Absolutely Fantastic!!
from laurac11
We arrived late night at the hotel, and walked into a well presented reception, where we were checked in quickly. We jumped into a lift and went up to the 5th floor, we were in room 535, we had a view of the mountains and sea. The room was immaculate, nicely decorated, with 2 beds, a sofa bed and a chair. There is a mini fridge in the room, which is great for keeping drinks cold! There is a large wardrobe, so plenty of space to hang clothes. In the bathroom there was a hairdryer, but no mains for an electric shaver, which we found strange. The pool area was very nice, large pool, a little cold when you first get in, off of the large pool was a smaller pool for children and also a small heated pool. There was plenty of sun beds, not many umbrellas. Nice pool bar with tables and chairs, staff in there were a little rude, especially the guy with glasses! We were on a bed and breakfast basis, there was a lot of choice, cereals, toast, cooked breakfast, croissants, fruit etc etc. You can have lunch and dinner also, if it is not included in your package then its 16.50 (euro) per person, which is a pretty good price. There is a good bus service that runs every 10mins to Benidorm or Altea wherever you go the fare is 1.20(euro), we caught the bus into Benidorm most nights, you go out of the hotel and cross the road walk up the main street and the bus stop is on the right hand side opposite 'Albir gardens'. There are plenty of supermarkets near to the hotel and a Lidl a stones throw away (right next door). We had a transfer from the Alicante airport which took about 2 hours as we had others to drop off, so on our return journey we got a taxi, which took about 35mins, but did cost 75 euro's, this was a Saturday and is cheaper on a week day about 55 euro's!! We had fantastic holiday here at Albir Playa and would defiantly recommend it and may even go back next year!
Great hotel

Stayed 4 nights at end of June 08. Very good hotel. Friendly staff, good size clean and well maintained rooms - worthy of 4 stars. Nice pool although not enough sunbeds for high season - typical for any hotel like this. Only big disappointment was food, which was not the quality you would expect for 4 star hotel. Hotel in good location with supermarkets, shops and restaurants nearby. 15 minute walk to the sea - good beach. Found the resort of Albir a little lacking in atmosphere but 10 minutes bus journey (30 minutes walk) along the coast was the fabulous town of Altea with loads of atmosphere, nice restaurants etc. A far cry from Benidorm. Would recommend hotel for couples and for families with younger children.
amazing value, lovely food, very clean.

Stayed for a short break from the 9th until 13th June. very helpful reception staff and friendly bar staff. The rooms are very large, well equipped and clean. We had a wonderful pool view on the 2nd floor. It was mostly quiet late at night however on the last night there were people talking loudly by the pool until 1am. Don't expect to he entertained in the evening, there was nothing on at the hotel while we were there and the resort itself is very quiet. However Benidorm is only a short bus ride away if you want a more lively time. The food was absolutely wondeful, you could have something different from the breakfast buffet every day for a year. If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday in a high standard of hotel where the pool area is never busy this is for you. Be careful not to book shuttle direct, we were met at the airport by a very rude English girl. My husband then left a bag on the bus and Andy (an English man) on the phone refused to help. It was left to the lovely spanish bus driver to return it to us. It took two hours on a rowdy bus which stopped at every hotel in benidorm to return to the airport. Find another way to transfer if you can.
Great Hotel

This hotel is excellent , clean and well presented , situated in a very quiet area about 8km outside Benidorm.I stayed there from 15/06/08 - 22/06/08 with my fiancee , daughter and her boyfriend We had a mountain/pool view room with balcony, exactly what we booked , the staff are all friendly and always willing to help . room service every day. The pool area is very nice and we never had a problem finding a sun bed, the pool is clean , with a small pool for the kids . Now for the food, we went full board and we have never eaten so well at a hotel, the food is excellent there is a good variety and it is well cooked and presented..( there was even champagne at breakfast ) I would give this hotel 9/10 as 10/10 would be perfect and that would be hard to achieve . The only downside to our holiday was that on day 2 about 30 young spanish school children aged from about 7 -12yrs arrived and they put them all on the 1st floor where we were. and although they were out all day they made up for it at night rampaging up and down corridors shouting and banging doors , they left after 4 days only to be replaced by the same number of spanish teenagers who caused more problems so the easy way to prevent this is check when the spanish school holidays are .. or ask to be put on any floor but the first ....this was the only problem , I did complain to manger who said he would change our rooms when he was able, we didnt bother as the room was nice , it was the rude ill behaved spanish kids thet needed to be dealt with ? All in all a good holiday at a nice hotel
Nice enough hotel, but..

£35 per night half board top value for that money easy to find on quite a busy roundabout, spa work was being done, i was in room 441 which had huge balcony, with decent view, reception ok to check in, got high floor quiet room which i asked for noisy at 7 when builders arrived, but didnt mind as every night seemed quiet enough, but only there 6th to 13th missing out sat night, staff in restaurant very good, marr issa (not sure of spelling) on dining room reception absolutely excellent host, and the rest not far behind meals breakfast good, i was chomping away on omelette with sliced potatoes followed by 4 toasted ham or bacon sandwiches, then some fruit , add 6 glasses of orange juice, and i was happy (not fat by the way, i train v hard ) evening meal 6 out of 10, needed to be warmer but reasonable enough, pool in my opinion was ok, space round it quite tight parking was street or in that week the river couldnt tell the difference after thunderstorm rooms, very clean, and smallish but felt 4 star (only just) t.v. sky news plus news 24, tv set up for german/spanish hotel maybe better suited not in july and august as i think its small and would feel to busy, albir is a reasonably nice place virtually crime free, plenty of eating places, lots of supermarkets there is a hill walk to the right of the beach where there is path to lighthouse, lovely walk approx 3.5 miles round trip, up hill of course but easy up hill, and most of the locals appeared to , run/walk/cycle up it only couple of miles from benidorm, which unfortunatly is getting worse, full of british stag and hen parties, worth a look if you have car Javea possibly one of the nicest places to have holiday home (near montgo mountain) in costa blanca Denia biggish port but street cafes and laid back, nice evening. Alte quite nice, Calpe average
Brilliant!

We arrived last Friday afternoon for a 4 night/5 day stay I was with my boyfriend and two of our friends (all aged between 27 and 30). Hotel was amazing, reception very friendly and good spoken English and since we were going into Benidorm most nights they always called us a Taxi and was at the Hotel within 5 mins. We had rooms located opposite each other on the 2nd floor - was disappointed with the view of the supermarket and roundabout from our balcony and jealous of the view our mates had of the swimming pool and outside area!! The food was amazing I can't complain at all - sometimes the pork was a little undercooked but people still ate it just personal preference I guess. Breakfast was amazing full english every morning! The bar staff in the evening especially Marcus were brilliant cocktails were lovely too!! Albir beach was nice - shingly but had pedelows with slides which were great fun!! 12 euros for an hour which wasn't too bad. Restaurants and bars around Albir are ok - if you are older and enjoy that kinda thing, we ended up in Benidorm most nights as it was a bit more lively there - although I didn't particularly like Benidorm a bit cheesy!! A mix of spanish, english and germany guests. I read the reviews about the Wedding and we were there that night too I'm not sure what floor the others were on but we never heard any loud music - I suppose it would have been nice to know if there was a wedding reception happening so people could make arrangments to go out I suppose. The entertainment was a bit naff but again maybe ok for older people. Room service was brilliant a lovely tidy room with made bed every morning! I'd definately recommend going to Aqualandia water park just near Benidorm - its brilliant! It costs about 22 Euro but definately worth it !! I would definately go back there again with my boyfriend, really good value for money and friendly staff. My only gripe was coming down for breakfast/dinner with 4 of us there was never any tables set for 4 people was only ever 2 or 3 or 6.... so had to constantly set out own 4th place up.
Better than expected......

Well.... we landed in Alicante on the 09.06.08 faced with downpours and thought OMG! We'd booked a car with Goldcar. We were reliant on my satnav and directions from home to get to the hotel. Unfortuanately for us (which we didnt find out till later into the hol), Albir doesn't exist as such. By chance, we found the hotel (and I'm serious!). I would advise to follow signs to Alfaz Del Pi and then you'll see signs for Playa de Albir. Hotel is situated just off the main street in Albir. Lidl is literally a stone throw away. Hotel itself spotless and we were most impressed by the mini fridge (good for water!) & air cond. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had an amazing view overlooking the pool. We couldnt hear a pin drop in our room (prob helped being on the 4th floor). Breakfast was aplenty. Lots of choice. Try to aim there for 8-8.30am as it picks up about 9. The weather picked up by about our 4th day (proper thunderstorms!) & from then on, it was glorious! Few hints..... buy your water from Lidl (6 bottles for 80 cents). Pizza Y Cia is a must. Excellent service and food lovely. Guy in there was great! Coco Loco on the beach serve amazing food. Buy Aqualandia tickets from the hotel (21euros instead of 33 at the park) - avoid weekends as very busy, we went Monday, Market in Alfaz Del Pi/Altea (Tuesday), Benidorm (Wednesday - a lot bigger). Mainly tack but some bargains if you like jewellery/scarfs etc....Avoid El Raco on the beach, [-] service & food not that great/expensive. Bus to Benidorm - 1.20. Takes about 30 mins the way they go. You need to be on the left side of the path walking to the beach. Alternatively, Altea is a nice little place, going the opposite way. 1euro 20 whatever the distance!!! Overall, we were pleasantly suprised with Albir. It was a lovely place without all the hussle and bustle of Benidorm. Everywhere spotlessly clean & generally everyone friendly. Look out for the sleeping Mexican (I thought he was real!). Went to Benidorm a couple of times, and would never go back. Really just a sunny Blackpool but bigger. Although did eat in Luccianos in the old part of it and that was lovely (far left side of beach). Definately a recommendation. Would def go back and recommend Albir Playa and Albir - Lovely little resort. Becky & Mike (Northampton, England)
Don't expect the beach
from A_Loiner
Playa means beach, but the town is called Albir Playa, and this hotel is not on the beach, about half a mile inland. Having got that out of the way, we thought it a good place, especially if touring with a car. Albir is a few miles from Benidorm and quiet, though has all the tourist facilities, restaurants bars etc. Hotel very smart, efficient reception, we didn't like room allocated (personal decision, nothing wrong with it), rapidly moved. Large bedrooms, well furnished, large balconies. Breakfast buffet good choice and changed through the week, a bit crowded at times. Other meals buffet style also, didn't sample, good value meals five minutes walk away. Pool area good plenty loungers, pool bar not open April but main bar convenient for poolside. Car parking underground very expensive, even receptionist said not to bother, street parking OK.
Nice hotel, shame about the noise

Nice hotel, very clean and nice rooms. Buffet average, bit samey and not the highest quality. Awful chemical smell coming from work being done on the spa, drifted into the dining room and put me off eating. Please beware, this hotel has weddings on a Sat night, and the wedding party still had music blaring at 3am, the hotel did not seem to care about the other 200 guests that were staying there and trying to sleep. We were checking out at 3am, and had not had a wink of sleep. When we went to check out, there was only 3 people left in the party and the reception did not ask them to turn the music down. Apart from this, the hotel and resort was nice.
loved it here

this is a truly well run hotel, we really enjoyed staying here the reception was beautiful and they helped us if we needed and spoke good english. The hotel is modern very clean and stylish large open spaces for relaxing, The restaurant was amazing very good food we ate very well indeed with a great varied buffet every day i really loved the lamb shanks they were yummy, different styles of potato every night and veg also great seafood selection on friday nights, salads rice pasta you name it we tried it all. The dessert section was very good cakes, ice creams, fresh fruits, cheeses, pate, we so loved the food and the kids had there own section as well which was good. Breakfast had every thing you could think of and of course the fry up if you wanted with english sausages, omlettes, pastries fresh bread, fresh juices it was all yummy. The rooms are of a good size with large balconies with great views of the mountains all around, free toiletries in room even toothbrushes and toothpaste, maid service was good we stayed in room 201 and had a lovely view towards benidorm you can see the tall hotels in the distance. The pool area is one of the best i have seen its really beautiful with a cascade waterfall into the pool, childrens park exercise equipment at pool side handy to work of the dinners, plenty sunloungers. There was a wedding while we were there and the hotel made the pool area really beautiful it was great to watch i cannot reccomend this hotel enough it was great and i would defintley return to the albir playa if you go here relax and ENJOY.
