I hope that this advice doesn't put anyone off going to this hotel as according to what I have been told the following is a huge problem in most of the resorts in Spain. I want to highlight and remind people about the pickpockets who are roaming the streets with flowers and... more

Booked up a late deal for 3 nights. Just myself and my wife no kids. For a place to go and relax and for the value you get you can only give it 10 out of 10 for what you pay. Room was nice and very clean better than many hotels over here. There was entertainment although we... more

relaxing
Well situated hotel, very friendly staff.Rooms comfortable and spotlessly clean.Food good and enjoyed our stay. However do not use the tobacco shop adjacent to the hotel we were ripped off when using our credit card.
Lovely Christmas!
Hotel Las Arenas is modern, superbly clean and situated right opposite the beach. We stayed for Christmas and had a lovely time. Some other reviews have mentioned the busy road, yes it is but all the plus points of this hotel and its location far outway this one negative. The staff in the restaurant and bar were efficient and friendly, the food was lovely, we stayed half board and had a good choice for breakfast and evening meal everyday, cannot really find any gripes about this hotel at all. Everything is within walking distance, the beach, bars, restaurants, shops, marina and a lovely park five minutes walk away where we spent Christmas morning along with alot of Spanish people enjoying the sunshine and having a beer. You can get a bus almost outside the door to Malaga, Torremolinos and Fuengirola and there are open top buses and Noddy trains, so if you cannot walk very well it is easy to get about. Don't miss the cable car to the top of the mountain and falconry display. This is one of the best hotels we have been to for a while and the weather was great too!
Great atmosphere
The Edens family Scotland. We went for a long weekend for a friend's 60th birthday, the staff at the hotel went out of their way to make it a special 3 nights. The food is buffet style in the restaurant at breakfast and dinner and the food was excellent. Never been away in the winter before but now we have got the bug and would consider going back to this hotel. Excellent all round hotel, really clean and welcoming.
Good standard
We stayed at Las Arenas for a week, and in general we were impressed with the standards of cleanliness, food and service. With the exception of one young female receptionist, the staff were very efficient, helpful, pleasant and polite. Our room was very clean, and maybe a wee bit small, but the bathroom was excellent. The food was very good, eat as much as you like, with plenty of choice. Only 2 gripes.........firstly the walls were not soundproof, and we were frequently woken with the sound of the good people next door doing all the things one does in the bathroom.........and secondly it was impossible to have a conversation in the dining room without involving the people on adjacent tables. The tables were just too close together, so we ended up eating out towards the end of our stay. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance. The hotel guests average age over 50, but in November you are not likely to find families holidaying. We shall return.
Loved the Hotel
Just returned from a week at Las Arenas. Hotel was excellent. Staff very courteous and could not do enough for you. room cleaned every day, clean towels every day. Different food presentations were laid out every day and were excellent. Location very good lots of bars not very far away although the entertainment at the hotel was quite good. Would certainly recommend this hotel. It was very good value. Will certainly go back. M & T Cardiff.
great value for money
Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Travelled with Globespan. Well situated on the seafront. Walk to the marina takes about 10-15 minutes. Hotel and rooms spotless, towels changed every day. Food a good variety, although some dishes were a bit bland. Great for a short break and we would definately go back.
Excellent Hotel
Me and my mum have just returned back from this brilliant hotel. It really deserves it's 4 stars. I'll start with the service, the room was cleaned everyday with fresh new towels, all bedding and curtains are in excellent condition, the room also has really good black out blinds. The hotel is waiter service in the bar area and in the restaurant where drinks are served both at breakfast and at the evening meal. The food is buffet style, I am quite a fussy eater but came away full everyday. You can order a bottle of wine and if you dont drink it all you can save it for the following night just tell the waiter what room number you are and they put a little sticker on it. We were extreemly lucky with the weather, it was 30 degrees every day apart from 1 morning when it rained, we went from the 19/10 till the 26/10, school holiday week. Things to do; Just 25-30 slow walk along the sea front you reach the lovely marina, along the way you pass shops and restaurants. The marina is lined with big boats/ships where the rich and famous go to be seen. There are lovely little shops around the edge of the water to have a look whilst having a walk. The bus stops are just outside the hotel which ever way you want to go. 1 day we took the local bus to Marbella, this took us about 1 hour we decided to go to the market, which is quite a way away from the bus station so I would recommend getting a taxi which are just stationed outside. As we set off walking not knowing how far and where we were going and had to get a taxi becuase we could not find it. Once we got there we had a nice morning and got a few bargins. If you walk just out of the hotel and turn the 1st left up the side of the hotel and walk for about 5 minutes you get to a lovely park, where there is a big lake with swans and other birds, tortoise. There is also rabbits and cockrills, which gives a nice relaxing walk. Just across the road from the park is a marine centre called Selwo, where there are bird shows, dolphins, pengiuns and sealions. You can watch shows and feeds. It costs 15 euros each to get in, I feel that it was worth it as we were there all afternoon. We had a fab time, I had my picture taken with the dolpins which was a good experience. (that cost 15 euros extra) You could also have your picture taken with Bruno the Sealion. If you carry on walking past the park and Selwo about 5-10 mins further you get to Benalmedna town, where the train station is along with several shops. Just accross the from the hotel there was place called BilBil Castle which is not actually a castle but is an art gallery. This is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by whether it be during the day or on an evening, it has small water falls surounding it, and always had a plesant atmosphere. On the Saturday whilst we were there, their was a wedding taking place which was lovely to see. 1 day we caught the bus to Torremelinos and walked back along the front to Benalmedena marina which was lovely as that seemed to have more shops to look at whilst walking. Overall this holiday was excellent, and is a really good base to see all places of interest. We are looking at returning back next year, I would thoughly recomened this hotel.
A great short break in the sun
We stayed at Las Arenas for 3 nights at the end of October for some late sun. We had originally booked to stay elsewhere but were told it had closed and would we mind moving to Las Arenas (which worked out as an upgrade at no extra cost). We agreed and we're glad we did! We had a great few days out in the sun. The hotel was clean and comfortable with great views over the Med from the pool terrace. We were only staying on a bed and breakfast basis but found the breakfasts to be a great start to the day with plenty of choice for all tastes. We didn't have any problems getting sunbeds, but it was off season and we went as soon as the pool opened. However there were lots of people who seemed to reserve their sunbeds and then go to breakfast, or return even later, which isn't really on. But with plenty of people coming and going throughout the day this never seemed to be too much of a problem. As other reviewers have noted, there is quite a large proportion of more elderly visitors at the hotel, which considering we went during school half term we were quite surprised at, but it did mean that it was nice and peaceful to relax! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it.
Above average hotel
Overall, an above average hotel that we would recommend. We arrived just too late for dinner, but unlike a previous reviewer we did not get anyVIP treatment. We were advised that we could buy a sandwich at the bar, and if our plane was delayed going home we could get dinner then instead! (Unlikely since our departure was mid-morning...). We were given a very small cramped room with no balcony. To be fair, when we complained later we were given an excellent room (with balcony) on the sixth floor , without demur. Food was the usual half-board fare - the breakfasts were very good, the dinners much more hit-or-miss. On the last night we dined out - there are plenty of very good restaurants around patronised by Spanish people. Entertainment included a flamenco show which we enjoyed and on another evening the usual part-time singer/instrumentalist who was on for 30 minutes and off for 20 (or it might have been the other way round). The great plus about this hotel is the staff - extremely pleasant, friendly and efficient, with very good English. We would recommend this hotel for anyone who is prepared for half-board catering. We certainly enjoyed our holiday in Benalmadena
Outstanding
Arrived late at night and the staff had a buffet meal waitng for us in the restaurant , we were amazed. It was all wrapped up in cling film and contained 3 courses, with drinks. For what we had paid we couldn't believe the service. Location is first class, right infront of the beach and our large 2+2 room had the most stunning seaview. The entertainment was varied and fun and the staff were wonderful. My parents were staying in a nearby hotel but they never wanted to leave ours. On our last night we got the terrible news of a close family bereavement, somehow the staff were made aware of this and they were so sensitive and helpful refusing to let us pay for coffee or drinks at the bar until we managed to get our flight home. We often stay in 5* hotels and are really fussy but I can thoroughly recommend this hotel it's a little gem. x
