Sep 2007, Mrs L Maughan

Our party of four stayed at the Asarlik Beach Hotel for one week on half board basis in September 2007. Two of the party had been to this hotel in 2000. The hotel was fab.
It is very picturesque with lots of greenery around and plants. At night as you walk about you are able to smell the jasmine. The hotel itself is really clean.
The towels were changed daily and the room was a good size. The shower was not as good as we would have liked but this is the only thing I could find fault with.
The food is fantastic with lots of choice (two of us are vegetarian).
The staff go out of their way to be helpful and the service was excellent. The location of the hotel is great, right on the beach with walks either along the beach or into Gumbet.
We shall definitely go back - we would highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic holiday. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the General Manager ate in the restaurant every night and was very approachable and helpful.
The restaurant staff were excellent, especially Gunnate and Mendesa who always had a smile and a warm welcome, the hotel staff all made a fuss of my 7 year old granddaughter making her feel very special accommodation was very clean and well kept.
The Hotel is very near to the centre of the town but is also far enough away if you are looking for a chilled out holiday by the Beach or swimming pool, Asarlik Beach Hotel has everything you will needed for a holiday, loved the Turkish Baths, the shopping and the local people who were all so friendly.
It was our second time in Gumbet and we loved every minute of it going back again next year, as there is lots more to see and do roll on the next 50 weeks before we go back to Gumbet.

My wife and I left Exeter in the morning, arrived at Bodrum Airport 16.40. This is a new time, flights from Exeter use to land at 4.30am. We arrived at the hotel and had to wait an hour before being shown to our room. I told the First Choice Rep she said it was unacceptable and would take the matter up with the hotel.
We went to dinner and when we came back to our room, on our bed was flowers and a bottle of wine. The hotel was spotless, you could not have wished for more helpful and polite staff, nothing was to much trouble for them.
The food is healthy, lots of vegetables, if you want to eat out its just a short walk along the beach. The entertainment was unusual there were lady swimmers in the pool doing a aqua show and a male belly dancer, this took place around the pool during and after dinner.
The hotel has beautiful gardens that are maintained day and night. I would not recommend this hotel if you have walking problems or young children in prams, but there is a lift to the ground floor.
We made friends with the hotel staff and they helped to make this a holiday to remember. This is a lovely hotel and well worth a visit, also Turkey and its people make you most welcome.

Just back from a week's holiday at the Asarlik Beach in Gumbet.
I'll start with the bad points - the food is basic and repetitive. We were
half board but ended up eating out most nights as we were bored with what
the hotel had to offer.
The hotel uses a 'card' system, when we'd rather have just paid for drinks,
etc, with cash there and then.
Now for the good!
The rooms were spotless, cleaners arrived every day and the shower,
air-conditioning, fresh towels, hot water, etc were all fine.
The pool area is lovely, as is the dining area. Most of the tables are set
outside and it makes for quite a picturesque setting.
The location of the hotel is perfect in the sense that it's only a 15-minute
walk from the busy nightlife area but far enough away that you don't
actually hear it or feel as though you're in the middle of it. At night, the
hotel is very quiet and peaceful.
Overall, I'd rate the hotel and resort 7 out of 10. I've stayed in better,
but I've also stayed in a lot worse.

Brilliant hotel, magnificent views over Gumbet bay all in all a great holiday.
The only downfall were all the steps, didn't affect me or my husband but would not recommend for the older generation if not fit, sorry.
The meals were satisfactory and plenty of choice each night. The entertainment at night was good something different each night, like Turkish dancers, brake dancers (who were superb!) and even synchronised swimming one night.
The hotel is near enough for bars, shops and restaurants but away from any noise, perfect. Will be going back again sometime no doubt.

Jul 2007, Mrs D Bowman

Went to Asarlic Beach, from 16th June until 1st July 2007 on half board.
We were put in a small room and there were 4 of us so I asked at reception if we could be moved to a larger room, they said as soon as one was available they would be happy to move us which they did the very next day.
After reading numerous reviews I expected the standard of cleaning to be A+ but personally I don't think our room was cleaned very well at all. Since the Royal Asarlik opened next door I think they are concentrating on that one and in return this one is suffering.
The food was quite nice. All our party enjoyed it and there was always something for every one. There was always a bbq outside as well. Evening meal wasn't until 8pm which was a little late but what the heck, it gave you longer round the pool. Tables for meals were outside the restaurant around the pool and this could be a little unpleasant had it been very hot and would have been better if you could eat indoors in the air conditioned restaurant. However I don't think the fortnight we went they were expecting a heat wave and the temperature was between 45 and 51 degrees (very hot) - it was still 33 degrees at 11pm. Eating outdoors is probably a lot more pleasant when the temperatures cool down.
Pool area is lovely and kept very clean and the pool was never overcrowded.
The kids joined in all the activities killer darts, water polo, table tennis, bowls and they liked to get you up doing the Turkish dance which was good. The evening entertainment wasn't wonderful but they did try and it was all catered for the English.
The hotel staff were very friendly and would do anything for you, they are lovely people.
The only things I didn't like about Gumbet was the beach or lack of it and the sea.
The beach is awful; a strip about 3ft deep and full of sharp stones and it was an assault course to get into the sea, it really hurt your feet and when you did get in you got straight back out because the sea was freezing.
All in all I really enjoyed the holiday and would recommend the Asarlik Beach but if you are a beach lover you will be disappointed with the beach.

This is a lovely hotel, the staff were fantastic, and it was the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in.
The down side was the amount of steps we had to climb up to our room, it was exhausting, and we were there in the recent freak weather which didn’t help.
It was nice having the beach so close where there was always sunbeds, the beach itself is a bit unstable under the water, and it’s advisable to buy some proper plastic shoes so you can walk in it as there are pebbles and rocks. Not the best fashion accessory but safer!
It’s about a 5 minute walk to the shops and bars but it’s quite hilly which ever why you go. You do get hassled by EVERY shop or bar you pass, which was quite funny at 1st but after a few days it was quite annoying, as I would have gone in more shops if they had just left me alone to look around.
We would definitely go back to Turkey but maybe to a different area, the people are very friendly and helpful. There are plenty of trips which you can book in the town or at the hotel.
The food wasn’t great but it was edible, we found it better to go out to eat in the evening even though we were on half board basis. The local restaurants are really cheap to eat in and everything we had out was lovely.
I would have liked an inside air conditioned bar, as the only bar was around the pool area and as it was so hot and you had to go up and down so many steps to get a drink it would have been nice to sit inside and not have to spend so long in your room.
I was surprised by the reception area which was really small and really just a desk and a couple of chairs. Although they did let us put our luggage in there all day until we were picked up for the airport.
The safe deposit box in the room was only £10 which is a lot cheaper than we have paid anywhere else so well worth having.
We had a lovely week at this hotel but not sure I would recommend it to friends. (Maybe we are just more unfit than we thought)
The spa area is nice if you want any treatments and quite reasonably priced.
Also the sunbeds in the best spots around the pool were taken before midnight the night before by the Germans staying at the hotel which was very annoying. Every morning you see the same faces sitting under the cool trees and they didn’t move all day.
I think the hotel staff should remove any towels from sunbeds that are left unattended for maybe 2 hours, which is quite long enough to have a swim or a meal.
Apart from all that we really did have a nice time here.

Had 2 weeks in this hotel and it was a clean hotel and the landscape gardens looked nice, but to be honest it was really hard work as the hotel as lots and lots of steps.
They are very steep and it’s a nightmare with children. You need to use these steps to get to the pool, dining area, bar and beach so really there is no way that you can dodge them.
Once down the steps, the pool is nice enough; plenty of sunbeds etc and it is kept clean.
The bar is small but very friendly; however there is hardly any nightly entertainment and definitely none during the day.
I was not keen on the food and the dining area is very basic, although breakfasts are good especially the omelettes and bread rolls.
I would come back to Turkey but would try another hotel.

I was not very keen on this hotel. I booked it because there had been some great reviews on it but I was not best pleased at it. There is such a steep walk down to the pool area and when you have a pram and small children it really does leave you hassled.
The room was ok and clean but I struggled to get clean towels which was not good and also some money did go missing from my room.
The pool was nice enough but the beach was a pathetic attempt at a beach, it was not nice at all plus you do get hassled off the locals so better to stay around pool.
Kids did not enjoy food at all, there was nothing very appetising so ate out in Gumbet centre, however the bread rolls and pancakes were good in the morning.
I would not book to this hotel again as i do think that there are much better.

I was staying here between 28th May 11th June 2007.
This place was just fantastic. I’m booking up again to go back in September.
The food was the only real down point its great food... But a bit samey after 2 weeks.
Staff were fantastic. The most friendly people in the world. I made a lot of friends here. I’m sure holidaymakers will find the same.
Location fantastic. Holiday amazing!
I love the place. If your thinking of coming to turkey come here... don’t go anywhere else.
AWESOME!

We spent 2 weeks at the Asarlick Beach resort and overall the holiday was good but unfortunately there were way too many steps which could be a hindrance to many people.
Luckily all my family are young and athletic etc, so it was not a problem to us. I was disappointed with the beach, as it’s not very appealing; however the pool is lovely and clean so we stayed round there.
The shops are all within walking distance and there are many bargains to be found. I would book to go back, as the rooms are always kept clean.
