My husband and I have just returned from holiday at the HillTop Hotel. After a long very hot transfer it was great to be greeted by the staff,to help us with our luggage and show us to our room as quickly as possible.
Our room was very clean and bigger than we expected, loads of cupboard space. The pool area was just what we needed for a relaxing holiday, plenty of sun lougers and a pool bar.All the staff worked hard to make our holiday just what the "Doctor Ordered". If lucky enough to be still in employment next year,we will be returning there again.

Just had two weeks at the hill top with my girlfriend, we felt the hotel was clean the rooms were all you needed the service was exellent the pool was amazing. A bit of a climb to get to the hotel but all the more worth it when you get to the top. The manager Bill was brilliant and extremely helpfull when it came to planning day's out as he knows the area well. Overall a great hotel and a great holiday.

  • Advice: The whole place is very peaceful and relaxing.

Just returned from a week at this hotel, first impressions were excellent. The staff work hard, especially the the lady who stocks the breakfast bar, removes all the used crockery etc serves in the bar and always appears to be on duty.
Air conditioning is extra 5 euros a day, safety deposit box extra at 17 euros a week, fridge extra at 5 euros a day. No kettles in the allowed in the rooms, and you are not allowed to take your own drinks to the room. So it appears that the fridge can only be used for drinks purchased on the premises. But you are only allowed one glass which is provided in the bathroom. There is a large sign stating all this which also advises that food in your room will cause visits from rodents, it also states that drinks and food are just as competitive as if bought locally. So no point really having a drink on your balcony is there. It is a fair walk ferom the beach (half mile at least) and the initial leg out and final return is up a very dusty hill resulting in dirty feet and clothes. As initially stated, first impessions were excellent, and the whole experience could be improved with further thought. The view's were very good just could not match them with the REVIEW's

  • Advice: Allow more freedom you are on holiday, improve dirt track to main road, include tea making facilities and fridge ,

Just back from 2 weeks at the Hilltop in Hanioti. Just over an hour transfer from the airport, but nice scenery so was like a sightseeing tour. Hotel staff were there to welcome you from the coach & help with luggage. You will soon get to know 'Effie' the barman & 'Paul' the waiter as well as 'Benny' the pool boy. All rooms have a balcony & superb veiws. We found the whole location and facilities ideal for 2 weeks of sun bathing and chilling out by the pool. Went on 2 of the trips offered by Thompsons and enjoyed both very much. Also went to the beach on 2 days for a change and it is less than a 15 minute walk to get to the quiet part of the beach. The square is a 10 minute walk and offers good bars and great places to eat for all budgets. We ate at the hotel on a few evenings, choosing the Greek home cooked specials which were all very tasty. If you're not half board for 9 Euros you get a home cooked soup to start, then a choice of salad, your main and followed by a sweet & coffee. Loved it and will definately return again.

We spent two weeks at the Hilltop Hotel in Hanioti in June 2010. Rooms clean, staff friendly and helpful, location ideal for beach, town, walking and exploring. Thanks to all the team for looking after us, loved Effe's card tricks and antics around the pool. Would certainly stay there again.

My cousin and I have just returned from a week at the hilltop. Anybody thinking of going there - do it. we had one of the most fantastic holidays ever. The staff were fab and made the whole experience fun and comfortable. Effe is a top bloke and always had time to chat, and was always up for a laugh, Paul the waiter was really polite and when you get speaking to him he is really funny and nice as well :). The hill isnt a problem coming back from the square especially after a few cocktails! The hotel was immaculately clean and the rooms were comfortable. The company was fantastic at the hotel people of all ages got to know each other and converstions would carry across the pool! we had a fantastic time and i would recommend it to anybody... also a its on a hill it is lovely and quiet but myself being only 21 and my cousin 18 we wanted a good time and there are plenty of bars in the square. i would recommend kelfos and long island for a 'younger' scene. all in all 10/10 and we would love to go back next year :)

went here on our honeymoon. probably couldnt have found a better place to go. apart from the 2hour transfer from airport.
Staff are great. effy the barman is a top bloke and very funny. paul in the dining hall very nice and effiocent, quickly learned room number and preferance of drink with meal and is another top bloke. benny is quietly efficent on the maintenance side. the reception staff are polite and helpful, even if bill could do with cheering up abit.
Food was good. restuarant menu-good choice and plenty to eat. yes there was alot of egg on the menu, but you dont have to eat it. bar menu-also a good choice.
bar at night was fun filled and very friendly.
weather was unusually poor, 4days of real sun, 2days of rain and a thunderstorm.
resort was quiet, lots of greeks on holiday there. was plenty for us brits to drink tho.

Back again for the 9th year. As expected we were greeted by Effe & Benny. Got settled in and off to the pool to cool down after the journey. Then to the bar for a welcome drink with the staff, Bill, Pat, Effe and the new young lady behind the bar (can't remember her name)The rooms were spotless as usual, the breakfasts were varied though we mainly have continental with rolls and what ever is on offer and a few cups of coffee. The evening 3 course meals are excellent and value for money. The pool and pool area is cleaned daily and most of the sun loungers have now been replaced since the "Fire" around 2 years ago. All the rooms have a sea view and its always nice to sit out on the room balcony looking out at the views with a nice cool beer or glass of wine.
The staff always have time to talk and always offer any help or information if required.
Hope to see you all again in June 2010 and have already booked.
Look after yourselves see you soon.
P.S. It is very handy if you can hire a car to get out and about the penninsula as there are some lovely beaches and not crowded.

We got back from Hilltop last week and would recommend it to anyone. The brochure pictures really do not do the place justice. The staff were friendly and welcoming especially Effe who is the life and soul of the place! The hotel is exceptionally clean and ran like clockwork.
As for the steep hill that is cropping up again and again on here, it really isn't bad and I don't remember anybody having any real difficulties.
Mike and Glenis, Hilltop redeemed its quizzing self by staging a quiz on the wednesday night before we left. Unfortunately we didn't do you justice with a measly 5th place!
Possibly the only downer on the place was that it seemed some people struggled getting in their rooms!! (I think that old guy is still trying to get in Mike!)
Hanioti itself was a pretty town with a lively night life. Kelfos cocktail bar is a must try for anyone. We spent many hours and euros there.
Overall we had a great time and met some fantastic people (Mike, Glenis, Les, Sue & Effe of course!). We will return in the future I'm sure for another great break.

We have just returned from a superb two week holiday at the Hilltop, where the big news (apart from someone called Michael Jackson dying) was the ruthless cancellation of the second weeks quiz night in a cold hearted move to make sure that “The eight of us” would not retain their crown from the previous week. I will be asking the British Embassy to look into this when they can, but in the meantime…..
This was our first time at the Hilltop and we found it to be everything that it was cracked up to be. It does not surprise me to hear that people return there every year. It is clean, beautifully situated above the town and has fantastic views over the bay. We got on well with all of the staff, particularly Effe, who as well being “mine host” was studying for his exams in early July. (If anyone ever reads this review in the future and can let me know how he got on it would make my wife very happy!)
Hanioti itself is small but lively and we managed to eat in a different place every night (Stork was our favourite) The drinks prices were about the same where ever we went but occasionally and for no particular reason we would get charged a crazy price. Perhaps being drunk a lot of the time was asking for it!
All in all I would recommend the Hilltop for anyone who wants a relaxing, happy holiday and would like to thank Lynda and Phil, Lynda, John and Penny, and Les and Sue for their company, and making the holiday special for us
