BRING SOAP
from A TripAdvisor Member
Bellagio is not the hotel it once was. My most recent visit was in July 2003. I arrived at the front desk to find that my reservation had been canceled by the hotel. The front desk quickly pointed out that this was not their fault, it was casino marketing's fault. While waiting for the reservation issue to be solved, I asked for a line pass for Cafe Bellagio, big mistake. I was told that lines passes were only for guests in suites. I could have a line pass, the manager told me but she was going to note this so that i would not ask for another! After 30 minutes at the front desk I was assured that my room with Queen beds was ready. Well, a room with a king bed was what I found. I called the front desk only to be told...not our problem..someone else made the mistake and they could not fix it, huh? Be sure to bring your own soap! Yes, I'm serious. Unless you are in a suite, you will ONLY be given small handsoaps..bath bars are only for suites. I'm NOT kidding. This pool area is now missing 2 pools due to construction of a new tower..hmm..more guests, yet fewer chairs at the pool.
Pros and Cons to Bellagio

My husband and I just returned from a 7 night stay at the Bellagio ( July 2003). Overall we had a wonderful stay here. Although there were some problems: We had requested a King bed in our room 2 months prior to arriving. But at check in they only had 2 queen beds available and told us that requests were only on availability. They promised a king bed the next day...and we did get one the next afternoon, although it was a hassel to pack up and move after the first night. Also that morning while showering, repair men were in the next room hammering and drilling loudly, and caused my shower to shut off 2 times while I was in there. We ended up in a nice room, great view, although our shower leaked the entire time we were there, so every shower caused the entire bathroom floor to be sopping wet. We had to use towels every time to plug up the leaky area. The staff was very curteous, and went out of their way to be helpful. The food was excellent, although very overpriced, and we found it hard to afford ANYTHING in our hotel because of that...,$3 for soda at the vending machines, and $8 for bottled water. The food at the buffet was great, but it was more like eating in a loud, overcrowded high school cafateria, than a 5 star hotel. We ended up eating at Bally's buffet.....much nicer, quieter atmosphere, food just as good, and less expensive. The pools were nice, but again, we had expected more opulent pools for such a large upscale hotel. All that said, the overall atmosphere, food, and staff were wonderful. I found it a quet, relaxing hotel. I have health problems and spend more time that the average person in my hotel room, so it was nice to come up to a quiet room with a great view to rest. The beds were extremely comfortable, and room service was very thourough and timely. It's a beautiful place to stay, but I also believe there are other hotels on the strip that offer just as much for less money.
Great evening dinner, show and free attractions

While in Vegas we spent the evening (July 23) at the Bellagio. We started with dinner at the buffet. We always have to try a buffet while in vegas. This time we decided to give the Bellagio a go. Charge came to $53.52 for two people. This buffet was more expensive then some, but both husband and I felt it was worth it. The food was extremely fresh and the presentation was nice. We had crab legs, shrimp, 3 types of fish, chicken wellington, beef, many fresh pasta salads, fruit salads, carving section, sushi, etc. I am a big salad eater and the vegtable selection could have been more expansive, but what was there was very fresh and good. There were no fat free or low cal dressings which is a big no-no to me. The deserts were a little disappointing. There were many choices and they were beautiful and tempting, whoever they lacked flavor. Overall it was enjoyable and we got our money's worth. After dinner we took in the free entertainment. We walked through the indoor garden. It was truly wonderful. There were so many colorful blooms, topiaries and butterflies. Then we went outside to watch the fountain show. It was spectacular, with the fountains, music and lights. Lastly we went back inside and gazed at the glass work. I love hand blown glass and I have to say my mouth literaly gapped open. The ceiling is covered in breathtaking hand-blown glass flowers. The work is done by Dale Chihuly and if you have ever seen pictures of his work they do the real thing little justice. We then walked through the Chihuly store and I found a pair of $400 martini glasses that were to die for. Needless to say they are still there for someone else to purchase. To finish off the evening we went and saw "O". This was the 3rd Cirque show we have seen and this is the BEST! We had seats in the balcony to save some $. We were a little worried that we would have a problem seeing everything. We were in the first row of the balcony and I think these seats were preferable to ones on the floor that were more expensive. We could see everything on the stage and also could see down into the pool. We had binoculars with us and used them a few times to get a close up look at costumes and faces, but overall we had very nice seats and enjoyed the show immensly. Even my husband who is not a Cirque fan found this show enjoyable.
Our Favorite Hotel

My husband and I have had four glorious trips to the Bellagio. If you want to be treated special, come to the Bellagio. From the wonderful room, bright and roomy casino to our wonderful casino hostess, Michele Rebar, nothing can top this hotel in Las Vegas. We have stayed at several of the large casinos over the years and will never stay anywhere else except the Bellagio. I can honestly say, we are strangers to them, but they treat us like friends visiting. Not many hotels can say that. Our vote is BELLAGIO.
Barf-O-Rama. This place REALLY sucks!!!

Let me just start off by saying I would gladly stay for a week at the Aladdin than another night at the Bell-Crappio. I should have turned around immediately when I was treated really badly by the front desk and all staff. My second warning should have been that the place is TEEMING with white trash. I guess words out tha' this sho is a faaancy place with lotsa lights. My room at first glance looked ok, until I began noticing wierd smells. Isn't this hotel supposed to have a good reputation?, I asked my husband, so we dove in and tried it. Boy were we wrong. Call me crazy, but barf stains in the closet?!? It looked like someone had spot cleaned it, but didn't do anything to get rid of the stench. My husband and I are very religious and the fact that the TV would not change from the porn channel made us very uncomfortable. We had to complain at least twice, within an eight hour span, for them to remedy this situation. After seeing a good show and gambling a bit we were ready to go to sleep...and thus began our night of terror. We came back to find someone had taken a dump, yes a poo, in our toilet and didn't flush!!! We were the only ones staying there and hadn't even used the facilities! I had to complain. It was so gross. They moved us after making us wait for like 2 hours (it was 11pm) by now. We were not treated like hotel guests at any point during out stay, at the prices they were charging you would think they would give their staff a lesson in customer service. Our biggest mistake was moving rooms. I should have just flushed the toilet. There was this really odd Mexican/Hindu guy at the end of the hall, who did not appear to be an employee, yet he was there all the time. I think he had something to do with the constant traffic of "young ladies" going in to that room. Our room: The shower drain was almost clogged with pubes. We were so tired we decided just to go to bed. We felt something squishy around our toes, I pulled back the covers to find a USED condom snugly tucked in bed with us.Gross!!!!The sound of some woman next door humping all night wasn't too cool either. When we complained about the service, the staff kind of shrugged. We immediately checked out the next morning, we were supposed to stay for another 4 nights, but decided to take our business to the MGM Grand where we were treated just great. NEVER AGAIN. Can't wait to see how the Bellagio decrepitates over time.
General Tips on Vegas & Review of The Bellagio
from A TripAdvisor Member
If you are in Vegas you will be doing A LOT of walking, so you really need to wear some very comfortable walking shoes (even if you rent a car). You have to walk past almost every slot machine in the casino to get to an attraction, buffet, or club. The parking decks are large (they are FREE, though) and you will have to walk from them into the casino and then through the casino to your room or attraction. If you do not rent a car, then you will really be doing a lot of walking. You can always get a cab, though, because there are plenty around. It is very hot in the summer and can get around 115 to 120 degrees, esp. July - which is when we went. After all, Las Vegas is in the desert. When you leave an a/c building it feels as if you are walking into an oven, so be prepared. The first 2 to 3 weeks of July is one of the least crowded times of year, though. If you do not like heat or cannot tolerate it, then I highly recommend you travel at another time of year. If you go there in the summer, then buy some water to carry with you. Try and buy it at a gas station or drugstore and not at the expensive hotel prices at like $3/bottle.Take along a lot of casual clothes. If you plan to go to an upscale restaurant or a club, then that is about the only time you need to dress up. Of the shows I went to, a lot of people were dressed casual. Dress up if this is your first trip to Vegas, because photographers will come around and ask if you want a picture taken that you can buy at the end of the show.Make reservations for shows in advance of your trip, esp. Cirque de Soleil or popular comedians/personalities. Also, before you play any casino games, be sure to sign up for the Player's Club at each casino so that you can get money back or comps for you play. It is like an ATM card you insert into the machine and gives you points for what you spend.I highly recommend The Bellagio Hotel, though it is quite pricey. We had a room with a view of the fountains, which was spectacular. The fountain show is choreographed with lights and to different songs, which you can listen to on a certain TV channel from your room while watching the show. The Bellagio buffet is also excellent with a great variety to choose from, though one of the more expensive in town but well worth it. To give you an idea, it is $25/person for dinner. If you enjoy shopping, I highly recommend visiting Cesars Palace, the Venetian, and Aladdin. They have mall-like shopping with great stores (must be hundreds), not souvenier stores. The best attractions, in my opinion, are The Stratosphere at night, Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, if you like Star Trek go to the Hilton and go on the ride there, and the New York, New York has the ultimate roller coaster. One place to avoid (unless you like a 24/7 Chucky Cheese atmosphere) is Circus Circus. Las Vegas is a huge playground for adults and a great time. So, enjoy your trip and good luck!
Worth every penny!

My husband and I enjoyed every second. It's such a beautiful place that we are going again this year. We won't stay anywhere else.
Very nice hotel
from tzelma
Hotel, room, and spa were wonderful! We got a deluxe room with 2 queen beds (3 adults in room). Our room was clean, spacious and very, very comfortable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The bathrooom was well appointed and had a separate large shower and tub. The staff was very professional. Check-in was so fast, about 5 minutes (we arrived on a Tuesday around 3:00pm). My sister and I enjoyed the spa. We both had a hydrotherapy treatment. The nice thing is the day we had our treatments scheduled we were able to enjoy the spa the entire day! They have beverages and fruit for you to enjoy. The spa has a eucalyptus steam room that was so wonderful. They also have a redwood sauna, 3 hot tubs and a cold plunge pool. The hydrotherapy was incredible! We both got the seaweed bath. My skin felt like new. We got this on our last day there and the jets just soothed my muscles after all of that walking!! If you get to go to the spa ask for Carol, she was the person who drew our bath and took care of us during our treatment. She was very friendly and a joy to be around. We tried the Bellagio breakfast buffet, it was good. Not phenomenal...but good. I would highly recommend this hotel. All of the employees were very professional and friendly. We didn't gamble so I can't comment on the casino employees. We got tickets to see 'O'. It was awesome; I would certainly recommend this incredible show. I promise it will be like nothing you've ever seen before. We stayed at the Flamingo last year and it was nice. However, if you want to treat yourself to a very nice stay that is comforting and inviting I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Not Worth it
from studyaid
My wife and I recently satyed at The Bellagio. Although it is a nice hotel, it is not worth the extra money paid. I have stayed at multiple hotels on the Las Vegas strip, and as far as the room, and the bed, The Bellagio is about the same as staying at New York, New York, the Luxor, or Treasure Island. If you feel like you need to stay there once, then, feel free to spend the extra money, but, above that, then you are just wasting your money, and feel like you need to use it as a status symbol. I heard that the staff really caters to the guest, I found this to be untrue. The staff was no more friendly then those at other hotels we visited while on the trip. That's not to say they weren't nice, because they were, it's just there was nothing above and beyond which is what one might expect for staying at the only 5 star hotel on the strip. The turndown service was nice, except it wasn't consistent. The first night we were there, they came at 5:30, the next night we were out of the room, the following night, they didn't come at all, and on our last night, they were knocking on the door at 11:15 when we were already asleep. The food at the Bellagio is good, just expensive like everything else in the hotel, when one pays $15 for two cups of coffee and 2 muffins, it makes it seem a bit overpriced. The buffett is really good, but, a person can visit the buffet without staying at the hotel. As for gambling, it is more fun to gamble at other hotels because in a way, it seems more quiet and stuffy at The Bellagio then other hotels on the strip. Overall, I would say, if you feel like you need to stay at the Bellagio just to say you've stayed there, then, have fun, otherwise, stay at another hotel, spend less money and walk through the Bellagio just to see what it's like.
Bellagio - Attitude problems
from A TripAdvisor Member
As a 2nd Wedding Anniversary gift to ourselves, my wife and I decided to stay at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas for 6 nights. First, I called the Bellagio and reserved a room for 6 nights. I had the customer service rep repeat the reservation back to me, confirming that we would check in June 14th and check out June 20th. He also confirmed that we would have a view of the pool area, then gave me a confirmation number. I always wait 2 days then call a hotel back to re-confirm a reservation just in case something was miscommunicated. Although I was dealing with the Bellagio this time around and thought that a follow up call was probably not needed, I decided to call anyway since we purchased non refundable airline tickets after we booked our room. Sure enough I noticed the reservation was incorrect when the customer service rep told me that we were confirmed for 5 nights, checking in June 15th and checking out June 20th. After I pointed out that the original reservation was for 6 nights, the rep said to me "no sir, that is not what you asked for". Mind you, there is no way he could know what I asked for because he was not the agent we spoke to when we made the reservation. I then asked to speak to the gentleman who made the original reservation for me. Another rep got on the line(not the agent I asked for) and said "sir, I am looking at my screen and it says you reserved 5 nights, not 6. If you wish to add another night to your reservation I will check our availability, however you only asked for 5 nights when you made the reservation". So, already I had been told by 2 Bellagio "customer service" reps that the reservation error was my mistake, not theirs. I then asked to speak to a Manager. I told the Manager that I was suprised a hotel like the Bellagio would allow their customer service reps to tell guests that they were wrong, about anything, considering we would be paying $425 a night to stay there. I also mentioned that the reps were apathetic to our situation, despite the fact that we had non-refundable airline tickets and needed to check in on the 14th. The Customer Service Manager agreed and apologized, then added the additional night to our reservation. As a special courtesy she went so far as to upgrade our room from a pool view to a 4th floor Lakeview so that we could "enjoy the incredible Bellagio Fountains from our room each day", and she said she would personally pre-assign the room herself the night before we arrived so that the room would be ready the morning of the 14th should we arrive early and wish to check in. She then faxed all of this in writing. I commented to my wife how impressed I was with the way the Manager dealt with the situation and thought that was the end of it. Unfortunately that was just the beginning. We arrived at the Bellagio the morning of the 14th and were told by the frond desk clerk that they had no knowledge of anything the Customer Service Manager had promised. Despite the fact that I presented the clerk with the faxed confirmation, she continued to claim that our reservation never stipulated anything other than a request for a king size bed. The Front Desk Manager then came over with a look on his face like he owned the hotel and appeared to be irritated by our very presence. He began trying to find out who to blame for the confusion, including us, then started looking at his computer for available rooms. Finally he said "I found you a room facing the lake, is there anything else do you need me to do for you". We answered his question about 10 minutes later when we got to our room, which was located on the 4th floor, and opened our curtains to a beautiful view of a roof and a wall. Apparently Bellagio employees don't like to mention little details like this unless you ask, but there is no such thing as a lakeview below the 8th floor. There are buildings which house shops, restaurants, etc. and they circle the entire Bellagio Lake. Because these structures are about 5 stories high and are set forward from the hotel, what you usually get to look at from any room below the 8th floor is a roof and/or a wall. Not only could we not see the lake, we couldn't see Las Vegas Blvd. which is amazing considering Paris' Eiffel Tower is located across the street from the Bellagio. So we went back to the Front Desk to let them know that we were not thrilled about paying $425 to look at Bellagio's incredible concrete. The Manager responded by saying, "well yes sir, the rooms do have obstructed views until you get above the 10th floor", did you wish to change rooms?". I said yes, especially considering this was supposed to be an upgrade from our original room! So, we ended up on the 16th floor with a really great view. Later that morning I called the Customer Service Manager and she was shocked to hear that the front desk had not been made aware of her requests for our pre-assigned room, etc. I also informed her not to do anyone else a favor by upgrading their room to a lakeview below the 10th floor. She then made another terrific gesture by reducing our first nights rate by $261 dollars since we had been inconvenienced once again. Later I received a call from another Manager at the front desk who was calling to let me know that she was going to reduce the rate herself, however she sounded irritated with me right off the bat, probably because I had now been marked as difficult. Unfortunately the next day I found that she had charged my card an additional $261 dollars rather than credit it. 2 days later they were able to correct her little blunder and we were able to relax a few days until we woke up early one morning to the sound of sawing and pounding. The sawing was so incredibly loud that we thought someone was going to come through the ceiling any second. I got up and called the front desk to find out if the Bellagio staff was working on something that early in the morning, or if lumberjacks were staying in the room above us. The clerk told me that most likely repair men were in the room above us "fixing a cracked bathtub, or something important like that". I asked her if she could possibly do something about the noise, and she said "why, did you want to sleep!" I said that although we certainly did not want to inconvenience the hotel by sleeping while they wanted to work, we would appreciate the opportunity to sleep at some point. The clerk then said she would look into the matter, and eventually the sawing and pounding stopped. Overall the stay was enjoyable, but we did not personally think it was in the league of other 4 or 5 star hotels or resorts we've been to. The food was mediocre, at least considering what you have to pay for it. For example, how good would you expect an $18 dollar bowl of split pea soup to taste. Better than something out of a can? The hotels staff looked depressed for the most part, although there were a few happy faces here and there. To end on a positive note though, the housekeeping was the best we've ever seen. Our room was incredibly clean and the maids changed towels, made the beds, etc. twice a day every day! At some point we may give the hotel another shot.
We have stayed at the Bellagio Hotel (by far the most elegant on the strip) 6 times over the last few years & it never fails to delight. The rooms are beautiful, the service is fantastic & the pool area is superb. We keep thinking we should try another hotel but don't... more
