This is the second time we've visited this hotel. The first time was in May 2009. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - the hotel, parks, everything, was 'just magical', just like Disney is!!! We really want to go back again, just have to save those pennies! The food is nice,... more

First time for the family (except me) to Florida so all were excited! Two girls aged 8 and 10 - it’s hard to decide what age to take them to Disney, and while they were probably slightly over the limit for Magic Kingdom, the other parks and rides were spot on. For the... more

This hotel is amazing. Disney know how to look after their guests. The hotel is Disney branded but in a subtle way. The rooms have 2 double beds, table, TV, bathroom with bath, dressing area & wardrobe. The rooms have coffee making facilities and an ice bucket with ice... more

We stayed here in 2001 and were in the mansions. We loved it so decided to return and had requested the mansions but when we arrived we were put in Alligator Bayou which was fantastic in Building 14 which was a close walk to the food court. The room was ok for sleeping in... more

We love this hotel; this was probably our fourth visit there. We had the Disney Dining Plan thrown in when we booked and this saved us loads of money. You could get a breakfast platter and two drinks or counter service meals with a drink and a desert, a daily snack and a... more

Great value hotel. Rooms were of a reasonable size - 2 Queen beds plus roll away if required. Maid service was top class - toiletries left each day. They even made animals out of the facecloths! Water taxi available to Downtown Disney and is included in price. Large food... more

Our third visit to Florida and yet another brilliant holiday. As for the resort very large confusing layout with difficult signage but once you get your bearings its all okay. Food hall was just what you expect overpriced and same old fast food. Cartwright’s Boat House... more

A pleasant, clean room in a very conveniently located hotel on the Disney property. Not exceptional, but easy to get to and from the theme parks. The meals in the food court could be better, but are surprisingly reasonably priced. Lovely swimming pool and nicely... more

After experiencing a 3 star hotel in Disney Land Paris, which was excellent, I was extremely disappointed on arrival at the Port Orleans Hotel. It is in fact more like a 'Motel' with corridors upon corridors of rooms with no balconies. The room itself was drab, dark and... more

Have visited this resort twice previously in the past. My only grumble is the lack of variety in the food available. But for first time visitors to Florida who really want to DO Disney this hotel is ideal. Set in wonderful grounds with a laid back style it is a... more

Riverside (Port Orleans) is tops!
We love Port Orleans Riverside (POR). We love staying in Magnolia bend near 2 bus stops. The pools are quiet, and we go at the height of summer! I truly love this hotel and will stay there time and time again. Some people have reservations about the price. Well, its well worth it if you want to take a mid day nap. The transportation to and from the parks is worth extra money, as well as the early entry into the parks and on select dates, later nights at Magic Kingdom (for about 12 dollars per person). I would request the hotel to families and honeymooners. Magnolia Bend has the same feel as BoardWalk Inn and is about $100 cheaper a night. I've stayed at both and love both, but on a budget, POR is the best!
Couples Vacation
We stayed at this hotel in May of 2002. We have stayed there twice. It is great for couples, no children around making noise. The food court is excellent with a nice variety of foods at an affordable price. The pools are quiet and the mansion bildings are very nice. The property is clean. The oudoor scenery is great and well maintained. They have recreation options such as boating and biking, unlike the All Star resorts. The rooms are pretty plain, not much detail, but all the rooms in the moderate resorts are set up and appear to be the same way. The only problem we had was getting a bell boy to take our luggage. We were promised one all day and wasted 4 hours in the room waiting for him to bring up our luggage. With constant phone calls back and forth, it was an annoyance, but not enough to ruin our trip. Overall I would recommend this hotel again.
Lovely Resort
My Mother and I recently were guest at this Riverside resort in Disney, for three nights from April 8 -11. From the time we checked in till the time we checked out we were very pleased by this resorts service and accomodations. The scenery is amazing with all the Disney amennities one would expect, with picturesque landscapes and boat rides from the marina to and from Downtown Disney were conveinent and enjoyfull. I would recommend this resort to any family on vacation and plan to return in the future. The Style and elegance of the grounds and the resort rooms were awesome. There is always a resort staff member within range to help with any questions or assistance.
enjoyed it a lot
We( 2 kids 5 and 8) stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside early part of December 2002 and loved it. Thought the accomadations were above average and the price that time of year was inexpensive. The buses to the parks came frequently and we took the boat over to Downtown Disney which the kids really loved. We thought the food at the hotel was ok and quick, not much variety though, but not bad. The rooms were nice, big enough. The pools were not crowded. The only down side was that we did have to wait over an 1hr for the bellman to bring our luggage to the room. We would definately stay there again.
My stay at Dixie landings
I stayed heer for two weeks with my family. the accomodation was lovely and spacious. the grounds were beautiful. There was so much choics of food wheher it be the convenient supermarket type restaurant where you help yourself, or a fancy sit down meal. free soft drinks all holiday which is very good especially if spending time by the pool in the heat-can keep going to refill drinks! I have no complints i strongly reccomend staying here. It is certainly one of the most reasonable resorts and I wouldn't have wished for a better complex to stay on. If you go-enjoy!
Great first experience
This was a first trip to Florida for my boyfriend and I. We were very excited when we arrived at Port Orleans Riverside. The line was very long to check in, but I expected that anyways, considering Orlando is quite a popular place. We had a great time. We bought a mickey mouse mug for 10.00 at the food court where we could refill it as many times as we wanted to for the length of our stay. The pool was open 24 hours so it's great for people that like to go out to the clubs at night. Overall, I thought the hotel had great service and was clean and comfortable.
Worst visit
We have visited WDW & it's hotels 3 times over the past 2 years--Wilderness Lodge (nice) All-Star Movies (Great), and now this hotel (Dec.). We have learned a lot with our many visits. We have noticed they do have groups of teens in for different activities so we did specifically request to not be with any groups of teens when we made our reservations thru WDW travel. Upon arrival we waited what seemed like forever before our luggage arrived at our room. Longer than either of the other hotels by far. "For security reasons" they do not take your luggage to your room without you being present. They used to drop your stuff off while you run to the parks, but anything to be safer, right? The foodcourt didn't have a very wide selection, we felt it was better at All-Stars. The rooms in Alligator Bayou are SO dark I asked the bellman if they had the correct wattage bulbs. I'm talking 40 watt, really! You couldn't possibly read anything.. After running around the parks we attempted to use ANY of hotel's many pools only to be chased off by teams of crazed teenagers. That night they ran by our room at all hours screaming to each other. Luckily they hada nice noisy fan to cut the outside noise downa little. The next day we tried to use the pools in the morning and again around dinner time only to again be chased away by these unsupervised kids. The monsters were there for Pop Warner football & a cheerleading competition. They were rude, brutish, and totally insane, standing 3 high in the pool making pyramids, sliding headfirst down the slides, cannonballs, running thru the baby pool tackling each other (where my 5 & 7 year olds were forced to play since no other spot was avalable), with the staff lifeguards screaming at them. I went to the front desk to request a change of hotels only to be told there were no openings anywhere, but she'll make a call (first call got us in a different hotel) then told us we'd have to find our own transportation to the other hotel--yeah, right. She said the bellman would be over to our room to pick up our luggage right away so we rushed back to the room only to wait an hour and a half before they got there. The staff member who took us to the other hotel was VERY nice, by far the nicest at the hotel. the rest of our stay was at Coronado Springs which was fabulous. And they did refund us for the one night we spent at Port Orleans.
Are Standards Slipping at Disney Hotels?
Having previously stayed at the Dixie Landings Resort, I was extremely disappointed by the standard of service at the renamed - Riverside Resort. The cast member at check in gave us incorrect details of the room we were supposed to check in to, the porter service told us we would have to wait an hour before they could take us and our luggage to our room - we had been travelling for 18 hours. The room was not as clean as it could have been, smeary pictures, and mirrors not cleaned once during our 9 night stay. When leaving the porters did not arrive as requested to collect our baggage. We had to carry our bags over to the main building ourselves! The magic of Disney has somehow disappeared.
Enjoyed Port Orleans Riverside
My family of four spent four days at Disney, staying at Port Orleans Riverside. I highly recommend the place and look forward to coming back. They have beautiful facilities and the rooms were fine; don't expect large spaces though. We stayed in Magnolia Bend and felt we were close to everything, especially the East bus stop. Not much of a wait for food; we only used it for breakfast and for snacks at the end of the day, opting for the theme parks for lunches and dinners. Also, it was too cold to swim or even take the boat to downtown disney, though it was clear this would have been a great option. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We were even there during a Pop Warner football event over the weekend and were bracing for lots of noise and commotion, but it was peaceful. One negative: we purchased a toy at the Magic Kingdom and did the "free delivery to your resort" option.... unfortunately, they don't take it to your room, but call you and alert you to the fact it's in. Of course, we get back to the room, THEN get the message and have to go back. So remember to check in at the desk when you return from your day at the parks to get your gift before you head to the room.
Fabulous Honeymoon Experience!
My wife and I stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside for our honeymoon in April 2001. This was a package deal that included 4 nights in the park and 3 on a cruise. Everything was absolutely perfect. We receieved a room upgrade at the hotel when they learned that it was our honeymoon. We stayed in a 2nd floor corner room that overlooked the river that runs through the resort. The room was decorated in an old New Orleans style; bright, almost Caribbean colors, 2 sinks (outside of the bathroom), 2 beds, table and chairs, tv - all of the standards. We found the room to be exceptionally clean and well stocked. We were never in want for anything. The staff at the desk and in the restaurants were friendly and helpful (as basically all Disney people are). We mostly ate in the buffet style food court that was part of the resort. It had a nice breakfast, lunch and dinner selection including personal pizzas, fresh fruit, sandwiches, desserts, mexican food. Really anything you could want and fairly priced. A nice idea were the large travel mugs that you could buy and refill as many times as you wanted during your stay at the resort. Something else we were really happy with was how quiet the Riverside area of the resort was. Coming back from the park at night, we would cross a wooden bridge over to the hotel buildings (they look like old plantation houses). It was really serene and low-key. I would definitely stay here again!
