Hotel America Reviews
" Great Holiday "
Submitted By: calvantsantWe were all inclusive and were very pleased with the food and drink served in the hotel. It was buffet style for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a good selection to choose from.
The hotel was very clean and well organised. All in all this was an excellent hotel to visit. we would definitely go back again.
Advice: lovely little resort with some stunning views
Activities: Hotel America definatley recommended
Good for: Beach
" quiet and relaxing "
Submitted By: bigdebAll rooms have sea view - beautiful.
Hotel very clean and bedrooms and bathrooms nice and those we were in were not shabby or needing decoration.
All day snack and drinks arrangements were adequate - toasties, burgers and pizzas, soft drinks and beer.
2 swimming pools of medium size didn't seem to be chock a block but poolside was and all sunbeds were used. We witnessed starters orders for towels on beds at 5.30 in the morning!
There was however a couple of other terraces with beds which were much quieter.
The meals in the restaurant were ok - usual stuff for all inclusive catering for French, German, Spanish and British. I say ok but not great and we have had better elsewhere.
Evening entertainment no better than average.
Purpose built resort is very quiet with what looked like a few other hotels and more apartments. Small commercial centre with bars (including sat tv for sports etc) and shops selling usual tat.
Great place for relaxing time if that's all you want to do.

" An absolutely wonderful hotel "
Submitted By: badmanjWhen we arrived, just after midnight, we were told there was no room for us. We were understandably upset but there was nothing that could be done about that. The hotel called a taxi to take us to an alternative hotel for the night. This turned out to be about 150 yards up the road - so no taxi was really necessary! We checked in to this other hotel quickly (which was also All Inclusive), was given three very nice rooms and we bedded down for the night. In the morning we ate at the temporary hotel then spent the morning by their pool which was excellent. Everything was so nice, in fact, that I enquired at their reception about staying there instead. It was a different hotel group, however, so this was not possible... which was just as well because...
When we finally checked in to Hotel America at just after mid-day, we were given three rooms very close to one another on the fourth floor with AMAZING views. The rooms were spacious, clean and cool from the air conditioning. We then went straight to lunch and then on to the pool - which was fairly busy but not overly so. Had a great afternoon until we went on to the beach and in to the sea - when the great afternoon turned in to a fantastic afternoon - the sea is just stunning! There are lots of little caves and inlets all around the bay, one of which is under a central outcrop separating the two small beaches - and this cave is brilliant - it goes quite a way in and at the end is a small underground beach! Really!
Evening meal was great too, though the entertainment - being aimed at many nationalities - wasn't overly enthralling.
I could go on and on, enthusing about the hotel and you'll get tired of me repeating myself and I'll soon run out of 'happy' words... so here's the essence of it:
The hotel is very clean, very well presented. The rooms are great with wonderful views. The food is excellent with many options available. The All-Inclusive nature of the hotel is very well run - the bars are extremely efficient and there's ALWAYS food to be had somewhere, right up until midnight. You will NOT go hungry! Oh, there's a BBQ run outside in parallel to the restaurant at dinner - you can eat at one or the other - or both!
But best of all, the staff always did their utmost to help; whenever we needed something they were there. No grimaces, no uncomfortable moments - they were consumate professionals and they should be very proud of their hotel.
I have NEVER returned to a hotel for a second holiday - mostly because I like the discovery of a new resort - but I'm certain I will return to the Hotel America simply because it ticked ALL the boxes for a great holiday and it's going to be very difficult to top. I recommend this to any families looking for a great holiday in the sun!
Advice: The resort itself is small and self-contained - you should definitely go all-inclusive there.
Activities: Walk along the coastal walkway, through the Sol Hotel to get to another beach - great snorkellng!

Submitted By: Mrs N PATEY" What a wonderfull hotel to stay in,... "
Submitted By: Mr M KleinGeneral clening good, and it has to be due to the mess left by guest (cups and plates all over communial areas) which is cleaned up several times a day.
The food does leave a little to be desired, I did not go hungry or contract food poisoning so cant complain, it was a little bland and repetative at times.
Breakfast choice of Egg Bacon etc.. Bread and rolls with cold meats and cheese or cerials
Luch, best meal of the day, more variatey for the salads and reasonable choice of hot although in the heat its difficult to eat that much.
Dinner - most dissapointing, when the dinning room get bussiest there are not enough tables for larger groups, and they close at 9pm sharp, if you want to wash and relax after a day subbathing out of luck unless you want to eat in the pizza resturant.
Pizza resturant and Pool bar, adequate did not eat from the BBQ
Two bars, Pool bar good in the evening to watch the entertainment (well you need a drink to watch it) and the Front bar good if you just want to get away from Bingo and poor entertainment.
Beach is wonderfull, it made the holiday for us no one wanted to come home, despite being critical I did not dislike the hotel its patrons have a little to be desired as they have poor parenting skills

Submitted By: Miss K WatersWe had asked for a not too noisy room so were put in the annexe which was great. The food is fine; breakfast great, lunch and dinner fairly similar though always something to eat and there is also the cafe by the pool which does really nice burgers and chips etc plus the pizzeria which does pizza and pasta or some other bits and pieces.
Kids (5 and 3) had a great time and loved the mini disco each evening and the entertainment. Activities were sometimes a bit busy but enjoyable none the less.
Drinks were great, never really had to queue and the bar staff were polite and friendly. In fact the only complaint all week was that their servings of spirits were a bit too generous!
The sunbeds round the pool were always taken early about 8.30-9 ish if you could be bothered to go and put your towels out. There are always chairs around though so not a problem for us at all.
Beach is really close and absolutely stunning!
Calas de Mallorca is very close and pretty small. Very quiet for high season too.
All together a wonderful holiday. Highly recommended!

Submitted By: Mr J HickinbothamNow the bad points... (Hope you have time reading this!)
The food.... Except for the first day (Tuesday 24th June 2008) the food was terrible. basically the same every day for adults and children, it was either luke warm, or some of the food (mainly chicken & burgers) in the main restaruant was under cooked - pink inside. the rest of it by looking at it looked like something that the dog chucked up the day before and I am not JOKING!!! In the main restraunt it seemed that the waiter could not wait to get rid of you what I mean is that they are always hovering over your table and as soon as you finished your dinner and even before you had the chance to put your knife and fork they take away your plate and then only afterwards they say "FINISHED" in their Spanish tone of voice and also [--] when they drop something yes that's right we heard a waiter say [--] also in their spanish tone of voice (which was very funny - added to the entertainment). On two occations there has been a foreign body in the food a fly in the scrambeled egg and on the last night the potatoes were not chopped properly as it still had its roots left on it. The food in the pool cafe was pretty good but don't eat in the pizzaria as, well I put it this way we had a wobbly table outside and the pizza kept it straight yes thats right the pizza was that hard you could use it as a spare wheel for the car!
The Room... The room was pokey for a "family room", the air conditioning did not work either properly or not at all plus we all kept getting bit by something for which I will have got to go to the doctors with as the bite is not in a plesant place for a man should I say! one of the beds kept breaking (even after being changed) but I must say the veiw was brilliant.
Poolside... Now here is something that has not changed! Still have to be down at the crack of dawn to get a place near the pool, people coming down and placing their towels (I even seen one some one at 5.45am putting towels down. Kids now cannot have inflatables in the pool (did last year). also something that bothers me was that there was no ash trays anywhere.
I could carry on but im am just [--] off with this place I DO NOT RECOMMENED THIS PLACE AT ALL I ONLY GAVE IT A RATING OF 3 CAUSE I FEEL SO SO SORRY FOR THE PLACE.

Submitted By: Ms M PaddonMy partner and I specifically booked this hotel because we had stayed here before 14 years ago and got engaged here plus the reviews were excellent so were really looking forward to it - when we arrived we were told that there were no rooms available (even though others were able to get rooms as they booked with one of the major operators). We were told that we could still use the facilities at this hotel as well as the one we ended up in (Eurocalas) and we were put in a taxi. The only trouble was the Eurocalas is a good 10 minute walk away and as I suffer from osteoarthritis in my knees, its not such a good idea although we did use the facilities when we hired a car for a few days. The food, although good in quality didn't seem as good as the Eurocalas and the sunbeds were non-existent when we did go to the America. Also there seems to be only wine, beer or water and juices available at lunch and dinner - we couldn't find any other soft drinks at all and we didn't always feel like alcohol - especially as my partner was driving and couldn't drink anyway.
Overall, we were disappointed to find we couldn't stay at our chosen hotel but found the alternative better in space and quality of food, especially as there were at least 2 chefs cooking fresh food at each meal time and the dining room was much larger than at the America.

FOOD NOT BAD BUT GOT BORING BY END OF WEEK
ALL INCULSIVE ACHOHOL EXTREMMLY WEAK ? WATERED DOWN
CLEANLINESS NOT BAD POOL AREA CLEANED MORNING & NIGHT - BUT THEIR WAS A COTTON BUDDY ON THE FLOOR IN THE ROOM ALL WEEK AND IT WASN'T MINE
THE ROOM VERY VERY VERY SMALL HAD TO TURN SIDEWAYS TO WALK PAST THE END OF THE BED & TV
BATHROOM TINY - SHOWER OVER HALF SIZED BATH - SHOWER CURTAIN RAIL HELD UP BY PLUG CHAIN
THE WORST PART WAS THE NOISE NOT ONLY COULD YOU HEAR NEXT DOORS CONVERSATIONS ect..........BUT DUE TO A VENTILATION SHAFT IN THE BATHROOM YOU COULD HEAR EVERYONE ABOVE & BELOW YOU - THE ENTERTAINMENT WAS EVERY NIGHT OUTSIDE IN THE POOL AREA THE NOISE WAS UNBEARABLE UNTIL WELL AFTER MIDNIGHT AS MOST ROOMS OVERLOOK THE POOL AREA - NO CHANCE OF AN EARLY RELAXING NIGHT
I WAS TOLD THE RESORT WAS A NICE QUITE RESORT RELAXING BUT EVEN LAID ON THE BEACH DURING THE DAY THE NOISE FROM THE HOTEL ENTERTAINMENT TEAM WAS OVER POWERING
THE RESORT WAS MODERN TAYLOR MADE FOR TOURISTS, BEACH LOVELY, SHOPS OK,
BARS & RESTURANTS PLENTIFUL
I WOULD ADVISE CAR HIRE -A TRIP TO THE PIRATE SHOW & THE GLASS BOTTOM BOAT
AT THE HOTEL THE STAFFS ENGLISH IS VERY LIMITED IT HAS TOTALLY PUT ME OFF ALL INCLUSIVE I THINK FOR THE ALL INCLUSIVE OPTION YOU DO SACRIFICE GOOD SERVICE & QUALITY

We then decided to have a drink, and looked round...This in itself was a No No..Our first impressions of screaming kids, crying babies and then finding crappy nappies around the pool area, was disgusting!! Left over food remains all over the floor, beer glasses, fag ends..OMG What had we come to?? We never got to see the rooms, Thank heavens, as we were expectin cockroaches as permanant tenants!! I then demanded we get moved that day, and we were transferred with an upgrade to a proper 4star hotel in Cala Millor..where we had a great time !! If you like a proper 4 star then DONT GO TO THIS HOTEL!! You will regret it..We have since heard there are loads who feel as we do..
