a jewel of an hotel
This was probably the best hotel we have stayed in and we have travelled a lot! Everywhere was spotlessly clean, the staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis so cannot comment on the evening meals, but the breakfasts, which were served until 10.30am, were comprehensive. My husband had cornflakes, toast, bacon and freshly fried eggs, while I tried cheese, meat, croissants, fresh pineapple and melon and gallons of fresh coffee. The swimming pool was always clean, towels were provided and the loungers... more
Excellent
Stayed here for 4 nites in august 2007. I cant say enough about the hotel. Its lovely and clean, the pool is fantastic. The whole hotel area at the back is lovely, lots of grass and flowers. Its not cheap but i believe that you get what you pay for. i wanted luxury for my stay with my girlfriend and i got that. the most impressive thing about the hotel was the staff. they were all so friednly. all had a friendly "ola" in the hallway, all the front desk staff new english and couldnt do enough for you. i was very impressed and will centrainly... more
Okay - but look for something better..if you can.
Sorry - I like a little nicer hotel. I had been staying down the street at the Guadalpin and it was so much better. This hotel was old and need of a renovation. The room was old and smelled. The bathroom had showers that made my hair flat and horrible. My room looked out on the Med Sea but also bird poop and dirt. The grounds were beautifullly landscaped, but that was the best part of the hotel. The service was also good. It is really what it says, a four star hotel. For a few more dollars you could stay somewhere much better. It... more
very nice!
This hotel is really beautiful. The rooms are newly decorated, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The corridors are carpeted which cuts down on noise. Mini bar was stocked with tempting goodies. There is adequate sunbathing around the pool areas and a nice outside patio dining/bar area. The location is convenient - a minute from shops and situated practically on the beach. I am not one for complaining about food, but the 1 lunch and evening meal I did have were a bit disappointing. Breakfast was good, the usual massive buffet... more
El Fuerte Marbella - it's a fabulous experience
I have been to the El Fuerte 10 times in the last 18 months - long weekends, cheap flights great hotel. I fell in love with the place, the position, the people, the staff, the marvellous room overlooking over the sea and after arriving back after a long leisurely dinner at one of the many local restaurants there was entertainment waiting for youin the hotel - either traditional flamenco, singers or just soft music. The staff are great, obviously they are very experienced in all areas of hotel management and always make you feel as if... more
Really enjoyed our stay here.........
Just back from a weeks stay at this hotel and i must say (we stayed in the El fuerte Miramar Spa last year) it was a fantastic place to stay, so clean and the staff are first class. I booked directly with the hotel and i got them to organise a taxi pick-up from the airport (which was quite reasonable). The breakfast was very nice, large selection. You can get fresh clean towels each morning at reception for the sun loungers. The pool area is very nice and the nice trees and scrubery around makes the place very pleasant. The indoor pool... more
Fantastic hotel. wonderful loction
We arrived at the El Fuerte after an early morning flight with all my family in tow. Had 4 rooms booked but even though check in wasnt until 2pm the helpful staff on reception gave us one of the rooms so we could store our luggage and freshen up etc. We were a bit dissapointed to be told that there would be no outdoor pool for the week as it was still being renovated but after the lady on reception saw my face drop she gave us a free drink voucher(the sangria was fantastic!) We had 3 children with us who couldnt wait to get in the indoor... more
The love affair is well and truly over.
My wife and I have been going to El Fuerte for years, and are even members of their "friends" club. But we've noticed an increasingly hard-nosed attitude from the chain in recent years. First, when you book direct, they stipulate a minimum stay of 3 nights. Then they try to sell you their most expensive room, which you don't want, because " there is nothing else available." Two points here. First, there is a shortage because the hotel is being extensively altered, but they don't tell you this. Secondly, if, instead of approaching the hotel... more
A sinking ship
This hotel appears to be trying to live up to its four star status, but seems to be loosing. Fistly, we should state that we had a excellent room on a top floor water view, but with the worst mattresses we have ever slept on. No turn down service although the front desk did call on our second day to see if we were statisfied. Good nightly entertainment, an excellent health spa and a good breakfast buffet but a somewhat rude concierge (language was not an isue as we can converse in Spanish). Under renovation, the hotel is tired and not... more
Stuck in the 70's
My husband and I have just come back from a few days at this hotel and the only positive thing I can say about it is that the view from our balcony out to sea was lovely. We had lots of problems checking in and after a huge hassle, we were let into a room that was already being used by someone else! When we went back to reception to let them know they had given us a room booked out by someone else they were apologetic but a completely unacceptable mistake for a supposed 4* hotel! The hotel itself is very dated and is badly in need of... more
