It is typical of people who do not do their research to then have a go at the hotel! The Hilltop is a lovely, warm and inviting place to stay. Many return because of the warm invite and attention you get throughout their holiday. It seems to me you chose the wrong hotel for your family, that's not the fault of the hotel.....! If I may suggest, you look for a Superfamily or equivalent for your next holiday! The family who own this hotel go out of their way to help in any way possible, but there are always some guests who blame the hotel for you not taking the time to find the best option for your family. Shame on you for blaming the Hilltop for YOUR mistake!!!

Great Hotel in a lovely location, even though its on a hill (the name should give it away),the rooms are clean and simple. The pool area was set out well with fab views but the pool itself had a dirty tide mark all around it it was a shame as it is such a nice area. The pool bar was very reasonable and the food was good, breakfast was the best I have had in Greece but then I love eggs.I would definately stay here again.

Just returned from our second trip to The Hilltop. We were a group of 10 of mixed ages.
The staff were all welcoming and friendly. Our accommodation was very clean.
There are always plenty of sunbeds available beside a beautiful pool.
Breakfasts are varied and there is a good choice of food, plenty available.
A good pool bar serving a good selection of lunchtime food. The drinks are priced very fairly both at the pool bar and in the hotel.
We did not find a problem with the short hill on return to the hotel after visiting the town.
Hanioti town is a pleasantly busy town at night, no evidence of drunken behaviour. There are loads of places to eat, all very friendly and welcoming.
We all had a brilliant time and would recommend this hotel.
We will definitely be returning some time.
Thanks for a great holiday.

BE WARNED,DONT GO THERE...The brochure says for couples and familys,i say its just for couples who dont like doing anything as there is nothing much to do,nothing to do at all for children or teenagers{apart from the pool ,which i will get to soon}.The rooms are very dirty as they are full of dust and other peoples bodily hairs{dont look under the bed}and as for the toilet it was not washed/bleached/scrubed or cleaned in anyway or form for the whole fortnight{as with the bedroom area}.The pool had a very large dirty/slimey tide mark all the way round it{as did the childrens}were people had wrote their names and oscenenities in it,half of the sun loungers were riddled with cigarete holes and some had nuts and bolts missing from them, also the underwater pool lights have sharp edges here and there, were people have cut their toes/feet{3 people that i know of cut their feet while i was there}.
The breakfast leaves a lot to desired ,eggs, eggs, eggs, eggs some other stuff, more eggs, melon, biscuits, dry buns, eggs.well if you like eggs your sorted. The pool bar did have a descent range of dinner time snax but the night time menu was very poor. Finally the freindly american/greek family that own/run the hotel arnt, and nobody in the village likes the english.

What a wonderful hotel this is. The location was idyllic with views across the bay. The walk back up the hill was not a problem to my wife and i however, the last fifty yards are quite steep and not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The hotel was of a size that allowed everyone to get to know each other even if only nodding heads but there is always a conversation to be had with somebody. The breakfasts were we thought very varied by Greek standards and there was always plenty to choose from. Lunch can be ordered by the pool bar and included anything from Greek dishes to nuggets and chips for the kiddies. Everyone we spoke to seemed really happy with the quality of food and although we preferred to eat out in the town, people who ate in the restaurant all said what good value it was, i think it was 9 Euro for 3 courses. The staff at the hotel were all really pleasant and the rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. Gianni deserves a special mention as he always had a smile on his face, mixed very well with the guests and performs several functions like running the Karaoke, Greek night, waiter, serving breakfasts etc. Effe the barman was a nice polite lad and Benni the gardener was pleasant too.All in all we would recommend this hotel to anyone, it is easy to see why so many of the guests there return year after year. So as Gianni says "Thanks for coming" "Bingo" and several more. Enjoy your holiday !

Well what can i say just come back and we had a fantastic time, didnt want to leave, the staff are very friendly and make you feel part of the family,
The rooms are simple but very very clean, and the views are amazing, the breakfast wasnt up to much but hey,
Its the perfect place to relax, theres about a 4 minute walk to the very pretty and beautifull town of Hanioti, you do have to go down a slight hill and i mean slight as long as you are fit and well then you'll be ok, there were 5 of us from the age of 5 to 58 and we were all fine
do go there as you'll have a great time

Me and my friends Kim and Danielle had an amazing time. The hotel staff are friendly and informative about the local town. There was a small hill to reach the town but if you are fit it is manageable (like we are).
The Greek night was really fun and entertaining, they made sure everyone was involved. There was also a karaoke which was fun to watch although we did not sing as we can't!
The town was friendly and there are a lot of bars and resturants to go to. The beach was about a ten minute walk and there are food stalls along the beach in case you get hungry. There are many water sports which are a lot of fun and cheaply priced!
Its a fun family holiday and if you are a bit older to just chill out and relax. However I do not recommend this hotel to the elderly or people who have problems walking as the hill is rather steep.
WE WILL BE RETURNING THIS YEAR CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU EFFE GIANNA and BENNNIE

A very good holiday here at Hilltop Hotel. The staff are friendly and the hotel itself is very nice and clean. It deserves to be a 3 star hotel, not a 2 star.
The excursions run by Thomson are excellent; I recommend the sunshine cruise if you like the sound of diving off a big wooden ship into the clear blue water and swimming across to the beach which has its own bar! Do note however, that when I did this trip there were lots of jellyfish about. They were harmless though; some people even played with them and put them on their heads for a photograph!!
Do also visit the local tour shop by the square towards the beach. They also do excursions and Greek nights cheaper. We attended that Greek night for 30 euros. We got free food and wine, we were entertained by Greek dancers who involved us all, and then finished off the evening by getting the ladies to dance on a table! (Greek tradition of course!)
The food made at the hotel for lunch and dinner was very good. The menu has a good selection of food. I will warn you however that Greek style breakfasts are rather unusual - i.e. lots of bread, cake and biscuits as well as egg on toast etc.
It was nice to sunbathe by the pool and dip in and out the water to cool down. The pool area is nice and has its own bar and lunch service. We spent most of our time by the pool.
The walk to the beach is not far, about 5-10 minutes. There are pedalos, canoes and fast donut/banana rides for you to enjoy. The only annoying thing is the walk back up tp the hotel. The short uphill walk is slightly steep and in the midday heat it can be a bit tiring! Evening time it is not a problem.
There is a town square down the hill which is very lively in the evenings with bars, restaurants and shops. We tried a different restaurant almost every night for 2 weeks, and have no bad word to say, except the service provided by the Chinese / Indian restaurant is not welcoming, but the food is good. All other restaurants are excellent.
Make sure you try a "fishbowl". This is a very large cocktail (of any kind) which comes in sizes from 2 people up to 12 people! Four of us once shared a 12 man cocktail - it was very impressive!!
The holiday rep will tell you that the bottles of water you can purchase from the hotel bar is the cheapest around at 1 euro for a big bottle. However we discovered that you can get it at half the price from the nearby supermarket!
I would certainly consider going to Hilltop Hotel again in the future. The 7 of us each had a great holiday.

We visited the Hilltop in July o7 and had a fantastic holiday! Travelling were 3 adults (40 something’s) 16yr old daughter and 11 yr old niece. We were met at the hotel by Effi and Gianni who took our luggage to our rooms immediately. Check in was so easy and the entire hotel staff are so friendly and speak excellent English.
The rooms were immaculate and had a lovely balcony. Cleaned every day and air con (which was extra but essential as the weather topped 40 deg) The pool area was kept immaculate by Benny the gardener and the pool bar served lovely reasonably priced snacks at lunchtime.
The Greek night was great fun and karaoke also good laugh. Small and friendly hotel meant easy to get chatting to other guests. Breakfast was nice, not too much choice but good by Greek standards.
The evening meals were excellent value at hotel for only 7 euros you could have a lovely 4 course meal served by Gianni. 10 min walk into town. Hanioti has loads for every one without being tacky.
Lots of nice restaurants, our favourites were Pallinis and Zorbas. Love Street was also nice for pre dinner drinks.
The staff are to be commended but especially Effi who was so friendly and helpful and great with the kids and teenagers.
If you stay at the Hilltop you will have a lovely time

Hilltop Hotel
The hilltop was a friendly family run hotel; situated only 10 minutes stroll from the beach. (As the name suggests the Hotel is situated on a hill and it is fairly steep!)
It is very reasonably priced and the hotel offers breakfast and dinners served by Gianni.
The pool is fantastic for those who don't want to pop down to the beach.

Visited the Hilltop Hotel, Hanioti, for the first time after reading such good reviews about it.
The hotel lived up to its reputation, the staff were great, the moment the coach pulled up they were there helping to take your luggage.
The hotel was clean, rooms cleaned every day. The rooms were of a good size although the showers are smallish.
Waking into Hanioti took about 15 min's via the path in front of the hotel. Plenty of places to eat in town all pretty well.
We were a bit worried about the fire damage around the resort from last Autumn ,all the hills at the back of the hotel were badly damaged, but the vegetation has come back fast minus the trees.
We got a good deal on car hire at reception, half the price of Thomson. If you are heading for this part of Greece the Hilltop is well worth considering ,I would go back again.
