Mariposa Apartments

I have given these apartments 1 out of 10, as there is nothing lower. In over 20 years of travelling abroad to numerous countries these apartments rate the lowest.
1, location on a busy one way street, with late disco bars merely a stone throw away with frequent groups of young male and female (drunk) passing by your apts loud and banging on perspex bus shelter approx 30 m from your bedroom at 5 am in the morning preventing a good nights sleep.
2, no air conditioning, apt never cleaned, 2 towel changes, 1 linen change, no wardrobe space, balcony overlooking the tin roofs of bar and shops below which was littered with waste food, bottles etc.
3, a dawn chorus of car horns being sounded by frustrated drivers stuck behind buses and bin lorries
4, a filthy pool in which I suffered a severe ear infection and only now recovering from after 2 weeks of antibiotics, the list is endless.
If you are committed to your holiday at this dump, on arrival I would strongly advise you to sign for and retain until your departure a list of the items which your deposit covers as they try to pick up on the slightest shortfall and most of the time the item or breakage referred to had occurred prior to your arrival. Also while we were there 3 apts were broken into 1 youth Spanish was caught and rumour had it a cleaner never returned to her work; you have been warned??

Having stayed in Salou, before I booked the Mariposa as description sounded good.
When we arrived, it was totally opposite of clean rooms. We were given a room, which had mosquitoes all over the ceiling and dirty kitchen utensils. We could not go on balcony as was a tin roof adjoining it from bar beneath.
Floor, which was covered in cigarette stubs and rotten fruit and other rubbish, which the mosquitoes were emerging from. The bites got that bad had to move to higher floor to cut humidity level, which was better.
I have never been to such a grotty hotel ever before. Bed linen never changed once only clean towels.
I couldn’t ask at reception as was on a lot of day trips and reception was always closed after 8pm which was hard to get access to safety deposit box as was in locked reception.
Pool had no bar, no entertainment like a sewer the drainage channel never cleaned.
Would go to Salou again but never ever to this dump.

The apartment itself was fine, clean and had all the things you need, kitchen equipment, 2 fans, spare bedding etc and was cleaned 3 times a week, but the noise was something else.
We were on the 7th (top) floor and the noise was still awful, right underneath you are bars and restaurants, the shape of the apartments act like some sort of echo chamber and somebody just walking down the street past the place sound like a herd of hippos!!! With people coming and going at all hours and having a doorbell to each apartment out on the street it got a bit annoying when drunk people would ring your bell at all hours.
The reception was ok, but it shut often, it was open 9am until 1pm then reopened at 4 pm and closed at 9pm and your safety deposit box was in there, so you were limited as to when you could get your money and stuff out. We were also asked for an £80 deposit against breakages plus a deposit for the safety deposit so £100 was tied up as soon as we arrived.
I would certainly go back to Salou, but not to these apartments, we used the Salou Pacific hotel opposite us for most of the holiday and would stay there next time if we go back.

Apartment was basic but clean enough. Surely not legal as no smoke detector, although we were awoken twice each night for first 4 nights by fire alarm in building. No staff on site after 9pm, so not switched off for about an hour each time. This was fixed after police were called in following no action after holidaymaker’s complaints. Rep was snowed under by numerous complaints and did not pass on vital info such as where welcome meeting had been moved to (after we had trailed through torrential rain to original location) and warning us that the damage deposit had been increased to 110 euros from 70, thus using up a lot of money intended to cover first day’s food etc., to be paid on arrival before room key would be handed to us. Bus returning us to the airport was 40 mins late, but hi light of holiday was Kathy, our guide on the Barcelona trip. If Aspro was entirely staffed by people like her I would not hesitate to book again. As it stands though we will not be using Aspro or visiting Mariposa apartments or recommending either to friends.

We have just returned from Salou we stayed at the Mariposa apartments which were classed as 3 star on arrival we were left to our own devices by the Airtours rep we could not find reception as it was a small information booth went up to our apartment which was filthy on arrival with a broken sink toilet and shower no air conditioning we hired a fan for 22 euros which also did not work properly went down to the pool via a fire escape the pool was filthy no chlorine and one hole in the ground for a toilet again filthy the noise at night was terrible from drunken Dutch and German 18 to 30 marching all night we were also in the middle of bar and disco land we were sold this holiday as a quiet family holiday by Lunn Poly so we went ahead and booked as we had never been to the Costa Dorada before we are now claiming compensation this is not a family destination in my opinion we also got ear infections from the pool and the life guard was only there from 12 noon to 6pm the pool was open from 9am till 9pm it was also very deep and never cleaned
