Myself and 4 girlfriends stayed here for a week in July 08. We arrived at around 9pm and were greeted by very helpful and friendly staff at the reception.
Room.
Once we entered the apartment there was a very unpleasant smell which took until about the 4th day to go away. The floors are covered with ants and we found a cockroach in r room! Security is quite strict as a security man came to our door about the music which i personally dont think was loud at all. The maids came everyday apart from wed and sun and always left a sufficent amount of towels.
Pool area.
There are two pool areas 1 being more livelier than the other and it was no problem getting sunbeds. The pool is very deep, the shallow end was up to my chin. The food in the foodbar is very nice and reasonably priced and the men that run it are good craic.
Location.
The location was brilliant as it was only a 3euro taxi fare to the town centre and taxis are very easy to get they are everywhere. Clubs are brill, cream chinawhites pacha. Most closed at 3am but cream stays open to 6am.
Overall I had a brilliant holiday and would definatly recommend the gran canaries and these apartments.

Me and 3 girl-mates stayed at this place.
It was really clean and tidy. Our towels were changed 3 times during the week, and when I walked in on the cleaner one day I saw that she had pulled the bed out and was cleaning behind there even! We didn't see a cockroach in the appartments the whole time, the bins were emptied daily and we had all of the utensils and electricals we needed in the appartment.
There were bars outside the appartments therefore if you do need a good nights sleep I would suggest taking ear plugs - i had some from the plane and they did fine when I wanted an early night!
The KASBAH is wicked for young people, but I really didnt enjoy it much on a Saturday becuase a lot more of the spanish men were out, and the english reps jus kept telling us to watch our bags! There were also a lot of reps out in the street trying to drag you in. I would also recommend the plaza, the wassup bar especially is lots of fun.!
We didn't bother with the foam parties & booze cruises as at 50euros each we felt it was a waste, especially when the rep selling them admited that the drinks are relatively weak and watered down!
The Yumbo centre was amazing, once you had a few drinks inside you with a lot of bars aimed at the gay scene - not a place Id really recommend for kids as some of the shows were quiet explicit, but not so much as to be pornographic! Also be aware that some of the bars there are men only, and also, one of the guys we met there had his wallet stolen there, so you have to be careful!
As for food... I think if your happy to have chicken or salads you can eat cheaply, however if not for 4 people our bill was around 90-100 euros everynight, i would also recommend that if you head to the beach go left from the cab point as the restaurants get cheaper up there.. Cafe ROMA is highly recommended.
I would recommend this hotel for young outgoing individuals rather than families - some of the conversations around the pool were a bit much for the kids. Also think the pool bar is wicked - they do good bacon sandwiches in the morning for 3 euros & chips are to die for..! The barman "H" is a total star - he remembered my name & order after first few drinks!
For me and 3 of my friends, it...

For me and 3 of my friends, it was the first time we had all visited Gran Canaria, as we wanted to go some where we had never travelled before.
The Barbados Apartments, are very simple and basic with all the things you need, including a kettle, microwave, and TV (which you have to put euro's in, and most of the channels are spanish)
Looking at other aparments on the drop offs, our's didnt really live up to my expectations, however, for a week they were fine.
Whilst on our stay, we saw 4 cockroaches, which was traumatic! We told one of the maids about this, although i believe she could understand what we were saying, she said she couldnt understand.
Our Maid, only came round once to change towels, and didnt change our bed sheets the whole time we were there, despite this, they can every so often to empty the bin.
Id advise, anybody who likes their music! loud, and of a night to keep it quiet. We had a next door neighbour, who we believe lived in the apartments, who sent the security around 4 times during our stay, complaining about noise of an evening.
Back to the actual Holiday. The resturants, are cheap and the food is amazing. for anybody that wants to try something new, i suggest 'The Grand Buffet' its 10Euro's, Self service, and eat all you want.
The British Bulldog, is also a nice place to go, its mainly english so people feel at home. The Breakfast's for me, werent so nice, however the breakfast rolls, are bang on! loved them!
The Yumbo Centre, which is just around the corner from the Barbados, is lively of an evening and nice of a day time. Can i just mention, it is very popular for its GAY SCENE, which i personally dont have a problem with however, theyre were a few guys who were checking out my boyfriend! We went there, for walks and shopping, and just looking around. The shops are brilliant, and all the little stalls are good too.
The KASBAH.. Is WICKED! Me and my friends, loved the clubs there, especially CHINA WHITE and BACHIRA, Loved these clubs! Every night we went out, we had people ushering us to different clubs, offering us deals on drinks and shots, this is aimed at people who like to drink.
Of a day time, or for those who like to shop, the Kasbah is brilliant for this, for anybody who's up for a bit of haggling, always look out for a caculator!
We also visited a casino there, which was based in MASPALOMAS, the more developed side of our resort. It was lovely, with shops like, MANGO, E SPIRIT, & a number of different designer stores. Most shops at the time offered around 30% off.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at gran canaria, and am hoping to visit again. However, Id choose different accomodation.

Myself and my boyfriend went here with another couple and some other friends. It was our first holiday without the parents, we were 17, 18, 19, 19. It was the best holiday ever! The apartments were basic but it was all we needed as we were only ever in it to get ready to go out at night and to sleep in. H is the best barman ever! He even kept the bar open for us to have a drink in then took us to a restaraunt and had dinner with us and his brother Jamie, Jamie doesnt speak any english but came out clubbing with us every night! They are both top blokes!
The apartments are right next to the Yumbo, only a 2 mins walk away, it great but we spent more of our time at the Kasbah which is only 2.50 euros in a taxi. All the clubs are great esspecially Ministry of Sound club, id reccomend it!
There is lots to do at night, plenty of clubs, bars and places to eat, we went to the Toro Grill in the Kasbah and it was great! I would advise you to avoid the wee chinese buffet in the yumbo! it was horrible, doesnt even taste like food. but my pal loved it so we went a few times anyway, i ate chips haha!
If you are going with a family with young kids i wouldnt stay here, although there is two large pools, its not really a place to take young children, not a lot for them to do unless they like clubbing!
Barbadoes is definately a 10/10 and i would go back there in a shot, excellent for a holiday for young people. We tried to book up again there this year but couldnt get. We are going to Capri Bunglaows instead, in maspalomas. not heard very many good things about it but i didnt really here anything too good about barbadoes and it turned out to be great.

me nd 7 friends went for a week in jul 07. wen we got the appartments initially i wasnt impressed from the outside just as we had passed other appartment blocks that were far more appealing but i loved it. when u arrive u have to walk down a flight of stairs to the receptionist whom was very friendly and gave us our keys. the rooms were very basic but clean. the pools were adequate but not the best although im not fussy so they were great for me. on the busier pool there is pauls pool bar which is great for hangover food or a hangover drink, he was very friendly and really good crac and a gud laff. underneath the appartments there is a supermarket like a spanish spar or whatever selling everything from vodka to flipflops then theres a couple of bars and the british bulldog which was nice for eating in and just down a bit there was a a spar selling everything u can think of to, also theres a off liscense below to. its a minute walk from the yumbo which was gud cuz i was away with me and 7 of my gay friends and the beach is like a 15 20 minute walk away but the taxis are sooooo cheap and very sufficient. just booked my holiday again today. going for 2 weeks and going back to barbados appartments. overally loved it! cant wait to go back

My family and I went New Years Eve staying for 7nts. On arrival we were greeted by the receptionist, given our key but we had to find our own way the hotel room. As soon as I entered the room I disliked it straight away, it was very basic and I said to my husband "never again". When I started to unpack my cases in every draw there was grafitti saying not very nice comments, if you use your imagination so that put even more doubts in my mind.
The pool was very cold yet clean, I had two young children with me aged 10 & 12 but it didn’t put them off jumping in every day. But the price we paid you would of thought it would of been a heated pool but hey ho there you go.
The cleaners came every day but they just did a lick round. When I go on holiday I like to relax but it’s far too noisy. So all I can say if you are a group of young people looking for a wild boozy holiday this is the place to go and if you are gay, please don’t get me wrong I have no problems with gay people but this resort is about 80% full of gays. I saw no bother what so ever every one was friendly towards you but you have got to be very opened minded.
I would never return to this hotel again or the resort. But I will say go to the Sioux city on a Friday night now that was fantastic, it was 48 Euros for adults and 28 Euros for the kids but all your beer was free and your bbq and the entertainment was fab. It’s nice down at the beach but very busy but clean. And all the food was nice. So if you are young wild and opened minded get yourself off you will love it but sorry it’s not for me and my children.

First time we have been to Gran Canaria, the apartments were clean and well equipped we had kettle toaster and a microwave.
With 4 young children we found it noisy after 10pm because there are bars underneath both apartment blocks. The pool area was clean and tidy and you can get snacks from the pool bar, and you could use the pool in either block, Barbados 1 doesn't have a pool bar so it was a lot quieter there.
It’s well situated for the Yumbo centre, and about 15mins walk to beach. There is a nice bar underneath the apartments called The Jolly Jester, which is child friendly and the staff are really nice.
The light in our bathroom went so we reported it to reception; within 20 mins this was fixed.
All the staff in reception and the pool bar were friendly and helpful.
If it wasn't for the noise I would have given Barbados 1&2 10/10.

We stayed in these apartments for 2 weeks from 8th sept until 22nd sept... had a wicked first week with 2 of our girl mates who was there, the 2nd week me and my fella was alone. We couldn't at first fault these apartments; clean, nice pool, only one problem - the staff there was one nice woman. When we arrived we had an oldish man who checked us in not saying a word until saying our room number... our 2nd week was a nightmare.. our apartment was robbed don't know how we locked our door and closed the balcony doors. They managed to take a lot of valuables and money even though it was well hidden, we was at the beach this day. And also we had a huuuuge cockroach in our bathroom. Overall the apartments are in an ideal location for the yumbo and restaurants n bars.. the british bulldog is wicked the staff are fab!! Go to chillis tex mex its next to the koka apartments near kasbah centre very nice!! (mexican). We will return to Playa next year but sorry not these apartments, prob the koka again.

I stayed in these apartments from the 8th September until the 22nd September, I went with my boyfriend and 2 girls, and we had 2 rooms.
The first week here was amazing the girls left after the 1st week so we had a week alone. The apartments were in an amazing location Yumbo centre over the road, I recommend the British bulldog the staff are ace n the food n drink n service is amazing! but all around the apartments are bars restaurants supermarkets, bus stop over road n taxis always one near.
The beach is about a 15 min walk or 3 Euros in taxi. the pool was nice n clean busy at times, we had one major problem at the start of our 2nd week... room number 408 our room was broken into... they took a lot of money and a lot of valuables, the staff in the hotel sad to say are very ignorant and unhelpful, the police are the same.
Apart from this a wicked holiday it’s our 2nd time to playa del ingles this year, stayed in koka in may not a problem at all there. Barbados apartments are very popular, the rooms are very noisy.
We will return to playa del ingles next year built sorry to say never returning to Barbados apartments oh and we had a very big cockroach in our bathroom.

Stayed here for 7 nights. There were 5 adults in 2 bed roomed apartment. Absolutely fabulous venue. Heading back there in 6 days time. Can't wait.
Staff are brilliant and accommodation is spotless and very comfortable.
There are a number of cafes bars and restaurants within easy walking distance and the Yumbo is right next door offering great entertainment for all ages. Food and drink all reasonably priced.
This venue offers a great base for any family of whatever age and I thoroughly recommend this as a holiday destination. 10/10

Well, I’ve just read all the reviews about these apartments. I've been coming here every year since I was 19 and find these apartments the best. The staff are so friendly, the apartments are secure, the nightlife in the Yumbo is perfect and the cheese and ham toasties from the pool bar are excellent.
The pool area is very peaceful so you can nurse your hangover all day and get relaxed ready for another night down el yumbo centrum! I've also stayed at Liberty, Santa Fe, Santa Clara but these are by far the best. If you can't get into these the next best ones are Las Camelias Apartments.
Happy Holidays and enjoy

Apartments where cleaned everyday, very friendly, two teenage daughter’s room was a mess most of the 2 weeks we were there, this did not put the cleaners off, still cleaned around it.
Loads of places to eat, or the supermarket right next door. Cooking was ok, Oven, Toaster, kettle all the mod cons. Even a television if you had plenty of euros to put in it.
This came in handy when daughter got heat stroke.
Only thing we where there when it was a Spanish bank holiday, could not get into the pool, Locals hogged it. Would not let anyone have balls, or inflatables in the pool.
The gay centre is in the Yumbo centre, which we where told about, my husband is a bit open mined, but even his eyes where widened.
If you get the chance go to the aqua park we did and loved it.
The glass lifts look out onto the main street. Medical centre across the road, this came in handy when my nice hurt her back, very friendly.
The best for last The British Bull dog pub next door. Lovely Food. It was my nieces 8th birthday while we were there. They arranged for a surprise birthday cake, reserved the seating area for us, balloons and banners. Go, they make you feel welcome.
They do quizzes most nights, my daughters always came runners up in the end they gave them the prize.
The beach is beautiful, lovely clean sand. Go through the week, locals use it at weekends not a lot of sun bed left.
Overall great holiday.

Excellently situated for everything, especially the Yumbo centre.
There were 5 of us in total and we had two apartments which were well maintained by the cleaners on a daily basis, apart from Weds/Suns as that was their days off.
Pool was great and quiet and the weather was amazing.
I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here for a cheap holiday.

These apartments were wonderful. For a family of 2 adults and 2 children aged 17 and 10 there was so much to do and so little time. There is the Yumbo center which is a great place to visit but be careful on a night time if you don’t like pushy venders as my daughter experienced being pulled into shops by them.
The area is clean and tidy, yes they apartments are basic but that is all you need with such wonderful restaurants and cafes about. We highly recommend the small Italian restaurant directly across the road from the apartments and the British bulldog pub for a great time.
Perfect for families and young people alike. The staff are friendly and polite and the apartments are a must place to stay.
We will most definitely be going again!
