Avoid, avoid, avoid !
Ten reasons why not to go to Myramar Castle Beach.
1) Building work starts at 7am, lasts all day and surrounds hotel.
2) Food cold, no taste, no variety.
3) "Avoid using the footbridge for security reasons", dodge the motorway traffic instead.
4) Main Spanish motorway that passes in front of hotel, between you and the beach.
5) 8 muggings outside hotel in the middle of the day.
6) Staff friendly but not willing to put themselves out.
7) Views from hotel Motorway, Building site, car park, Did I mention the huge shopping complex? Oh, if you’re on first floor and very lucky the pool.
8) Entertainment! Ive seen entertainment that’s ten times better in the local working mens club.
9) On arrival they take £60 / 100 Euros for breakages deposit, the first we heard about this was when getting room at reception desk.
10)Drinks in bar pricey, after all they've got you, its risky to go out at night.
My suggestion.. bottle of wine on the balcony, better still book Salou.
Happy holidaying.

Apr 2007, Mrs LJ Collard

We recently stayed at the Castle Beach for a week.
On arrival the hotel seemed nice but to our concern there was building works being done across the street. Which they started at 07.30 every morning, and went on until 8.30pm every evening.
There were also re-laying the football area which was right below our room, again they started at 8am and went on all day.
We had 2 young children with us who were woken up every morning by the noise; I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

My husband and I have just returned from a 6 week holiday staying at Castle Beach.
This was our first long stay holiday and were a bit wary, but this turned out to be one of our best holidays so far.
The bonus was having an apartment as well as being half board. The food was excellent, and staff very friendly.
Situation of the hotel was ideal 10-15min walk to the centre of Feungirola, although a bus run every 30mins from just outside the hotel.
Will certainly book again for next year. Bar prices were a bit pricey.

This Hotel is both self catering and half board. The rooms are spacious, modern, well equipped and very clean maid service is good and often.
The hotel complex includes a large outdoor swimming pool, plenty of sun beds, indoor pool, Jacuzzi, library. There is an outdoor relaxation area where you can have a massage by a qualified person and there are chairs available which are similar to hammocks if you just want to relax or read a book.
There is a pub with friendly staff and televisions. The restaurant area is clean, comfortable and the staff are friendly the food is fresh, hot, chilled and lots to choose from for every specific diet and you even get a free bottle of wine with your evening dinner.
There is entertainment inside the hotel in a large bar room and also next to the outdoor pool a bar and stage that is used for entertainment as well.
There is a large shopping complex just behind the hotel that has a variety of shops, restaurants and even a cinema with a screen in English.
The local town with an abundance of shops is either a ten minute walk or there is a local bus which stops outside the hotel and runs every 30 minutes which will take you to the town area and the beach is only a short walk from the main town shopping area.
The only thing I would fore warn anyone staying at this hotel is that upon arrival you have to pay a refundable deposit for the room (damage or breakages) which is around £60 cash or you can use your credit card, don’t damage anything and you get it back at the end of your stay.
I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now and would recommend it for families, couples or just friends.

This has to be one of the best hotels...

This has to be one of the best hotels in the area. Good clean rooms. The staff are good. Reasonable quality of meals. Massive pool.
The downside is that the hotel is a long way from the town centre.

Cleaners visit every couple of days and two good bars, though the prices are a little high.

I have been to the Castle Beach twice...

I have been to the Castle Beach twice (2004 & 2005) and found it to be an excellent choice.
The reception area is spacious and airy and staff are helpful and friendly. Comfortable sofas are also provided in the lobby to relax on before heading out for the evening.
Rooms are very clean, comfortable and modern with extremely well equipped self catering facilities, large bedrooms, spacious balconies and marble bathrooms.
The pool area is spacious shelving down gently into the deep end. Children’s pool, Jacuzzi and indoor pool are also available along with a gym and health and beauty centre.
There are a number of bars on site including an Irish style bar as well as a buffet restaurant. Most bars hold several 'happy hours' during the day.
Entertainment is provided all day every day by both Airtours and the hotel's own entertainment team and is of a high standard. Kids clubs run throughout the summer and include a Crèche and one for the teenagers.
The beach and resort centre are a 10-15 minute walk away, however a bus stop can be found directly opposite the property and taxis are cheap.
This property is a good choice for those in seek of a relaxed family holiday with entertainment and something to keep the kids happy. I would recommend it to any age group as it has something for everyone including large groups, couples and anybody with walking difficulties.

Hotel a little way out, 2 miles from town. rooms very good and clean beds, a little used, could do with new ones.
Some ants in rooms. Bar prices high. Hotel staff always helpful. Massive big pool. Entertainment basic, put on by reps and some hotel staff.
Food same stuff most nights, very little most nights if you are a vegetarian.

We returned from the Castle Beach...

Sep 2006, Mrs K King

We returned from the Castle Beach Apartments a month ago and the happy memories of the holiday are still fresh in my mind!
The apartments were a good size for 3 or 4 but a little squashed I would think if there were 5 of you. The air-conditioning was efficient and so cold at night we had to turn it off at times! The kitchen area was big enough to manage preparation of breakfast and lunch, and the bathroom has a shower AND bath so you can all get ready at once. Towels were changed every other day but some of them were a bit bald, and looked a bit ancient!
The complex is clean and the pools were fine - the big pool has a very odd arrangement though at the bottom of the shallow area where it suddenly slopes off - we all slipped on it. The lifeguards keep a close eye on the large pool and don't allow inflatables in there, which is a real bonus - kids can use them in the small pool however.
The entertainment is exactly what you'd expect from a 'Costa' holiday - kids disco followed by bingo or a quiz then the show for the night - anything from a magician and flamenco (which were both great) to cabaret artists and the usual embarrassing audience participation shows (which weren’t great!).
If you want to go out into Fuengirola get a bus – they stop right outside the hotel and it’s only 90 cents each to go anywhere along the bus route. Fuengirola has LOADS of restaurants to eat in, there’s a street running parallel to the sea front called ‘Fish Alley’ where you’ll find most of them. We got a taxi back, which was about 7 euros (£5.00) – well worth it for the convenience.
If you do excursions the Dolphin boat trip to Gibraltar is fab – we saw loads of dolphins, really close to the boat. You get some time for shopping after as well. We walked to the Aqua Mijas water park which is only 15 mins away, although it’s well hidden.
The apartments ARE a little isolated but it’s not a problem unless you’re absolutely bone idle and can’t be bothered to walk, in which case – go somewhere else! The advantage of being out in the sticks is that you have the Miramar mall opposite which is great for browsing and shopping, there’s a huge supermarket there.
On the other side of the hotel is Dunnes stores – an odd cross between a clothing/home store and a supermarket – very handy for any items you’ve forgotten! This is where you have to cross the infamous ‘gypsy’ bridge where apparently muggers loiter waiting to steal your handbags – but we only saw other holidaymakers – and we didn’t cross it at night. You can stand on the bridge and feed the turtles though, which is entertaining – there are loads of them in the river below...
In summary, if you don’t mind being away from all the hustle and traffic (and the traffic is horrendous) of the main resort and you don’t mind a bit of walking or getting on buses to find things – you could do a lot worse that to go to the Castle Beach Apartments!

We went to the Myramar Castle Beach and I thought it was great! I am an 11 Year old girl who is writing this review. I loved the mini disco at night and I thought the staff were really helpful and The Entertainer group were fabulous! I made lots of friends there!
I loved the Chinese over the Bridge "Wok" Just 2 mins across and your there! The big shopping mall is great, designer, girls, loads of stuff and Dunnes store is brilliant! Me and my dad and my mum went to the waterpark over the road 5 mins away as well as the Zoo that were both great! I would strongly recommend you visit there and enjoy it because certainly enough I did!

Aug 2006, Miss N Tapson

We have just got back from a fantastic holiday at this hotel. We were travelling as a family with 2 children age 3 and 1.
The rooms are very clean and a reasonable size. We opted for half board and had breakfast and evening meal every day. There was always a good range of choices and the food was good.
The pool is the best pool you can get for young children I dont think you will find any better! My 3 year old joined the kids club which she loved and went to a party on the Saturday.
Fuengirola zoo is definately worth a visit if you have young children. The beach is quite a distance; you can get a bus but we waited for ages for a one. Get a taxi back!
Overall an excellent holiday would definately go back - but for longer than 1 week as this was not long enough!

The Castle Beach hotel is 1st class....

Aug 2006, Mr D Wright

The Castle Beach hotel is 1st class. We have 3 girls aged 11, 9 and 5 and the staff couldn't possibly have done more to keep them entertained and happy.
This was our 4th year running of holidaying with direct holidays (all different locations) and as always we have no complaints. The hotel was clean and modern with superb facilities and the room was very spacious and cleaned 4 times a week. We ate at the hotel restaurant (buffet style) about 4 times and the food was varied and very nice.
The rest of the fortnight we walked into the town centre which took about half an hour but was a very pleasant walk. The evening entertainment at the hotel was ok with the kids enjoying the discos and all the entertainment staff (especially Mark and Christina) did a brilliant job fighting against dodgy speakers!
We had 2 trips out, Gibraltar and Fuengirola zoo and we would recommend them both. The wife and eldest daughter especially liked the shopping centre next door to the hotel with its many designer shops. All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

The hotel accommodation was 1st class...
9 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr M Carr

1 reader found this review helpful

The hotel accommodation was 1st class and the rooms where cleaned everyday, with fresh towels been replaced, the beach was a 10 minute walk and was fine as where all the facilities round about it, the bridge that we where warned about was ok to cross as we did this a few times.
There is plenty to do during the day with travel excursions or visits to the water parks and zoo and you can travel to Benalmadena for 1.2 euros, we went to Gibraltar twice and I would highly recommend it but book it with a travel agents as it works out cheaper, at night they had great entertainment for the kids and the entertainers where 1st class with the kids.
The down side to the holiday was the staff in the aqua bar who always tried to con you with your change so just keep an eye on them, and when they do bingo and open the box you don't get cash if you win just vouchers also the facilities for kids are a con as they charge you for everything, but apart from that I would go back there again as my kids (aged 14 girl & 8 boy) had the time of their life and that let mum and dad relax with other holiday makers.
There is a supermarket 5 mins walk from the complex where you can get loads of food and drinks and other essentials if you are self catering and it is very cheap.
