I stayed at the playa dorada along with my husband and 2 year old son. My parents also came with us. Overall we had a fantastic time. The hotel is in a fantastic location right on the beach and cala llonga is very pretty. The rooms were cleaned every day apart from monday and was done to an excellent standard. Food was ok there was lots of choice but unfortunately tended to be cold a lot of the time and items were served for breakfast from the evening meal before! The hotel staff were very friendly and provided great entertainment for the kids.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at cala llonga and the playa dorada and would definately consider returning I would certainly recommend it for families with small children.

My wife and I spent from the 21st September 2008 to the 28th September 2008 half board at the Playa Dorada in Cala Llonga, Ibiza. I feel I must start by complimenting the picturesque view of the bay and the idyllic surroundings of the hotel, which are simply beautiful. We were told by the rep on the bus on the way to the hotel that it hadn't rained for 2 months, it then rained on 3 of the 7 days we were there, although it was still relatively warm and pleasant in the evenings.
Our room was quite small and the double bed we requested appeared to have been sawn in half upon our arrival, we also had a fabulous view of the car park. We arrived at around 6.00am and we were advised that a manager would be able to find us another room with a double bed the next day, however we decided to simply push the beds together and accept the room we were given for the week, as we did not plan to spend much time in our room. The weather then unfortunately dictated that we were to spend slightly more time in our room than we would have preferred, please consider in this circumstance that the T.V has only 2 English speaking channels ( BBCworld news and CBeebies/BBC3).
They are several very complimentary reviews about the food at this hotel on this website and we had hoped that the food would at least be OK. My wife in particular found the food overall very disappointing. At breakfast they were days when the food was cold, beans were not cooked, bread/croissants had mould, mushrooms did not resemble any mushrooms I have ever eaten and every day was the same. They did though have an omelette station. Dinner apart from the occasional nice piece of fish or pork at the carvery was of very poor quality and this experience of going half board for the first time means that we will only consider returning to a Spanish hotel on a self-catering basis. You can go All-Inclusive for £20.00 pppn, although in hindsight we were very pleased that we did not 'upgrade'.
The drinks in the hotel are reasonably priced given the poor conversion of the pound/euro. A bottle of San Miguel or a glass of house wine is about 2 euros and a generously served vodka and mixer is around 3-4 euros, certainly no more expensive than our local. The entertainment is hotel based and we enjoyed most of it, in particular it seems quite popular with children of all ages. Although not to our preference the hotel do also provide entertainment during the day and we agree with the positive reviews of the hotel entertainers, particularly Rene.
We went to the 'welcome meeting' on the morning of our arrival and we decided to go on the Sunset Cruise to experience what we were reliably informed was the second best sunset in the world. It rained on the Tuesday postponing the Sunset Cruise until the Thursday. The catamaran was more like a run-down ferry and we were not impressed. Due to cloud and light rain we did not really get to see much of a sunset, however we found the guide both informative and entertaining in the circumstances. After around 45-60 mins round trip of looking through the could and trying to imagine a beautiful sunset we tried to relax and drank our cava from a plastic cup whilst returning to the harbour. We were advised that our reps (2) would be taking us to a nearby family friendly bar. Conveniently, as we overheard the reps were wanting to celebrate a colleagues birthday we were informed upon returning that this bar was closed and they were going to go off somewhere else. They advised everyone to make their own arrangements and to meet by the waterfall in a couple of hours. This didn't impress anyone (particularly those with young children) and we got the impression that no-one enjoyed the rest of their evening. Rather than join the guests in interrogating the reps we went off together and managed to have a romantic drink or two at a nice bar near the harbour. We also thought that they must have been aware that the weather in San Antonio was not going to be good enough in evening for the cruise to go ahead, I would be very surprised if anyone would have gone in hindsight.
Overall we would consider going back to Ibiza sometime in the future, although we would not consider the Playa Dorada or a half board holiday. The nice food at most of the local restaurants and the choice available at local shops would be sufficient for a week or two self catering on what is a beautiful island. My wife also returned with food poisoning, although we are not sure if this is from the hotel breakfast on our last day or a nearby resort restaurant.

Very disappointed in standard of food at hotel, evening meal was only ever luke warm and over cooked and dried out as there was never any water in the ban-maries. Food left over at night appeared at breakfast. This made for some weird additions to the breakfast menu. Best thing was that at breakfast you could have an omlette made to order. It seemed the good food was spoilt by the way it was cooked, joints were hacked at instead of sliced and left overs appeared the next night in some sort of sauce.
Area around the childrens paddling pool were not kept as clean as they should have been, with litter and cigerette ends lying about for days.
Room we had on 5th floor was very noisy being near the lift and next to the cleaner's room where they seemed to stop overnight on some nights and if our bathroom door was open we could hear them very clearly talking.
Cala Llonga is very pretty but 10 mins and you have walked all round it. Trips on the boats to other resorts are worthwhile but expensive. Local bus service seemed to be a cheaper alternative.

I came back from ibiza a few weeks ago.I am aged 14 and i loved the dorada hotel. It was fab! i went with my family and we were put in a small room to start with, but soon enough we went to reception and asked for a bigger room which we had booked for. soon enough we got the room we wanted with a lovely sea view and a very generous sized room with 4 single beds. it was great for the amount of time we were actually in the rooms. the staff were always willing to help, and the food was at a good standard. there was plenty to choose from. not to mention cake at 4:00pm! it was great having the drinks all included as you could get them anytime you wanted. the beach was lovely, there were jelly fish about quite a lot but that never put me off as i loved being in the sea, i actually got stung on the foot but you just get some vinagar for that and its ok. We went on the ferry to st.euallia which was very nice definatly if you love fashion as i got a few pacha items from the famous pacha store! there are plenty of markets about and supermarkets. the ferry comes about every hour to take you back. entertainement at night time wasnt my cup of tea as it was mainly aimed at younger people. towards the end of the night was parrot shows, bingo, quizes etc.. but it didnt seem to take a liking to it, so we were told that mr cairos was a very famous bar and everyone enjoyed there night there, so we went and it was amazing i couldnt get enough of the drag acts they were so funny, diamond class they were called definatly worth going to see, i got there autograph while i was there! there was also bingo and hypnotists on so dont miss out on any of thoose! also the man who does the music was very funny to! overall i would say my stay at ibiza was fantastic and i would definatly want to go back soon! enjoy your holiday as you hopefully wont be dissapointed!

This hotel is as everyone says in the reviews. I'll start with the hotel itself
Plenty to do, there are a number of pools for kids and adults, and the beach is just at your doorstep. The rooms were extremely clean especially for my standards and the house keeping staff are very friendly. They could do with a few more parasols with the sunbeds. I found myself having to wake up early and lay my towel on sunbeds with a parasol as the midday sun is unrelenting and if you got stuck without one it wasnt great.
I wanted a sea view room but didnt get one sadly, however, I asked at reception and amazingly a day later when one became free we were moved and I can say the view was stunning. If you do get a non sea view room I recommend being extra nice to reception and im sure they will move you.
Food at the restaurant is great. The food does become more or less the same or similar things from day to day so dont go nuts on trying everything in the first couple of days or you might be a bit disappointed later on in the week. The variety is great though. Kids will find something they like.
Hotel provides entertainment every night which is good fun. You really dont need to leave the hotel. They provide things for kids to do during the day too so parents can relax kids free for a few hours.
One down side is that there are only two small lifts but i was happy to use the stairs for some exercise! if you have small kids you may find yourself waiting for a while specially during peak times like brekkie and dinner! restaurant , reception and rooms are all on differnt floors, so if you are on a low floor just use the stairs!!
the beach is OK by my standards. nothing like sri lanka anyway!! there are jelly fish so most days there is no swimming...or at your own risk while we were there anyway.
ADVICE....go all inclusive! food is expensive and so are drinks and icecream. do not go half board and then all inclusive when you get to the hotel because they will charge you 20 euros per day per person. 12 for kids. and this does not include drinks with evening meal - soft or alcoholic!
If you are looking for different beaches to go to, take a bus to Es Cana or Santa Euralia. they both have lovely beaches too. buses can add up to alot so you probably wouldnt want to do it every day.
PLEASE do not buy spanish chocolate from duty free or spanish biscuits for that matter . they are disgusting! i ended up wasting alot of money and all of it went in the bin.
Ok so over all the holiday was lovely and would go back to this hotel anyday. it was worth the money spent.

We went to Cala Llonga for 1week, it was a great and interesting place. Even though you could not walk out of the town, there was buses all the time.
The Playa Dorada hotel was excellent. They had lots of choice at meals and plenty for children. The rooms had a very good air-con system, We all enjoyed the stay and i would defernetly recomend it to familys with children. The staff are really friendly i would help you with everything. There is buses to Ibiza town,Bossa (which has a waterpark) and it goes lots of other places for really cheap. i would give it 9/10.

2 Adults and two children 15 and 12.
Just returned having spent 2 weeks at the hotel. It was absolutely fabulous. Even though we were on floor 7 our balcony more than compensated for such a high floor. The balcony was at the front of the hotel and was huge. Sun all day. You got a panoramic view of the bay.It was fab.
The rooms were very clean and they were cleaned frequently. The curtain came down one morning and we advised reception and they fixed it in no time at all which was good.
I can not comment on other peoples reports about hearing people in the next room due to the location of our room. It was beside the lift and we thought we would hear it all night which we did not which was great.
There was two pools and a part separated off for smaller children so they do not go out of there depth. There are plenty of sunbeds but if you wanted one right beside the pool you would have to get up early to reserve your place.
The food was nice and plenty to choose from. We did not have breakfast but this was mainly due to the fact we were all inclusive and chose to have lunch instead.
Plenty of activities to take part in and the water polo when down well with guests. there is air rifle shooting, yoga, pilates, darts, pool, table tennis and beach football. There was also aqua areobics. I was there during the olympics so they even had an olympic day on the beach which included a sack race. The entertainment staff came round shouting what activity was on so no one would miss out. The entertainment staff were great and very friendly. Remo in particualr was great with the kids, very friendly and full of energy and enthusiam. Joly was great as well.
Even though cala llonga is a quiet place there are plenty of bars and restaurants to go to. Mister Cairos showbar is worth a visit and open late. The hypnotist was great. The stand up bingo is fun as well.
Bus service frequent so a trip to ibiza town is worth a visit. Even took a trip to san antonio (bus to ibiza town and a connecting bus from there). You can even go to ibiza town by boat.
This hotel is aimed at families and couples who do not want the hustle and bustle of a larger place. Staff are friendly and reception staff were helpful. i would go back to this hotel and it is highly recommended.

Just returned from a brilliant 2 week stay at “Sirenis Playa Dorada Hotel, Cala Llonga”. We were a family of 6, 2 adults, children aged 15, 14, 9 & 2. The hotel was excellent, it was spotlessly clean and the maids cleaned your room and changed your beds everyday except Monday. The rooms were a bit on the small side but we were never in them much. The lifts were slow/broken sometimes but just be patient or walk. The food was great, full English for breakfast or warm fresh rolls, omelettes and pastries. For lunch pizzas, burgers, chips, salad. Then lots of choice for dinner, freshly carved meat, pasta, chicken, coleslaws, salad, and fish. No one can say there wasn’t enough choice! We went half board and had to pay for drinks at dinner which was a down point.
There were plenty of activities during the day, which were well organised and varied everyday. We really enjoyed water polo, darts, air rifle shooting, and pool and beach football. The entertainment team were brilliant, the kids especially loved Remo as he was full of energy, but also thought Jen, Joly and Nicole were amazing. They were all tireless and great with the kids.
In the evening there were professional shows which included people dancing or owl shows and parrot shows, if not then the entertainment team prepared the shows and did things like “Grease” which were fantastic. Every night there was a kids disco before the shows, and sometimes bingo, which my daughter won 100 euros on and a crazy kid’s disco CD.
The resort was lovely, quiet and small just how we liked it. Try “Flippers” bar for a nice meal out.
The beach was a few steps down from the hotel; the sand was sometimes too hot to walk on. The sea was sometimes dirty and constantly stuff tangled around your legs. It was ideal for children though as it was shallow. However, beware of the jellyfish! The pool was lovely and clean, only downside it was too deep, with not much of a shallow end. Although there was a children’s pool.
We would love to go back, only we hope the entertainment team will still be there. We had a fabulous time and would recommend the hotel to families.

Just returned from a fantastic 11 day holiday at the Playa Dorado. The reception staff were lovely, very helpful - all speak english. The room was a bit on the small side for 3 of us, but the view from the balcony overlooking the bay was amazing. We were on the 3rd floor which was great, not too far but not too near the entertainment area. The lift did have a habit of breaking down, so if you are on a higher floor - beware. The room was cleaned 6 days a week, bedsheets and towels were changed at the same time. No problems with cleanliness anywhere in the hotel, it was immaculate. We were on a half board basis - the meals were lovely, breakfast is a good selection of cereals, ommelettes, egg, bacon, fruits etc.. The evening meals were great - I'm vegetarian and I was spoilt for choice. There's a good selection of meats, always a fish choice, paella, pizza, chips, salads, fruits, desserts - it was all lovely. And the waiting staff were really friendly, great with kids. The only thing that I didn't agree with was that if you were half board you had to pay for drinks during your evening meal - even water and soft drinks. The activities during the day were well organised and varied, my kids really got involved and enjoyed them - boules, football, water polo, kids clubs, air rifle shooting, darts, pool etc.. and the entertainment team were superb, especially Remo and Joly - they really looked out for the kids to make sure they were having a good time.
I have been to Ibiza quite a few times so I already knew that Cala Llonga is a quiet resort, aimed at families. There are some lovely restaurants and snack bars, and a few bars that have entertainment on if you get fed up of the hotel entertainment. Or go into Ibiza Town if you want to sample somewhere busy.
The beach is amazing, very clean, white, 'hot' sand and the sea is gorgeous, very clear, and shallow for quite a while - ideal for the kids. But beware of Jellyfish, the odd one gets close enough to the shore to sting - a few people did get stung by them, but not enough to put you off going into the sea.
All in all, we had a fab time and are seriously thinking about booking for next year already.

Party consisted of family with 2 small children. |Hotel situated in very pretty bay. lovely location. Hotel staff fantastic. Entertainment staff tireless and great with the childrens. Kids club mainly face painting. Problem if you pack a capsule wardrobe!!
Thomas Cook reps absolutely useless. Dreadful time at departure, put cases on no less then 3 different coaches before finally setting off for airport.
Hotel itself clean, rooms small with not much storage space. Lots of steps. Only two lifts and prone to breaking down. The hotel is deceptive. The pools, bar and entertainment areas are on -2 floor so where ever you are situated you will have to negotiate steps. Steps also to beach. Loads of jelly fish ALL THE TIME. I would only rate this as a 2 star for meals. Very basic, limited choice. Lunch time is in bar with choice of burgers, pizza, sandwiches or salad (plated). Meat not cooked well. Breakfast ok. usual choices, raw bacon however. best are omlettes.
It was definitely one of those 'make the best of it' holidays.

Stayed at the Playa Dorada 20/27 July 2008. The hotel was absolutely wonderful, spotlessly clean with staff working aroung the clock to maintain it to high standards. Food excellent with a variety of meals and extensive choices. The hotel staff were very helpful, polite and courteous at all times. There is entertainment each evening. The hotel is situated at the top of a steep hill (not a lengthy distance but unsuitable for those with walking difficulties) Local buses are very good (the 15 and the 41). The area itself is lovely with a breathtakingly beautiful beach/cove. The tourists are mainly families and young couples, it is quiet and peaceful but still has sufficient in terms of nice bars and restaurants and gift type shops.
Boat trips go from the beach/cove area about 50 metres from the hotel. The hotel is situated just above the cove and is accessed via approx 18 steps from the hotel. We would definately go back to Cala Longa and would recommend the hotel. There is a minor issue in that there are only two lifts which can be very busy at peak times so be sure to time your run right to avoid such times, it`s not really an issue, can be a bit frustrating but `hey ho` you`re on your holidays and shouldn`t let it be a problem. It worked for us avoiding the busiest times.Hope you have a lovely holiday, we did!

Excellent family holiday. Stayed all inclusive for 1 week at the start of the summer holidays, 2 adults (both 27) and one 6 yr old. We were looking for a quiet, good value family holiday and we weren't disappointed.
Our room was on the 2nd floor, balcony didn't get any sun which I was initially disappointed about but was soon glad of the shade after a full day in the sun!
Food was nice, I'm vegetarian and always found something, the puddings were delicious!
I do not drink alcohol but my partner was pleased to see the local draft offered on all inclusive was San Miguel. I would recommend all inclusive as prices for food and drink in the hotel and resort were steep. Apparently this is common all over Spain with the Euro being so poor - a bottle of Magners 4 Euros!
Lovely pool area, had no trouble getting a sun bed any time during the day. The adult pool is very deep but seperate from the kids pool so good for the safety of the little ones.
The bar staff and entertainers were fantastic. On an evening a waiter served at your table so no queueing at the bar. The kids entertainers were fantastic - our little one loved the mini disco so much she ought the CD.
Excellent location also, good not having to walk far from the beach all sandy!
Hoping to go back soon
