Olympus Hotel

This holiday did not get off to a good start as the bus driver dropped us on the main road at the Fiesta Park Hotel and indicated to us that our hotel was around the corner he then duly left us stranded there, with a two year old baby, a buggy and 3 suitcases my daughter and I struggled to find our hotel, eventually I went into the Carlos 1 hotel and thankfully the kind receptionist there could speak English and gave me directions, After climbing two very steep hills on an extremely hot day we arrived at the Olympus Hotel.
To say the young man on reception was welcoming would be telling a lie, he quite clearly ignored us to attend to a Spanish gentleman who did at least have the courtesy to acknowledge that we were in front of him, this however meant nothing to the young man as he continued to ignore us.
On first arrival the area where the hotel is located is a big let down, however once we settled in and found our bearings we were quite happy. The hotel is in a residential area and you get the impression that you are not central to anywhere, this is not the case it is actually very well situated for both Poientte and Levantte beach with lots of shops and cafes etc Min's away, a 20- 30 minute walk takes you to where all the action is if you are young and looking to party. The hotel itself is spotless and the food was very enjoyable, the restaurant staff are one of the most pleasant that I have come across and are especially child friendly. Our room was kept spotless for the week we were there with clean towels and bedding not being a problem. On the downside the entertainment is geared for Spanish visitors and the rooms have no sound proofing, this was only a problem through the day at night time it was thankfully very quiet. Over all our stay at the hotel was very enjoyable and our one complaint would have to be directed to the young gentleman receptionist on duty on the afternoon of 28th June, perhaps a course on manners would be advantageous.
Our only other complaint would have to be with "On The Beach Holidays" who charged me £58.00 to transfer us from the airport to our hotel, NOT the wrong hotel, surely if they know that the bus does not have road access to the hotel then they have a duty to explain this to their customers and provide them with directions, we were fortunate not to arrive late at night, how scary would that have been with a two year old baby.
If you do not want to be on the main thoroughfare, then the Olympus Hotel in my opinion is not a bad choice. Enjoy Benidorm we did.
