A small complex of seven apartments recently built and run by Jos and Ans, an incredibly hospitable Dutch couple who have turned a small area of jungle some 200 yards from Playa Bonita beach into a tropical paradise, apartments are spacious and clean, the staff are hard-working and friendly and Jos and Ans bend over backward to ensure your holiday is as near to perfection as possible. Playa Bonita is a beach that you can only dream of. It stretches for miles and is all but deserted. Beautiful, sandy and overhung by coconut palms, if you want to feel like castaways...........
And the town? Las Terrenas remains largely unaffected by tourism. The locals are a warm friendly people and we immediately felt comfortable there, even at the carwash on Sunday evening when I think we were the only non Dominicans amongst hundreds, I’ve never danced the Meringue or Barchata until that night and it was an unforgettable experience.
