Submitted By: Miss T PughThe apartments are very basic and I struggled to do bottles with no kettle but that is the only fault I have of the whole holiday. The apartments are in a fantastic location as they are off the main road but close to the beach and a selection of restaurants (not that we ever used them as the food at the Sunshine was so fab!). The staff were all fantastic with my son and I often found him in the kitchen having a cuddle with the chef Michael or behind the bar with Eddie or Zenia.
I loved it and will definitely be going back again! I recommend Sept as it is hot but not too hot!

" We enjoyed the Sunshine apartments so... "
Submitted By: Mrs J SouthamI wrote to Olympic expressing my satisfaction with the holiday but my dissatisfaction with their Rep, emphasizing that I was NOT looking for compensation, and the only reply I received was a letter asking for my booking reference so that "they could look into my complaint". I certainly won't be using Olympic Holidays again - ever!
There is still an iffy step in the restaurant which many people fall off or down, and three years ago my husband warned them that it was dangerous for British people, who expect such steps to be edged with a yellow or white strip. Three years later nothing has been done about it and people are still falling off it and badly injuring themselves; this happened while we were there, but the Rep was not at all interested.
The Sunshine Apartments are perfectly adequate, and very well placed as far as we are concerned, on a quiet side road but with plenty of restaurants nearby. If we do go back there again, it would have to be in September rather than October, as the weather was not as good as we recalled from our previous visit at the end of October 2004. We had a couple of thunderstorms and a flash flood which prevented us getting out to dine one evening but was cleared up by the next morning.

Submitted By: Mrs N CoxThe bathroom was very dim as was the dressing table mirror so best to do your makeup on the (small) balcony in daylight before it goes dark! Air con cost 5 Euros a day and was a necessity. No probs with mozzies.
The pool was medium sized with a slide and a few sunloungers but as there was no breeze by the pool and the temperature (late August) was in the 40s, we went to the beach where there was a very slight breeze in the afternoons.
The restaurant has lovely food and friendly service. The location of the apartments was excellent as they are set back from the main road, down a side road, which means they are quieter but only two minutes walk from the main road and between five and ten minutes walk to the beach.
There are enough tavernas and bars for a week’s holiday although some are a bit scruffy and there seemed to be a lot of bars with football on big TV screens which is great for those that like it but not so good if you just want to chat over a drink. The nicest restaurant was at the Meni hotel. Their bar was nice too. There are a few shops along the main road and a much better selection in Kos Town.
You can catch a bus from a few points along the main road to Kos Town. It costs 1 euro 60 and takes 20 mins but bring Magicool and a fan as it’s very hot! Times are listed on the bus stops. Get off at the bus station in Kos Town and get it back from there too.
We got a taxi to the Lido waterpark about 15 mins away (the taxi rank is by the fountain roundabout by the beach) and had a great day there. It’s only a few years old so it is in great condition and was clean and quiet with no queues. It’s cheaper to go on a coach trip organised by the many trip specialists on the main road but the coach trip days are probably busier.

" Just come back from the Sunshine... "
Submitted By: Mrs L HolroydThe room we had (No. 17) was a one-bed apartment but was by far the biggest I had ever stayed in! They are basically furnished and don't have a kettle or much in the way of crockery but who wants to eat in anyhow?!
The balcony went on forever and was very private. Some of the other balconies were on ground level (opposite the swimming pool) and not so private. However, because there are only 25 apartments, everyone seemed to know each other after the first couple of days around the pool.
The guests were a mix of English and Dutch but everyone was very friendly and the kids all played together in the pool.
The apartments are family run and you instantly feel like one of them! It was so hot when we were there, 47 degrees Celsius one day, but Xenia and Eddie who worked in the taverna/bar were always ready to serve you with a smile!
Prices in the taverna were comparable, if not cheaper, with the other bars and restaurants and you get 10% off if you are a guest.
There are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from. Our favourites were Vassilis Restaurant, The Greek Kitchen and Meni Restaurant. There was also a good bakery serving fresh bread, cakes and pastries on a daily basis.
We also had a lovely English breakfast at Taka Taka Mam cafe (don't let the name put you off!!) This was located just off the square by the beach. The cheapest supermarket was called Konstantinos. When you get to the main street go right and follow the road up past the tavernas (about an 8 min walk).
The beach was a 10 minute walk away and the further left you went on the beach the quieter it was. We had a lovely spot where there were only 2 rows of sun beds and the lady who looked after them reserved us the one of our choice every day! It cost 6 euros for 2 beds and a brolly.
Every morning about 11am there was a van selling fresh fruit and a man selling fresh donuts from the bakery. In the afternoon the ice-cream/burger van arrived so you didn't have to move if you didn't want to.
Last, but not least, special thanks must go to Maria, the maid, who kept our apartment spotless. The bins were emptied every day and the sheets and towels were changed every other day.
I would definitely recommend these apartments for a relaxing family holiday.

" We have just returned from our... "
Submitted By: Mrs N BentonOur apartment was very basic but spacious and clean. We arrived in the early hours of Sunday morning and the only complaint that I have is that there was not any bottled water in the apartment.
Buy hey its Greece what can I say!
Sunshine apartments is a family run affair and to say they could not do enough for you is an understatement!
Xiena and Eddie are on hand morning till night to wait on your every whim..what ever you want they will get.
The pool is quite small and when all the fella's are playing water volley in the afternoon you take your life in your hands if you want to go in for a swim.
The apartment block is a short stroll from the main strip which consists of a selection of taverna's and cocktail bar's but no nightclubs which is a bonus if you’re our age LATE 30's.
There are the normal touristy shops and a few supermarkets.
The apartments are shared with British and Dutch visitors and I have to say everyone got on very well even the children interacted very well with each other.
We will be going back next year no question and the children are already looking forward to it!!

Submitted By: Mr M MawsonThe rooms were very clean and big but not really designed for cooking a meal in and could do with air con in both rooms (no kettle or toaster).
We ate at our own taverna 3 or 4 times where the food was excellent and a reasonable price plus you get 10% discount. All the tavern’s we visited were good especially liked Skala on the beach (the lamb Kleftico was to die for).
The beach was lovely with plenty of sunbeds and shades, a must as it was 40 degrees + every day for 5-6 euro's.
We certainly would go there again and liked Tingaki low key night life had two 14 year old boys with us who both loved it. The new water park/Lido is well worth a visit for 17 Euro's book in town in the square (cheapest).
Thanks to all at the Sunshine Apartments.

" Took a short break to the Sunshine... "
Submitted By: Mr SA MarkhamThe cooking facilities are basic but with a 10% discount in the apartments own Taverna who needs or wants to cook. All but one of the staff are family and from the moment you arrive you are taken into the fold.
The staff are superb and I would be remiss if I did not give mention to Michael the chef who produces some mouth watering food, not forgetting Xenia and Eddie who work in the Taverna and round the pool, serving you any snacks or drinks you require, always with a smile.
The apartments are about 50 meters off the main Tingaki road, which gives them a nice feeling of privacy. The pool area is average size but sufficient due to the fact there are only 25 apartments.
Everything you could possibly want is just around the corner; supermarkets, bars, Tavernas and the beach are all within a 5 minute walk.
I am trying to book again for next year but am finding it difficult, as I am unable to find next year on the Olympic site, BUT will definitely persist.
I would 100% recommend these apartments to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday.

- Would definitely recommend the Sunshine Apartments - no real critisisms whatsoever. Attractive and well maintained outside areas, good location, helpful staff and good restaurant.
- The only very minor fault is that the accommodation 1s rather basic. Although the complex deserved it's 3* rating for it's excellent restaurant and attractive pool area, I personally feel the rooms were more like 2*. Basic, but adequate and clean.
- Close walk to all amenities (bars, restaurants, shops, beach etc).
- Pleasant low key resort, suitable mainly for couples. Quite small, but compact with a reasonable selection of tavernas/bars/restaurants. Didn't have a bad meal - enjoyed the food very much. One recommendation is 'The New Rodini' on the right hand side of the main street when walking from the beach. Quite a way up from the beach, but not from the apartments.
- Prices reasonable. Large beer 2 - 2.5 Euros. Main Course meal as low as 4-5 Euros, but generally between 7 - 9 (Steaks a little more expensive).
- Weather excellent. We enjoyed a cloudless, hot week in May.
- One very valuable piece of advice though - there is only one ATM machine in Tingaki, and as a result, is frequently EMPTYof cash!! I tried it twice within a week to be informed at the end of each transaction that the machine was 'Temporarily Unavailable'! There are two other ATMs in the next inland village of Zipari, but it is a distance of around 2.5 km from the Sunshine, so be prepared!
- All in all, a lovely resort and apartments. Definitely the place to go for a relaxing break.
Advice: Ideal for a relaxing break. Particularly good for couples.
Activities: Enjoyed the food and service in every restaurant we visited
Good for: Beach
