Returned again too the Artemis, as usual the hotel was spotless, and the family as welcoming as ever. first time return with my partner, like me she's fallen in love with the people and the place, Santorini is my sort of holiday. The room we had overlooked the sea, and provided a lovely backdrop. The pool area has receently been retiled and as usual the pool was spotlessly kept. Maria and all her family are a credit, and nothing is to much bother for them, a delightful stay with nice people.

Just returned from 2 weeks holiday in Perissa. Resort we found loveley, weather excellent. Accommodation was at the Artemis and we found this to be very disappointing. When we arrived we had to wait a while for the room and then carry large cases up two flights of outside stairs. We were just shown to rooms and left. Needless to say, we were surprised when entering as we had read good reviews about the hotel rooms, until the night before leaving for hols. which worried us. Hotel rooms were a good size, very dated though and the bathrooms were awful. There was a shower that had to be held in one hand, nowwhere to hook it, so you had to wash hair, then shower, no daring to put it down as it shot all over the bathroom.and soaked everything You had to wipe the toilet then before you could sit on it.The towels were appauling we personally would not have used them to dry a dog. Old, Threadbearn, rough and discoloured. We stayed 2 weeks and only had bed linen changed once, very poor in very hot weather, towels only changed when thrown on floor. The breakfast was the next surprise. Boring and repetative, fusty orange cordial, dry bread and sachets of jam/marmalade, except one saturday we had an egg cup containing one egg, a comment from another hotel guest was Whoopee an egg! When you entered the breakfast area, you felt as though everyone was whispering and that you were in someones front room. The staff spoke very little english, although they did appear to be friendly. We spent very little time at the hotel and the walk was far more than 400 metres. On the second day we went back to change for evening and there were a number of new beds and mattresses stacked in the corridor, hopefully we thought we may have one on these as the beds and pillows we had were so uncomfortable. No such luck. The Air conditioning was a different price to quoted on booking and the actual hotel pictures were different., We must say we walked up and down wishing we were in one the the other apartments or hotels - which looked loveley and welcoming.. By the way no comfort round pool, hard beds and pool bar closed. No atmosphere. in the resort we would recommend, Yazz-excellent staff, beach beds loveley, waited on . For meals the Volcano, Gods Garden, Kalamari (next to Charlina's). Advise the Sunset Cruise and also a bus ride the Thira is a must.

Sorry, but we found this hotel really disappointing, and would never return. Although the position is fine, the accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. The owners, whilst well-meaning and seemingly eager to please, do not speak any english, and there are real communication problems. We were shown 4 different rooms before we found one that was remotely acceptable. Even so, our room was cramped, with jaded furnture, and paper-thin walls. Ceiling fans and air-con were advertised in spec. but there was no fan, and they wanted to charge 6 euros per day for air-con. Nights were sweaty, and with a baby crying and someone snoring in the next room, we didn't get much sleep. The breakfasts were pitiful: orange squash, small pot of coffee, dry bread and cheap pre-packed jam. The pool bar was locked the whole time we were there (May/June), and there were no facilities to get any food or drink in the hotel. So if you wanted to spend a day by the pool, you would have to go hungry/thirsty, as a notice forbids you from consuming your own food and drink by the pool. The hotel couldn't even supply a bottle of water, a beer or a cup of tea, let alone a Greek salad or a toastie! As there is no communal hotel bar, the hotel lacked atmosphere - there was no welcoming place to have a night-cap on our return from dinner, but we gazed longingly at many other hotels that had just that. I'm sorry, but this was little more than a village room - albeit spotlessly clean and with 'Greek' feel. At least with self catering you have the wherewithall to prepare your own food/drink. Oh yes, I forgot about the 'welcome meeting' .... we were invited to attend at the 'Atmosphere Bar' at 10 am the day after our arrival. There was no address given, and after wandering around Perissa for 2 hours we gave up looking for it. Imagine our hysteria therefore when later that day, after an impulsive boat trip to a neighbouring resort - Kamari (costing 16 Euros) - we accidentally stumbled upon the 'Atmosphere Bar' and our Med Hotels rep, Scott! You had to laugh or you would cry!

This was our second visit to Santorini and also to the Artemis hotel. This is a family run hotel which is exceptionally clean both rooms and pool area, it is close enough to all the facilities but in a quiet part of Perissa with stunning views of the mountains behind.
Maria and her mum work tirelessly to make your stay as wonderful as possible and nothing is to much trouble for them if you need help.
The restaurants we recommend would be Charlinas on the beach road, Gods Garden just off main road in Perissa and the Meltemi Bar for fantastic cocktails and good music.
Mikes bikes outside the internet shop does good deals if you want to try the quad bikes great fun and safe. Can't wait for our next visit.

Spent two pleasant weeks last September at this hotel. Really nice family run hotel, spotlessly clean and well run. Excellent cooked breakfast for the silly price of 2 euro. Pool clean if a little deep at 1.8 metres. Will return to this wonderful island, Sirrocco restaurant is another place to frequent.

We've stayed at the Artemis on three occasions in the last five years and have nothing but praise. The hotel is in a great position, just a couple of minutes walk from the town, the front and the restaurants. The family go out of their way to help - and they do speak English -such as driving us to hospital in Fira when our son needed some stitches in a head wound. It's also quiet, apart from one 'noisy neighbour' so if it's relaxation you're after it's spot on; if you want to be a reveller, go somewhere else! Sitting on the veranda early in the morning watching the sun come up is a joy. Yes, the bathrooms are a little basic, but isn't that what you expect when you holiday in Greece?
