" Shortchanged "

Just returned from a week's holiday to this place. Some of the fixtures and fittings in the communal areas are worthy of their 4 star rating but otherwise over-rated. Service was poor. Food bland and repetitive but made the most of the sunshine and time off work.
Our flights were delayed so we arrived shortly before breakfast time in the hotel. No welcome breakfast or drink. Noone around to show us to our rooms or take our luggage. We struggled with cases and children having been travelling for 15 hours. Not a great start.
We'd already read that the bottle of water in the room was not complimentary. We had a family room which consisted of a double bed and sliding doors leading to two singles. The doors do not offer a full screen so not ideal for privacy. Bathroom nicely fitted but quite small. No plug for bath.Hairdryer in bathroom. Take your own iron. Apparently the hotel will hire you a kettle but this isnt promoted and we weren't sure what you would do about milk etc for drinks.

Mealtimes are a bit manic and standard hotel buffet style. Soups, chips some grilled fish and chicken, turkish pizza and salads. Puddings slightly better with nicely presented cakes. Breakfasts were good with omelettes, pancakes, some cereals cakes and salad. Tables are nicely set but sometimes linen was stained. Highchairs were dirty. A lot of the crockery is chipped and the plastic glasses sometimes need to inspected closely as not always washed properly. Unlike other places the waiters do not help you get your drinks. Service is better if you have a young woman with you who is worthy of the waiter's attention. Sad stereotype but true. Generally waiters and staff disinterested and not falling over themselves to help. Food police in place, got a dirty look from one staff member as I took 2 tangerines for the kids at breakfasttime. Not allowed to take food out for toddler who was asleep in her buggy one evening. Not able to get a bottle of milk for baby. Signs everywhere warning people they will get charged for plates or cups found in the room. I think the hotel got the balance wrong trying to maintain hygiene which is fair enough and policing people's access to food or a hot drink especially for somewhere all inclusive.
Went to an outside snack bar for lunch most days to have the same meal, burger, chicken wrap chips and fruit.
Ice cream service was poor, none available at mealtimes. Restricted to available for one hour during the day - even this was cut short. Kids got one tablespoon of icecream on a slim cone.
Bar service reasonably ok. Hotel was very quiet as this was the last week before it closes. Many guests left and the hotel was busy putting sunbeds etc away. Disconcerting and rude experience at times left feeling like we were in the way.
The entertainment was low key end of season etc - someone told us that most of the animation team had left the previous week. Advertised shows did not go ahead as there were not enough people there. There was a helpful newlstter delviered every evening but this was stopped partway through our stay, Speakers from the poolside were removed so limited daytime atmosphere.
Kids club was limited, the male member of staff was very friendly but not enough kids attending to make the activities interesting for our children. The mini disco was great. There was supposed to be a kids buffet but this was bleak.
The aqaupark is probably very good in high season, but with painfully cold water and some rides, the gift shops and some cafes closed it seemed dead.
We used the spa for treatments and the prices were annoyingly reduced considerably towards the end of the week. The spa area is nicely decorated, rooms are clean and nice music playing. The experience though felt rushed and there was no hairdryer, after being there for half an hour with wet hair I left feeling very cold.
The beach was good, plenty of sunbeds available, comfy rattan sofas too which made a nice change. Couldn't wade out with my toddlet as it was very muddy.
Pools were cold. Indoor pool also cold. but lots of families trying to make the most of it.
We went into town using the hotel bus, reasonably priced. The market runs on Sunday and Wednesday. Not for the fainthearted. Mostly male sellers with cheap tshirts, jeans and bags. Practise saying no several times before you go! Clearly prices are for tourists. We bought a russian style doll from outside the market for 10 lira and the cheapest we were offered it in the market was 30 lira.
Turkish First choice rep was appalling. Gave us the wrong time for welcome meeting and then was offhand, dismissive and patronising when we tried calmly and politely to get some help. Struggled with inadequate accommodation as the rep was so unhelpful.
Lots of people were unwell during the holiday. First choice were not willing to register complaints unless people had consulted the £60 a throw doctor on site. Some people were dsigruntled about having paid extra to come during halfterm and then be shortchanged with reduced facilities as the hotel was preparing for close-down. People were told they would have to pay differing amounts to keep their rooms - even though there were no more guests expected.
All in all shortchanged on what was marketed as"the best family hotel in Turkey" Holiday was good enough because we tried really hard to have fun and make the most of it. Met some nice families. Two star holiday which should have been so much better. Worth going but don't go end of season unless you get a very cheap deal

" Aqua fantasy "

Got back from this hotel a week ago, 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 12. Have been before in the height of the season 3 years ago and although busy then the hotel didn't seem to struggle as much, i feel they have made it too big. The holiday was great but they seem to have forgotten the old part of the hotel with very very grubby carpets in the entrance hall, we had a junior family room, which was large and spacey, watch your mini bar as it is very expensive to take anything out of there and very much a temptation for children. The purchase of water is an absolute rip off, especially as its a needed drink, i have been on All inc before where there are water tanks and bottles free. The air conditioning wasnt good and i can imagine in the middle of the summer that people would suffer. The pools are large and a lot of them but we went at a time ware there was not fight for the sunbeds and it was very quiet, i can only imagine the nightmare of obtaining one in the summer, the pools were subzero temperatures, didnt go in once, didnt want to get hyperthermia! The restaurant area was clean and the food very varied, tasty and well presented, a struggle for the staff to clear tables and re-lay but they worked hard. The shops in the hotel were overpriced! and as you were a 15 minute to drive to the town there was no other choice. The Hamaman/Spas were lovely, we had one most nights and between screaming adolecent german children playing football we found it quite relaxing! Children are supposed to go in there supervised but it seemed to be one rule for one and one for another! The Aqua park is great for kids but monotonous on a daily basis, this time of year is was empty so no queing, however the lifeguards seemed to be on a winde down as most were asleep and you were left to sort your self out, i no one incident ware a young girl faked panic in the lazy river and the lifeguard didn't stir, my son was also told to go down one of the black hole tubes with no water, he didnt go down as he saw a dead bird and rubbish in there. The large drop slide was great but a lot of bad scratches from the seams of the slide. Overall the old part of the hotel and aqua park needs a re-vamp, and some issues looking at, a great holiday for the young family if you dont want to go out much...just remember your imodium!!!

" Ms "

I must start by saying that I am shocked that some people have found Aqua Fantasy so bad!
There were 6 of us that went ranging from my 10yr old son up to my 77yr old dad and also including my mum who is disabled and I have to say that we all had a fantastic time and were sad to leave after our week was up!
On arrival the check in was good but they are not very clear on the splash card which is to be used as a credit card for any extras you buy within the complex (including the water park) and is to paid at any time at reception. They keep your luggage at reception and deliver it to your room for a small tip.
The rooms were kept very clean by the maids on a daily basis (leave the do not disturb sign on the door the night before if you fancy a lie in). The beds were very comfortable. The mini bar was extra but I felt the prices were reasonable a big bottle of water was £1.50, a beer about £1.80 (4tl) I think some people expect supermarket prices and if you want the mini bar to be free you must stay in a 24 hr all inclusive hotel which is obviously a lot more expensive.
The food was varied and very tasty with theme nights including Chinese with sushi made in front of you and my kids loved the deep fried ice-cream. There are two all inclusive restaurants and we found the restaurant in the club side better. My youngest son preferred the snack bar which served pizza, salad, chips, kebab etc
I think they could improve the kids inclusive ice-cream which was only served once a day and if your children aren't the bolshy push in type they could have a long wait.... A great extra was the midnight soup which was tasty with 2 choices and plenty of bread, also the machine was on for water or fruit juices.
The pools were lovely, large and clean, I think they could do with a life guard to stop some of the teens jumping from dangerous positions such as by the swim up bars though! There is also an adult pool which was lovely and quiet with its own bar.
The bars were good with large measures but possibly they could extend the service time til the entertainment ends although we didn't find this a problem. Be careful when asking for coke light as they do sometimes just give normal coke which we found a problem as my dad is a diabetic...
The water park is great the kids loved it as did we, some great quiet spots and a lovely swim up to bar in the main pool that served cocktails and all the regular drinks.. Prices were slightly high but you could just walk back into the hotel which wasn't far and have a quick drink if your budget didn't stretch to this..
Be warned, they do check your bags on entry to the water park for food and drink, even water was not allowed to be brought in!
The evening entertainment was very average but there is other options such as bowling, table tennis, karaoke, pool, snooker, darts, Internet....etc (some at extra charge).
The beach was OK, they try to keep it clean but the sand is a bit sludgy near the water but you can walk out on the pier and get in, the water is lovely and warm. There are kayaks and peddle boats which are all inclusive and other activities which aren't!
We found the hotel ideal for disabled as it is very flat and has ground level access to rooms and communal areas.
The taxis right outside the hotel will take you into kusadasi for 20 turkish lira (make sure you agree this price before you get in) which is about £8 and they take up to 7 passengers so it works out more reasonable than the bus if there is a few of you! It is a lovely place to visit especially in the evening when there are some lovely restaurants and plenty of shopping but be prepared to haggle..
Over-all we had a great time and will definitely be returning!

" Poor holiday!!  "

Aqua Fantasy hotel is a lovely place but does not deserve to be a five star as the problems listed below:
1.Repetative food
2.Animation team eg. a certain member of the staff very very arragent against custormers. Problems with his sexuality and rudeness towards custormers.
3.Entertainment very poor eg. starting late when all inclusive about to end. Same most nights. ( Very well if u like seven nights a week)
4.You pay money for bingo but you can't win money as it's against their religon.
5.Darren needs to be more noticeable as he is a very nice entertainer there at aqua fantasy.
6.Bar staff are fantastic and need to be payed more than they get at the moment due to there working hours.
7.The issue of pedofiles on the beach needs to be addressed to all members in hotel.
8.More entertainment for children during the day.
For my last example i would like to point out that the white, shipped shape hotel along the beach is a three star free fridge and top up daily; with no extra charge. I would say that the ship hotel is a better value than the aqua fantasy hotel which does not deserve its 5 star.
There was eighteen(18) of us and none of us enjoyed it.

" well this was our first all inclusive... "

well this was our first all inclusive and on first thoughts all was ok, after the first week though it was hard work getting through repetition but what do you expect? As for the hotel the entertainment teams were fun and the nights quite good for a laugh when they got the audience involved. Food was fine until you get bored of chips, gravy, turkey nuggets etc, we had diahorrea for 3 days and put a dampener on things as at the end of the holiday we just wanted to be home eating proper food. Watch out for food near the doors as they have loads of flies around and there is no prevention of them flying about the foods. The water park was great but spread it out else you will get bored straight away, the mini bar is well expensive but if you do have stuff buy replacements from the shop downstiars for a lira cheaper, the large bottle you think is welcome gift isnt free either, all in all this holiday started on fire and ended like a damp squib. only the people with us made it enjoyable

" This hotel should definitely NOT be... "

This hotel should definitely NOT be issued with 5 stars, i don't know how they got them at all. The food is repetitive and disgusting, they seem to TRY and cook english food (or what they think english food is!) which is constant chips and whatever meat it is that day. The choice is pretty much the same every day. EVERYTHING is fried. The hotel does LOOK clean and they do seem to have lots of moody staff cleaning all the time, but the plates are never clean, the food pans they use to cook in tastes the same as the food put in them the day before! and the beer pumps are obvoiusly never washed and cleaned through!! so the hotel is only clean on the surface!!!
The rooms are ok but very english style you would never no you are in Turkey. And there is not alot of choice outside the hotel, Kusadasi is a bus ride away, costs £3.50 each, each way, (but if you have a child, pop them on your lap then you dont pay for them!) then you are constantly nagged by rude Turks who question why you dont want to buy anything. Although you can get a fry up for about £2.50 each at Kusadasi but that defeats being all inclusive, we found ourselves going out into Kusadasi to buy food because the hotel was sooo poor!!
And you have another choice of destination which is Selcuk which is a small area near Ephesus other than that theres bugger all!!
Turkey was very cloudy when we were there and i think that is pretty much all we go for - the sunny weather, so i would never ever recommend Turkey or the Aqua fantasy hotel....... well unless your common, or chavy, like chips alot and can drink your monies worth of beer (about 2 grands worth!! )whilst you there.. then you will pretty much be in your element!!

" We went to turkey in 2008 and i cant... "

We went to turkey in 2008 and i cant say it was the best holiday that we have been on. The holiday entertainment team was fantastic , funny and very helpful towards the little children, they did a club dance 3-4 times a day and they would appreciate it if you went up and took part in the dance. The food in the pearl bar on lunch times was alwase the same, chicken kebab, hamburger/cheeseburger or hotdog. In the oasis resturant the food was mostly all the same, meat, chips, bread, soup pasta. Be aware that on sundays 5:00 cakes finish at 5:00-5:30 but still carry on in the other main resturant, the tropicant resturant in the club hotel. Entertainment on a night time is fantastic depending where you go and there are bars all the way around the hotel so you will never be stuck for a drink, make sure you take a jacket on a night because it is not very warm. You can take drinks up to your room but make sure you move all cups and glasses before the maids come in because you will be charged for any dirty cups or glasses. make sure you know what you are doing before you book this holiday, will you be let down....?

" Best holiday ever. I went with my... "

Best holiday ever. I went with my friend and two daughters aged 10 and 13. They both loved this holiday and say it was one of the best they had.
My 10 year old daughter loved the kids clubs, which were free and in operation for 2 hours every morning and again in the afternoon. The Kids entertainment team were excellent, and in the kids clubs they had reps for every nationality, so was excellent. There were planned activities, but often the children asked to do other things and the staff were great and changed the activities to suit the children.
There was so much to do on the complex and in the water park, that we did not really need to leave the hotel.
Yes the All Inclusive did finish at 11, but we worked around this and were up early maximising the days and then all very ready to go to bed by the time the AI finished. The food was not excellent but also was not bad, there was plenty of choice for adults, but the kids section at dinnertime could be improved.
The only thing that ruined our first couple of days was the attitude of some of the guests, the Dutch were very rude, and their children even more so. I gave my children a very quick lesson on how to deal with these rude people (if you can't beat them, then join them). Once we got over this hurdle all was great. Some of the staff were also a bit cold at first, but once you showed them you were there for a good time, and showed a little courtesy they soon relaxed with you and made the stay pleasurable. I don't blame them for being over cautious at first, as I was appalled at how some of the other guests treated the staff. Some nationalities need a lesson or two on how to say please, thank you and how to queue. The whole complex was very clean, considering we went right at the end of the season, all was still in full swing and very clean. I don't generally go to the same place twice, as there is a big wide world out there to explore but I would really consider looking at booking this for next year.

" Just got back from 2 weeks at Aqua... "

Just got back from 2 weeks at Aqua Fantasy and over all we had a fantastic time.
Our room was very large we choose a family room and would def advise people to go for that with 2 kids, it was plenty big enough with large bathroom.
The food was beautiful best we have ever had in turkey , we did get a couple of tummy upsets but what do you expect in a all inclusive hotel, everyone tends to eat to much and drink to much and the food is very different to ours back home , stay away from ice in your drinks and we found we seemed to get a dodgy tummy when we had to much salad ( washed in their water we think ) .
My husband was the only one that did not suffer and he drank the most ate the most but hates salad so that says it all.
The hotel was spotless and staff very friendly ,my sister in law had trouble with the mini bar they tried to charge her for things she had not had so be careful.
Entertainment was very good ,having been to Turkey several times we have always found entertaiment terrible we were quite impressed.
Beach was great for the kids all sand (very dark sand ) and very clean , we spotted staff clearing all the sea weed out of sea we could not believe it .
Shops in hotel very expensive so wait till wed market (not sat market more expensive) and rem to barter you should be able to pay at least half of what they are asking .
Don't book any trips with Discovery in the town twice they failed to collect us from hotel and we ended up payin for taxi s so stick to first choice trips(expensive)but realible.
A must is to go and see the dolphins , my daughter and niece swam with them which they said was fantastic it cost £65 each it s double that in spain and worth every penny.
We are def going back next year and taking my parents this time as we know they would love it .

" First choice - Last choice, never... "

First choice - Last choice, never again!
Our flight was delayed leaving Gatwick and the plane was awful! It was tatty and old and we were all spilt up, we have a 3 year son who was sitting by himself!! We paid to have the in flight meals and when they never gave us them we were told that they didnt have any left.

Arriving at the hotel with about 5 other coach loads of people, check in was quite bad. We were issued with a 'splash card' credit card, for all the other extras that we were to incure. They tell you to leave your bags and they will be brought to your room, for a tip of course. They will eventually arrive about and hour later, which is not good when it is 2 in the morning.

We had a family room, which was ok, clean (apart from the carpet)and a good size. After a long trip we was very thirsty and there was a bottle of water on the side with glasses. We along with most people in the hotel thought that this was complimentary, as you cannot drink the the tap water. Dont be fooled this is part of the mini bar and you will be charged. The mini bar is expensive, 2pounds for a can of coke, 3 pounds for a beer, and 7.50 for a vodka, 2 pounds for crisps! The shops at the hotel are equally expensive. There are no shops outside the complex unless you go into town which is 20lira by taxi or 3.5lire by bus, each way.

There are only two resturants on the complex, which is ridiculous, very hard to get a table. It was like a cattle market trying to get the food, which was terrible and cold. Other nationalities do not know what a queue is! The staff are rude and ignorant, i think they prefer the Germans. Our first day we went for late breakfast as we didnt get to sleep till late. The late breakfast ends at 11, my 3 year old was still eating and they chucked us out of the resturant. Fresh orange juice is also extra at £1.50. We was not allowed to take any food or drink out of the resturant so my 3 year old didnt have much breakfast. If you do manage to smuggle out food be warned that if they find a plate in your room they will charge you £10 and a cup £5.

The all inclusive is a joke, the food finishes at 9.30 and you have to wait untill 12oclock for the soup kitchin like we were homeless. Soup was like water and you couldnt even get a drink of water with it. I asked them to fill my sons cup up for bedtime as he has a drink to sleep but they want 3pounds to do so.

The entertainment is rubbish, Turkish people must be easily pleased. At the kids disco they play the same 5 songs everynight. You have to use the splash card for ice cream 2pound each, waffles and candy floss. We brought an ice cream for our son and they didnt push the icecream in the cone properly and it fell on the floor. They charged us again for another one. The all inclusive finishes at 11.30, and everyone goes to the bar to get as many drinks in as possible. one night we had a couple of drinks left and the entertainment finished in that bar so we went to move to another bar they would not let us take our drinks with us, they just chucked them away. We went to the disco and they want 4.50for a small glass of cocktail, 3 pounds for a beer,7 for vodka. We just left and went to bed.

The snack bars in the day have they same food everyday. There are lots of flies landing on the food, it is not covered over and they do not have any fly zappers anywhere. The bars smell disgusting and the fruit juice is mixed with large water bottles which we think was tap water. My little boy had an orange juice and it smelt of poo.

The resort is plagued with wasps and massive big wasps and mosquitoes. I had extra strong insect repelliant with me and was still being attacked.

The pools were nice and there was plenty of sun beds. The water was freezing (sea is warmer) around the pools is quite dangerous (no lifeguards) as it is very slippery and had to be constantly watching my son. Do not leave toys or lilos etc when you move from your sunbed as people knick them. The water park ,i feel is dangerous. The lifeguards do not watch what is happening in the pools, they are too busy talking to each other. You get searched before you go in and i saw them take baby food off of some one. You have to use your splash card for the lockers and any food and drink in there. I do have my concerns about the cleanliness of the pool water, both me and my boy have ear infections.

There is no holiday spirit in this hotel, they closed bars early, and just felt like that they wanted to get you out so they could finish. It was all about what they could charge you extra for and how to get money out of you. 90% of the people there wanted to go home, and everyone was ill.

We was taken to the airport only to find out there was a 4hour delay. People were being sick and people running to the toilet. We was given a burger king at 2 in the morning when all the kids were asleep and most people had alreay brought meals which were £10 for a woopper meal, it cost us 10pounds for 3 drinks.

this was the first holiday i have booked with first choice and it will be the last. I cannot understand why first choice recommend this hotel when so many people complained. I am amazed at the good reviews on here regarding this hotel, it is definatly not a four star! it is like a 2 star in benidorm. I expect there will be many other negative reviews following mine on here.

I wouldnt go back to turkey, people are so unfriendly and rude. They drag you into their shop to buy rubbish that you can get cheaper in the uk then tell you to get out their shop followed by abuse.

There are better all inclusive packages out there in better locations, think twice before you book this one.

what a beautful hotel! very clean and staff working all the time! swimming pools are lovely. food was ok not hot when should of been! people having sunbeds on beach and around couple of the pools and spending time between both which is unfair! taxi ti town will cost 25ytl i dont recomend eating at planet yucca in town if you do go out for a night! i would strongly recomend kitchen of the world which is just uo the road from planet yucca! they will provide taxi back to resort! rooms are gorgeous at hotel but air con wasn't working. beach is lovely but not the cleanest. we felt the entertainment was very poor and nothing to do at night! should be a soft play area somewhere inside as we had to wait 4 and half hours for bus to airport and with a 4 year old a bit of a struggle!!

" We are a family of 4 with 2 young... "

We are a family of 4 with 2 young teenagers.the hotel is loveley very clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendley. Water park great fun and good pools, one where all the noise and entertainment is and one where you can just relax with no noise(only over 18s are aloud in that one). Good food and lots of it. I would say the only down side was that there was only a few evenings when the entertainment was realy good most of the time it was just ok.
The bus service into the town is very good (one about every 15-20 mins). the Town is a very busey port ,it is loveley to walk by the port . The only thing that is rather anoying in the town is that the shop keepers do their utmost to make you go into their shops, so you just have to take no notice of them. All in all we had a wonderful Hoilday and would love to go back again (we have already been 2 times!)

Returned from aqua fantasy on 8th september. It is by far the best sun holiday i have ever been on. I went with my partner and 2 1/2 year old daughter. The rooms were immaculate, and the cleaners did a fantastic job every day.
The food isn't fantastic but you we can't really complain it was nice enough to eat no one was poorly or had food poisoning, it just gets repetetive especially at lunch time.
The entertainment team are absolutely fantastic can not fault them at all. Our daughter loved doing all the dances and still does them at home, we even ended up buying the club cd.
The AI does stop at 11pm but you can fill your table up with drinks and they don't say anything.
We went on the SHOPAHOLICS trip, wouldn't recommend this as it was boring and a waste of a day really. We didn't like the market although we did get some good bargains, but its really smelly and they all try to touch you and get you to come and look at their stall, a bit intimidating really.
If you do want to go into kusadasi there is a bus which takes you there which picks you up from the hotel in the morning, it doesn't cost a lot, and i would strongly recommend that if you do do this then buy all your pop and snacks from here as it is less than half price of what they charge in the hotel, although we only got charged for what we used they didn't try to add things on.
Can't really say much else apart from if you're thinking of booking this hotel then do it cos we thought it was fantastic and are already thinking of booking again to go for 2 week in may .
