For a start - it is NOT a holiday for families. The hill up there is not fun when you have to wheel and drag your cases up the MASSIVE hill which you don't even get help with. Then we found out that you have to pay 110 euros for the air conditioning - for 2 weeks - which... more

Have just returned from two week stay at Koni Village and have to say that the place was a complete dissapointment. The climb uphill into the complex is completely understated in any brochure and we would strongly recommend that anyone with a child buggy, young children or... more

Booked Koni Village because it was the last available apartment package in our price range, for our dates and with a direct flight to Crete (End of May 2009). So suffice to say, we weren't expecting much. As it happened, we were very pleasantly surprised. We had a... more

Excellent Choice!
Myself and my sister stayed her for a week in July 2006. The service, apartment, location, food, drink etc all are excellent! The hill that is much talked about is about 300 yards into the village at a 50degree incline, not a big issue if you are fit and well. Once inside the village the steps to our third floor apartment was only troublesome when it came to luggage. Stalis is a lovely town and the food on offer is excellent and great value. The service supplied by the locals is second to none. Avoid the notion of the day trip to Santorini, very long day .. 4.5hours on a dirty overcrowded ferry going and the same on the return. Santorini is beautiful but the time spent on the island is less than 3 hours!!
Brilliant
Brilliant stay! After reading the previous reviews i was a bit weary especially at the thought of the mountainous hill everyone kept mentioning. It was a fantactic place and the hill was no bother at all! The apartments were so clean and the staff were so friendly. Next time i go back to Crete i will be staying there without a doubt. It was so handy to everywhere! 5mins from Malia and Hersonosis and a 2 min walk from Stalis. Excellent 5******
brilliant apartments would recommend!
These apartments are brill, they are fairly new and a good size. The staff are very friendly the best ive ever come across. they are always happy considering the hours they work. The only thing i would say about the apartments is that they are on a hill and the one we had didn't have a good view. we were facing onto the back of the block in front but this worked to our advantage as the room was cool during the day so no need for air conditioning! There is a main road out side the apartments but the pool is built back from it so you can even hear it. Stalis itself is fab lots of pubs and places to eat. overall great holiday would definatly go back.
loved the koni village
we stayed near the top of the hill of koni village we had a lovely view of stalis and the beach we went on octopber 18 and stayed for a week we did eat out in very nice places we did also walk down in to malia which was very lively we hired a car and went to places further away we had a great time
Well worth a visit!
Ok two things constantly crop up about this complex, the hill and the main road. Firstly the hill - you are not in the foothills of the Himalayas and although fairly steep, it takes no more than a couple of minutes to get up (if you are in one of the higher apartments) Obviously people with walking difficultys, those on 30 fags a day and those on first name terms with the pie shop owners would struggle, but your average person shouldn`t find it too difficult. Next, the main road. It is not the M25 or the M6!!! It is a two lane main road that is quite busy at times. Using the same level of common sense you would use at home should get you safely across. Obvious factors like they drive on the other side and inebriation have to be considered. The complex itself is clean, with well maintained gardens. There are two pools, a larger one near the bar which is the busiest, and a smaller one near the entrance which is quieter and quite nice. The bar prices are 2.7euro for a large beer and 2.2 for a small beer. We didn`t use the restuarant. The on site shop stocks pretty much all that you need, but is more expensive than those in the village. The rooms were cleaned twice in our week, the towels and linen were also changed twice. The apartments were basic and clean. The air con will cost you 55 euro and the safe 10 euro. Stalis itself is a 10 minute walk away. You can either cut through the cactus beach hotel or go down the T junction at the Coach and `orses. We didn`t get a bad meal in the week we were there, we ate at El Greco, Baywatch, Capricciosa, Katerina (x2) and the Chicken House (X2) (avoid the prawn cocktail at the Chicken House!!). Drinks wise, The Dolphin Club (left at beach road T junction) is a blatant rip off - good talker, miserable measures with sky high prices. Elsewhere, you can get a pint for 1.5 euro - 2 and a cocktail for 2.5 -4.5 euro. You pay more at the joints right on the sea front. On the beach we used Dwyers Irish Bar where two beds, a brolly and some light lunch was 4 euros. We went to the water park at Anopolis (Water City). We got two adults and a child with transport for 55 euros from the Exchange Lady down from Coach and `orses. However bus ride took 1 hour 10 mins to get there - due to pick ups. Far better to hire a car for a couple of days and do it that way( 20 euros= bus, car = 35euros for two days). The water park was great and (even) I enjoyed it!!! All in all we enjoyed Stalis it wasn`t that busy to be a hassle, they didn`t trouble you too much to frequent their bars etc. We would definately return to the Koni Village. From what i seen, it is one of the nicer/ quieter places to stay in Stalis. We were there from 2 - 9 August 2005.
lovely appartments
I stayed here in June 05. It was a great place. Our room was near the bottom of the hill - thankfully! The rooms were basic, but had everything we needed and were nice clean. The birds in the morning though were SO loud. They sing constantly for hours - a most annoying wake up call. I think they were nesting in our wall! The pool was great, although can get quite busy. The smaller pool at the front of the hotel was very slippy, full of insects and was best avoided. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was even a man who took your bags up the hill in a pick-up truck. I would def go back to Koni Village, although the nightlife is better in Hersonasis, which is about 10 or 12 euro away in a taxi. Malia is within walking distance but has a very young-drunk-mini skirt wearing crowd!! Stalis has lovely shops and plenty of bars and restaurants. Would recommend the Knoi Village to anyone thinking of Crete.
Would definately recommend
I really enjoyed my 2 week break at Koni. For a relaxing break and an enjoyable holiday in Crete this is for you. Easy walking distance, 10 mins, into Stalis which has a nice variety of bars and restaurants including a really good chinese (situated more to the left side of Stalis). A nice evening stroll through Stalis takes you along the road to Malia or you can easily get a taxi from reception at the Apartments. Accommodation was v good. V handy having the mini market on site. The pool was a good size and depending on how early you get up there's a good choice of sunbeds. V nice surroundings and the complex is nicely decorated and laid out. I would def recommend this and would have gone back this year if only the flight was on a Saturday!
Fantastic!
I managed to get a last minute deal to the Koni apartmants in Stalis after having my heart set on staying in Malia! I couldnt have been more impressed! The rooms were clean and fresh. The lanscape around the hotel is lovely, staff are friendly and helpfull, pools are clean :) The apartments are on a hill and this may cause a problem for some people...but our 2 bedroom apartment had breathtaking views over the beach. Stalis town is a good 10 minutes walk away so you really need to be fit to stay here if you want to venture to the beach/out at night. Because the hotel is on a hill, it gets a nice breeze off the coast which really makes the hot days and nights more pleasant. I assure you that you will love the Koni apartments, especially if you want a week or two of relaxation :)
Great Greek Days
Great 2 wks at Koni Village. Staff helpful and accomodation good. Only problem would be having an appartment blocks 8 -10 which are up a very steep incline. However staff were helpful and moved accomodation to a lower level near small pool. Area had good restraunts and our favourite was Dianomeas on beach road. Great food and great staff. Entertainment in itself. Would recommend it to anyone but the incline at Koni should be bourne in mind if you are not fully fit. Would return tommorow.
luvin' the koni village
While going stay at the koni village in stalis, crete for the sixth year running tomorrow morning, i never get tired of all the very friendly staff that work there. it has two brilliant swimming pools, a big one, and a small one with a diving board. it also has two snack bars and a restaraunt with wonderfull food. The koni village has the most amazing landscape view of the beach which is about 5 mins away. and the best thing is there are loads and loads of restaraunts and bars about everywhere so you wont need to worry about what to eat. one of my favorite restaraunts there is called "El Greco" they do bout every dish you could want. and one of my favorite bars is called "the beach comber bar" they have wonderful cocktails there and other different drinks there to, you even get free popcorn there and every night is a karaoki. over all i think its the best place to go for a holiday and i would give it 10/10.
