Gran Hotel Guadalpin Byblos

We stayed at the Byblos for 2 weeks (Aug 9th - Aug 23rd), it was hard to find the hotel in the first place. We had a 2 bedroomed family suite, we walked in to a small lounge with dated furniture, it was dark and a little dingy, we had a bedroom with twin beds for our 2 girls (age 13 & 8 on the ground floor but then we went up very narrow winding steps out on to a landing type area with a sofa and table and then up another 4 steps to our double bed, (this was ok for us because our girls were older but if you have young children the steps and... more

Charming,friendly,relaxed. Hotel staff very helpful,food good,great golf,wonderful views. only problem is that it is too close to Fuengirola

Just returned from a 7 night stay, and we are a family of four with two girls aged 14 and 11. We booked late and were given a junior suite on two levels with superb views over the pool and golf course towards the mountains beyond. The room was very clean with mini bar, air con, two en-suites and loads of space and good sized balcony. Like the previous reviewer, we have just returned from 5 nights at the Byblos. It is situated about 3kms outside Fuengirola, but not in Mijas. The hotel is in between 2 beautifully manicured and lush green golf courses with the mountains behind providing a great backdrop. We had a junior suite that was lovely - massive bed, grand pillars, bathroom with 2 sinks, a shower / bath and seperate shower as well as sofa and dressing table. Just returned from a six day break at Hotel Byblos which as been taken over by the Guadalpin Hotel chain. We have been visiting Hotel Byblos for the last 8 years and have always enjoyed our stay. Its about 20 minutes from Malaga airport and is situated being two golf courses Los Olivios and Los Lagos and set in very well kept grounds. The hotel itself is ready for a refurb, which I’m sure new owners Guadalpin are sure to do. we had a terrific dinner with excellent service, stayed at a mini-suite with nice decoration and enjoyed the walking areas and gardens. Nice stay.

We have visited a number of 5 star hotels around the world and I have to say this was a big disappointment. Our main problem was the language barrier. It seems like only the hotel manager and one or two people at reception could understand English. The hotel is definitely more oriented towards Spanish and French visitors. We were virtually ignored and it was very frustrating as we didn't expect this from a 5 star hotel. Housekeeping couldn’t understand me and the spa charged me for a complimentary treatment. We only had the chance to stay for one night but, we were upgraded to a very large suite which overlooked the golf course and was VERY spacious. The resort is in need of updating as far as the bed linens, furniture, etc. My husband also played golf and felt that it was an average course. I did enjoy the spa facilities and would recommend that during your stay.

We stay in this wonderfull hotel last summer(july 2OO4). The rooms are very nice in deferent styles and spacius(40m²) for standard rooms, it calls suite in other hotels!! The food is extraordinairy good, and in the summer you dinner on the wonderfull terras near the pool. we had a wonderfull holiday even for are douchter of 1O years old. The staff was very frindly. We come back to this nice hotel.

I live in Marbella, and went to this Hotel for Valentines day/night. Rooms are incredibly basic – I would class the room (and we had a suite!) as a 2/3 star quality. The restaurant was very nice and I couldn’t fault the food, however the bar area was dated. Service not great either from the Hotel staff. All in all the Hotel is tired and desperately needs updating and modernising. I wouldn’t stay here again. The room and dinner cost €300 for the night and definitely wasn’t worth it.
