The Haiti apartments were in a perfect location, very close to the beach but close enough for the shops bars and restaurants. The views from the balcony were stunning; we could have sat and watched the sea for ever.
The apartments were clean and the hotel staff very friendly. We used to stay at the Tomanaco at the back of the resort but we couldn’t get in this year so we tried the Haiti and now this is our favourite.
Can’t wait to go back next year.

I visited the Haiti Apartments with my husband and 3 children for our first family holiday.
When we first arrived on the coach the apartments looked awful and we were not best pleased. However, upon entering the apartment we were pleasantly surprised with what we found. It was sparkly clean with a new bathroom, good sized kitchen area, very spacious lounge area with a balcony sporting a gorgeous view over Puerto Rico beach and harbour.
The two bedrooms were bright and had full wall wardrobes so there was plenty of storage space. One of the wardrobes contained a safe. The only bad thing about our apartment was that there was a steel spiral staircase outside our bedroom windows that made a lot of noise when inconsiderate families would run up and down them early hours of the morning.
The staff were very friendly and always interested to know what you've been up to and they are always happy to help.
Unfortunately, the restaurant was only open in the mornings for breakfast, never in the evenings so we always had to leave the apartments for an evening meal and for some sort of entertainment. The pool bar was open some afternoons but not for very long.
The weather was beautiful for the two weeks that we were there with only two afternoons of cloud cover but it was still 30 degrees.
This was the second time that myself and my husband have been to Puerto Rico and we will definitely be going again, although I don't think we would stay at the Haiti again as there is no kids club, the pool is quite small and the restaurant is never open. Don't let this put you off altogether though as we really did have a lovely holiday.

May 2006, Miss L Collins

It is brilliant here if you haven’t been, come it is beautifully located to the beach, there might be a few steps but there's no rush you don't have to run down them, walk slowly or get a taxi or go the other way where you just have to walk through the town a little to get there first.
The beach is lovely yellow and blue sun beds and they are very cheap and you can rent them out all day. The bays on the beach are lovely especially if you are up and out early for breakfast it is peaceful and quiet well more than any other part of the day and the tuna salad is lovely Take a trip on a boat to Port Mogan it is beautiful there not as busy and many places to go and to see, many boats, many lovely coloured fish you can see from walking along the edge.
Playa del ingles is gorgeous as well, I am telling you, you can't go wrong on this holiday you might have a day or gloomy clouds and an odd touch of rain but that's the worst that you'll get and it's still pleasant and warm and there’s loads to do there, even if you just go for a walk, watch the sunrise, sit outside, have an ice cream, its lovely there. I strongly recommend that you eat at Le Bolera, it is only a ten minute walk away from the hotel, it might be a bit pricy but it will make your holiday seem worth while and so good that it's one of the good points you think of instantly when you write a review on here when you get back.
The apartment is lovely, friendly people at the reception 24hrs, call take-aways for you if you like, give you a wake up call if required if your flight to leave is at an unearthly hour, so you don’t sleep in they will call you to wake you up. I could not fault it, I’m sure you won’t be able to either. Go on go to the Haiti aparthotel in Puerto Rico you will love it.

Nice room but very basic hotel- small pool and pool bar rarely opened. No entertainment. Good for young holiday makers who just want to go clubbing!

There are A LOT of steps in Puerto Rico- wherever you are staying. This hotel is roughly 200 steps away from the beach and shops/ bars & restaurants, but there is also a big, long slope you can go down if you don’t want to take the steps.
Good news though there are many taxis which are very cheap and reception will call them any time for you. (Reception was manned 24hrs).

First time in Gran Canaria, weather...

First time in Gran Canaria, weather mixed and ranged from glorious sunshine to non stop 12 hour rain storm.
Apartments clean and partly refurbished, (new bathroom & new beds), but are still in need of new kitchen area. Both kettle & toaster are included and were brand new. Both towels and sheets were tatty and if only staying for one week you only get one change of towels.
Most rooms appear to be complete with sea view, but none of them have private balconies and some apartments can be easily accessed from other balconies on the same level.
There is hardly any road noise in the apartments even though they are very closely situated to a busy main road.
Not advisable for those who cannot easily manage hills & steps as there are 166 to get to beach level & 166 back!
The Harbour Lights pub is very welcoming and at this time of year has a 7-12pm happy hour, 3euro's for two pints of San Miguel
Some restaurants appear very friendly, but others only want your business if your going to spend lots of money.
The Italian on the same level as Harbour Lights is great value for money, and downstairs is the Arizona a little more money but a great meal.
The beach is spacious and at this time of year only 2.5euro's for a lounger for the day.

Situated on the top of the hill the apartments were very darkly decorated. The bathroom was in need of refurbishment and the patio areas to the apartments were mostly in the shade.
There were a lot of kids which surprised me for this time of the year. The beach was a long walk down the hill but on the way back we would catch a taxi which cost around 3 euros.
The one place I recommend you eat is LA CHEF at the Europa Centre at the top. The food is excellent reasonably priced the atmosphere is very friendly. I recommend you try whatever you fancy you will not be disappointed. We went down to the bottom to eat and found it not good quality more expensive and not as friendly.
We visited two places and we ended walking out because the staff were serving anybody but the English. The weather was mixed, sometimes cloudy but when the sun came out it was HOT Would definitely go back to Puerto Rico even if its only to eat at the LA CHEF this restaurant is 10/10.

Dec 2005, Mr S Smith

The room was nice and clean and maintained that way by the cleaners. all of the reception staff were friendly and we were made very welcome. the pool area was clean and pool staff were friendly, also a great view from our top floor balcony and it is well positioned, our stay here was fantastic, the bar had a happy hour every night.
we were informed and advised about any bad weather due to the fact that we caught the edge of a tropical storm so there were no worries.

First visit to Gran Canaria at this...

Dec 2004, Mr J McPherson

First visit to Gran Canaria at this time of year, 4th- 11th December, although have been in Puerto Rico twice before during summer. Weather cloudy at times but sunny for a few hours at least almost every day. Rained last day and a half but plenty to do in Puerto Rico despite this for all the family and still warm. Stayed in 2-bedroom apartment at Haiti. Apartment spacious and clean (and had a toaster) although decor a bit dated. Good balcony with good views of Puerto Rico. Staff very pleasant and friendly and always eager to help.
Pool bar opening times a bit erratic. Food in restaurant good and nighttime entertainment provided at times during week although bar closing at 11pm sharp. Quite a few steps down to beach and restaurants along beachfront via bridge across main road (could hardly hear noise from road from apartments) although these are not as bad as they might first appear to be (for able bodied people). Recommend Tex Mex restaurant in shopping centre.
Waiting staff reminiscent of Fawlty Towers, at times getting mixed up over bills and meals, but pleasant (and amusing) and food good. Do not pester you to eat in their restaurant either. Road down to beach and shopping centre quite steep for those not wanting to use steps and pavement can be slippy in flip flops! Enjoyed holiday at Haiti overall and would go back there. Have been at Nisa and Cumana apartments before and this is definitely the best in terms of location for beach, beachfront restaurants and views of Puerto Rico.
