Kaningos 21 Hotel

I have stayed in many hotels throughout Greece, and quite a few times in the capital as well. Kaningos 21 is by far the best hotel that I know in this price range. Actually I stayed in the hotel twice, at the beginning and end of a two weeks trip through Southern Greece in Dec 05 - Jan 06, so I've been in two different rooms. Summary: We enjoyed our stay at Kaningos 21. Our room was cheap, clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location for exploring modern and ancient Athens. When and why we stayed: My wife and I stayed at Kaningos 21 for two nights in December 2005. We were on a weekend break to Athens to escape the damp depressing British winter. I stayed at the Kaningos 21 Hotel for 3 nights in July of 2005. I really enjoyed the hotel. The elevator was small and only fit 3 people max (without luggage), but it was fine. The restaurant staff was really friendly always greeting us with a smile when we walked in for breakfast. The breakfast was really good with a lot of selection. We stayed in Kaningos 21 for 2 nights upon arriving in Greece before our island hopping and another 2 nights before leaving for home. The hotel seems to have been renovated so the rooms were comfortable and clean. Location is good and everything was within walking distance - shopping, the Acropolis, museums. Our first two nights there we were on the 8th floor and didn't notice much street noise at night but on our other 2 nights we were on the 2nd floor and the street noise was quite loud. We recently enjoyed a trip to Greece and stayed at the Kaningos 21 Hotel in Athens. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the staff friendly. Although they did book my boyfriend and I into seperate rooms with people we didn't know, that was rectified easily. The downfall to the whole experience was the handling of luggage and the elevator service. Our bags were piled like garbage in the hotel lobby for sometimes hours as we were checking in and out. As the lobby was small to start with, this caused an overcrowding problem... more
