We have just returned from a week at the Asarlik Beach on bed and breakfast basis. We are a couple in our late 40s.
We were allocated a really lovely room with a separate sitting area, double bed and good bathroom with a bath, which we weren’t expecting. However, we like a view and this room didn't have one, so we asked if we could move. They showed us another room immediately, and although it was smaller with twin beds and only a shower (very large tray though), we decided to take it as the view was lovely, and they helped us to move.
The staff from the reception to the waiters and bar staff were friendly, courteous and genuinely interested in us. The cleanliness of the hotel cannot be faulted and although we've stayed in 4 star hotels around the world, never have I had the bed and towels arranged in hearts and flowers and decorated with flower petals as we did on two occasions at this hotel - a lovely touch.
We tend to travel around so didn't spend too much time around the pool area, but on the one day we did, we weren't keen on the loud music and rather silly entertainment, but this is a personal thing and others seemed to love it. You can avoid this by using the sun beds just below on the beach. There is plenty of room round the pool and just below on the beach and it never looked overcrowded. When you arrive you are given a card to use for payment of food and drinks, its a really good system and avoids carrying money around, but a good idea to check how much you owe every few days.
Gumbet is a really lively town and caters for those who enjoy a busy night life, but the hotel is just around the corner from all the bars so not bothered by it at all. The hotel entertainment can be a little loud but stops at midnight so again, not a problem. There are quite a few steps from the pool and bar area up to reception and the rooms, so not suitable for everyone, but the layout of the terracing and gardens is very pretty and well maintained. Breakfast is very good and there is plenty of choice - we never needed to bother with lunch!
Would recommend you use the safe in the room as we had a phone card stolen but that was the only negative thing about the holiday. The Asarlik Beach is an all-round good holiday hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The Turkish people are delightful.

I loved this hotel. The staff were amazingly friendly and really made you feel welcome. It is suitable for all age groups, as when we were there, there were young families, older couples, young couples, teenagers and everybody got along fine. The entertainment wasn’t amazing, but I enjoyed it and the staff certainly try to make sure you enjoy it.
There's plenty to do so technically, you wouldn’t even have to leave your hotel, bars, cafe, beach, water sports etc. I especially like the cocktail bar (!) where the staff shake your cocktails and really make an effort. The nightlife in Gumbet was brilliant, plenty to choose from, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops as well, most of them very reasonably priced.
I will definitely be going back to Asarlik Beach, and would recommend it to everyone.

I would not hesitate to recommend Asarlik beach. Spotless clean, beautiful gardens and pool area.
Rooms are immaculate, we have been four times, different room each time, never a fault. Steps could be a problem for some people, central location, have always found staff very helpful and friendly. Basically if you are there to enjoy yourselves, you will. If you want to find fault, no doubt you will. Some folk seem to enjoy complaining! Food not too bad, thought the breakfasts, excellent choice.
Evening meals seem to be repetitive, but hey! The beauty of going to turkey is trying out the many restaurants on offer in the resorts. Why stay in your hotel every night? Best going b&b. Pool area excellent, entertainment not bad, but again the resorts got plenty to offer, so why stay in the hotel? Just watch what you do with the card system and you'll be fine. Never had a problem, we always settled the bill daily to keep ourselves right.
Mini bar was reasonably priced, we even bought our own stuff and kept it there, no-one complained. Security staff never asked what we were bringing in, but there again we find that if you go out your way to be nice, that’s what you get in return. Don’t understand how some folks complain about this hotel, perhaps there's something wrong with them!

This hotel is in a beautiful setting with excellent views across the sea. The resort of Gumbet is lively and friendly and we couldn't fault it.
The large pool area has plenty sun beds and shady areas and is kept very clean. We stayed bed and breakfast and there was loads of choice both hot and cold available, great variety of breads, rolls and cereals so really something for everyone.
You are issued with a credit card which you use to pay for anything at the hotel, this is charged to your room and you settle your bill at reception, I'd recommend you do this on a daily basis so that you can keep an eye on your spending. I didn't like this credit card system, although it meant you didn't have to carry money around with you if you were in the complex, you really have to watch what is being charged. Our friends were charged for 2 gin and tonics, they don't drink gin and never ordered these drinks. They had a bit of a job explaining this at reception and they were reluctant to admit a mistake had been made. Our friends refused to pay for them and eventually it was sorted out.
Another problem was the pool bar - there were about 8 people behind the bar but probably only one or two were actually serving, others were involved in writing out receipts and inputting them at the computer. Trying to get someone to serve you was a nightmare, and then trying to get your card back when you wanted to leave was a major headache. Surely it would have been better to have them all serving and you just paid for your drinks with cash.
Our friends also had stuff stolen from their room (a ring, an ornament which was a gift for someone and a pair of sandals!). There was no break in so it obviously was someone who had a key. When they reported it to reception they just weren't interested and in fact it took 2 days before they would actually take a report on what was missing. And when asked what they were going to do about it because it must have been someone employed by the hotel, they just shrugged their shoulders and said nothing. So unless you can fit everything into your room safety deposit box (which is impossible) just be aware that there are thieves in operation in this hotel.

Before booking this holiday I had never fancied going to Turkey and was a bit wary of the place and people, after being in Gumbet for a week my opinion has totally changed.
Every single thing about this holiday was amazing, the people, everyone is so friendly and nothing is too much for them. The hotel, the rooms were very clean and spacious, the staff were just excellent always there to help you if you needed anything, worked very hard to make sure you had a good time, the entertainment wasn’t exactly first class but they did try their best and it was very enjoyable.
The resort of Gumbet was also very nice, some shopkeepers and restaurant owners were a bit pushy in trying to get you to buy things of have something to eat but if you are polite and tell them no thanks they normally leave you alone but to be quite honest you get that hassle in all holiday destinations.
This was by far the best holiday I have been on and the best hotel I have ever stayed in, in fact so good we are going back in September.

Hotel not suitable for anyone with...

Hotel not suitable for anyone with any mobility problems as steps ++++.
Rooms acceptable, clean and basic but bathrooms poor. When booking avoid rooms 511-513 as you are over the entertainment and it is very noisy for most of the night.
The staff in the restaurant were wonderful and attentive but I question their genuineness or motive as i think this is financially led.
Do not go to Gumbet or Asarlik Beach at the end of season as they pack everything up three days before the end of your stay. You feel that you should have left and you were an inconvenience. We were very lucky according to management because on our last evening when the hotel had been completely packed up we were given meat and rice in the open air local temp 2C. Not nice.
Would I return to Turkey - yes but not to Gumbet and certainly not Asarlik Beach.
Also the whole peninsula is 4 times more expensive than say Marmaris/Icmeler.

We had a great time here!! The staff are always cleaning and the hotel was spotless, they were still cleaning at 3-4 in the morning, the food on half board wasn’t brilliant but was all kept very well, and it was safe to have ice in your drink because it was all pre packed, the entertainment was good thanks to the animation team.
We would definitely go back here, but it wasn’t very child friendly at night because all the tables are situated around the pool in the evening. There are alot of steps but it says that in the brochure, the water sports were really good too.

The hotel was spotless, the service was great and very friendly, food was varied and plentiful, nothing was too much bother.
First time in turkey but won’t be the last. only thing is ,don’t buy anything at Bodrum airport on the way home as it’s a complete rip-off. Shame really as the whole holiday was very reasonable.
The most enjoyable thing about this holiday was the Turkish people themselves.

This was our first visit to Turkey and were not sure what to expect as we had had mixed reports. However, the Asarlik Beach is a first class hotel which was spotlessly clean with very helpful staff who did their best to ensure you had a pleasant stay. My only complaint was the age old problem of sunbeds.
People putting towels on sunbeds and then going off to do their own thing knowing their beds would be waiting for them on their return (much to the annoyance of other guests). That said, I would not fault this hotel in anyway, even though we had a lot of stairs to climb (which was in the brochure) we had a terrific view from our room.
The beach was nothing to write home about but as the pool and terrace are was so clean and pleasant this was did not trouble us. I would certainly return to this hotel again at some point in future.

The accommodation was great, we had a sea view and the rooms were cleaned to a high standard. The staff were very friendly but left you alone if that’s what you wanted. The food was varied(we stayed on flexi dine so had 7 meals in the hotel) but there wasn’t much of a choice for children apart from chips! Breakfast was good. The swimming pools are kept very clean. I would return to this hotel and recommend it for a relaxing holiday.
