We had our room from about 4pm as they hadn't cleaned it yet when we arrived at 2pm. The air con would only work when we paid for it (70 euros for our 4 night stay!!!)
They took a deposit of 240 euros when we checked in and we did not get this back because we checked out early as our room was burgled(!!) they didn't want to know and the rude young girl on reception finally admitted this happens a lot. It seemed strange as the person who robbed our room MUST have had a key so I think it could have been one of the staff.
Best advice - avoid this awful place & also any other Zeus Apartments property as they don't give a damn about guests.
- Advice: Avoid the Mariposa, try the Playa Park up the road, much more helpful staff & nice rooms.

Booked with Hotels.com.
The confirmation email advised we would need to pay the total balance upon checking out (unusual as I normally have to pay in full on booking with Hotels.com.
When we arrived, the apartment was not ready so we had to wait until 6pm (approx 4 hours) so we went out for a meal & a few drinks while we waited.
On checking in, we were told we had to pay the full balance immediately, plus a cash 'deposit' of 150 Euros which MAY be refunded when we checked out. I reluctantly paid this, having been told we would need to pay upon checking out, and no deposit was mentioned.
We got to the room to find the air conditioning did not work, it was so hot in the room that we had to get out fairly quickly. Having spoken to reception, they then decided to tell us it would cost a further 50 Euros to activate the air conditioning!
It was really noisy most of the night but when other people came home from their nights out it was horrendous and they were banging on doors and ringing the door buzzers constantly. It was terrifying when someone tried to knock a neighbours door down at 3am.
Avoid this place if you don't want to be ripped off or lose sleep every night.

So i got back from Salou (Mariposa Apartments) just over a week ago with two other friends all aged 18, and after reading reviews, i was honestly dreading it, but at the price me and my friends paid, we didn't expect anything luxurious! If you are planning to book here and you have young children, i would seriously reconsider, Salou is definately NOT for young people, Portaventura is probably your best bet. Mariposa Apartments are definately the worst for young children, no entertainment, pool is very very basic (and deep) oh and the stupid rule of "No floats" was soon to be broken, the area is very loud, if your on the end apartment like us you can hear the main road very early in the morning! The only bad thing really i can say about this hotel is; it looks like a prison! but as soon as you're in your room it's fine and the reception is so poorly run we gave up and just went to the International over the road! We were actually shouted at by the woman in reception as it was 10 minutes after closing time and she wanted to go home! Apartment was very clean and maid came twice over one week but changed sheets, towels, cleaned bathroom and cleaned floor. 1 loo roll is no big deal as the apartments are above a spar which sells everything, also if you want your air con on you just need to ask at reception and someone brings a remote to your room.
Beach is nice but busy and sand is sooo hot you have to run to the sea. The pool in the hotel was realllly nice, you were guaranteed a sunbed as it was so quiet, pool was a nice temperature so no complaints there.
Nightlife is absolutely brilliant. You get a free shots everywhere you go and its so cheap and great deals. Kiss, Snooepys, 007, Bus Stop are all really good, Christy's and Charlie Chaplins - Well what can i say! absolutely brilliant bars! The bar staff are great and keep you entertained all night! Tropical Salou, Two Much and Jimmy's are also really good for cocktails! There are so many places to eat here as well whether its proper dinner or takeaway - there is plenty!! Sinatras across the road from Mariposa is awesome and also does some entertainment!
However if you're coming back in the early hours, go careful! We made the mistake, 3 girls walking back from the main strip on our own, and actually witnessed someone getting mugged. If anyone in the early hours tries speaking to you just avoid them and run!
Overall great holiday, Probably going back next year!

After reading the reviews, on sites such as this, after booking to stay at the Mariposas Apartments i was dreading my holiday. However upon arrival i was surprisingly pleased with these apartments.
The location is great, so close to all the souvenir shops and only a 5-10 minute walk depending on which beach you go to, with around 30 clubs and bars within a short walking distance.
A lot of people complained about the noise at night in these apartments and this is something i tended to agree on, however this is no fault of the apartment staff as it is mainly due to the location and nature of Salou as an area. Therefore i would recommend taking ear plugs as this is what i did and therefore slept well after the first night!
The cleanliness of these apartments upon arrival were great, although one problem that i couldn’t shake despite mopping is the floor, no matter how hard i tried each night i had black feet! Therefore wearing flip flops in the apartment is a must.
I only stayed in these apartments for a week and only had one maid visit the whole week and even then she only changed the towels and made the beds, the bath was left dirty as well as the floor.
The pool is great, warm to swim in and always quiet, however if it is not to your taste you can use the pool and the international 2 hotel opposite.
Safety deposit boxes are available in the international 2 hotel as well, which are only 3 euros a day which is great for peace of mind, knowing your passport etc is safe.
You do have to leave a 110 euro deposit upon arrival, which to me seemed pointless considering the fact they gave me mine back without checking my room for breakages, however you should bare this is mind when saving for spending money.
The comedy club, left from the entrance to the apartments, is a lovely place to eat and drink. The main man working there John is great, and drew all over a map for us on our first day to help us along, the food is a great price and quality as well.
Be careful with drink prices along the sea front, as a place called Lunatics charged me 4.50 euros, for an orange juice!!
All aside, i think these apartments are great for the price you pay, safe and ran by lovely staff. The 24 hour reception at the international 2 hotel gives you extra piece of mind as well. There is plenty to do in this area, and lots of great bars and restaurants.
Overall enjoy your holiday and focus on the good reviews not the bad as i did!

Me and my boyfriend travelled to Salou in July 08 and stayed in the Mariposa App. What I will say is that we had a fab time! On first impressions, we didnt expect much as it was nothing brilliant to look at, but the inside of our appartment made up for that! there was PLENTY of space for the two of us and we had everything we could need. we had hairdryer, ironing board, a little fitted kitchen (which looks as good as my one back home!) a bedroom and two dining tables! one in the living area and one on the (big) balcony. honestly the flat was kept spotless! the week we went, we had maid service every second day and at one point she came three days in a row!!
the only drawback is the pool which is that its quite often in the shade!! i, being a sun worshipper hated this! but we found an excellent solarium up on the roof of the hotel that is opened from really early in the morning till night. there is sun loungers up there and even showers etc. i dont think this was ever common knowledge cause no one was ever up there and the only time i can recall it being 'busy' was when 4 other people were there!
brilliant location, excellent value for money! would deff go back!

Despite the transfer taking longer than the flight from Birmingham! We were greeted with a forced smile from the receptionist who did not look happy to be there!!!!!
The deposit of 60 euros went down like a lead balloon, but the room was clean although the patio door looked like it was falling off, but it was fixed fairly quickly.
The one toilet roll rule was quite exciting!!! Ecspecially after a night out.....
The pool.... well, it was filthy, cold, in the shade and we ended up finding a better one across the road at the International II where we ended up spending most of our time there.
The second receptionist that we met was interesting... she told us about her secret affairs, drug using and sordid period tampon use! However the 19th hole RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!! With a big thank you to our adopted mother Karen!!!
Not forgetting the flooding, although it was from the rain which couldnt be helped, we did wonder why our corrider was flooded as we were on the third floor!!
All together highly entertaining and will not be forgotten for a while!

After reading the previous reviews about these apartments, I was pretty apprehensive about them. All I can say is they are wrong!! They were spacious, clean and in perfect location. Our flight was delayed 6 hours so the reception was closed when we got there but there was a night porter there to let us in to our rooms. You do have to pay a deposit and judging by what other reviews are saying, this must vary. We had to pay £45 or 60 euros. You get this back at the end of your stay. The receptionists were all very friendly. There was maid service every second day, and our sheets were changed twice during our week long stay. The apartments do have air conditioning. You need to ask at reception for this and it is free of charge. The pool is basic. No bar which is probably the only downside of these apartments but you are able to use the facilities at the International hotel across the road.
The 19th hole was one of our fave bars, situated under the apartments. Great food and friendly service. Lovely beach just 5 mins away and shops etc also a 5 min walk. Waterpark at La Pineda is a must. My daughter never out the water!!
A great holiday and couldnt fault it all! Dont listen to the bad reviews.

just arrived home from this hotel and how i wish i had took note of the bad reviews.first impression was the lack of a lobby, more an after thought in design with glass doored room.hotel room was okay for size, floor was filthy did not dare to walk barefoot.had to buy bleach to clean mop before mopping floors.bath dirty and worn, shower curtain disgusting, toilet dirty, cups and plates needed bleached.never seen a maid yet.had to wash towels ourselves, one toilet roll,no iron, ironing board or microwave which we were supposed to have.we new there was no air-con but heat was unbearable.pool was not as bad as some other reviews said.it was warm and clean and 9 foot at deep end, never had a problem getting loungers at any time of day.on the plus side is the location of this hotel.everything on doorstep, small beach 5 mins walk, full fridge/freezer is the only real plus of hotel room.have been to salou before in 2004 and would go again but not this hotel.ALSO BE AWARE OF YOUR TEENAGERS BEING APPROACHED IN STREET TO BUY HASH,WACKY BACKY ETC. MY 15 YEAR OLD SON WAS............. this is the first time i have complained or felt the need to complain about any accomadation.

i read the reviews on here and just as any other apartments as there bad review but i should have listened as these apartments was bad very noisy it was like a spanish prison cap they was rioting every night and also same as the review of bexs we was the same got burgaled and every thing taken but there was no damage to the doors and all of our belongings was taken all of our money and we had 2 children as we reported this to the reseptionist she was very unhelpful and we had to sort it out going to the police station our selfs they didnt adv on the safes and when we was burgaled they offered us 1 free of charge but had nothing to put in it but we was with a party and they was all burgaled as well but there was no damage and it looked like they had let them selfs in with a key
hotel the staff are very unhelpful and the apartment floors was dirty and it stunk of sewrage in the bathroom
just for a tip to anyone who thinks about going to this apartment make sure your not put on the 3rd floor as you may be a target to these crimes and make sure you ask for a safe as they dont advise you about them
