Brilliant hotel

I am just back from the Hotel America, staying there from 3rd May 2011, to 10th May.
I am in my late 70`s, and do not think I have stayed in a better 3 star hotel. The staff are friendly, and the food was super. There were really interesting foods, like stuffed aubergines, and beautiful crab and other seafood salads. The pool bar had sandwich makings in their fridge all day, along with drinks, coffee and cold water. There was also icecream all day!!!
There were not many children, but the entertainment staff had games for them at various times during the day.
The Staff also had adult games four times a day, both serious (archery, shooting, pool, table tennis, and darts,) but also fun games
which were hilarious. Igor, and his assistant Qini, were entirely dedicated, and great fun.
The beds were not too hard, and the sheets were nice and LONG !! The bedrooms ALL face the sea, and the view is idyllic, two beautiful bays, with lifeguards, and beds and umbrellas.
I would have liked a hair dryer in the room, instead of having to hire one, but there were lots of plugs for any accessories.

was 1st time aboard and just kept coming back to this hotel
loved the look of the hotel on the cliffs.
booked for a party of 10, when we arrived advised rooms not ready but they booked us in and said the rooms would be ready for 1400 and they were.
the staff were very pleasant and helpful. food was plentiful and with enough choice, yeah it wasn't fine dining but do you expect for 3 star?
beach is lovely and the kids enjoyed swimming in the sea.
booked to go back this year

We arrived at this hotel, only to find we had no room booked! After trying for an hour to get someone to deal with it, we were told we can go to another hotel , but it will be half board!! What?? I really had to kick up a fuss to get what I,d paid for!! Then was told to go away and come back in an hour..After being up at 2.30 am and then a delay at the airport, this is definately not the time or place to come up with a 'Go away' to me!!
We then decided to have a drink, and looked round...This in itself was a No No..Our first impressions of screaming kids, crying babies and then finding crappy nappies around the pool area, was disgusting!! Left over food remains all over the floor, beer glasses, fag ends..OMG What had we come to?? We never got to see the rooms, Thank heavens, as we were expectin cockroaches as permanant tenants!! I then demanded we get moved that day, and we were transferred with an upgrade to a proper 4star hotel in Cala Millor..where we had a great time !! If you like a proper 4 star then DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL!! You will regret it..We have since heard there are loads who feel as we do..

The first thing to strike you about this hotel is the outstanding views (every room has a sea view) it is without doubt a location of natural beauty, even when you are leaving you will find yourself stealing one last look.
We were all inclusive and were very pleased with the food and drink served in the hotel. It was buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a good selection to choose from.
The hotel was very clean and well organised. All in all this was an excellent hotel to visit. we would definitely go back again.

Fantastic location on a lovely little bay and beach.
All rooms have sea view - beautiful.
Hotel very clean and bedrooms and bathrooms nice and those we were in were not shabby or needing decoration.
All day snack and drinks arrangements were adequate - toasties, burgers and pizzas, soft drinks and beer.
2 swimming pools of medium size didn't seem to be chock a block but poolside was and all sunbeds were used. We witnessed starters orders for towels on beds at 5.30 in the morning!
There was however a couple of other terraces with beds which were much quieter.
The meals in the restaurant were ok - usual stuff for all inclusive catering for French, German, Spanish and British. I say ok but not great and we have had better elsewhere.
Evening entertainment no better than average.
Purpose built resort is very quiet with what looked like a few other hotels and more apartments. Small commercial centre with bars (including sat tv for sports etc) and shops selling usual tat.
Great place for relaxing time if that's all you want to do.

An absolutely wonderful hotel

I'm giving this hotel a 10/10 even though at the beginning of the holiday there was a glitch - I'll get this out of the way first and then explain why I'm still giving Hotel America such a high rating...
When we arrived, just after midnight, we were told there was no room for us. We were understandably upset but there was nothing that could be done about that. The hotel called a taxi to take us to an alternative hotel for the night. This turned out to be about 150 yards up the road - so no taxi was really necessary! We checked in to this other hotel quickly (which was also All Inclusive), was given three very nice rooms and we bedded down for the night. In the morning we ate at the temporary hotel then spent the morning by their pool which was excellent. Everything was so nice, in fact, that I enquired at their reception about staying there instead. It was a different hotel group, however, so this was not possible... which was just as well because...
When we finally checked in to Hotel America at just after mid-day, we were given three rooms very close to one another on the fourth floor with AMAZING views. The rooms were spacious, clean and cool from the air conditioning. We then went straight to lunch and then on to the pool - which was fairly busy but not overly so. Had a great afternoon until we went on to the beach and in to the sea - when the great afternoon turned in to a fantastic afternoon - the sea is just stunning! There are lots of little caves and inlets all around the bay, one of which is under a central outcrop separating the two small beaches - and this cave is brilliant - it goes quite a way in and at the end is a small underground beach! Really!
Evening meal was great too, though the entertainment - being aimed at many nationalities - wasn't overly enthralling.
I could go on and on, enthusing about the hotel and you'll get tired of me repeating myself and I'll soon run out of 'happy' words... so here's the essence of it:
The hotel is very clean, very well presented. The rooms are great with wonderful views. The food is excellent with many options available. The All-Inclusive nature of the hotel is very well run - the bars are extremely efficient and there's ALWAYS food to be had somewhere, right up until midnight. You will NOT go hungry! Oh, there's a BBQ run outside in parallel to the restaurant at dinner - you can eat at one or the other - or both!
But best of all, the staff always did their utmost to help; whenever we needed something they were there. No grimaces, no uncomfortable moments - they were consumate professionals and they should be very proud of their hotel.
I have NEVER returned to a hotel for a second holiday - mostly because I like the discovery of a new resort - but I'm certain I will return to the Hotel America simply because it ticked ALL the boxes for a great holiday and it's going to be very difficult to top. I recommend this to any families looking for a great holiday in the sun!

I'm just back from a great week staying at the hotel America in Calas de Mallorca. The hotel has stunning views right across the bay and every room in the hotel has a sea view.We were all inclusive and were very pleased with the food and drink served in the hotel. It was buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a good selection to choose from.Lunch and dinner had a kids section with chicken nuggets, fish fingers etc.The pool bar was open from 10am till 6pm and you could have toasties, hamburgers, hotdogs, chips or salads whenever you wanted. Also there was a pizza restaurant that served frshly made pizza every day open from 12pm till 12 am.Every night in the garden area there was a barbecue with the usual kebabs, burgers and chicken on offer. The entertainment was of good standard too, with plenty to do for both kids and adults alike. The animation team are funny and great with the kids. There was a show on evary night at the hotel outside on the stage and some of the shows were really good. The hotel was very clean and well organised. All in all this was an excellent hotel to visit for the money paid and i would definetly go back again.

Arrived back from holiday yesterday...

Arrived back from holiday yesterday and can honestly say did not want to be back in England. Callas de Mallorca is very nice. The sea is warm and crystal clear. The beach we went to (which is just down some steps from the hotel Americas where we stayed) is a lovely little cove with golden sand - very nice. The hotel is clean and friendly. The food is very nice, varied and plentiful. The pools are clean and a nice size, although we didn't use it that much as we prefered to go to the beach. The beach is near enough to the hotel to pop back for food and drink as and when it is wanted and we felt comfortable letting our two boys (12 & 8) go back to the hotel together for food and drinks without us because it was so near. Our room was a nice size as was the bathroom in it. In the evening they had a childrens disco everynight and then some other entertainment afterwards. I found the evenings a bit chilly as there is always a breeze that seems to blow, which is lovely throught the day, but, I found I needed a cardi in the evenings. All in all, I would say this is a very nice hotel in a nice location for families. I think it is good value for money and I would definitley go back and I think if you book with the big tour operators (we went with first choice) you will have no problems with room availability. I was a bit worried myself after reading reviews about people having to go to a different hotel, but we had no problem at all when we got there. Everything we experienced was positive and we had a lovely time. Really worth a visit if you want an easy, relaxing holiday.

What a wonderfull hotel to stay in,...

What a wonderfull hotel to stay in, provided that you have a room overlooking the sea, was initally offered room 101, which is over the Disco and told its a family room. It is more like a staff quarters, bathroom terrible no balcony etc.. not a family room as friends booked one and its entirly different we booked two rooms and the poor reception was in a total mess, gave away our two rooms which fortunately we were able to get back before other party unpacked as it was a sea view.
General clening good, and it has to be due to the mess left by guest (cups and plates all over communial areas) which is cleaned up several times a day.
The food does leave a little to be desired, I did not go hungry or contract food poisoning so cant complain, it was a little bland and repetative at times.
Breakfast choice of Egg Bacon etc.. Bread and rolls with cold meats and cheese or cerials
Luch, best meal of the day, more variatey for the salads and reasonable choice of hot although in the heat its difficult to eat that much.
Dinner - most dissapointing, when the dinning room get bussiest there are not enough tables for larger groups, and they close at 9pm sharp, if you want to wash and relax after a day subbathing out of luck unless you want to eat in the pizza resturant.
Pizza resturant and Pool bar, adequate did not eat from the BBQ
Two bars, Pool bar good in the evening to watch the entertainment (well you need a drink to watch it) and the Front bar good if you just want to get away from Bingo and poor entertainment.
Beach is wonderfull, it made the holiday for us no one wanted to come home, despite being critical I did not dislike the hotel its patrons have a little to be desired as they have poor parenting skills

We have just returned from a week's...

We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Hotel America and it was fantastic. No one wanted to come home. The view is amazing, the beach is beautiful and the pools are great.
We had asked for a not too noisy room so were put in the annexe which was great. The food is fine; breakfast great, lunch and dinner fairly similar though always something to eat and there is also the cafe by the pool which does really nice burgers and chips etc plus the pizzeria which does pizza and pasta or some other bits and pieces.
Kids (5 and 3) had a great time and loved the mini disco each evening and the entertainment. Activities were sometimes a bit busy but enjoyable none the less.
Drinks were great, never really had to queue and the bar staff were polite and friendly. In fact the only complaint all week was that their servings of spirits were a bit too generous!
The sunbeds round the pool were always taken early about 8.30-9 ish if you could be bothered to go and put your towels out. There are always chairs around though so not a problem for us at all.
Beach is really close and absolutely stunning!
Calas de Mallorca is very close and pretty small. Very quiet for high season too.
All together a wonderful holiday. Highly recommended!
