I can only sing the praises of our holiday! The resort was lovely and the hotel fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel was spotlessly clean and modern, the staff were extremely polite and helpful (and spoke to us in English). Our room was very impressive - it had 2... more

Sep 2006, Miss C Kay

Upon booking our apparent 4 star spa hotel we were looking forward to a luxurious holiday only 2.5 hours away from home with a 45 minute transfer. To say that we were disappointed and feel misled is an understatement. Once landing in Pula airport, we discovered that... more

Nice hotel but............
My wife and I stayed here W/C 12.09.06. The hotel is very clean, the staff very helpful and the food (and drink) equally good. The mix of guests is predominantly British and German - the German contingent a little higher than the Brits the week I was there. Not a problem though as everybody rubbed along pretty well - especially at mealtimes. Mealtimes were a relaxed affair with buffet meals at both breakfast and dinner. One word of warning, don't attempt to take food out of the restaurant. I tried, not aware of the "no food out rule" and was called back and embarrassed by the "Apple Police" - be warned. Our room was in a quiet location and, like all the others, a little on the small side and with insufficient storage space - no drawers at all. The balcony too was quite small. The air conditioning was not really necessary during our stay but it worked very well. The shower room/WC was fine (but no bidet) - the shower was first class with a constant supply of hot water. Plenty of towel changes. The hotel itself stands in well manicured gardens and has a very nice swimming pool and small paddling pool. There is a basic pool bar - not open all day and on rainy days not open at all. The sea is a 5 minutes walk away. It rained on 5 of our 7 days - not all day by any means but enough to take the edge of our Croatian break. The hotel is not geared up for wet days - there is little to do and space in the lobby/bar area becomes premium territory. Too few seats/tables to watch the same 3 piece band each night - we stayed in our room most wet evenings - we had seats a TV and a minibar there!! It is a fair walk (20 mins or so on uneven ground and not well lit at night) down to Porec - there is a land train but it was always full. However, the walk is well worthwhile as Porec is a beautiful little town with lots of places to eat (fairly cheaply) and the usual maze of shops. There are a couple of taxi boats that run til late calling at fixed stops and these can save weary feet. All in all I would say that Croatia in general and the Porec area in particular is a beautiful place, fairly quiet and low key - no discos nor noisy pub/bars. Perfect for a relaxing break but keep an eye on the weather and take an umbrella with you everywhere!!
Superb Hotel, Wonderful Staff!
We stayed for 6 nights and booked directly with the hotel, which worked out at just under £200 each. The hotel said 4*, well I think facilities wise it was, but staff wise it should be a 5* easily! The hotel was imaculately clean, the staff were friendly, helpful always had a smile and often had a joke. The wellness facilites were great and the spa centre was great value at 50kn for as long as you like. Breakfast scared me there was so much choice! Although they got a bit shirty about people stealing bananas there was so much on offer - really enough to cater for everyone's tastes and a beautiful fruit bar too, so healthy and not so healthy were catered for! We didn't have an evernin meal there as it was cheaper elsewhere but there appeared to be a lot of choice. The pool bar staff were again, lovely, and the food was healthy and innovative, as well as being very cheap and yummy! The rooms were great - the only place I've ever stayed with a fully working understandable quiet aircon unit! And the glass screens are tinted so give a lovely tone to the room and keep out the glare. Overall - Amazing - i would go back tomorrow and recommend anyone I know to go there too!
Excellent food and hotel
We stayed at Diamant for 6 days from 4th August after catching ferry from Venice. Lovely room and excellent buffet style food, lots of fruit and vegetables. It is usually half board and drinks, ice cream are extra, but because the currency is not euros, the kuna is 10 per british pound so we only spent £80 for all drinks and lunches. The only negative would be the one swimming pool, great for young children but can be very crowded. No good for actual proper swimming. There is evening entertainment and this was sometimes very noisy and you need to choose the location of your room carefully to avoid the noise.
Hire a car
We stayed here with another couple in August 2006 and thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Croatia. The welcome was friendly and English was widely spoken, rooms were well appointed and the standard of cleanliness was excellent. There was a wide selection of buffet style food available. We enjoyed being outside the main resort area and free to make our own amusement. Having a hired car for the duration of our stay certainly increased our satisfaction and made it easy to visit Rovinj, The Lim Fjord, Pula with its Roman amphitheatre, the hilltop villages of Motovun and Grosnjan, and the highlight - a tour of Tito's island of Brijuni. If you want sandy beaches then look elsewhere. This was not the best value for money we have had but we still enjoyed it.
Good hotel, great location
Have just stayed in this hotel for a long weekend break and the location was great - just a pleasant 15 minute walk along the coast to the marina in Porec, but also an easy drive to the center. The buffet breakfast was excellent - a really good selection and lots of freshly cooked items such as pancakes. The bedrooms were a good size and comfortable - the only complaint being that the rooms were incredibly hot and the air-conditioning is not operational in May! Having been stuck in the lift one evening at this hotel, I would recommend using the stairs! There was live music on the Friday night which stopped at a respectable 10.30pm, but on the Saturday evening the music went on until 1.30am and our friends who had a room on the second floor were disturbed by the noise. All in all though, a nice hotel - would stay there again.
excellent facilities and attentive staff
Rooms fairly basic, but the hotel facilities generally made up for this. Lovely quiet spot 20-30minute wooded walk into Porec, outstanding scenery along the way. The food was excellent, plenty of it and lots of variety. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and decorated to a high standard. The staff were very polite and helpful, and nothing was too much trouble to help with my disabled mother. My onlt criticism was the ramp from the reception up to the lift area was far too steep for the wheelchair and very slippy. Luckily my mum could manage to walk the few yards up the ramp, although with some dificulty. Apart from that, the hotel was very wheelchair friendly, as was most of the surrounding area. The evening entertaiment was also not to everyones taste, however it did appear to please the predominantly german guests. I would definately consider going back to the Diamant.
Decent place to stay
The hotel from the outside didn't look very inviting. With the exception of one person at the front desk, the staff was lovely. The tour operator at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. They have many wonderful excursions that you can sign up for. The day trip to Venice is worthwhile. Also, the excursion to Lake Bled is beautiful. The food was the same night after night but the staff was friendly and their was variety to the food. The rooms were very small but clean. The amenities were good. The town of Porec is within walking distance (15-20 minutes) and is a great town to shop and eat in. The path to the town goes along the coast and is scenic. Although we did not come with children we could see many kids doing rope courses and activities with the staff. All in all this was a decent place to come to.
Family will Return!!
An American family of three: From the staff to the amenities and the access to the beach we loved the Diamant. The hotel staff and the Animation Crew (childrens program) met our every need. A big plus to the Animation Crew; they actually did things with the children. They went on a treasure hunt to an island one day and played sports other days. Every night there was family entertainment. We went on a great day trip to Venice that a tour guide in the hotel arranged. The buffet dinning had a new theme every day and the food was above average. The pool area was fun for children and adults, but the pool staff did not enforce the posted rules. They staff had daily pool arobics and childrens events. The only down side to the pool were the German guests that would save spots with their towels without actually being at the pool until the late afternoon. My wife and I liberated these saved but unoccupied spots without incident. The beach area is wonderful. The water is crystal clear and you can rent a paddle boat or scuba dive. All in all we cant wait to return to the Diamant.
Best Hotel in Porec ?
JUst got back from 4 days staying at the Diamant with wife and two teenage kids. Not a bad hotel if you like what my kids called panzer food! All meals are buffet and plentiful but very samey each night. This is mass catering and very noisey surroundings, maybe l am just old and boring but seeing people stuffing themselves with multi plateful of food of each course can be off putting. Word of warning, Croatia is new to many things, and traffic can be very very heavy as road infrastructure isn't quite there yet. We were stuch for three hours going to Pula whuch as onlt 25km away. Is a 4 star?, maybe just about as it has A/C, but quality of fittings etc, not really.
100%
I can honestly say this is the best hotel we have ever stayed. The position, the rooms, the food, (Plenty of it) the staff all well trained and superb manners, nothing was too much trouble for them. The Hotel was very clean and well maintained, great pool. good entertainment. The prices were reasonable. This was a 5 star Hotel. I would recomend it to anybody. Porec is beautiful, lots to see, the locals need your trade so they are loveley. This place will get busier year by year. All Croatians seem to be working very hard to make things right for the holidaymaker. The only kind of person the area would not suit is a nightclubber. There was very little going on after midnight.
