Villa Fiorita Hotel Reviews

Nice family run hotel which is about 6km outside of Sorrento, up steep hill. We paid extra for a sea view, which was certainly worth it - one of the best things about the hotel is the amazing views over Sorrento and the coast line. If you don't have a car then to get around... more

Great view from the top of the hill!
We stayed for a week at the Villa Fiorita in October 2006 during UK half term. The hotel was maybe only 25% occupied and closing the next week hence it was a little quiet. The double room (complete with bunk bed) was always clean, tidy and fresh. The view over Sorrento, Bay of Naples and Vesuvius was great both during the day and night. The staff were very helpful and accomodating and seemed very knowledgable about the local attractions. Someone also stayed up until 3am to let us in after being trapped by floods on the way from Naples. The food was simple, reasonably priced and good. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. We had a hire car so the previous comments regarding the local buses did not apply. The hotel has no parking (other than the side of the road) although the arrangement is that you leave you keys in the evening and the staff take your car to their nearby 'off road' car park and then bring it back in the morning. The hotel is almost at the top of the hill overlooking Sorrento and the drive up is entertaining to say the least. If you're going to hire a car in the Sorrento area, make sure it's a small one!
Fabulous View
When we arrived at Villa Fiorita we were given a small room with no view, but when we queried this we were quickly offered a much larger, more comfortable room with a lovely balcony and an amazing view over Sorrento and the Bay of Naples- and it only cost 10 euros per night more. The hotel is family run and the staff are very helpful. Giovanni speaks excellent English. There is a lovely pool area and a rooftop sunbathing terrace, both with the same stunning views. Buses run regularly and although are often very crowded they are preferential to the extortianately priced taxis. We were very glad we chose to stay outside Sorrento, rather than right in it. We hired a small car for one day which was very reasonably priced- Giovanni arranged this for us. The food was excellent- much better than we had in Sorrento and some of the best we had during our trip to Italy- so we spent many evenings in the hotel. We would definitely recommend Villa Fiorita.
Wonderful, Relaxing Hotel
This hotel is a charming, comfortable place with a great view of the bay. It is perfect for those wishing to relax. Our room had a great balcony as well. While we did not swim, I heard some guests comment that the pool was cool. The rooms were comfortable, quiet and clean. The food at the hotel was good and the continental breakfast was the best we had on our trip. The buses that go to the hotel run infrequently especially after 7:00 pm, making timing your activities very important. While staying closer into town would not be nearly as nice, for those wanting to see the sights more than relax, this might be a better option.
Fabulous view and out of the fray of Sorrento
This small hotel has an incredible view of the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius, and Sorrento. We were lucky enough to have a small balcony to truly cherish the setting. I would request that if I return. The room was clean and the bathroom fine. Nothing to write home about but for the price it was right. The breakfast was copious and again, fabulous panorama of the coast. We found the employees very friendly with some limits on their English but their English was light years ahead of our Italian. We also had no issue with the buses. The ride into town was picturesque and after driving our rental car through Sorrento we were happy not to have to do it any more. The buses came on time and were very reasonable. I was disappointed with the city of Sorrento itself since it was such a mob scene and this oasis on this hill made the area more enchanting with its views and quiet setting. I would return and recommend a balcony room on the right side of the building..top floor.
A Lovely base for our time in Sorrento
We stayed here for five nights following 2 nights in Rome. The hotel was clean and views from the terrace were stunning (across the Bay of Naples, towards Versuvius). We were disappointed that our room did not have a balcony, we suggest that you specify this when booking if you want it, terrace was lovely and deserted when we were there. The breakfast was excellent, the dining room lacked atmosphere in the evening but the food was good (typically Italian). Local buses to Sorrento cost one Euro each way. Downside of this was last bus left Sorrento at 10pm most evenings, except Sunday when it left at 9.30pm! The taxi fare from Sorrento to the hotel was 31 Euros - but bear in mind that you could pay this amount extra per night staying in the centre of town. Pool cleaned every day shared with hotel next door. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Fiorita is so-so
My husband, his brother, our sister in law and I stayed at the Villa Fiorita in early October 2005. I booked the hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews that the hotel was great, had good views, and though far from town the amenities were worth it. Let me first say that the weather in October was superb, but not so warm that we could enjoy the pool. So if you plan to go in the off-season, then the pool isn't a draw for this hotel. The hotel does have good views, if you have a room that faces down toward Sorrento. 90 Euros is a good price for this place, seeing that it is so far from town. I thought that it would be a good way to save money, but I could not have been more wrong. The one bus to take to town only comes about every 30-60 minutes, and if it is full it doesn't stop. We had to call taxis two times and each one way trip is 30 Euros. So the way I figure it, we could have spent 30 Euros more per night at a nicer hotel in town instead of hiking to and from Fiorita. The rooms were tidy and spartan, but there was a dirty smell coming from the shower (or shower curtain?) that was a turn off. The bathroom was extremely small. The view from the tiny window was nice. We did not find the staff to be overly helpful. It was a struggle to get them to grin. They did not go out of their way to help us in any way, but on the other hand they didn't do anything terrible. Breakfast was actually pretty diverse and good - they had jams, cereal, muffins, and yogurts. More selection than any other places we stayed on our trip. The coffee was also pretty tasty. This hotel is definitely for the budget traveler as there wasn't anything that exceeded my expectations or that prompts me to write a rave review. I'd say that the price is the main attraction for this hotel. I think that if we had to do it again we would have spent the extra cash to stay downtown instead of in the hills above Sorrento at the Villa Fiorita.
villa fiorita
although the hotel has a stunning setting, overlooking the bay of Sorrento, the rooms were very basic and very small. The hotel staff were not that helpful and one night we couldn't even eat there because they were too busy!!!! The buses are a joke, either turning up full when they reach there, or non existent, there were plenty of complaints from other guests. Would not go back to this hotel again, too far out of main town of Sorrento. The trip on the bus from hotel to Sorrento takes about 20 mins (when you can get on).
Stunning views . . .
We spent a week at the Villa Fiorita and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is simple and basic but extremely clean. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and were always willing to provide bus/train timetables and general advice. The food at the hotel was adequate but a little uninspiring but there are plenty of options on offer in Sorrento itself. Older visitors may struggle with the stairs at the hotel (as there is no lift} but we viewed them as exercise !! Transport links from Sorrento to the hotel are excellent (there is a bus stop a short walk away) The bus costs 1 Euro per journey. The main attraction was the view from the hotel which is absolutely stunning. The hotel overlooks the Bay of Naples and Sorrento and the views cannot be bettered. If you want a relaxing and excellent value for money stay the Villa Fiorita is for you.
Amazing time!
We just returned from our honeymoon traveling all throughout Italy, and I must say, Fiorita was my favorite place. Although not down in the middle of town, the hotel offered so much more ( for the price especially!). First of all we took the local bus to the hotel and it actually has its own bus stop right in front of the hotel and a stop en route to the Amalfi Coast bus ride (a must do). The staff was incredible, helping with anything we needed, and they even had a little folder in the room listing bus schedules, breakfast times, scooter rental and car rental prices, etc. etc. They were so organized! The breakfast service was great, and the view, the view the view! Beautiful - we left our patio doors open and awoke to a stunning view of the Bay and the city of Sorrento. I loved this stay and would reccommend to anyone!
What a view!
Exceptional value for money. Would highly recommend. We had a swim in the pool, drinks on the terrace and dinner in their restaurant - all lovely. We stayed in Sorrento for 3 nights and a night at the Hotel Villa Fiorita - which was great to have the change.
