great position but
from janetdono
great position and lovely pool area overlooking the sea front with free sun beds and parasols. /the down side was the food which was not what I would call varied and only luke warm most of the time especially as you had to queue behind those wanting salad before you could get any thing hot! The rooms were ok but found it quite hard getting in and out of bath because shower screen was a permanent fixture over half of the bath. The evening entertainment was very poor and I felt embaressed at times watching it. The staff were all however very pleasant. This hotel has I found out when I got there, been taken over by some consortium called Best, but the name certainly doesnt match the site. Spoke to people who had been coming here for many years and all said they wont be back so that says it all i think.
Can't Get Enough Of This Hotel
from jayargee
Visited in August 2003 with grandchildren and June 2004 on our own. There was plenty for the kids and adults to do. The rooms and facilities were excellent as were the staff. The location is superb looking right onto the beach. Easy access to Cambrils town centre and Salou via public transport. (Bus stop right outside the hotel). We were particularly impressed by the seating organisation in the buffet/restaurant overseen by a very friendly restaurant manager who we got to know well. We have had no hesitation in booking again to go this year 2008 in June.
loved it

Perfect location

We spent a week in this hotel from 16 till 22 September. I choosed Maritim Princess after reading all reviews on tripadvisor. The location of the hotel was the best I saw in Salou and Cambrils while we transfer all tourists from our plane to their hotels. Maybe there are better equiped hotels inside and with bigger pool but only Maritim Princess, Centurion and August are separated from the sea just by foot -path. The rest hotels are either long walk from the beach or there's a busy road between hotel and the sea. Maritim Princess is located near private holiday houses in quiet place, no noisy discoes, no bars, just hotel, beach and the sea. Also there's a busy road from the other side of hotel, but having the room that looks on the piece of this road we didn't find it so noisy. Anyway we also could see a piece of the sea from our balcony. Rooms are cozy and clean. The only thing we didnt like was that they gave us two beds instead of one, for a young couple on the second week of their honeymoon it was really a problem... Sea was just a minute walk from the pool and you can enjoy its view during breakfast or dinner in the hotel. I don't know why somebody wrote that it took too much to get to Salou from Maritim Princess. Actually after 15 minutes walking along the beach we realized that we were near fountains in Salou quay.... So there's no problem to get to the shops and bars at all. Cambrils stays a little far away, we walked there only once, it took us about 30 minutes. The rest of times we get there by bus that comes every 10 minutes to our Maritim station. Also the best way to get there was to rent a bike. We found Cambrils much more beautiful and romantic than Salou and also its fish restaurants were the best. Anyway I enjoyed dinners in Maritim Princess too ( breakfasts were too early for us, cause they were only till 10,15 while we woke up about 11.30:) For me dinners were perfect because i prefer healthy food and don;t like meat, bread, pasta and fat dishes. So I found lots of vegetarian food and fish and many fruits every day. My husband enjoys his meat dishes too. We found it's strange that we couldn't buy tea or coffee for a dinner - just drinks and vine. The weather in the mid of September was warm and sunny, but after 19th September it became cloudy and windy. Anyway sea was still warm and I swim there every day. But I would recomend people who likes to sunbathe and swim in the sea to come there only on first two weeks of September.
Average 3 star Spanish hotel in good location
from familyman100
Rooms good & clean (some may be a bit noisy). Generally quiet but on a busy road and nearby railway. Great beach right by hotel. Well kept fresh water pool - could be a bit bigger. Plenty of sun loungers. Very close to bus stops with very frequent buses. Not many shops, etc nearby but basics are OK (two mini supermarkets close). Food in restaurant is average but kids were happy. Add-ons (fridge, safe) very expensive. Evening "entertainment" not very good and could be very noisy. Reception staff a bit surly but helpful when needed. Lots of nationalities stayed there (French, Spanish, Russian, Danish, etc).

This hotel was out of the world the most spectacular hotel i have ever stayed in the beach is a stone throw away seriously could not belive how clean it was the staff very helpful and understanding . Alot to do for the children in the pool every saturday and Sunday they have these men and women come and set up these aqua climbing frames in the pool and its great for 5 euros entertains the kids all day long.. we went in 2006 Summer and watched one of the most spectacular firework shows in our lifetime there is one downside to it your rep (Probaly Thompson) will tell you about a illusion show taking place when you get there you will find the food is cold and disgusting and very cruel to animals and beware is NON - REFUNDABLE the entertainment in the hotel was about 6/10 for me but for 7 n under i would give it a 10/10 it is rated 3 star but probaly should be 4 star hotel. It has a arcade room there and the computers for the kids to go on and you if your into them. They do everyday a variety of activites for children and adults ( Pool tournament / shooting / ice hockey machine contest and many more. The Pool is very clean and has a pool bar built to the side of it. Carnt say much about the Food because am not into hotel food so never eat there.. Overall i would give it a 9/10 P.s Going to Gran Bali Hotel In 3 Days will submit reviews about that in A month or so..
Should be better than 3 star

We went to the maritim princess on the 31st July and just come back today, we would say it was a very good hotel in a very good location. The hotel is very good for families as it is very busy. We went as a family of 4 and we had 1 room which normally would have fit 2 beds in but they brung 2 put up beds in so it was a bit small. The food is very good and well cooked but there is not much variety for young children. The staff are very polite and try their hardest to help you. The swimming pool is very clean and very safe. Outside the hotel is the beach which is very clean and very well looked after but it's very hot! The entertainment is very good but their english is quite hard to understand but they do try. The cleaners do an excellent job as the hotel is spotless. We went to aquapolis and would recommend it but there is not many rides for young children. We will return next year and would recomment it to anyone.
Lot better than expected

Have just returned from the above hotel and having read some of the reviews was a bit dubious about going there but it was fine. Rooms and grounds were clean. Had asked for a ground floor room as my husband is disabled and we got just what we asked for couldn't have been better. with the area being flat and the close proximity of the sea it was ideal for us. We have 16 year old twin sons, who found enough to do they enjoyed the pool and being in the sea and also the pool table. We hired bikes from across the road and enjoyed cycling along the sea front. Went to Portaventura but must admit having been to the parks in Florida did feel it was missing something, but that was just our thoughts. The boys enjoyed Aquapolis water park but beware of the 'extras' there like the hire cost of the rings for some of the slides and the cost of mini golf on top of the entry fee. Salou was a ok but typically touristy the promenade was lovely to walk along. Cambrils seemed a bit more up market and it was good to look round the fishing port. Food at the hotel was not brilliant but adequate considering how many people and different nationalities they cater for. We went to Queens for a few good solid English meals, maybe not the point of going on holiday but we enjoyed it. The restaurant in the hotel was orderly and plenty of staff to look after you. All in all a good experience and I would recommend it for a family beach holiday
Great holiday

Stayed here for two weeks at the beginning of July and found the hotel good value for money, very clean and most of the staff very helpful - almost all of whom could speak/understand basic English; certainly better than we could speak/understand Spanish. I never understand those people that go abroad and expect staff to speak perfect English when they make no effort to speak a few words of Spanish. We tried with the staff in the hotel and I can assure you it makes a big difference. Room was adequate and very clean - TV with Sky News/CNN/Eurosport tho why would you want to watch TV when it is 30 degrees outside? Room cleaned EVERY day with bedding changed twice a week - tho we asked one day to get it changed again (due to juice spill) and it was done without any bother. Most rooms overlook swimming pool but there could be a chance you overlook lane at side or front of hotel - I could imagine that the front facing rooms may be a bit noisy later at night due to traffic. Balconies comfortably sat 4 so don't know what room previous reviewer had. The dining room was not a free for all - at breakfast and dinner you queued and were shown to a table by the head waiter. As soon as you sat down you were offered a drink - then you could go up and choose from the buffet. There was a choice of 6 main courses, plus a salad bar, plus a special each night (eg paella), plus a pasta and chinese cook as you wait section. You chose what ingredients you wanted and they cook it for you there and then. Plenty of choice though if you are looking for fish fingers, burgers, roast beef and yorkshire pudding or chicken nuggets you will be disappointed. Our kids were 12 and 16 and they always found something they liked. Yes, there was a couple of fish dishes every night but seeing as Cambrils is famous in Spain for its' seafood it is worth trying! Best part of the hotel was that it is right next to the beach; about 20 steps from the swimming pool! The beach was excellent and cleaned every night - apart from a layer of shale just on the waters edge, once you are in the water it is soft sand. Though it can be a bit choppy when the wind is up. The promenade and cycle path between the hotel and beach runs from Salou right thru to Cambrils port. Hire bikes at the shop across the road (40 yards) and take a trip into Cambrils (check out the yachts and the rich and famous cruising along the promenade) - some fantastic seafood restaurants as well. Salou is more lively and Blackpool like in places tho the promenade is fantastic for a stroll at night when the fountains are on. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel so you can easily get to Salou/Cambrils/La Pineda/Port Aventura. A tip - if you have missed the bus or there is a big queue, ask reception to order a taxi. It comes in a couple of minutes and took us to Port Aventura in 10 mins at little more than the cost of 4 fares on the bus. Also there is the Queens pub just along the road that serves great food if you want a break from the hotel. Tennis/pool/boules/gym/table tennis/internet/games machines all available. Anyone wanting tips on Port Aventura, trips to Barcelona or water parks, just get in touch. Don't let previous review put you off - I think you will see from the other reviewers that the hotel is better than most. We certainly would recommend it. One final thought; when we were there, there were Spanish, Russians, Germans, Poles, Dutch. English, Irish, Welsh, Scots, Ukranians, Italians and French - surely the hotel DOES cater for the international tourist.
'Dont Go Here'
from tonks007
The hotel does not, repeat not, cater for international tourists. I picked this hotel for me, my partner and 9 year old son after reading reviews on this site hoping that it had not changed from the last visitors. It clearly had in a big way!! In a nutshell, the rooms are very small and a fridge is not always available (charge). The shower was no use at all due to it being placed over a shelf built into the bath surround so you needed to sit down and wash. The beds were discusting and VERY hard, infact I actually slept on my inflatable lilo for more comfort some nights. Bed linen didnt get changed in the 2 weeks we stayed and we had to ask twice direct to the cleaners to clean the toilet and bath, which they didnt do. Couldny sit all 3 of us on the balcony due to lack of space. Meals were all the same for 2 weeks with no variation for nationality. In a hot country like Spain I didnt expect to be offered tinned fruit when the supermarket next door had really cheap fruit and every type. The meal times were like a free for all with the layout of the dining room. Entertainment was diabolical even for a 9 year old. The only thing worth staying in the grounds to watch was the jugglers once a week. Good swimming pool but only 30 umbrellas between 400 guests and could only be obtained by queing for hours in the morning and the doors closed at 10 even if you had a baby, not that there were any spares anyway. The beach/sea is loppy with channels being dug by the local council for waste water from the hotels and streets to spill directly into the sea during the night. My son took his snorkle and mask to swim in the sea but you could not even see your own feet. Nothing to do around the area at night, very few bars with a sky TV and thats about it. Salou is a short bus run away but it again was dirty and not much there. Dont go to Aqaupolis, half the slides are closed and its expensive. The whole reort is expensive with a beer averaging 2.60 euros and 1.70 for soft drinks. My advise is definately look elsewhere unless your retired Spanish or Russian.
Just back from a lovely relaxing holiday in this hotel. Will be back there again. The location is ideal , right on sea front with the promenade running outside wall and beach next to prom. The intertainment was great and varied nightly and finished by 11.30pm which was ideal... more
