Just got back from a week there. The hotel is very clean and the maid service is amazing fresh sheets and towels 6/7 days, floor cleaned and balcony. The pool is lovely and kept at a nice temperture. You'll always be able to find free sunbeds and if not they have a pile of them to grab. We had breakfast in the pool bar/eating area which was lush and very good value for money.
We had no noise problems but agreed that we may of had one of the best rooms (G4 no. 306) sea view one side pool view the other.
The people in kalamaki are really nice, cavo doro supermarket for example.
Beach was clean and the water too.
Only thing was that we had to pay for the aircon. After a very hot sleepless night we paid the 7 euros a night for it which added up to 42euros (way too much)!! Didnt like having to pay for it but couldnt live without it!
Overall we had an amazing time!

Not long back from a 2 week stay here my girlfriend and I absolutely loved it ! in process of booking for later this year.
Rooms are very clean , maid service 6 days a week. Bars in hotel are excellent and pool is great. Hotel has a restaurant attached to it called Roof Garden - its a must ! You will never leave here hungry - FACT.
At night 2 mins taxi run away from laganas for all your pubbing and clubbing if you like the busy noisey nightlife and then back to kalamaki for a quiet nights kip .
All staff here are fantastic specially Yiannis , John and becca !
Only 2 - 300 yds from the beach and same in opposite direction to main strip in Kalamaki.
Recommend this place big time.

Hi, Just got back from cava doro apartments after a 2 week stay, had a great time after a bad start, Just a word of warning if you are going here & are given the key for room 101 give it back cos it must be the worst room in the hotel. We were unfortunate to be allocated this room but for the next 3 days asked to be moved as we had no sleep due to the noise from the bar, also people coming in from the nights out had to pass our veranda which is ground floor to get to their apartments. & although we were not early birds our selves we weren't ones for coming in at 3am so I would stay well clear of this room . Must say thanks to yannis who did her best & got us moved after 3 days. The only other thing I would say is the blocks echo so even people walking up the stairs can be heard so not a place for those who like to have the odd early night cos you are guranteed to be woken up, but apart from that all the staff are very helpful & friendly.

We have been to the Cava D'oro seven times now, usual last week in May for 2 weeks and last week in June for 2 weeks. We had found the perfect holiday and that is why we went back every year. This year our first holiday was as expected heaven. the second two weeks we might just as well booked into Laganas. We did not get a room that was requested and we were over the shop with 4 single beds in, when there was only 2 of us, surrounded by three other rooms. We arrived on the Thursday 28th June by the Sunday we thought world war 3 had broken out. Music, laughing and disgusting language, all rooms let to teenagers. I have nothing against anyone having a good time but at 4 in the morning for a whole week I do object. Complaints fell on deaf ears from the reception. The following Sunday when they went home we thought peace at last and a nights sleep, but no more girls came in. I am not surprised the English girls get a bad name abroad. Again nothing was solved. I have never been so glad as to leave the Cava D'oro as I was on the Thursday 12th July. We have complained to Thomas Cook since July and they do not want to know. They just say that there is nothing stopping groups of same sex booking family orientated hotels which is what the Cava D'oro used to be until June this year. We will go back to Kalamiki but never again stay at the Cava. Bar in the Cava great, Akis, Alison and Jannis great, Maggie on entertainment excellent. Michelos for food fantastic.

Cavo Doro was a very comfortable, clean and refreshing location to stay. The rooms were always clean and fresh, and the pool was gorgeous. The staff were polite, friendly and extremely helpful.
If I were to go to Greece again, I would most definitely consider staying at Cavo Doro again. The actual site was also beautiful, there were many plants and trees. There was a bar situated by the pool which allowed you to have lunch there as well as enjoy a drink.
There is also a restaurant at the front of the hotel as well as a bar, which serves excellent and purely delicious meals. Air Conditioning was also an option which was kindly offered by staff. Sun beds were always available. And there was always a positive and enjoyable atmosphere amongst Cavo Doro. The hotel is close to many shops and restaurants, however we were never disturbed by any noise.

We stayed at the Cavo Dora this June 2007 and were very disappointed with it. When you go into reception to check-in its like walking into a pub in Britain, not the best place for a reception area and safety deposit boxes.
The bar is right on the other side. Yanis was brilliant in the bar I have to say. It was more like a mans pub though and I wasn’t impressed with it. Most of the other hotels had their bars outside which is what we were used to when we go abroad.
We had to find our own way to our room which was like a block of flats! The room was very basic with no storage space anywhere. The bathroom was like a river when you had a shower because the Greeks don’t have shower curtains. The shower itself was a hand held one and not very good at all. I know your room is only a base but this one was ridiculous and have never stayed in such a small room and wasn’t at all impressed with it.
Kalamaki itself is a lovely place and the Cavo Doro is just 10 mins from the lovely beach. The sea is so warm and safe to swim in. We’d definitely go back to Kalamaki but we’d stay in a different hotel, we saw quite a few nice ones there. The people in Kalamaki are lovely and make you so welcome, especially the people who kept the shop next to the Cavo Doro and Derrick and Monica who run the lighthouse restaurant. The food there was wonderful. There are a lot of places to eat on your doorstep and all quite reasonable. There’s quite a few nice little gift shops on the way down to the beach too.
The pool area at the Cavo Doro was nice, not disabled friendly though as my husband is on crutches he did find it hard to get about. The gardens were well kept and always looked lovely.
We were bed and breakfast but the breakfasts were very basic; just cereal, meat rolls, eggs etc. I suppose for the money we paid we didn’t expect the Ritz but a comfy room would have been nice. The only good thing about the room was they did provide a fridge, kettle and toaster which you don’t always find when you’re on a B&B tariff. I have to say the room was kept pretty clean by the cleaners and was well decorated and if you don’t mind a really basic room and a bit of a noisy bar then you would probably enjoy yourself here.
We made the best of a bad thing because the island of Zante more than made up for it. If you want to book trips don’t go with the reps because they rip you off. There’s a good place to go if you turn right out of the Cavo Doro and its the first one on the left. We booked all our trips with him. The Mustang Bar was a good bar to go to as was the cave and the safari. I wasn’t impressed with our rep she was very young and I felt she didn’t have the experience to deal with any complaints we may have. The only one she dealt with really well was when we had some rowdy lads in and she got them out of the Cavo Doro, but all in all we weren’t impressed with her.
There’s a good bus service that takes you to different places on the island and the taxis are quite reasonable to. Its definitely not a hotel we’d stay in again but we would go back to Kalamaki as it is a lovely place.

Our experience at Cava D'oro was similar to another reviewer.
We were in block G2 room 224. We had 4 beds for the two of us! (over shop). We were surrounded by groups of young girls on all sides.
Like others we were told they were Laganas Overspill. Every night was Laganas Disco time, out by 10pm back at 4 - 6am, drunk, music, shouting, furniture re-arrangement, foul language, banging etc. so we at the age of 62 were subjected to this carry on when the holiday was sold to us as "ideal for couples and families" by Thomas Cook.
Complaints were lodged, girls warned but the problem continued just the same.
This was our 6th time at Cava D'oro also like others and probably our last. We feel badly let down by Thomas Cook.
Cava D'oro bar good, staff great - Akis and Yannis. Food excellent in Michaelos.

Sixth time at this hotel. Previously very enjoyable. This time, we could have had Studio which sleeps 2 for £200 cheaper but decided that Studio 2 + 1C would be a little bigger and therefore more comfortable. On arrival, not so. We were allocated the smallest self-catering studio in the Cavo Doro. Room 205 in block G1. No space here for 1C. There was no window or ventilation in the toilet/shower. The balcony never got any sunshine all day!! We persevered, but wished we'd save the £200. The toilet cistern kept filling (faulty washer) and was connected to the hot water. As the noise was quite annoying during the night, we reported this to reception. Nothing was done. Still persevering. Second week - going home Thursday - four young lads were moved into Room 206 on Saturday. Apparently Laganas is full so they have 'allocated on arrival' to the 'family and couples' Cavo Doro. Noise (including the foul language) as they continue to party until 3.30am when they are asked to be quiet. We complained about the noise disturbing our sleep during our holiday and we are told that they will be warned. Three of the lads seem to understand that they may go out, make as much noise as they want to but be quiet when they get back to their room. Unfortunately, the fourth could not care less and was determined to continue his night out at 5am in the mornings. Shouting, laughing, a couple of dips in the pool, back to the room, argue with his mates, move a few bits of furniture, continue laughing, turn off the electricity, be persuaded that perhaps he ought to disappear before the hotel management come to call. Eventually, 6.30am all is quiet again. Girl at reception says it's OK because she has spoken with them. Later, the lady at reception was not amused, as she was not told anything of it and would ensure that they get a second 'good telling off'. By now, we've made our minds up that the Cavo Doro is not the lovely place it once was. The Tour Operators don't seem to care any more. They never used to put single sex groups in the hotel. I was also thinking the offer to give another chap 'a knock and we'll both go around and put them to sleep' might have been a more satisfying solution than putting up with the disturbance. We are never going back. Big shame because the local people there are absolutely lovely. If you are going, we hope you enjoy. Zante - my 4th visit to island
Last week of the season. Booked in advance- really cheap. Booked a studio, but appears that this hotels version of a studio is in fact more like a 1 bed apartment. Typical Greek kitchen - fridge and 3 rings, but generally clean, although had to ask for change of blankets- they smelt. Beds a bit lumpy- but yes its Greece!!
Pool area clean with lots of beds. Pool bar, main bar and restaurant were cheap, clean and friendly.
As expected, much of resort closed down, but still some nice eating places open (Merlis the best), and lots of tourist shops. Fairly cheap taxi (or cheaper bus) around the island
Airport facilities poor. £3 for a small drink, £4 for a large bag of crisps.

stayed in cavo d'oro for 2 weeks at the end of June, it was fantastic and was well worth the money the maids were excellent and the room we had (G4 306) was great.
The staff in both the pool bar and the front bar were superb, john, becka, Gaz and yannis and also the 2 boys in the day, nothing was too much trouble.
Met some fantastic friends who I hope we'll see again (they ar coming to Cardiff in September). If your thinking about going to Zante you could do an awful lot worse than staying here.
The locals in Kalamaki are so friendly and the mood is relaxed a big thanks to Akis also,, we will definately be back...
