We stayed at the Casa Marina Beach...
10 / 10
Aug 2006, Ann Terry

We stayed at the Casa Marina Beach last year and it was the best holiday that we have ever had. The room and bathroom was spotless and the maid who came in on a morning couldn't do enough for you, nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent as was the service in the dining room. There was such a lot of choice that I don't think that we had the same meal twice in the two weeks we were there. The entertainment during the day was exactly what you would expert on a beach holiday, but the entertainment crew did know how to take no for any answer, if you declined to join in they respected your wishes.
All in all a magnificent holiday the only problem is 2 weeks is nowhere near long enough to stay at this delightful resort, therefore we have booked a longer stay next year and are spending 3 weeks there. The only problem I can envisage is that after 3 weeks in paradise will you really want to come home!

Stayed for 2 weeks at casa marina...
9 / 10
Jul 2006, Mrs J Newton

Stayed for 2 weeks at casa marina beach there was 4 adults 2 children the rooms were spacious and very clean, clean bedding/towels everyday air conditioning and a safe in the room didn’t see any bugs in our room which was a big fear for me.
The food was good with a choice of 2 buffet restaurants also Mexican, Italian, seafood restaurants which you had to make reservations for the seafood one was excellent.
No need to take beach towels as your issued with tickets which you exchange for the towels not limited to one a day when its wet exchange it beach beautiful and clean choice of various activities 3 pools watch your white bathers they turned a yellow/green shade off the chlorine but the pools they didn’t smell of chlorine.
Don’t book your tours through the rep go to Mel tours which is a lot cheaper and its exactly the same tours he is situated just outside the gates of the hotel (he looks like p diddy) and the rep will tell you that they don’t have insurance but they do, ocean world dolphin swim shark swim great fantastic, fun buggies if you like getting dirty we did this twice it was great fun, the jeep safari with the climbing of the waterfalls was great children under 8 cant go up the waterfall but can play in the crystal clear water and play with the fish also we took pencils/pens /notebooks/sweets for the children these you just throw from the trucks (we didn’t like this but the kids have nothing and sweets are very very expensive). Also a good tip for gratuities is 20 pesos a good wage is 700 pesos a month take small notes in dollars or pesos.
The rum factory was good we bought rum at a fraction of the price for all your pressies to take home don’t buy at the hotels or shops go to cabarete liquidation warehouse the cost next to nothing e.g. Necklace in hotel or shops 200 pesos at the warehouse 60 pesos and they don’t hassle you . Also next door there is a great ice cream parlour try the coffee/bubblegum/fruit of the forest ice cream its divine.
Paradise Island was a let down we did the VIPs trip and there was just too many people on the island which was not bigger than 2minutes walk around the edge.
There was no upset tummy all the water is purified except tap water the ice is safe also big containers of water for you to fill your bottles were available at the casa marina.
If you need to go to hospital like we did don’t go to Bourg Miguel ask the doctor to go to the American hospital. Bad experience at the Bourg Miguel.
On the whole we had a great time. I would go back but the world is so big .and there is a lot more out there to see

Jul 2006, Mr A J Gollaglee

Quite possibly the best resort I have ever been to, the staff are friendly and the beach that is attached to the hotel is situated in the perfect position.
This hotel is the best hotel in the world the facilities activities all completely awesome. The entertainment was sublime, it added to the overall enjoyment of the holiday.
Usually I wouldn't stay up in the evening to watch entertainment but this was different I actually stayed up in the evening to watch the entertainment.

I stayed at the casa marina beach for...
5 / 10
Mar 2006, Miss L Scott

I stayed at the casa marina beach for two weeks in January, this been my first time to the Dom Rep. I traveled with my partner and 2 year old son and after reading some shocking reviews was naturally worried about taking my son to what I thought would be a smelly, dirty dump. So you can imagine my relief when we arrived and opened our room door to a bright, clean (if a bit tatty) room.
The holiday overall would be fantastic for couples and families with older children but as for been child friendly I think not.
My son had to live on chips for two weeks as there was no children menus, regularly missed the evening meal as it started to late and as for the children’s entertainment, it started a 8.45 and lasted about 10 mins (which he also slept through). We spent our first night sat in our room hungry as our son was so tired after traveling he crashed out before mealtime and we was told we would be stopped by security if we tried to take food to our room.
Apart from my long list of complaints about the flexibility of the hotel as far as children were concerned everything else was not too bad.
Food ok, weather great, rooms nice. If you’re traveling without children what more do you need. You get what you pay for.

This was probably the best holiday...

This was probably the best holiday I’ve ever had!
The hotel was extremely clean and the maid service was outstanding. There is also fantastic 14 night entertainment programme which i found to be really enjoyable, the entertainers are all incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make sure that you are having a good time. There is also a kids club if you fancy a couple of hours by the pool or an afternoon on the beach.
The food and drink was excellent and there was plenty of it too! Even though all of the bars finish serving free drinks at 12.00 the Merlin bar is open from 11.00pm and you can purchase drinks from there or the on site nightclub (The drinks are really cheap).
I would personally recommend this to anyone looking for a good time and a value holiday although the resort is aimed more towards couples and families.

Sep 2005, Miss E Gibson

This is the second time myself and my boyfriend have visited here. However the first trip was in June 2004 and we stayed in the Reef. We enjoyed every minute of our trip from the accommodation to the food, people, entertainment and of course the weather!!
This time we stayed in the Beach side and were not impressed with the accommodation, the room had a damp fusty smell and the cleaning was not up to much. We didn’t let this spoil our holiday though.
I would say to anyone for future reference that if you're going to book then book for the Reef side as the rooms are a much higher standard. The people are extremely friendly and work really hard to make your holiday memorable. The food is good with a wide variety but you must remember you're abroad so the choice will not be the same as home so if your very British stay at home!!
On the whole it's a great place to visit within the complex and out and about.

The rooms at the Casa Marina Hotel...
4 / 10
Jul 2005, Not Specified

The rooms at the Casa Marina Hotel are VERY basic and are in need of some TLC! The original room given was unacceptable and we had to be moved (the room smelled damp, the air conditioning unit rattled constantly and there was no balcony)
The food served in the Mexican, Italian and the main buffet restaurant was completely unsatisfactory - the food itself was disgusting and the menus did not change!
The entertainment staff work very hard provide a vast range of daytime activities. However, the only entertainment provided in the evening is a one hour show and the Disco, which has a cash bar. The all inclusive bars were very busy with only one member of staff serving at a time and they closed at 11pm. If you wish to continue drinking you must move to the cash bars which defeats the point of All Inclusive.
We did venture out of the resort on a few occasions (day and night)and found a great eating place (The Voodoo Lounge). We felt quite safe out of the resort but did remove our Hotel bands when we were out as the prices seemed to increase when we were wearing them.
To be honest I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and I certainly would not go back.

Stayed at the Casa Marina Beach in...
9 / 10
May 2005, Miss S Hodgson

Stayed at the Casa Marina Beach in May 2005 with my partner to celebrate my 21st birthday, originally wanted to go to Bavaro but chose Sosua as it was closer to Ocean World and really wanted to for fill my dream of swimming with dolphins. And I have to say the hotel is fantastic for a 3* it as adjoined to its sister hotel the Casa Marina Reef and it just looks like one big complex, it as 2 private beaches, the one on the reef side been the nicest, it as 2 large pools with small children’s pools attached, and 1 smaller pool with a children’s pool next to it.
It also as 3 Jacuzzis set into the Rocks over looking the sea (which are amazing) and it is so nice to just sit and relax with a drink in them. There is also 2 buffet restaurants, plus 3 a la carte, Mexican, Italian, seafood. We preferred the buffet restaurants as there is such a varied choice to choose from and it also changes every evening, one evening may be Spanish food the next Indian, next American and so on. There is also the amphitheatre with a different show each evening which is great fun.
And if you get there chance make sure you go to Ocean World it is the best day out ever and the most memorable experience, you can swim with dolphins, just meet the dolphins, meet sea lions, feed the sharks, feed the tigers, the list is endless......I would go back to the Dominican and would definitely go back to the Casa Marina Beach, please remember though you get what you pay for and this is just a 3* so don’t expect 5* treatment.

This was the best holiday I have ever...

May 2005, Miss M K Jones

This was the best holiday I have ever been on. It was brilliant value for money and the service at the hotel was exceptional.
I would definitely go back to the Dominican Republic again. Airtours flight was very comfortable considering it was 8 and half hours long. The actual resort was very appealing. There were plenty of bars to relax in and the food at all 5 of the restaurants was very good. My boyfriend and I stayed at the Casa Marina Reef complex, but spent most of our time on the private beach at Casa Marina Beach, which is the sister, hotel. The staff at the resort were very friendly and entertaining and really made the holiday worth while.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort and value for money. This hotel deserves more than its 3 star official rating.

My partner and me stayed here from 28/11/04 for two weeks. The standard of accommodation was excellent seen as though its only 3 star. The meals are brilliant ant there is a wide variety for everyone, vegetarian, children etc and the speciality restaurants are a must. The entertainment was fantastic the complex boasting a 14 night entertainment programme, the entertainment ranges from local Dominican dances and shows to a Mr & Mrs type evening involving the audience at every possible moment. The local area is amazing although it is recommended that you don’t leave the complex at night, however we visited a few local bars in Sosua at night and it was OK. The people within the complex speak about 3-4 different languages and always have a smile on their faces, they are extremely polite. This was probably the best holiday that I have ever had and would recommend it to anybody old or young.
