3-5min walk from the hotel. Really relaxing during the day and then it comes to life at night. Lots of nice bars and restaurants. Beach was also lovely, a visit to the 24 hour bar is a must-all lit up at night, very pretty. We found 'The Garden' restaurant to be the best experience we had, fantasic food, staff and setting.
Not quite a 4 star hotel
from LondonHolidaymakers
I have recently returned from a stay at Renaissance Hanioti I had carefully considered the reviews beforehand and must confess to some disappointment. I am keen to provide a balanced view as I am aware that this was my first stay at a 'smaller' hotel. THE HOTEL Renaissance is an all suites hotel and provides a lounge, bedroom and decent sized bathroom. The accommodation is good save for one problem, which in the recent heatwave has been a huge problem, and that is an oft malfunctioning and generally inadequate air conditioning. For those used to 4 or 5 star hotels and particularly larger hotels, there are some fundamentaldifferences. Breakfast is definitely limited compared to larger hotels and tends to run out quite quickly. The hotel does not really manage the peaks and troughs of its clientele particularly well . It is unable to provide an iron, change travellers cheques, and can only change small sums of currency. The dining area isquite small and the dining area doubles up as the bar. There are rarely people in the bar after 11.30 and therefore those wanting a nightcap in the hotel would be disappointed if hoping to find an atmospheric bar Entertainment is limited LOCATION Good, save for those used to a hotel on the beach. It is probably 8 mins to the part of the beach that is less shingly The sea is probably less appealing in Hanioti than in the islands being less clear blue than postcards indicate. However, beutifully warm! Probably 8-10 mins from restaurants and bars of Hanioti Square which offers a good choice of restaurants bars, gift shops etc. Possibly the best resort in Halkidiki, being less clubby than Kalithea but still offering a buzzy environment. Overall, an OK holiday as Hanioti is a nice resort. I found it less appealing than the islands and found Renaissance disappointing.
Best hotel in Hanioti
from deanturley
Just returned from a week at the Renaissance, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Lovely hotel and wouldn't hesitate to return. Plus side: o Modern hotel o Lovely pool area with decking surround o Very friendly staff on reception, in restaurant and in the bar o Relatively big rooms (we had a 2 room apartment), kept spottlessly clean with daily maid service o Location perfect: 5 mins from beach, and only 10 mins from main square (where everything happens in Hanioti) o Breakfast tasty and lots of choice (we never ate there in the evening, so can't comment on that) Some negatives: o Kitchen area in apartment is small, and not well equiped ... The only utensil is a 1-cup milk pan to boil water, no cutlery or crockery (except cups), so don't expect to be able to cater for yourself o Sunbeds were getting crowded by mid-morning, and I don't think the hotel was full. We used the beach most days, as this also gets a nice cooling breeze
Best Hotel in Hanioti
from BennettL
I have just returned from two weeks at the Renaissance Hanioti resort and I can not fault the hotel in anyway. It is definitely 4* quality. The room we had looked over the pool and the main dining area next to the pool, which was lovely. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. The maids clean thouroughly everyday. The pool is huge and very clean. If you enjoy a hotel which is about lazing by the pool and strolling out to the resort in the evening this is the hotel for you. There is not much in the way of entertainment in the hotel which suited us as we like to go out and about in the evenings. Breakfast at the hotel is great with a selection of fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals, pastries, eggs, omlettes, sausages, bacon. Almost everything. We did not need lunch after the breakfast. The hotel also provides a buffet in the evening but there are many restaurants in the resort. The resort of Hanioti is about a 5 minute walk, if that, from the hotel and has the usual clothes and souvenir shops, with plenty of restaurants to choose from. The beach is also very close to the hotel and is mainly shingle on the part that is closest to the hotel. But if you travel further down it does become sandy. I enjoyed the pool area too much to venture to the beach. If you like 4* hotels which have a lot of entertainment and facilities this would not be the hotel for you but if you like small relaxing mainly adult hotels this hotel will appeal to you. There were a few children at the hotel but becasue it does not really cater for entertaining children I don't think it would be all that fun for young children. All in all I would highly recomend this hotel and we did not have one complaint in our two week stay. The staff are friendly but in true greek style sometimes you can wait a little while for food or drink, but what is 15mins when you are relaxing on holiday!
Nice Hotel
from ciarao
We stayed for 10 nights in this hotel from start of Sept. The hotel was above average standard for Greece. It is new and the rooms very big and cleaned every day. The hotel and its grounds were immaculate. Found the staff to be friendly but have to agree with the previous review with regard to length of time to russle up some lunch or a drink at the snack bar. We ate outside the hotel most of the time as there are so many great restaurants in Hanioti that are far more reasonably priced. We did find it a struggle to get beds by the pool and often had to resort to the beach. Alot of the sunbathing area around the pool is in the shade throughout the day so even if you did get a bed, you will only get the sun for about 3 hours. The hotel is very convenient to the beach and to the main square which is lively at night. Hanioti does not have the crazy nightlife that younger couples of groups of early twenties might be looking for but there are plenty of fantastic restaurants and some late music bars that offer great value for money. It is a very clean and pretty resort. Some of the restaurants we really liked are Kassandra Rooftop restaurant and The Indian restaurant across form there ( Not the Taj Mahal - the food there is very questionable). The Bar down on the beach is also nice for some drinks at night. The water there is beautiful. All in all, Hanioti is a lovely resort and the Renaissance is definitely one of the best hotels there despite some of its flaws.
Never again!
from friarsgate
The rooms were good size and kept very clean - thats where the compliments end. The overall service was very poor - in trying to get a drink or a club-sandwich at the pool area was impossible unless you are ok with waiting 60mins to be served without a smile. We found that even after tipping the staff generously the service did not improve. Oh and the Sunbed count does not seem to match the number of occupants so we generally found ourselves at the mercy of the nationalities that rise at 6am to plant a towel on their beds. We spent most of our time at the beach (200 metres away) - and at the beach bar which offered good services and with a smile - drinks on the house were offered as these guys seemed pleased and appreciative of our custom. Business folk forget the internet which is publicised - this is via a dial up line!! snail pace - found myself having to go into town to the internet cafe. As ever the main test is 'would we return?' this is a definitive NO!
Good stay at the Hanioti Renaissance Hotel
from Independent-flyer
We have just returned from 10 days at the Hanioti Renaissance Hotel which we booked directly. After staying at the Macedonia Palace Hotel in Thessaloniki first, part of the Grecotel group & a true 4* hotel, we thought it would be a hard act to follow! We have to say, it was excellent. A very attractive new hotel, it was clean, well maintained with nice, attentive staff & the best feature was the superb huge pool with the restaurant & tables right to the pool edge. So much so that we didn't want to go to the beach, but that was too good to miss to! Breakfast was good, traditional Greek with cooked bacon, eggs & omeletes too. The hotel was German privately owned, sister hotel to the Afitos hotel & was run efficiently. If there was a criticism, it was the sunbed hogging by a couple of nationalities. We complained to the managment who told us they had implemented a 30 minute only policy the previous year but it had been overlooked this year. Hanioti was great, busy & lively which made it interesting with lots of different nationalities but no yobs as it mainly appeals to Greeks & English couples & families. In fact, we liked it so much we have booked to return in 8 weeks to buy an apartment to rent out!
i have been at many complexes so far due to the fact that i do work for tourist enterprise so i go to many places worldwide mostly for business purposes. Some of them were good, some average and some pretty good but i have to admitt that this is the very first time to have... more
