Uvala Hotel

We have just returned from a week staying at this hotel and what can i say, excellent enjoyable stay. I am a seasoned traveller and most hotels i stay in i see has only been a place to sleep and eat, a base for my trip, but Uvala was a welcoming place, the wellness centre was very good. You need to book treatments on your arrivial for the rest of the week and plan your trip around the appointments if it is the wellness centre you have gone for as bookings soon get taken. I stayed at Hotel Uvala for one week together with my wife, son, dautghter, son in law and two grandchildren. We had three rooms at the top floor, among these one family room. We were very satisfied with our stay. The hotel is clean, services functioned allways and the staff was excellent allways with an eye to give us the best service - even when we met them in their freetime in the city or at the beach. This should not be a 4 star hotel. On the surface i.e reception it looks excellent but it's rather shabby and should be rated as a 3 star. Not value for money, facilites were run down and the pool does not have a sun all day so it's freezing and un-used. We simply slept there and had breakfast (which was very good) as there was no reason to stay there during the day... Lapad is certainly the poor relation of Dubrovnik-Package tour heaven, dirty beach etc...

It was perfect for my spur of the moment vacation. Having never been to Croatia before, and having limited knowledge of the area as well, I randomly chose this hotel simply because of the appeal of the wellness centre and macrobiotic menu advertised. Prior to booking our holiday in Dubrovnik, we read countless Reviews from this website and had gone to considerable lengths to learn about the Uvala Hotel and Croatia. As a result we felt confident that we were going to have an excellent experience. Regrettably this couldnt have been further from the truth. During my first stay in Croatia, I decided - after working for 2 years extremely hard - to drive down to Dubrovnik for a 2 day stay and let me be treated in the spa & wellness of a exclusive hotel. The rooms are clean, nice and has a upper-european class. Even the mini bar wasn't too expensive. The housekeeping and restaurant staff is super kind, nice, accomondating and professional. The hotel looks great and the staff treated us well, with the front desk and maids faultless. We always found a spot by the pool if we wanted to. The breakfasts were great and well staffed. We felt privileged to stay there. It is easy to want Hotels like this to be closer to or within the walls of Dubrovnik proper but then that would spoil this perfect city and in any cases the buses are frequent enough. Improvements? Enjoyed our week in Dubrovnik at the beginning of July following a week in Montenegro. Dubrovnik is much more commercialised than Montenegro so took time to adjust. It is a beautiful city with plenty to do within the Old Town - walk the walls, The Rectors Palace, Church of St Blasius, Jesuit Church, The Franciscan Monastery (cloisters very peaceful), sit by the harbour and relax and much more. Just returned from a week at the Uvala Hotel. Booked in without any problems and shown to room. Furnishings were of a good standard and the room was spotlessly clean. The only feature we would have liked was the facility to make tea/coffee in the room. All the staff went out of their way to be helpful. My Husband and myself returned from Dubrovnik last night (16th July), having stayed 2 weeks in the Uvala Hotel. Dubrovnik is just so beautiful, and we cannot recommend it highly enough. The people were just so friendly and helpful too. We feel we have really found a 'jewel' in Croatia, and will go back very soon again. P.G. About Hotel Uvala, we were so happy there!
