I agree with poster below. Very disappointed with the Tiny ground floor room. 4 women refused to stay when we arrived and moved the next night as they did not get what they felt they booked. Ground floor apts i felt were damp and claustraphobic. Not as great as they make it out below. We paid a cheap price so basically you get what you pay for. We stayed 3 nights elsewhere as i could not hack it for a week. Plius side its a short walk to beach and quiet, not on the main strip. The owner was fine but not overly friendly but we do own own thing anyway. when leaving they had a room to use for changing and it was huge and had more air than our tiny place and was an empty 1 bed all week...would have preferred this. Pool is fine but loungers get taken up fast.

I read so many reviews about this place saying how people go back year after year and my partner and I were completely convinced that this would be the right hotel for us.
All I can say is don't be fooled like we were.
Our room was a dirty shack and the owner was in my opinion, a rude, grumpy man. The day after we arrived we spoke to our rep and asked to be moved to a different hotel but the alternative we were offered was just as bad so we decided to find our own accommodation, which we did.
Thank GOD. Staying at the Atalos ruined the first week of our holiday and we were so grateful to leave.
If you have any standards whatsoever, save yourself from the misery of the Atalos and go to one of Kamari's many habitable hotels instead.

Couldn't fault both the location and cleanliness of the apartments. The hospitality that Yianni and family showed our welsh group of 6 was excellent. He very kindly ferried us in 2 trips to his favourite restaurant and told us to phone him when we were ready to return - we unfortunately did not have his number and the restaurant paid for a taxi to take us back to our apartments, would this happen in the U.K?
The pool was our main hang out as was the concrete table by the bar, the beach was nice but pebbly (shame). Well worth a visit to Thira and Oia for the sunset. Cactus juice nice but expensive.
Try Kamari tours for the villages and sunset trip and try and get Maria the tour guide, local Greek lady of 60 plus but looks more like 40 and very helpful and knowledgeable.
Volcano trip? Has to be done but don't expect too much of the hot springs.
Love boat a must was our local and you get plenty of free drinks and cocktails if regulars. Splash - check your change when you leave.
There don't seem to be mosquitoes on the island.
Don't go to this island to buy yourself gold as the prices are hiked up due to the many cruise ships that visit.
Will definitely go back to this island and stay with Yianni, Ireni, George and Maria.
Yianni, If you read this thank you very much for making our holiday, you've inspired me to start Greek lessons and when we do return I can't wait to try my new language out. Aluns and Mathews are missing you.

" Very well run family hotel. Yannis... "

Very well run family hotel. Yannis and Maria made every single person feel very welcome.
Rooms clean and well equipped for self catering although no kettle as not used on island. Used little pan to boil water for tea.
Rooms cleaned every day and fresh towels.
Food at bar basic but made to order and delicious. beautiful pool, very clean.
Small supermarket and beautiful beach 5 mins walk away.
Advise you to buy special rubber trainer like shoe ( very cheap ) as sand very coarse.
Definitely going back to Atalos Villas. Hi Yannis and Maria and little girl!!

We had a fantastic time and Yannis, Irini, and Marie are such a wonderful family they make you so welcome and can not do enough for you. Nothing is any trouble.
Apartments are clean and cleaned every day with towels changed every other day, because usually they are so basic, they are furnished to a very high standard. They have television in the bedroom, hair-dryers and security boxes, it was like home from home.
We were a party of four, there was me, my husband Kevin and our friends Tommy and Joan Kay. Me and my husband went 3years ago and we always said we where going to go back and we was not disappointed one bit.
You can get bar snacks at the pool bar at Atalos and they are really value for money a lot cheaper than on the strip and the drinks are a lot cheaper. We always went back at night and met up with the friends we made while we were there to have a late drink.
I would recommended anybody to stay here and I can guarantee they will have a fabulous holiday and will want to go back year after year. We are going back next year at the same time. Yannis, Irini and Marie are not just owners of this wonderful accommodation, I now class them as my friends as well.

This was an absolutely fantastic holiday! I would recommend the Atalos studios for anyone considering a holiday in the resort of Kamari. The owner, Yannis, is such a nice bloke who will do whatever he can for you. The apartments are very clean and are cleaned everyday. The pool is a good size and the pool bar is cheaper than the bars along the main strip. As for the resort of Kamari itself, nearly everything (tavernas, shops etc) is located along a main strip.
Although the prices are a bit more expensive than other Greek islands, the food is absolutely fab- we didn't have a bad meal the whole holiday. As for nightlife, there are a couple of bars/ clubs that are open until about 3 but if you wanted something a bit more hardcore, I would recommend the capital (Fira). Definitely go to love boat for cocktails! The only thing I could really fault were the flights; we flew from East Midlands and because demand for Santorini is quite low, the flight also goes to Chania (Crete) which means on the return flight you have to stop at Crete for an hour (making flight time over 6 hrs).
This would be fine if we had a reasonable plane, however, the 'UK Jet' planes that we flew on were very small with no form of entertainment (not even a TV in the middle of the isle) and, due to the engines at the back of the plane, depending on the location of your seat, you could be in for a very noisy flight! Apart from that though, a fab holiday!

This is the second year we have been to the Atalos, because we had such a good time last year. Yannis and Irini, his wife and baby Maria go out of there way to make you at home. It's clean, quiet and the service is second to none. The second night we arrived, Yanni put on a buffet for us, at no cost, hospitality or what! He also puts out cakes made by Maria, and fruit that he buys in.
With it being early season when we went, many restaurants were closed or just opening up, but a few can be recommended, especially Byzantios, right at the other end of the front, but well worth a visit or 10.
Please be aware there is very little for children of any age to do, no amusements, arcades etc, and you do have to fly out to Crete on return journey to East Midlands, get off the plane for an hour and then get back on again.

We chose Santorini mainly to go and see Akrotiri. Unfortunately none of the brochures warn you that the site closes for the season on 1st October.

That said we had a very good holiday, in part due to Yianni who owned the apartments. They were basic(normal in Greece)but clean, a good size and had all you needed. Yianni could not do enough for you and went out of his way to make my daughter, son in law and grandchildren(who were staying at other apartments)welcome.

The apartments are a few minutes walk from the beach and main road so are very convenient. The beach is often described as shingly. I would say its some shingle and a lot of pebbles. Not easy to walk on and not very good for children as it is still rough and slippy even when you get in the water.

All the food we had was good and reasonably priced. Draught Mythos at the Ethnic Bar was very good.

We took the boat trip to the volcano and hot springs. Even my 4 year old grandson got to the top. Spectacular views worth the walk. Don’t be tempted to swim to the hot springs unless you’re a strong swimmer as the currents are fairly strong and its hard work. Don’t bother with the villages and sunset tour. It’s a lot of climbing and you don’t see a great deal. You are better going to Oia or Fira on the bus and seeing the sunset for 90 cents! Don’t eat or drink a lot(in Oia or Fira) or you will need to re-mortgage. The prices can be a real rip off.

It’s only a very small island and can easily be seen in a week. One last thing. The people are incredibly friendly and really make you feel welcome so go and enjoy!!!
