"Amazing..!"

We have just returned from a 2 weeks stay at the Ambasciatori and got married in our second week at the Cloisters in the centre of Sorrento. What can I say as Sorrento and the locations nearby are just so lovely anyway, we had such a fabulous time, the hotel is just gorgeous and has a lovely feel about it. We came to Sorrento the year before to check out the hotels for where we wanted to stay for our wedding and as soon as I walked into the Amasciatori I knew it was the one. Right on the cliff top with breathtaking views of the Bay of Naples, it is just so peaceful and relaxing. The gardens are lovely with chairs and tables dotted around everywhere so you can always find a little spot to sit with your other half and a bottle of wine to watch the beautiful view of the sun setting in the evenings. Although there is a pool, during the day we preferred to go down the lift to the bathing platform and sunbath down there where we also cooled off in the sea. There is also a little cafe / bar to get drinks - the chap the runs it, is so friendly and can't do enough for you. The food was excellent, my other half likes his food and keeps on raving about it even now that we are back at home. Although we went out some days the lunch menu is also really good. Many of the other guests were regulars to the hotel, mainly English and they were all so friendly, we spoke with many of them. You end up relaxing at the hotel that you may not even feel the desire to leave it, so many nooks and crannys! We liased directly with the hotel manager for our wedding reception and found him very helpful and pleasant. Our guests at our wedding all thought the hotel was lovely and loved enjoyed our wedding day. They all have said how gorgeous the food was and how courteous and attentive the staff were. I gave them some table decorations / favours that I had brought over and they did a great job with laying them out the tables looked fantastic, the hotel provided beautiful fresh table flowers. Our wedding cake was amazing, Italian style with almonds and lemons, it tasted gorgeous! Our guests were so impressed! The hotel also arranged our taxi to and from the Cloisters and also a piano man for the evening do when we all went to the bottom of the garden and watched the sun set and danced. It was such a lovely day, we even spotted 2 dolphins in the sea below us which made it even more special. The football ground over the road also let off fireworks in the evening which felt like they were for us as they were so close, which was a perfect ending to a magical day! We definently will go back, maybe for our 5 year anniversary..!
Perfect choice for Sorrento experience!

Just returned from the most idealic trip to Sorrento. Stayed a week at this hotel, booked easily over the internet a double de-lux room with sea view (Room 302) for 290 euro per night. The room was spacious with a seating area at one end, mini bar, good sized bathroom and very good air conditioning. We had a balcony that opened out on the side of the room, although small looked out over the bay of Naples and was large enough to sit on. Also a 'port-hole' window that opened right out to let in sea air. The room was extremely quiet and never once heard any other guests even though the hotel was full. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice with an 'eggs chef' preparing fresh omlettes to order. A choice of sitting outside on the terrace or inside overlooking the magnificent sea view. The hotel is placed high on the cliff with only a pleasant 10 minute stroll into town either along the cliff or through the shopping centre. There is a medium sized pool and lovely gardens. The only down side is that the hotel charge 5 euro per day to hire a sun bed by pool, but on the up side there was always a bed available whatever time of day you fancied one. The hotel had live music several times a week on the terrace which was there if you wanted it but didn't disturb you if your were in your room. We didn't eat in hotel in evening as prefered to tlry different restaurants in town, to be honest the food in Sorrento is pretty poor, most restaurants serving cheap tourist fare, i.e. pizza, pasta and chips, but we did find an excellent restaurant newly opened called 'Photo' in the town which I would recommend to everyone who enjoys good food. Anyone wanting to visit Pompeii suggest you do it yourself, tours and very expensive and taxi drivers will try and gain your trust to make you use them again. One taxi driver offered to take the two of us to Pompeii for 150 Euro and bring us back. We actually took the train for 3.70 euro each which is a very pleasant 30 mins ride from centre of Sorrento and takes you right to the entrance of the ruins whereby it costs 10 euro each to enter. All in all it was a very good holiday.
Excellent all round Hotel

Just back from 7 night stay. Chose the Ambasciatori over other hotels mainly from reviews and review photos and we were not disappointed, in fact it surpassed our expectations. Like other reviewers we are delighted we chose a room with a sea view as the views and particularly with the sun setting (we were on 3rd floor) are magnificant and the balcony was spacious. Well worth the extra expense. Our room was really nice, well decorated, very clean and spacious with good sized bathroom. Towels changed every day and bed linen 3 times in the week. Hotel supplies towels for using at pool and decking areas. The decking area is great for sunbathing and has a small snack bar run by the excellent Salvatori. The staff are all very professional, effecient and friendly. The grounds are beautiful and extensive. The food was all round very good with plenty of choice at breakfast (champagne availabe at breakfast). We never had any trouble getting a table at various times. Some people like to get tables by the window which has great views but these are limited and you may have to wait. There is an outside area of the restaurant which is really nice. We found the hotel position great as it was a pleasant 10/15 min. walk from the centre therefore a bit quieter. All in all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back.
Nice Hotel

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel we only had a rear view room with a view of a wall with the restuarant above unfortunately we could hear the music whenever it was on which did not lead to early nights and late lie ins. I would suggest to anyone that you pay the extra fora seaview room. The grounds of the hotel are lovely as is the decor inside the hotel . The staff are pleasent especially down at the decking! and the Breakfast is very good . We though the evening meal over priced for what it was though. It is about 15min walk to the centre which normally is fine but with a twisted ankle I was dissappointed to find that the bus to town was always full and didnt even stop for us and taxi's were 8 euros for less than a mile!!!!! (not the hotels fault ) The views are excellent from the hotel it is in a beautiful spot.

Our profile-Active 40/41 married New Yorkers, avid travellers! We loved this place! We chose it based on the reviews and it exceeded our expectations. We had a full sea view room - the only caveat is do not stay on the 4th floor-it is right under the dining room and you hear everyone stomping around from early in the am through the other meals! We asked for a room change and the excellent Manager, Massimo, gave us a lovely room one floor down. The rooms are average in terms of a 4 star - i.e. rather dated bathrooms for the price BUT the views are mesmorizing so we were fine. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous-they are quite extensive so take a little tour- it's like having a private park. The pool area is very charming and is next to the outdoor restaurant where you can have lunch or a cocktail. A very extensive breakafst is included and served over the water in a large dining room. We did not eat at the hotel but it seemed to be served on the early side. If you are looking for a slick, modern hotel, go elsewhere-there is a great "classic" hotel vibe in this place - they staff is very professional and engaging. As I mentioned it looks a bit worn but this is part of the character. It's about a 15 minute walk from the very busy center-a bus actually stops right in front of the hotel if you chose not to walk. We would stay here again.
Disappointing.

We stayed at this hotel because of the recommendations here but were unfortunately disappointed. Our sea view room was fairly dowdy and could have done with refurbishment. Unless you moved furniture the only mains socket was in the bathroom. Food was good but portions on the small side. Dining room was busy at peak times, there was not enough capacity and a 20min wait was sometimes required. If you are vegetarian, as one of our party was, you will find you will soon be fed up with mozzerella. Friendly waiters though. Location fairly good 15 min walk into Sorrento centre.
Excellent Hotel, Well managed, Great staff - friendly & helpful

Just got back from a 7 night stay here. All of the staff without exception were friendly & helpful. Our room was excellent (we had a partial sea view). Hotel has a large garden, pool, Lido area with easy access to swim in the sea & terraces with fantastic views of the Bay of Naples & Vesuvius. About a 10-15 minute walk from the main square in Sorrento - lots of good restaurants. We will go back again. HIghly recommended.
Really good hotel with great staff!

Enjoyed a 5 night break at this hotel. Had a beautiful sea facing room with large balcony. If your budget can stretch to it, id recommend going for the sea view as it really is spectacular and the stay would not have been the same with a view of the busy road outside!. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The breakfasts were fine although some fresh fruit would have been nice. All of the staff were excellent. Would recommend this hotel without reservation.
Fantastic!!

We spent a week here in Sorrento. Very nice hotel, we would definitely return if staying in Sorrento again. Good breakfasts, friendly staff (especially the lady on reception), clean rooms and lovely gardens. The sea bathing area wasn't open in April but we found the public beach in the Little Harbour (private ones there too) so were happy. The pool wasn't heated, but hey! we're British! we swim anywhere! Capri was pretty, but crowded. If you do go, don't bother queueing to get the funicular, walk up the charming little stepped path instead. We were too tight to splash out on a sea view, so we found ourselves with a 'view' onto a deep light well at the back. Not even the road! However, the room was large, comfortable, and very well furnished; sea views were available freely in the restaurant at breakfast, and from everywhere in the lovely gardens. and we spent happy times watching the sun go down from the terraces. The views of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples are spectacular. You don't want a car. Entry to the town is restricted and the traffic is often stationary. It's about 10/15 minutes level walking to the main part of town, just about right to avoid noise and the throngs, but close enought to walk. There's a good trendy bar/restaurant on the way with a nice garden - photographic theme, can't remember the name! The Cirmcumvesuviano is perfect for getting to Pompeii & Herculaneum, regular, and not expensive. It's about 10/15 mins walk to the station from the hotel.

We stayed here in mid October 2010. The front desk were very good-helpful and pleasant as were the barmen. The cleaner was very nice and the room immaculate. We didn't have a room with a view as we spend a lot of time out hiking so don't bother about the room. However,... more
