" fab holiday "
Submitted By: soosidoothe rooms were cleaned daily, the staff were very pleasant and friendly and the restaurant served lovely food with a good choice of food. The entertainments team were great and this was the first time my kids had joined in at the kids club ...and my eldest is 12!!!!!!! the first week was sheer bliss, very relaxing, I would say the guests were about a third each ,English, spanish and German/Dutch..On the down side the resort is very quiet and we were a tad bored by the 2nd week, the excursions weren't great and were really expensive..the first holiday where we've felt we had to watch our pennies. Avoid the dolphin watching tour....we never saw a thing and everyone on the boat was violently sick...except us as we'd taken travel sickness pills...thus people vomiting all over themselves and into bags in front of you ...yum!!!! We like to try somewhere different so we're not going back this year,,,but I would highly recommend it...and we will certainly return in the future.
Advice: fairly quiet...purpose built resort, entertainment centered around the hotels
Activities: mogan a short bus ride away was lovely with some nice shops and harbour side restaurants

" An New Year Holiday -Elaine Bournemouth "
Submitted By: Elaine01The Hotel must have been very nearly full with everyone expecting a fantastic New Year break and that is exactly what we got. OK the buffet style dinner was not exactley 'Gordon Ramsey' but there was always plenty of food, lots of choice and even with a full Hotel it was always easy to get a table with excellent friendly service.
The New Year Gala was slighty over the top as each course was paraded through the restuarant, but it was great service and a really good night. Followed by Fireworks and celebrations at Midnight by the Pool.
The Entertainment wasn't for us, but we had come to relax and were not looking for night life. An English TV channel other than Sky News would have been good, but we survived!
The pool area was excellent and even though the hotel was busy never had a problem getting a sun lounger. I must admit that we very rarely left this spot as the weather in the main was excellent.
We did however venture out one day on the Island Adventure, up in to the mountains and then back round the coast. This was worth every penny (actually quite a few pounds). It was the one bad weather day which actually created more excitement on the trip as the fleet of people carriers had to avoid rock falls and raging waterfalls, along the often single track mountain roads. Not for the faint hearted, but a brilliant day out, one we would thoroughly recommend.
Taurito itself was dissappointing and could have done with a few more bars and restaurants, but there was a handy supermarket for drinks and snacks plus a couple of gift type shops.
We would definantely go back again, but its not the right resort if you are looking for party nights. Its a true 'recharge the batteries' and 'several good books' type of resort.

Submitted By: calma ofyorkshireThere were some irritating charges levied by reception - for fridge hire (a fridge being in all suites), for safety deposit box hire (again in all suites) , bath robe hire, and balcony sunbed hire - we wouldn't have expected this in a 4-5 star hotel. The toiletries in the bathrooms were poor quality and not replaced.
Meals were buffet style - we welcomed the fact that the hotel was only half full as with full occupancy the restaurant would have been difficult to negotiate. At breakfast there was a good choice but dinner was a different matter, the food was mostly uninteresting and unadventurous - again not 4 star and disappointing.
The hotel was half full - there was plenty of room around the pool - but we would imagine at at the height of the season it would be very different.
The free hotel bus to Puerto Mogan and to Puerto Rico was very good. There is little to do in Taurito and the bus provided a welcome change.

Submitted By: Mrs J HarrisonThe plumbing in our suite was not great to start with we had sewage coming up in the bath, however the hotel put this right. Reception staff were excellent and the girls that cleaned our suite. Most of the waiters in the restaurant were good although sometimes slow with clearing plates from tables after each course. Also ordering wine was sometimes slow. Main course food could have been better, I had chicken wings which were undercooked and complained to the head waiter who immediately went to the chef and the wings were taken back into the kitchen.
However the starters and puddings were good. If you use the piano bar make sure you sign for everything you have. We had an incident one day when we signed for two drinks, had another two which we did not sign for as the bar waiter said he would put this on our bill and we did not need to sign. Later that day we were challenged by him that we had not signed for any drinks, he was extremely rude, on reflection we should had called the manager.
We were overcharged and paid for 6 drinks and not 4. Most of the bar waiters were pleasant apart from this one. We did however have a lovely time at the hotel and the resort and enjoyed our holiday at Playa Taurito, even though it was quiet.

Submitted By: Mrs A Paley-HewettWe did do some excursions - Garbos was absolutely brilliant - well worth the money and the camel capers - well, fabulous. A trip to Mogan is a must, what a beautiful place! We also went on a V.I.P. catamaran cruise which was great, the food and drink we were given were very good.
We had a sea view as did all the rooms, but felt that we were at the furthest point of the hotel. It would have been preferable to have been nearer the middle.
My overall feeling is that the hotel does not deserve it's four star rating and certainly should no longer be a Thomson platinum choice. The food on the aeroplane was inedible as well and we were very cramped.

Submitted By: JackieBThere was also a separate sleeping area, sectioned from the living area with built-in wardrobe and a fully-fitted, large bathroom. The hotel is situated in the valley of Taurito which is approximately 4 km from Puerto de Mogan and is surrounded by an imposing coastline of cliffs. Although there was some building work taking place it was not too close to the hotel. All rooms have a sea view, satellite TV, minibar and hairdryer.
In addition to the main restaurant, there is a pool bar and snack bar, from which you can get take-away pizzas, burgers, toasted sandwiches for lunch if you are not on full-board. The quality and choice of food in the main restaurant was of a good standard, however, there was usually a slight delay when ordering drinks from the waiters in the evening.
Entertainment was fairly low-key, comprising of a professional show or pianist in the piano bar. It was usually possible to get sunbeds at most times of day and there was ample space in the swimming pools, one of which was heated. The children’s pool was especially nice for anyone with toddlers. There was direct access to the beach, which although made from natural volcanic sand was quite pleasant for a short stroll and the sea was refreshing.
The rocks in front of the Taurito Princess just across the bay were good for crab watching. There was also an English speaking doctor just outside the Taurito Princess who I can personally recommend should the need arise. There is little in the way of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity although there is a lido, crazy golf and tennis courts for hire and a Spar supermarket with a good range of products.
The hotel bus can be taken to Puerto de Mogan which was quite pleasant or Puerto Rico which was a little too lively for our tastes. We went on a couple of trips organised by the Rep, the first being Sioux City which the children thoroughly enjoyed and the dolphin/whale watching (we did eventually get to see a family of dolphins which was fabulous but the trip back to shore proved a little too much for most occupants of the upper deck!). All-in-all we enjoyed our holiday to Gran Canaria and wouldn't hesitate to return to the Suite Princess.

We were given a double room with interconnecting doors and had two baths showers an loos (his and hers!) the furnishings were top quality and the views over the bay were stunning The hotel is perched on a cliff face and is at the top of a quite steep road so not recommended to anyone less mobile, however the did not bother us as we hired a car from the airport. The resort of Taurito is very quiet and really only has the hotels.

There are no clubs or bars, but just 3 kms away is Puerto Mogan one of the most delightful little ports we have ever seen, called Little Venice its a really lovely laid back harbour and town.

Suite Princess has so much going for it that it seem hard to have to say that for a 4**** hotel the evening entertainment was not as good as we have had in the past. The animation crew seemed to have little imagination other than to play dodgy music till ten o’clock the introduce the act for the evening, most of which were ok but not really inspiring .Given that the hotel was fairly isolated We think they could have made a bit more effort .

We have been in many hotels over the years but we have never seen so many cleaners or as much emphasis on cleaning, the place is truly spotless. However the staff numbers do not extend to the bars where a constantly harassed barman struggles to serve drinks and use some odd method of cashing, that involves getting a bill after he has served 3 other people and you are halfway to finishing your drink

All in all we had a super, relaxing break and would return again given the excellent Thomas Cook deal that we had .P.S if you do decide to tour the island, the road from Mogan to San Nicolas is twenty miles of the most twisting, up and down, hairpin bending road that we have ever seen!

Spectacular but a hairy drive especially when you meet large lorries coming the other way (listen out for their horns!).

As everyone points out, Playa Taurito is really quiet. Sadly, the only minus point I can find for the hotel is that it isn't ! Granted I was there in high season, but it was swarming with children especially into the evening when after the "kiddies disco" they seemed to spend most of the time chasing through the bars, until late.

The hotel dining room, for which there was always a long queue, was also very noisy, and perhaps as a consequence both dining room and bar service were somewhat harassed and haphazard - the food was buffet service, but sometimes getting hold of a waiter to bring the drinks could take half the meal. However, it’s a lovely place to stay and probably better out of high season.

If you go, don’t miss the short drive into Puerto Mogan, a really lovely, picturesque little place.

Submitted By: Miss N A HeadonThe hotel itself is definitely a 5* rating - it’s all done out in marble, with a huge reception area. The rooms are decorated lovely and are more like apartments really as they’re so big and have huge balconies. The view from the balconies is lovely, as they’re overlooking the pool, beach and the nearby Lido, and you get the most spectacular sunsets.
The pools at the hotel are lovely, but can get quite crowded during the day, so we preferred to go to the private beach, which was lovely and peaceful. Be careful of the waves on the beach though, as they could get quite big and on more than one occasion nearly had my bikini bottoms off!!
The hotel itself has 3 bars (2 inside & 1 pool bar), one of which is a piano bar and the other shows entertainment and plays music. We preferred to go into the bar with the entertainment, which we found to be of a very high standard. Some evenings we also went to a bar on the beach, where there was happy hour between 8 & 9pm every night and it would be "buy one get one free". There they have a man playing the piano singing (mostly Barry White songs), but he is really good.
We found the food at the hotel excellent - there is so much selection you wouldn’t believe - all different types of fish and meats and there is a wide variety of seafood. Basically you are spoilt for choice and I put so much weight on throughout the week, that I couldn’t fit into my clothes by the end of the holiday.
Whilst we were there, we mostly lay on the beach during the day, although we did go on one boat trip, which we booked with our rep. The trip went from Puerto Rico and it was going out to sea, dolphin spotting. When arriving at the harbour at Puerto Rico, we found we could have had a trip for much better value if we’d booked it there ourselves, instead of booking it via the rep - we didn’t even spot any dolphins!!
All in all, it was an excellent holiday, although Playa Taurito itself is VERY QUIET. I think it’s mostly catered for couples not families, as children would be very bored there. I would definitely recommend the hotel though, as it’s of a very high standard with a good level of cleanliness.

The resort was next to another resort called Paradise and their facilities such as shows and miniture golf were available to outsiders so that was good as there was nothing in the immediate vacinity. However a short bus ride away were Port Mogan - lovely picturesque harbour and village or the other direction to Puerto Rico for nice beach and the english cheapo stuff. (We used it to see the football)
The main problem I had with this holiday was Thomsom themselves. The gold hotels have effort from the reps in organising games and quizzes. Not here though. Nothing. We booked three trips: The VIP catamaran trip which was OK but nothing special, you wouldn`t complain but it wasn`t quite worth the money. The pick up was left for you to walk to the hotel on the other side of the bay and no rep. When we went he picked up a family that wasn`t on our trip (luckily they were on the next boat along) and left a couple. The Island Tour which was good value I thought and the best way of seeing the island. Lastly we booked to go on the hiking trip which the Thomson rep organised through another company , the pick up again was across the bay with no rep and they didn`t come at all. We ended up arranging our own walking trip to not lose they day completely. When we told the new rep (who was about 17) he didnt even say sorry for the lost trip and told us to come back for the refund that evening so he could discuss with the old rep naomi - meaning we had to cut short anything we were doing to be back for him.
So, in short, I`d reccomend the hotel ,just, but not the food though so book B&B if you go and eat in Puerto Mogan or Puerto Rico. The local buses run regular to both places. Thomson reps were like going back in time 20 years so wouldn`t reccomend booking via them. The rep said at the welcome meeting "It`s not a sales pitch" and then gave a sales pitch like a tupperware-party demonstration. She might as well of said it IS a sales pitch so at least we`d trust her. Then she said "if you get any problems ring the number on the card AND IF I HAVE TO I`LL EVEN COME TO THE HOTEL TO SORT IT OUT..." - don`t put yourself out dear, we only paid a small fortune for this holiday, wouldn`t wanting you putting yourself out with some effort for the guests or anything. To me she should have been arranging activities in the hotel like the gold hotels and going the extra mile as it`s platinum.
Advice: OK , not worth the money. Try Los Gigantes because that is
Activities: Fav Restaurant - the harbour wall at Port Mogan & the ones at Amadoras, Sightseeing: Island delights
