We booked our holiday at the Viva Tropic in December 2008 to suit two families for seven persons in all. The Thomas Cook staff asked us the usual questions, would we like a sea view, pool view etc. We obviously said yes. Flight details changed just a couple of months after... more

We booked Viva Tropic for a winter walking holiday in the sun and weren`t disappointed! Staff at reception were helpful, the hotel was nicely updated but the self catering appartments refurb has been shelved apparently for 2009. The apartments were beautifully clean... more

Viva Tropic-Alcudia Before I start to review this particular Hotel I think that everyone should know how BMI Baby can offer low cost flights. We were a party of 4 with an overall 80 kilo allowance and flying home had 79 kilos overall, but we were charged 120 euros for... more

I can't believe that there would be any negative comments about the Viva Tropic. We went for a week at the end of August 2007, and we loved it so much that we booked again in November to go this year too. (We are actually going for 11 nights on Saturday August 9th). We... more

Excellent holiday for families. The holiday brochure does not do this place justice. It should be 4 star and not 3 star. It was extremely clean and safe for the kids. My 7 and 4 year old girls had a brilliant time in the kids club and with the reps who work very hard from... more

We visited as a family of 4. The lobby has been refurbished, and there is a new adult only pool. The general appearance is reasonable. Staff are friendly. It is very family friendly, especially for kids from 4 to 11. But not for teenagers or couples. The surrounding area is... more

Nice hotel, but......................
I will try to be fair in my assessment of this Hotel. 1st of all, this is the first time we had to book a vacation during the holiday season since our child is now a school kid. We always booked a higher standard which during vacation time is out of our price range. Therefore, I can only compare it to what I know. The good stuff: The hotel itself was nice. The reception area, bar area and eating area, were all large and roomy. The food was plentiful and good but became repetitive after a few days. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful at... more
Great time overall (but pool too crowded)
We booked the holiday on the strength of the reviews here. We have a 5 yr, 3yr and 1yr and they had a fantastic time - as kids do. The staff in the kids club were brilliant. The pony rides were the hightlight. The shows in the evening varied in quality but done with enthusiasm. The quibbles: Biggest problem is the pool area, it's packed. For the number of rooms the pool area is not adequate (in mid July). The park along side is a good overflow and nicely shaded and the beach is a short walk. With the one bedroom apts. the... more
great hotel but poor nightlife
We stayed in the Viva Tropic for two weeks from 22nd june 2007, I could not fault the hotel for the staff, cleanliness and location the only thing that I found poor was the poolside bar closes at 11pm...and the resort itself seems to close around midnight. The rooms were small but very clean and suited our needs as we only used as a base. It was nice and easy to get sun loungers which makes a change, but not if you wanted to sit by the pool. All round I would reccomend the Viva Tropic and would return at sometime in the future... more
great stay
What a great stay entertainment stay were brilliant, clean rooms , rececption stay great, food good, what a shame the bar staff waiters/waitresses let the hotel down .
Great place to stay !
We have just returned from our second visit in 2 years at the Viva Tropic and I can say that it is as good now as it was then. We travelled with our 2 children , ages 3 and 1 year . This hotel is in a great location - only 5 mins walk from a beautiful sandy beach and 10 mins walk from the Marina. The staff are all fluent in English among other languages and cannot do enough to help you. The evening entertainment has something for everyone and both our children enjoyed it every evening. We asked for a poolview room so that we could... more
Two weeks at the Viva Tropic
Viva Topic: My wife and I stayed in the Viva Tropic from 3/9/06 to 23/9/06.After a nightmare at Palma airport , where we had to wait hours for our suitcases we finally arrived at the Viva Tropic. The rooms were well maintained and very clean , with the cleaners doing an excellent job. We were Self catering which suited ourselves so I cant comment on the hotels catering. When we required the hotel staff , they were helpfull and pleasant. Although we spent a lot of time at the beach , we did spend a few days around the Pool and its... more
Good value holiday
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Viva Tropic and we had a lovely family holiday. This is our 3 visit to a Viva complex and It won't be our last. There hotel ratings are accurate, so when I booked Viva Tropic I know it was 3 Star. The other’s we've stayed in have been 4 Star so I know it would be a little more basic than before. The staff from check in to departure where good. The rooms are clean the staff friendly and helpful. We requested a ground floor room with a pool view next to each other…isn’t that what everyone asks... more
Not in high season.
The Viva Tropic has many things in it's favour. Location is good, 200 metres from the beach and a selection of shops, restaurants and bars. Cleanliness is excellent, couldn't fault a single thing. Staff are as good as anywhere else I have ever been. Kids clubs and the entertainment are first class and there is definitely something there for everyone. There are two downsides to the Viva Tropic however, the size of the one bedroom apartment is one but it could be overcome. With a 17 year old and a 10 year old it was a bit of a tight... more
Excellent Holiday at the Viva Tropc
Staff, waiters and entertainers were brilliant. They all worked really hard and were excellent with the children. Great location, 15 mins walk to waterpark, beach 5 mins walk, lots of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. The facilities at the hotel are great. Pool is fantastic. Food at hotel good and their entertainment was spot on. Room basic but exceptionally clean. You can hire beach towels, iron, hairdryer (so don't take with you). We had a really good holiday with our 2 children aged 12 and 8 - would definately go... more
Disappointed
Very disappointed all round with this holiday. This picture of this accomodation in the travel brouchue and on this web site does not show that the large majority of the rooms are situated within a 6 storey barrack like building. The holiday was booked on the basis that we wanted accomodation no higher than 3 storeys high. Our room was on the 5th storey next to a service lift, which woke all at the crack of dawn as cleaning staff arrived and spent half an hour riding up and down moving mops, buckets cleaning skips to the various... more
Management response from Celine777

As VIVA TROPIC hotel manager, I am very satisfied of having a great deal of repetears guests, in all months that the hotel is opened. In some months we have about 30% of the rooms occupied by repeaters guests. Concerning the guest who was in our hotel, we do not understand that, if it is true that they did not like neither the hotel nor Puerto Alcudia itself, why they did not ask their touroperator representative, to change into another zone in Mallorca. Concerning the entertainment, there is information about it at the reception, as there are some big boards at the wall with the schedule of all activities organised for every day at every time, for miniclub, teenagers or adults. All the shows displayed in the hotel (by our own entertainers, by our flying team between Viva Hotels or by external professional shows) have a great response from the guests, who are very enthusiastic. About the photos in the brochure, it is shown the lower building, but this does not imply that all the rooms are going to be there. If they would have asked to have a room in the small building, perhaps they could have had one there. On the other side, for example, nothing is said that the rooms equipment is much better than expected, as all rooms have been fully renovated after brochures were done. Concerning the bar service and room cleaning, it happens exactly the same as said before: every fifteen days an external enterprise (which does not belong to Viva Hotels) comes to all hotels and make lots of questions to the guests, about the departments service, food, equipment, etc. We can show at any time that we have always very good results coming from opinions from the guests. Related to Alcudia itself, and specially to hotel Viva Tropic, this one is located near the harbour (only 5 minutes away walking), and only 2 minutes away from the beach. In Puerto de Alcudia there are lots of differents restaurants, which suit to all differents money levels, from fast food restaurants to extremely distinguished famous restaurants. About the beach, we should only say that most beaches have the “blue flag”, international award not given by us, but by the European Community, done following very stricted rules concerning the water, sand, environment, first aid services, etc. To sum up, and as it is shown in the enclosed graphics about the satisfaction from our guests in the hotel, there are many reasons to consider that almost all people are very satisfied with their holidays in our hotel and with Puerto Alcudia. We do not know all reasons for the disappointment, but what is sure, is that our staff always do their best to hear the guests reasons, give full explanations and help looking for a good and quick solution or response. All the staff, as always, will be waiting for guests coming here, to offer them the best choice to enjoy their special holidays. THIS IS OUR MAIN GOAL. Best regards, VIVA TROPIC MANAGER
